Note
- The key points when doing self-massage are:
- While Chinese self-massaging, the room should be kept at a comfortable temperature, not too hot in summer but warm enough in winter.
- The fingernails should be trimmed regularly in order to avoid injuring the skin.
- Except for a few manipulations, such as scrubbing, pushing, and nipping which require direct contact with skin, the manipulations of Chinese self-massage can be performed on the limbs or local areas while covered by soft underclothes or a sheet of soft cotton cloth.
- During the self-massage session, the person should gently focus their mind on the massage and not be distracted by outside thoughts.
- It is important to rest after strenuous exercise or excessive fatigue before attempting to do Chinese self-massage.
- Each Chinese self-massage session should last for 20-40 minutes, once a day or once every other day. When treating remedially, 7-10 treatments equal one course of treatment, and one should rest for 3-5 days between courses.
