The plan is an important tool to promote a consistent and forward looking approach to management by all people involved in the therapy, including the patient. People with BPD / EUPD tend to have blurred boundaries and the structure of a plan can give them, and you, helpful boundaries and an increasing sense of appropriate control. (Krawitz and Watson have good examples of management plans Borderline Personality Disorder: Foundations of Treatment by Krawitz, Roy and Watson, Christine, Seaview Press, 2000).
