30. april 1964 the very first Basic ran at Dartmouth University. To celebrate the fifty years anniversary this is a fully functional simulation of the original Basic and the Dartmouth Time Sharing System. This early version of Basic was indeed rather basic, and had no facilities for neither user input nor string handling. An original manual can be found at http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/dartmouth/BASIC_Oct64.pdf The simulator starts with a login sequence, as seen on the picture. Give any user number consisting of six numbers or a letter followed by five numbers, e.g. 000000 or 123456. It then asks if a new or saved (old) program is wanted. Type new here first time. Program execution can be interrupted by typing 'S' for STOP, in case of infinite loops. A 25x80 character monitor i simulated, so it might be nessecary to scroll to see everything.
