Key points when doing self-massage
Notes list
Note
  • The key points when doing self-massage are:
    1. While Chinese self-massaging, the room should be kept at a comfortable temperature, not too hot in summer but warm enough in winter.
    2. The fingernails should be trimmed regularly in order to avoid injuring the skin.
    3. Except for a few manipulations, such as scrubbing, pushing, and nipping which require direct contact with skin, the manipulations of Chinese self-massage can be performed on the limbs or local areas while covered by soft underclothes or a sheet of soft cotton cloth.
    4. During the self-massage session, the person should gently focus their mind on the massage and not be distracted by outside thoughts.
    5. It is important to rest after strenuous exercise or excessive fatigue before attempting to do Chinese self-massage.
    6. Each Chinese self-massage session should last for 20-40 minutes, once a day or once every other day. When treating remedially, 7-10 treatments equal one course of treatment, and one should rest for 3-5 days between courses.
