The Serbian word for pie is "pita" and most of them are made from a phyllo called "kora". They are stuffed with various things such as cheese or meat and served with the main dish. Alternatively, there is a large variety of pies which are stuffed with fruits such as apples or sour cherries.
Anyway, you should try:
- Gibanica (with cheese and eggs)
- Pita sa mesom (stuffed with minced meat)
- Zeljanica (with spinach)
- Makovnjača (with poppy seeds)
- Pita sa jabukama (Apple pie)
Also, at local bakeries you can buy burek which is best bought in the morning as breakfast. It can be filled with cheese, minced meat or even empty (just the phyllo).
