How To Play

Introduction

Asteroid Mania! is an arcade-style 3D survival game set in an asteroid field in deep-space.

The goal of the game is simple: Stay alive while earning as may points as you can by blasting asteroids and flying saucers, and collecting power-ups.

Navigating the asteroid field and dodging enemy fire aren't the only things you'll need to worry about. You'll need to keep an eye on your fuel gauge (the blue bar in the upper-left portion of the play field) as well as the status of your shields (the yellow bar in the upper-right portion of the play field)

You can gain fuel by blasting asteroids and collecting "Fuel" power-ups. If you collect more fuel than you can store, the extra energy will be used to repair your shields.

Controls

Pressing the left or right side of the screen (where the directional arrows are located) will cause your ship to move left or right. Your ship will fly straight ahead otherwise.

Touching the play area anywhere other than the left or right side will fire your ship's blasters.

You can pause and resume the game at any time using the pause/play icon at the bottom of the screen.

You can toggle the music and sound effects by tapping the music note icon at the bottom of the screen. Note: On some devices, disabling sound can significant improve the framerate.

Power-ups

Fuel: Flying through this item will increase the amount of fuel you have in reserve. If you collect more fuel than you can store, the extra energy will be used to repair your shields.

Wide Shot: Collecting this item will allow you to fire a wide spread of shots 10 times. You can have a maximum of 15 wide shots in reserve.

Pow Shot: Pow shots can blast through more than one asteroid or enemy at a time. While your normal shots are destroyed along with your target, Pow shots keep going, allowing you to blast a clear path through the asteroid field. Collecting This power-up will allow you to fire 3 Pow shots. You can have a maximum of 5 pow shots in reserve.

If you collect both a Wide Shot and Pow Shot, the items will combine their effects, allowing you to fire several full wide-spreads of Pow shots!

Obstacles and Enemies

Asteroids: Running into these large obstacles will cause serious damage to your shields. Fortunately, they can be easily destroyed by your ship's blasters.

Flying Saucers: While easy to avoid, crashing in to one can be very damaging. They can be dispatched with a well-timed shot, but stay sharp: these ships will fire back!

Enemy fire: Flying saucers won't wait for you to shoot first, they'll start firing as soon as they spot you. Keep a sharp eye out for shots from their blasters. You'll need to dodge enemy fire, it can't be destroyed like asteroids and enemy ships.
