Belgrade offers a lot of variety in its nightlife and there is certainly something for everyone. We will go over all of the different, unique types of clubs that you can find in "the city that never sleeps".
Rafts are a unique type of club!
Rafts
Most people who visit Belgrade are very intrigued by rafts (Serbian: splavovi) as their concept is rather interesting. Rafts are night clubs located on the Sava or Danube river that are open until the early morning hours. Some rafts will depart and travel across the river from time to time, while others are actually just stationary buildings.
Inside, the area is much like a night club, but there are often a lot of open-air spaces and there is a great view of the river. Drinks can get rather expensive here compared to your usual bars. As for the music played here, there is of course a lot of variety. Most rafts start the night with a professional DJ who will mix the latest techno and house music. However, as the night goes on you will have a chance to hear the modern version of Serbian traditional music that people often call turbo folk and/or "narodnjaci".
Kafane are a type of pub
Pubs
Kafane are traditional Serbian pubs that are a lot of fun! You will typically start your night here by eating a lot of Serbian barbecue after which it is usually time to drink a lot of alcohol. You won't find any fancy cocktails here!
In Serbian kafana's you will get a chance to drink rakija (a strong brandy), local beer, wine and vinjak (a cognac). There is always live music that will play traditional "old town" tunes. You need to visit at least one kafana in Skadarlija street during your stay Belgrade!
There are a ton of nightclubs too!
Nightclubs
If you just want to visit a regular nightclub then there are a lot of them in Belgrade as well! Drinks are reasonably priced except for beer, but then again you don't see people buying this beverage in clubs so often. If you are going with a bunch of friends then it a great idea to make reservations so that you can have your own table, private lunge or VIP space. Some of the best clubs are located in the centre of the city, near Ada and in Savamala.
Jazz, rock, casual...
Other
Of course not everyone enjoys nightclubs, kafane or rafts, not even many Belgraders. Thus, there are a lot of more "casual" places to go out. There are a lot of bars, cafes and clubs that have live jazz or rock music and several "chill" clubs that aren't so laud and crowded. There are also several Irish pubs that preserve the true spirit of Ireland within Belgrade.
