بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا وَنِسَآءً ۚ وَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ الَّذِى تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَالْأَرْحَامَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا[1]

Ya ayyuha alnnasu ittaqoo rabbakumu allathee khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin wakhalaqa minha zawjaha wabaththa minhuma rijalan katheeran wanisaan waittaqoo Allaha allathee tasaaloona bihi waalarhama inna Allaha kana AAalaykum raqeeban

O hommes! Craignez votre Seigneur qui vous a créés d'un seul être, et a créé de celui-ci son épouse, et qui de ces deux là a fait répandre (sur la terre) beaucoup d'hommes et de femmes. Craignez Allah au nom duquel vous vous implorez les uns les autres, et craignez de rompre les liens du sang. Certes Allah vous observe parfaitement.

O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, His mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- reverence Allah, through whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.

وَءَاتُوا۟ الْيَتَٰمَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا۟ الْخَبِيثَ بِالطَّيِّبِ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبًا كَبِيرًا[2]

Waatoo alyatama amwalahum wala tatabaddaloo alkhabeetha bialttayyibi wala takuloo amwalahum ila amwalikum innahu kana hooban kabeeran

Et donnez aux orphelins leurs biens; n'y substituez pas le mauvais au bon. Ne mangez pas leurs biens avec les vôtres: c'est vraiment un grand péché.

To orphans restore their property (When they reach their age), nor substitute (your) worthless things for (their) good ones; and devour not their substance (by mixing it up) with your own. For this is indeed a great sin.

وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا۟ فِى الْيَتَٰمَىٰ فَانكِحُوا۟ مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ النِّسَآءِ مَثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ ۖ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا۟ فَوَٰحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعُولُوا۟[3]

Wain khiftum alla tuqsitoo fee alyatama fainkihoo ma taba lakum mina alnnisai mathna wathulatha warubaAAa fain khiftum alla taAAdiloo fawahidatan aw ma malakat aymanukum thalika adna alla taAAooloo

Et si vous craignez de n'être pas justes envers les orphelins,... Il est permis d'épouser deux, trois ou quatre, parmi les femmes qui vous plaisent, mais, si vous craignez de n'être pas justes avec celles-ci, alors une seule, ou des esclaves que vous possédez. Cela, afin de ne pas faire d'injustice (ou afin de ne pas aggraver votre charge de famille).

If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.

وَءَاتُوا۟ النِّسَآءَ صَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً ۚ فَإِن طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَن شَىْءٍ مِّنْهُ نَفْسًا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيٓـًٔا مَّرِيٓـًٔا[4]

Waatoo alnnisaa saduqatihinna nihlatan fain tibna lakum AAan shayin minhu nafsan fakuloohu haneean mareean

Et donnez aux épouses leur mahr, de bonne grâce. Si de bon gré, elles vous en abandonnent quelque chose, disposez-en alors à votre aise et de bon cœur.

And give the women (on marriage) their dower as a free gift; but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, Take it and enjoy it with right good cheer.

وَلَا تُؤْتُوا۟ السُّفَهَآءَ أَمْوَٰلَكُمُ الَّتِى جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ قِيَٰمًا وَارْزُقُوهُمْ فِيهَا وَاكْسُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا[5]

Wala tutoo alssufahaa amwalakumu allatee jaAAala Allahu lakum qiyaman waorzuqoohum feeha waoksoohum waqooloo lahum qawlan maAAroofan

Et ne confiez pas aux incapables vos biens dont Allah a fait votre subsistance. Mais prélevez-en, pour eux, nourriture et vêtement; et parlez-leur convenablement.

To those weak of understanding Make not over your property, which Allah hath made a means of support for you, but feed and clothe them therewith, and speak to them words of kindness and justice.

وَابْتَلُوا۟ الْيَتَٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُوا۟ النِّكَاحَ فَإِنْ ءَانَسْتُم مِّنْهُمْ رُشْدًا فَادْفَعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوهَآ إِسْرَافًا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكْبَرُوا۟ ۚ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ ۖ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فَأَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ حَسِيبًا[6]

Waibtaloo alyatama hatta itha balaghoo alnnikaha fain anastum minhum rushdan faidfaAAoo ilayhim amwalahum wala takulooha israfan wabidaran an yakbaroo waman kana ghaniyyan falyastaAAfif waman kana faqeeran falyakul bialmaAAroofi faitha dafaAAtum ilayhim amwalahum faashhidoo AAalayhim wakafa biAllahi haseeban

Et éprouvez (la capacité) des orphelins jusqu'à ce qu'ils atteignent (l'aptitude) au mariage; et si vous ressentez en eux une bonne conduite, remettez-leur leurs biens. Ne les utilisez pas (dans votre intérêt) avec gaspillage et dissipation, avant qu'ils ne grandissent. Quiconque est aisé, qu'il s'abstienne d'en prendre lui-même. S'il est pauvre, alors qu'il en utilise raisonnablement: et lorsque vous leur remettez leurs biens, prenez des témoins à leur encontre. Mais Allah suffit pour observer et compter.

Make trial of orphans until they reach the age of marriage; if then ye find sound judgment in them, release their property to them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their growing up. If the guardian is well-off, Let him claim no remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take witnesses in their presence: But all-sufficient is Allah in taking account.

لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَٰلِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَٰلِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ ۚ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا[7]

Lilrrijali naseebun mimma taraka alwalidani waalaqraboona walilnnisai naseebun mimma taraka alwalidani waalaqraboona mimma qalla minhu aw kathura naseeban mafroodan

Aux hommes revient une part de ce qu'ont laissé les père et mère ainsi que les proches; et aux femmes une part de ce qu'ont laissé les père et mère ainsi que les proches, que ce soit peu ou beaucoup: une part fixée.

From what is left by parents and those nearest related there is a share for men and a share for women, whether the property be small or large,-a determinate share.

وَإِذَا حَضَرَ الْقِسْمَةَ أُو۟لُوا۟ الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَالْمَسَٰكِينُ فَارْزُقُوهُم مِّنْهُ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا[8]

Waitha hadara alqismata oloo alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeenu faorzuqoohum minhu waqooloo lahum qawlan maAAroofan

Et lorsque les proches parents, les orphelins, les nécessiteux assistent au partage, offrez-leur quelque chose de l'héritage, et parlez-leur convenablement.

But if at the time of division other relatives, or orphans or poor, are present, feed them out of the (property), and speak to them words of kindness and justice.

وَلْيَخْشَ الَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَٰفًا خَافُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا[9]

Walyakhsha allatheena law tarakoo min khalfihim thurriyyatan diAAafan khafoo AAalayhim falyattaqoo Allaha walyaqooloo qawlan sadeedan

Que la crainte saisisse ceux qui laisseraient après eux une descendance faible, et qui seraient inquiets à leur sujet; qu'ils redoutent donc Allah et qu'ils prononcent des paroles justes.

Let those (disposing of an estate) have the same fear in their minds as they would have for their own if they had left a helpless family behind: Let them fear Allah, and speak words of appropriate (comfort).

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَٰلَ الْيَتَٰمَىٰ ظُلْمًا إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًا ۖ وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًا[10]

Inna allatheena yakuloona amwala alyatama thulman innama yakuloona fee butoonihim naran wasayaslawna saAAeeran

Ceux qui mangent [disposent] injustement des biens des orphelins ne font que manger du feu dans leurs ventres. Ils brûleront bientôt dans les flammes de l'Enfer.

Those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans, eat up a Fire into their own bodies: They will soon be enduring a Blazing Fire!

يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِىٓ أَوْلَٰدِكُمْ ۖ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۚ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ ۖ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَٰحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُ ۚ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ ۚ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِى بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًا ۚ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[11]

Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikum lilththakari mithlu haththi alonthayayni fain kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunna thulutha ma taraka wain kanat wahidatan falaha alnnisfu waliabawayhi likulli wahidin minhuma alssudusu mimma taraka in kana lahu waladun fain lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahu faliommihi alththuluthu fain kana lahu ikhwatun faliommihi alssudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yoosee biha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum la tadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahi inna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeeman

Voici ce qu'Allah vous enjoint au sujet de vos enfants: au fils, une part équivalente à celle de deux filles. S'il n'y a que des filles, même plus de deux, à elles alors deux tiers de ce que le défunt laisse. Et s'il n'y en a qu'une, à elle alors la moitié. Quant aux père et mère du défunt, à chacun d'eux le sixième de ce qu'il laisse, s'il a un enfant. S'il n'a pas d'enfant et que ses père et mère héritent de lui, à sa mère alors le tiers. Mais s'il a des frères, à la mère alors le sixième, après exécution du testament qu'il aurait fait ou paiement d'une dette. De vos ascendants ou descendants, vous ne savez pas qui est plus près de vous en utilité. Ceci est un ordre obligatoire de la part d'Allah, car Allah est, certes, Omniscient et Sage.

Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases ('s) after the payment of legacies and debts. Ye know not whether your parents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. These are settled portions ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Al-wise.

۞ وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَٰجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ ۚ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۚ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم ۚ مِّنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَٰلَةً أَوِ امْرَأَةٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ ۚ فَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فِى الثُّلُثِ ۚ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَآرٍّ ۚ وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ[12]

Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukum in lam yakun lahunna waladun fain kana lahunna waladun falakumu alrrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseena biha aw daynin walahunna alrrubuAAu mimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fain kana lakum waladun falahunna alththumunu mimma taraktum min baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha aw daynin wain kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awi imraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhuma alssudusu fain kanoo akthara min thalika fahum shurakao fee alththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatin yoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatan mina Allahi waAllahu AAaleemun haleemun

Et à vous la moitié de ce que laissent vos épouses, si elles n'ont pas d'enfants. Si elles ont un enfant, alors à vous le quart de ce qu'elles laissent, après exécution du testament qu'elles auraient fait ou paiement d'une dette. Et à elles un quart de ce que vous laissez, si vous n'avez pas d'enfant. Mais si vous avez un enfant, à elles alors le huitième de ce que vous laissez après exécution du testament que vous auriez fait ou paiement d'une dette. Et si un homme, ou une femme meurt sans héritier direct, cependant qu'il laisse un frère ou une sœur, à chacun de ceux-ci alors, un sixième. S'ils sont plus de deux, tous alors participeront au tiers, après exécution du testament ou paiement d'une dette, sans préjudice à quiconque. (Telle est l') Injonction d'Allah! Et Allah est Omniscient et Indulgent.

In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave no child; but if they leave a child, ye get a fourth; after payment of legacies and debts. In what ye leave, their share is a fourth, if ye leave no child; but if ye leave a child, they get an eighth; after payment of legacies and debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question, has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of legacies and debts; so that no loss is caused (to any one). Thus is it ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Most Forbearing.

تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ[13]

Tilka hudoodu Allahi waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wathalika alfawzu alAAatheemu

Tels sont les ordres d'Allah. Et quiconque obéit à Allah et à Son messager, Il le fera entrer dans les Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, pour y demeurer éternellement. Et voilà la grande réussite.

Those are limits set by Allah: those who obey Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to Gardens with rivers flowing beneath, to abide therein (for ever) and that will be the supreme achievement.

وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا وَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ[14]

Waman yaAAsi Allaha warasoolahu wayataAAadda hudoodahu yudkhilhu naran khalidan feeha walahu AAathabun muheenun

Et quiconque désobéit à Allah et à Son messager, et transgresse Ses ordres, Il le fera entrer au Feu pour y demeurer éternellement. Et celui-là aura un châtiment avilissant.

But those who disobey Allah and His Messenger and transgress His limits will be admitted to a Fire, to abide therein: And they shall have a humiliating punishment.

وَالَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ الْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَاسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى الْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ الْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا[15]

Waallatee yateena alfahishata min nisaikum faistashhidoo AAalayhinna arbaAAatan minkum fain shahidoo faamsikoohunna fee albuyooti hatta yatawaffahunna almawtu aw yajAAala Allahu lahunna sabeelan

Celles de vos femmes qui forniquent, faites témoigner à leur encontre quatre d'entre vous. S'ils témoignent, alors confinez ces femmes dans vos maisons jusqu'à ce que la mort les rappelle ou qu'Allah décrète un autre ordre à leur égard.

If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way.

وَالَّذَانِ يَأْتِيَٰنِهَا مِنكُمْ فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا ۖ فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصْلَحَا فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمَآ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا[16]

Waallathani yatiyaniha minkum faathoohuma fain taba waaslaha faaAAridoo AAanhuma inna Allaha kana tawwaban raheeman

Les deux d'entre vous qui l'ont commise [la fornication], sévissez contre eux. S'ils se repentent ensuite et se réforment, alors laissez-les en paix. Allah demeure Accueillant au repentir et Miséricordieux.

If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone; for Allah is Oft-returning, Most Merciful.

إِنَّمَا التَّوْبَةُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[17]

Innama alttawbatu AAala Allahi lillatheena yaAAmaloona alssooa bijahalatin thumma yatooboona min qareebin faolaika yatoobu Allahu AAalayhim wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeeman

Allah accueille seulement le repentir de ceux qui font le mal par ignorance et qui aussitôt se repentent. Voilà ceux de qui Allah accueille le repentir. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

Allah accept the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon afterwards; to them will Allah turn in mercy: For Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّـَٔاتِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّى تُبْتُ الْـَٰٔنَ وَلَا الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا[18]

Walaysati alttawbatu lillatheena yaAAmaloona alssayyiati hatta itha hadara ahadahumu almawtu qala innee tubtu alana wala allatheena yamootoona wahum kuffarun olaika aAAtadna lahum AAathaban aleeman

Mais l'absolution n'est point destinée à ceux qui font de mauvaises actions jusqu'au moment où la mort se présente à l'un d'eux, et qui s'écrie: «Certes, je me repens maintenant» - non plus pour ceux qui meurent mécréants. Et c'est pour eux que Nous avons préparé un châtiment douloureux.

Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until death faces one of them, and he says, "Now have I repented indeed;" nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them have We prepared a punishment most grievous.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَن تَرِثُوا۟ النِّسَآءَ كَرْهًا ۖ وَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوا۟ بِبَعْضِ مَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِينَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ ۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا[19]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la yahillu lakum an tarithoo alnnisaa karhan wala taAAduloohunna litathhaboo bibaAAdi ma ataytumoohunna illa an yateena bifahishatin mubayyinatin waAAashiroohunna bialmaAAroofi fain karihtumoohunna faAAasa an takrahoo shayan wayajAAala Allahu feehi khayran katheeran

O les croyants! Il ne vous est pas licite d'hériter des femmes contre leur gré. Ne les empêchez pas de se remarier dans le but de leur ravir une partie de ce que vous aviez donné, à moins qu'elles ne viennent à commettre un péché prouvé. Et comportez-vous convenablement envers elles. Si vous avez de l'aversion envers elles durant la vie commune, il se peut que vous ayez de l'aversion pour une chose où Allah a déposé un grand bien.

O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.

وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ اسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍ وَءَاتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارًا فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا۟ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ بُهْتَٰنًا وَإِثْمًا مُّبِينًا[20]

Wain aradtumu istibdala zawjin makana zawjin waataytum ihdahunna qintaran fala takhuthoo minhu shayan atakhuthoonahu buhtanan waithman mubeenan

Si vous voulez substituer une épouse à une autre, et que vous ayez donné à l'une un qintâr, n'en reprenez rien. Quoi! Le reprendriez-vous par injustice et péché manifeste?

But if ye decide to take one wife in place of another, even if ye had given the latter a whole treasure for dower, Take not the least bit of it back: Would ye take it by slander and manifest wrong?

وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًا[21]

Wakayfa takhuthoonahu waqad afda baAAdukum ila baAAdin waakhathna minkum meethaqan ghaleethan

Comment oseriez-vous le reprendre, après que l'union la plus intime vous ait associés l'un à l'autre et qu'elles aient obtenu de vous un engagement solennel?

And how could ye take it when ye have gone in unto each other, and they have Taken from you a solemn covenant?

وَلَا تَنكِحُوا۟ مَا نَكَحَ ءَابَآؤُكُم مِّنَ النِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةً وَمَقْتًا وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا[22]

Wala tankihoo ma nakaha abaokum mina alnnisai illa ma qad salafa innahu kana fahishatan wamaqtan wasaa sabeelan

Et n'épousez pas les femmes que vos pères ont épousées, exception faite pour le passé. C'est une turpitude, une abomination, et quelle mauvaise conduite!

And marry not women whom your fathers married,- except what is past: It was shameful and odious,- an abominable custom indeed.

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ الْأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ الْأُخْتِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ الَّٰتِىٓ أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم مِّنَ الرَّضَٰعَةِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُ نِسَآئِكُمْ وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ الَّٰتِى فِى حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِكُمُ الَّٰتِى دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَإِن لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ أَبْنَآئِكُمُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَٰبِكُمْ وَأَن تَجْمَعُوا۟ بَيْنَ الْأُخْتَيْنِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[23]

Hurrimat AAalaykum ommahatukum wabanatukum waakhawatukum waAAammatukum wakhalatukum wabanatu alakhi wabanatu alokhti waommahatukumu allatee ardaAAnakum waakhawatukum mina alrradaAAati waommahatu nisaikum warabaibukumu allatee fee hujoorikum min nisaikumu allatee dakhaltum bihinna fain lam takoonoo dakhaltum bihinna fala junaha AAalaykum wahalailu abnaikumu allatheena min aslabikum waan tajmaAAoo bayna alokhtayni illa ma qad salafa inna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman

Vous sont interdites vos mères, filles, sœurs, tantes paternelles et tantes maternelles, filles d'un frère et filles d'une sœur, mères qui vous ont allaités, sœurs de lait, mères de vos femmes, belles-filles sous votre tutelle et issues des femmes avec qui vous avez consommé le mariage; si le mariage n'a pas été consommé, ceci n'est pas un péché de votre part; les femmes de vos fils nés de vos reins; de même que deux sœurs réunies - exception faite pour le passé. Car vraiment Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux;

Prohibited to you (For marriage) are:- Your mothers, daughters, sisters; father's sisters, Mother's sisters; brother's daughters, sister's daughters; foster-mothers (Who gave you suck), foster-sisters; your wives' mothers; your step-daughters under your guardianship, born of your wives to whom ye have gone in,- no prohibition if ye have not gone in;- (Those who have been) wives of your sons proceeding from your loins; and two sisters in wedlock at one and the same time, except for what is past; for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;-

۞ وَالْمُحْصَنَٰتُ مِنَ النِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ ۖ كِتَٰبَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَأُحِلَّ لَكُم مَّا وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَن تَبْتَغُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُم مُّحْصِنِينَ غَيْرَ مُسَٰفِحِينَ ۚ فَمَا اسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِهِۦ مِنْهُنَّ فَـَٔاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةً ۚ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا تَرَٰضَيْتُم بِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعْدِ الْفَرِيضَةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[24]

Waalmuhsanatu mina alnnisai illa ma malakat aymanukum kitaba Allahi AAalaykum waohilla lakum ma waraa thalikum an tabtaghoo biamwalikum muhsineena ghayra musafiheena fama istamtaAAtum bihi minhunna faatoohunna ojoorahunna fareedatan wala junaha AAalaykum feema taradaytum bihi min baAAdi alfareedati inna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeeman

et, parmi les femmes, les dames (qui ont un mari), sauf si elles sont vos esclaves en toute propriété. Prescription d'Allah sur vous! A part cela, il vous est permis de les rechercher, en vous servant de vos biens et en concluant mariage, non en débauchés. Puis, de même que vous jouissez d'elles, donnez-leur leur mahr comme une chose due. Il n'y a aucun péché contre vous à ce que vous concluez un accord quelconque entre vous après la fixation du mahr Car Allah est, certes, Omniscient et Sage.

Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess: Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) against you: Except for these, all others are lawful, provided ye seek (them in marriage) with gifts from your property,- desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that ye derive benefit from them, give them their dowers (at least) as prescribed; but if, after a dower is prescribed, agree Mutually (to vary it), there is no blame on you, and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

وَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنكُمْ طَوْلًا أَن يَنكِحَ الْمُحْصَنَٰتِ الْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَٰتِكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَٰنِكُم ۚ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ ۚ فَانكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ وَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَٰتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَٰفِحَٰتٍ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخْدَانٍ ۚ فَإِذَآ أُحْصِنَّ فَإِنْ أَتَيْنَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى الْمُحْصَنَٰتِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ الْعَنَتَ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَأَن تَصْبِرُوا۟ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[25]

Waman lam yastatiAA minkum tawlan an yankiha almuhsanati almuminati famin ma malakat aymanukum min fatayatikumu almuminati waAllahu aAAlamu bieemanikum baAAdukum min baAAdin fainkihoohunna biithni ahlihinna waatoohunna ojoorahunna bialmaAAroofi muhsanatin ghayra masafihatin wala muttakhithati akhdanin faitha ohsinna fain atayna bifahishatin faAAalayhinna nisfu ma AAala almuhsanati mina alAAathabi thalika liman khashiya alAAanata minkum waan tasbiroo khayrun lakum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun

Et quiconque parmi vous n'a pas les moyens pour épouser des femmes libres (non esclaves) croyantes, eh bien (il peut épouser) une femme parmi celles de vos esclaves croyantes. Allah connaît mieux votre foi, car vous êtes les uns des autres (de la même religion). Et épousez-les avec l'autorisation de leurs maîtres (Waliy) et donnez-leur un mahr convenable; (épousez-les) étant vertueuses et non pas livrées à la débauche ni ayant des amants clandestins. Si, une fois engagées dans le mariage, elles commettent l'adultère, elles reçoivent la moitié du châtiment qui revient aux femmes libres (non esclaves) mariées. Ceci est autorisé à celui d'entre vous qui craint la débauche; mais ce serait mieux pour vous d'être endurant. Et Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ سُنَنَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ[26]

Yureedu Allahu liyubayyina lakum wayahdiyakum sunana allatheena min qablikum wayatooba AAalaykum waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun

Allah veut vous éclairer, vous montrer les voies des hommes d'avant vous, et aussi accueillir votre repentir. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

Allah doth wish to make clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those before you; and (He doth wish to) turn to you (In Mercy): And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

وَاللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الشَّهَوَٰتِ أَن تَمِيلُوا۟ مَيْلًا عَظِيمًا[27]

WaAllahu yureedu an yatooba AAalaykum wayureedu allatheena yattabiAAoona alshshahawati an tameeloo maylan AAatheeman

Et Allah veut accueillir votre repentir. Mais ceux qui suivent les passions veulent que vous vous incliniez grandement (vers l'erreur comme ils le font).

Allah doth wish to Turn to you, but the wish of those who follow their lusts is that ye should turn away (from Him),- far, far away.

يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَن يُخَفِّفَ عَنكُمْ ۚ وَخُلِقَ الْإِنسَٰنُ ضَعِيفًا[28]

Yureedu Allahu an yukhaffifa AAankum wakhuliqa alinsanu daAAeefan

Allah veut vous alléger (les obligations,) car l'homme a été créé faible.

Allah doth wish to lighten your (difficulties): For man was created Weak (in flesh).

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِالْبَٰطِلِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنكُمْ ۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا[29]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takuloo amwalakum baynakum bialbatili illa an takoona tijaratan AAan taradin minkum wala taqtuloo anfusakum inna Allaha kana bikum raheeman

O les croyants! Que les uns d'entre vous ne mangent pas les biens des autres illégalement. Mais qu'il y ait du négoce (légal), entre vous, par consentement mutuel. Et ne vous tuez pas vous-mêmes. Allah, en vérité, est Miséricordieux envers vous.

O ye who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves in vanities: But let there be amongst you Traffic and trade by mutual good-will: Nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily Allah hath been to you Most Merciful!

وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ عُدْوَٰنًا وَظُلْمًا فَسَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرًا[30]

Waman yafAAal thalika AAudwanan wathulman fasawfa nusleehi naran wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

Et quiconque commet cela, par excès et par iniquité, Nous le jetterons au Feu, voilà qui est facile pour Allah.

If any do that in rancour and injustice,- soon shall We cast them into the Fire: And easy it is for Allah.

إِن تَجْتَنِبُوا۟ كَبَآئِرَ مَا تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَنُدْخِلْكُم مُّدْخَلًا كَرِيمًا[31]

In tajtaniboo kabaira ma tunhawna AAanhu nukaffir AAankum sayyiatikum wanudkhilkum mudkhalan kareeman

Si vous évitez les grands péchés qui vous sont interdits, Nous effacerons vos méfaits de votre compte, et Nous vous ferons entrer dans un endroit honorable (le Paradis).

If ye (but) eschew the most heinous of the things which ye are forbidden to do, We shall expel out of you all the evil in you, and admit you to a gate of great honour.

وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا۟ مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِۦ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا اكْتَسَبُوا۟ ۖ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا اكْتَسَبْنَ ۚ وَسْـَٔلُوا۟ اللَّهَ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا[32]

Wala tatamannaw ma faddala Allahu bihi baAAdakum AAala baAAdin lilrrijali naseebun mimma iktasaboo walilnnisai naseebun mimma iktasabna waisaloo Allaha min fadlihi inna Allaha kana bikulli shayin AAaleeman

Ne convoitez pas ce qu'Allah a attribué aux uns d'entre vous plus qu'aux autres; aux hommes la part qu'ils ont acquise, et aux femmes la part qu'elles ont acquise. Demandez à Allah de Sa grâce. Car Allah, certes, est Omniscient.

And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others: To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask Allah of His bounty. For Allah hath full knowledge of all things.

وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَٰلِىَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَٰلِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ ۚ وَالَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَـَٔاتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدًا[33]

Walikullin jaAAalna mawaliya mimma taraka alwalidani waalaqraboona waallatheena AAaqadat aymanukum faatoohum naseebahum inna Allaha kana AAala kulli shayin shaheedan

A tous Nous avons désigné des héritiers pour ce que leur laissent leurs père et mère, leurs proches parents, et ceux envers qui, de vos propres mains, vous vous êtes engagés, donnez leur donc leur part, car Allah, en vérité, est témoin de tout.

To (benefit) every one, We have appointed shares and heirs to property left by parents and relatives. To those, also, to whom your right hand was pledged, give their due portion. For truly Allah is witness to all things.

الرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى النِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ ۚ فَالصَّٰلِحَٰتُ قَٰنِتَٰتٌ حَٰفِظَٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ اللَّهُ ۚ وَالَّٰتِى تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِى الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ۖ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا[34]

Alrrijalu qawwamoona AAala alnnisai bima faddala Allahu baAAdahum AAala baAAdin wabima anfaqoo min amwalihim faalssalihatu qanitatun hafithatun lilghaybi bima hafitha Allahu waallatee takhafoona nushoozahunna faAAithoohunna waohjuroohunna fee almadajiAAi waidriboohunna fain ataAAnakum fala tabghoo AAalayhinna sabeelan inna Allaha kana AAaliyyan kabeeran

Les hommes ont autorité sur les femmes, en raison des faveurs qu'Allah accorde à ceux-là sur celles-ci, et aussi à cause des dépenses qu'ils font de leurs biens. Les femmes vertueuses sont obéissantes (à leurs maris), et protègent ce qui doit être protégé, pendant l'absence de leurs époux, avec la protection d'Allah. Et quant à celles dont vous craignez la désobéissance, exhortez-les, éloignez-vous d'elles dans leurs lits et frappez-les. Si elles arrivent à vous obéir, alors ne cherchez plus de voie contre elles, car Allah est certes, Haut et Grand!

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ شِقَاقَ بَيْنِهِمَا فَابْعَثُوا۟ حَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهِۦ وَحَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن يُرِيدَآ إِصْلَٰحًا يُوَفِّقِ اللَّهُ بَيْنَهُمَآ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا خَبِيرًا[35]

Wain khiftum shiqaqa baynihima faibAAathoo hakaman min ahlihi wahakaman min ahliha in yureeda islahan yuwaffiqi Allahu baynahuma inna Allaha kana AAaleeman khabeeran

Si vous craignez le désaccord entre les deux [époux], envoyez alors un arbitre de sa famille à lui, et un arbitre de sa famille à elle. Si les deux veulent la réconciliation, Allah rétablira l'entente entre eux. Allah est certes, Omniscient et Parfaitement Connaisseur.

If ye fear a breach between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his family, and the other from hers; if they wish for peace, Allah will cause their reconciliation: For Allah hath full knowledge, and is acquainted with all things.

۞ وَاعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَبِالْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰنًا وَبِذِى الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَالْمَسَٰكِينِ وَالْجَارِ ذِى الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْجَارِ الْجُنُبِ وَالصَّاحِبِ بِالْجَنۢبِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا[36]

WaoAAbudoo Allaha wala tushrikoo bihi shayan wabialwalidayni ihsanan wabithee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waaljari thee alqurba waaljari aljunubi waalssahibi bialjanbi waibni alssabeeli wama malakat aymanukum inna Allaha la yuhibbu man kana mukhtalan fakhooran

Adorez Allah et ne Lui donnez aucun associé. Agissez avec bonté envers (vos) père et mère, les proches, les orphelins, les pauvres, le proche voisin, le voisin lointain, le collègue et le voyageur, et les esclaves en votre possession, car Allah n'aime pas, en vérité, le présomptueux, l'arrogant,

Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious;-

الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۗ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا[37]

Allatheena yabkhaloona wayamuroona alnnasa bialbukhli wayaktumoona ma atahumu Allahu min fadlihi waaAAtadna lilkafireena AAathaban muheenan

Ceux qui sont avares et ordonnent l'avarice aux autres, et cachent ce qu'Allah leur a donné de par Sa grâce. Nous avons préparé un châtiment avilissant pour les mécréants.

(Nor) those who are niggardly or enjoin niggardliness on others, or hide the bounties which Allah hath bestowed on them; for We have prepared, for those who resist Faith, a punishment that steeps them in contempt;-

وَالَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ رِئَآءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلَا بِالْيَوْمِ الْءَاخِرِ ۗ وَمَن يَكُنِ الشَّيْطَٰنُ لَهُۥ قَرِينًا فَسَآءَ قَرِينًا[38]

Waallatheena yunfiqoona amwalahum riaa alnnasi wala yuminoona biAllahi wala bialyawmi alakhiri waman yakuni alshshaytanu lahu qareenan fasaa qareenan

Et ceux qui dépensent leurs biens avec ostentation devant les gens, et ne croient ni en Allah ni au Jour dernier. Quiconque a le Diable pour camarade inséparable, quel mauvais camarade!

Not those who spend of their substance, to be seen of men, but have no faith in Allah and the Last Day: If any take the Evil One for their intimate, what a dreadful intimate he is!

وَمَاذَا عَلَيْهِمْ لَوْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْءَاخِرِ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِهِمْ عَلِيمًا[39]

Wamatha AAalayhim law amanoo biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri waanfaqoo mimma razaqahumu Allahu wakana Allahu bihim AAaleeman

Qu'auraient-ils à se reprocher s'ils avaient cru en Allah et au Jour dernier et dépensé (dans l'obéissance) de ce qu'Allah leur a attribué? Allah, d'eux, est Omniscient.

And what burden Were it on them if they had faith in Allah and in the Last Day, and they spent out of what Allah hath given them for sustenance? For Allah hath full knowledge of them.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ ۖ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَٰعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِن لَّدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[40]

Inna Allaha la yathlimu mithqala tharratin wain taku hasanatan yudaAAifha wayuti min ladunhu ajran AAatheeman

Certes, Allah ne lèse (personne), fût-ce du poids d'un atome. S'il est une bonne action, Il la double, et accorde une grosse récompense de Sa part.

Allah is never unjust in the least degree: If there is any good (done), He doubleth it, and giveth from His own presence a great reward.

فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شَهِيدًا[41]

Fakayfa itha jina min kulli ommatin bishaheedin wajina bika AAala haolai shaheedan

Comment seront-ils quand Nous ferons venir de chaque communauté un témoin, et que Nous te (Muhammad) ferons venir comme témoin contre ces gens-ci?

How then if We brought from each people a witness, and We brought thee as a witness against these people!

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَعَصَوُا۟ الرَّسُولَ لَوْ تُسَوَّىٰ بِهِمُ الْأَرْضُ وَلَا يَكْتُمُونَ اللَّهَ حَدِيثًا[42]

Yawmaithin yawaddu allatheena kafaroo waAAasawoo alrrasoola law tusawwa bihimu alardu wala yaktumoona Allaha hadeethan

Ce jour-là, ceux qui n'ont pas cru et ont désobéi au Messager, préfèreraient que la terre fût nivelée sur eux et ils ne sauront cacher à Allah aucune parole.

On that day those who reject Faith and disobey the messenger will wish that the earth Were made one with them: But never will they hide a single fact from Allah!

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ الصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنتُمْ سُكَٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعْلَمُوا۟ مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِى سَبِيلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغْتَسِلُوا۟ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ الْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَٰمَسْتُمُ النِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَامْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا[43]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqraboo alssalata waantum sukara hatta taAAlamoo ma taqooloona wala junuban illa AAabiree sabeelin hatta taghtasiloo wain kuntum marda aw AAala safarin aw jaa ahadun minkum mina alghaiti aw lamastumu alnnisaa falam tajidoo maan fatayammamoo saAAeedan tayyiban faimsahoo biwujoohikum waaydeekum inna Allaha kana AAafuwwan ghafooran

O les croyants! N'approchez pas de la Salât alors que vous êtes ivres jusqu'à ce que vous compreniez ce que vous dites, et aussi quand vous êtes en état d'impureté [pollués] - à moins que vous ne soyez en voyage - jusqu'à ce que vous ayez pris un bain rituel. Si vous êtes malades ou en voyage, ou si l'un de vous revient du lieu où il a fait ses besoins, ou si vous avez touché à des femmes et que vous ne trouviez pas d'eau, alors recourez à une terre pure, et passez-vous-en sur vos visages et sur vos mains. Allah, en vérité, est Indulgent et Pardonneur.

O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ الْكِتَٰبِ يَشْتَرُونَ الضَّلَٰلَةَ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ السَّبِيلَ[44]

Alam tara ila allatheena ootoo naseeban mina alkitabi yashtaroona alddalalata wayureedoona an tadilloo alssabeela

N'as-tu (Muhammad) pas vu ceux qui ont reçu une partie du Livre acheter l'égarement et chercher à ce que vous vous égariez du [droit] chemin?

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion of the Book? they traffic in error, and wish that ye should lose the right path.

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِأَعْدَآئِكُمْ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ نَصِيرًا[45]

WaAllahu aAAlamu biaAAdaikum wakafa biAllahi waliyyan wakafa biAllahi naseeran

Allah connaît mieux vos ennemis. Et Allah suffit comme protecteur. Et Allah suffit comme secoureur.

But Allah hath full knowledge of your enemies: Allah is enough for a protector, and Allah is enough for a Helper.

مِّنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ يُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَاسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِى الدِّينِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاسْمَعْ وَانظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا[46]

Mina allatheena hadoo yuharrifoona alkalima AAan mawadiAAihi wayaqooloona samiAAna waAAasayna waismaAA ghayra musmaAAin waraAAina layyan bialsinatihim wataAAnan fee alddeeni walaw annahum qaloo samiAAna waataAAna waismaAA waonthurna lakana khayran lahum waaqwama walakin laAAanahumu Allahu bikufrihim fala yuminoona illa qaleelan

Il en est parmi les Juifs qui détournent les mots de leur sens, et disent: «Nous avions entendu, mais nous avons désobéi», «Ecoute sans qu'il te soit donné d'entendre», et favorise nous «Ra'inâ», tordant la langue et attaquant la religion. Si au contraire ils disaient: «Nous avons entendu et nous avons obéi», «Ecoute», et «Regarde-nous», ce serait meilleur pour eux, et plus droit. Mais Allah les a maudits à cause de leur mécréance; leur foi est donc bien médiocre.

Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "What hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ الْكِتَٰبَ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّطْمِسَ وُجُوهًا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِهَآ أَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ السَّبْتِ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ مَفْعُولًا[47]

Ya ayyuha allatheena ootoo alkitaba aminoo bima nazzalna musaddiqan lima maAAakum min qabli an natmisa wujoohan fanaruddaha AAala adbariha aw nalAAanahum kama laAAanna ashaba alssabti wakana amru Allahi mafAAoolan

O vous à qui on a donné le Livre, croyez à ce que Nous avons fait descendre, en confirmation de ce que vous aviez déjà, avant que Nous effacions des visages et les retournions sens devant derrière, ou que Nous les maudissions comme Nous avons maudit les gens du Sabbat. Car le commandement d'Allah est toujours exécuté.

O ye People of the Book! believe in what We have (now) revealed, confirming what was (already) with you, before We change the face and fame of some (of you) beyond all recognition, and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers, for the decision of Allah Must be carried out.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰٓ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا[48]

Inna Allaha la yaghfiru an yushraka bihi wayaghfiru ma doona thalika liman yashao waman yushrik biAllahi faqadi iftara ithman AAatheeman

Certes Allah ne pardonne pas qu'on Lui donne quelqu'associé. A part cela, Il pardonne à qui Il veut. Mais quiconque donne à Allah quelqu'associé commet un énorme péché.

Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم ۚ بَلِ اللَّهُ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا[49]

Alam tara ila allatheena yuzakkoona anfusahum bali Allahu yuzakkee man yashao wala yuthlamoona fateelan

N'as-tu pas vu ceux-là qui se déclarent purs? Mais c'est Allah qui purifie qui Il veut; et ils ne seront point lésés, fût-ce d'un brin de noyau de datte.

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who claim sanctity for themselves? Nay-but Allah Doth sanctify whom He pleaseth. But never will they fail to receive justice in the least little thing.

انظُرْ كَيْفَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ ۖ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦٓ إِثْمًا مُّبِينًا[50]

Onthur kayfa yaftaroona AAala Allahi alkathiba wakafa bihi ithman mubeenan

Regarde comme ils inventent le mensonge à l'encontre d'Allah. Et çà, c'est assez comme péché manifeste!

Behold! how they invent a lie against Allah! but that by itself is a manifest sin!

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ الْكِتَٰبِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْجِبْتِ وَالطَّٰغُوتِ وَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَهْدَىٰ مِنَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ سَبِيلًا[51]

Alam tara ila allatheena ootoo naseeban mina alkitabi yuminoona bialjibti waalttaghooti wayaqooloona lillatheena kafaroo haolai ahda mina allatheena amanoo sabeelan

N'as-tu pas vu ceux-là, à qui une partie du Livre a été donnée, avoir foi à la magie (gibt) et au Tâghhoût, et dire en faveur de ceux qui ne croient pas: «Ceux-là sont mieux guidés (sur le chemin) que ceux qui ont cru»?

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion of the Book? they believe in sorcery and Evil, and say to the Unbelievers that they are better guided in the (right) way Than the believers!

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يَلْعَنِ اللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ نَصِيرًا[52]

Olaika allatheena laAAanahumu Allahu waman yalAAani Allahu falan tajida lahu naseeran

Voilà ceux qu'Allah a maudits; et quiconque Allah maudit, jamais tu ne trouveras pour lui de secoureur.

They are (men) whom Allah hath cursed: And those whom Allah Hath cursed, thou wilt find, have no one to help.

أَمْ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِّنَ الْمُلْكِ فَإِذًا لَّا يُؤْتُونَ النَّاسَ نَقِيرًا[53]

Am lahum naseebun mina almulki faithan la yutoona alnnasa naqeeran

Possèdent-ils une partie du pouvoir? Ils ne donneraient donc rien aux gens, fût-ce le creux d'un noyau de datte.

Have they a share in dominion or power? Behold, they give not a farthing to their fellow-men?

أَمْ يَحْسُدُونَ النَّاسَ عَلَىٰ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۖ فَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ ءَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ الْكِتَٰبَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مُّلْكًا عَظِيمًا[54]

Am yahsudoona alnnasa AAala ma atahumu Allahu min fadlihi faqad atayna ala ibraheema alkitaba waalhikmata waataynahum mulkan AAatheeman

Envient-ils aux gens ce qu'Allah leur a donné de par Sa grâce? Or, Nous avons donné à la famille d'Abraham le Livre et la Sagesse; et Nous leur avons donné un immense royaume.

Or do they envy mankind for what Allah hath given them of his bounty? but We had already given the people of Abraham the Book and Wisdom, and conferred upon them a great kingdom.

فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن صَدَّ عَنْهُ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِجَهَنَّمَ سَعِيرًا[55]

Faminhum man amana bihi waminhum man sadda AAanhu wakafa bijahannama saAAeeran

Certains d'entre eux ont cru en lui, d'autres d'entre eux s'en sont écartés. L'Enfer leur suffira comme flamme (pour y brûler).

Some of them believed, and some of them averted their faces from him: And enough is Hell for a burning fire.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا سَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِمْ نَارًا كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُم بَدَّلْنَٰهُمْ جُلُودًا غَيْرَهَا لِيَذُوقُوا۟ الْعَذَابَ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا[56]

Inna allatheena kafaroo biayatina sawfa nusleehim naran kullama nadijat julooduhum baddalnahum juloodan ghayraha liyathooqoo alAAathaba inna Allaha kana AAazeezan hakeeman

Certes, ceux qui ne croient pas à Nos Versets, (le Coran) Nous les brûlerons bientôt dans le Feu. Chaque fois que leurs peaux auront été consumées, Nous leur donnerons d'autres peaux en échange afin qu'ils goûtent au châtiment. Allah est certes, Puissant et Sage!

Those who reject our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۖ لَّهُمْ فِيهَآ أَزْوَٰجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ ۖ وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلًّا ظَلِيلًا[57]

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati sanudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan lahum feeha azwajun mutahharatun wanudkhiluhum thillan thaleelan

Et quant à ceux qui ont cru et fait de bonnes œuvres, bientôt Nous les ferons entrer aux Jardins sous lesquels coulent des ruisseaux. Ils y demeureront éternellement. Il y aura là pour eux des épouses purifiées. Et Nous les ferons entrer sous un ombrage épais.

But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home: Therein shall they have companions pure and holy: We shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening.

۞ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تُؤَدُّوا۟ الْأَمَٰنَٰتِ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُم بَيْنَ النَّاسِ أَن تَحْكُمُوا۟ بِالْعَدْلِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا[58]

Inna Allaha yamurukum an tuaddoo alamanati ila ahliha waitha hakamtum bayna alnnasi an tahkumoo bialAAadli inna Allaha niAAimma yaAAithukum bihi inna Allaha kana sameeAAan baseeran

Certes, Allah vous commande de rendre les dépôts à leurs ayants-droit, et quand vous jugez entre des gens, de juger avec équité. Quelle bonne exhortation qu'Allah vous fait! Allah est, en vérité, Celui qui entend et qui voit tout.

Allah doth command you to render back your Trusts to those to whom they are due; And when ye judge between man and man, that ye judge with justice: Verily how excellent is the teaching which He giveth you! For Allah is He Who heareth and seeth all things.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ الرَّسُولَ وَأُو۟لِى الْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن تَنَٰزَعْتُمْ فِى شَىْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْءَاخِرِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا[59]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ateeAAoo Allaha waateeAAoo alrrasoola waolee alamri minkum fain tanazaAAtum fee shayin faruddoohu ila Allahi waalrrasooli in kuntum tuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri thalika khayrun waahsanu taweelan

O les croyants! Obéissez à Allah, et obéissez au Messager et à ceux d'entre vous qui détiennent le commandement. Puis, si vous vous disputez en quoi que ce soit, renvoyez-le à Allah et au Messager, si vous croyez en Allah et au Jour dernier. Ce sera bien mieux et de meilleure interprétation (et aboutissement).

O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day: That is best, and most suitable for final determination.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوٓا۟ إِلَى الطَّٰغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوٓا۟ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَٰنُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا[60]

Alam tara ila allatheena yazAAumoona annahum amanoo bima onzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika yureedoona an yatahakamoo ila alttaghooti waqad omiroo an yakfuroo bihi wayureedu alshshaytanu an yudillahum dalalan baAAeedan

N'as-tu pas vu ceux qui prétendent croire à ce qu'on a fait descendre vers toi [prophète] et à ce qu'on a fait descendre avant toi? Ils veulent prendre pour juge le Tâghût, alors que c'est en lui qu'on leur a commandé de ne pas croire. Mais le Diable veut les égarer très loin, dans l'égarement.

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who declare that they believe in the revelations that have come to thee and to those before thee? Their (real) wish is to resort together for judgment (in their disputes) to the Evil One, though they were ordered to reject him. But Satan's wish is to lead them astray far away (from the right).

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَإِلَى الرَّسُولِ رَأَيْتَ الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودًا[61]

Waitha qeela lahum taAAalaw ila ma anzala Allahu waila alrrasooli raayta almunafiqeena yasuddoona AAanka sudoodan

Et lorsqu'on leur dit: «Venez vers ce qu'Allah a fait descendre et vers le Messager», tu vois les hypocrites s'écarter loin de toi.

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed, and to the Messenger": Thou seest the Hypocrites avert their faces from thee in disgust.

فَكَيْفَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ جَآءُوكَ يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْسَٰنًا وَتَوْفِيقًا[62]

Fakayfa itha asabathum museebatun bima qaddamat aydeehim thumma jaooka yahlifoona biAllahi in aradna illa ihsanan watawfeeqan

Comment (agiront-ils) quand un malheur les atteindra, à cause de ce qu'ils ont préparé de leurs propres mains? Puis ils viendront alors près de toi, jurant par Allah: «Nous n'avons voulu que le bien et la réconciliation».

How then, when they are seized by misfortune, because of the deeds which they hands have sent forth? Then their come to thee, swearing by Allah: "We meant no more than good-will and conciliation!"

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ مَا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَعِظْهُمْ وَقُل لَّهُمْ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ قَوْلًۢا بَلِيغًا[63]

Olaika allatheena yaAAlamu Allahu ma fee quloobihim faaAArid AAanhum waAAithhum waqul lahum fee anfusihim qawlan baleeghan

Voilà ceux dont Allah sait ce qu'ils ont dans leurs cœurs. Ne leur tiens donc pas rigueur, exhorte-les, et dis-leur sur eux-mêmes des paroles convaincantes.

Those men,-Allah knows what is in their hearts; so keep clear of them, but admonish them, and speak to them a word to reach their very souls.

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ اللَّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا[64]

Wama arsalna min rasoolin illa liyutaAAa biithni Allahi walaw annahum ith thalamoo anfusahum jaooka faistaghfaroo Allaha waistaghfara lahumu alrrasoolu lawajadoo Allaha tawwaban raheeman

Nous n'avons envoyé de Messager que pour qu'il soit obéi par la permission d'Allah. Si, lorsqu'ils ont fait du tort à leurs propres personnes ils venaient à toi en implorant le pardon d'Allah et si le Messager demandait le pardon pour eux, ils trouveraient, certes, Allah, Très Accueillant au repentir, Miséricordieux.

We sent not a messenger, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful.

فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَرَجًا مِّمَّا قَضَيْتَ وَيُسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا[65]

Fala warabbika la yuminoona hatta yuhakkimooka feema shajara baynahum thumma la yajidoo fee anfusihim harajan mimma qadayta wayusallimoo tasleeman

Non!... Par ton Seigneur! Ils ne seront pas croyants aussi longtemps qu'ils ne t'auront demandé de juger de leurs disputes et qu'ils n'auront éprouvé nulle angoisse pour ce que tu auras décidé, et qu'ils se soumettent complètement [à ta sentence].

But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction.

وَلَوْ أَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ أَوِ اخْرُجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِكُم مَّا فَعَلُوهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا۟ مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا[66]

Walaw anna katabna AAalayhim ani oqtuloo anfusakum awi okhrujoo min diyarikum ma faAAaloohu illa qaleelun minhum walaw annahum faAAaloo ma yooAAathoona bihi lakana khayran lahum waashadda tathbeetan

Si Nous leur avions prescrit ceci: «Tuez-vous vous-mêmes», ou «Sortez de vos demeures», ils ne l'auraient pas fait, sauf un petit nombre d'entre eux. S'ils avaient fait ce à quoi on les exhortait, cela aurait été certainement meilleur pour eux, et (leur foi) aurait été plus affermie.

If We had ordered them to sacrifice their lives or to leave their homes, very few of them would have done it: But if they had done what they were (actually) told, it would have been best for them, and would have gone farthest to strengthen their (faith);

وَإِذًا لَّءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّن لَّدُنَّآ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[67]

Waithan laataynahum min ladunna ajran AAatheeman

Alors Nous leur aurions donné certainement, de Notre part, une grande récompense,

And We should then have given them from our presence a great reward;

وَلَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا[68]

Walahadaynahum siratan mustaqeeman

et Nous les aurions guidé certes, vers un droit chemin.

And We should have shown them the Straight Way.

وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّۦنَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَآءِ وَالصَّٰلِحِينَ ۚ وَحَسُنَ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ رَفِيقًا[69]

Waman yutiAAi Allaha waalrrasoola faolaika maAAa allatheena anAAama Allahu AAalayhim mina alnnabiyyeena waalssiddeeqeena waalshshuhadai waalssaliheena wahasuna olaika rafeeqan

Quiconque obéit à Allah et au Messager... ceux-là seront avec ceux qu'Allah a comblés de Ses bienfaits: les prophètes, les véridiques, les martyrs, et les vertueux. Et quels bons compagnons que ceux-là!

All who obey Allah and the messenger are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful fellowship!

ذَٰلِكَ الْفَضْلُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ عَلِيمًا[70]

Thalika alfadlu mina Allahi wakafa biAllahi AAaleeman

Cette grâce vient d'Allah. Et Allah suffit comme Parfait Connaisseur.

Such is the bounty from Allah: And sufficient is it that Allah knoweth all.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ خُذُوا۟ حِذْرَكُمْ فَانفِرُوا۟ ثُبَاتٍ أَوِ انفِرُوا۟ جَمِيعًا[71]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo khuthoo hithrakum fainfiroo thubatin awi infiroo jameeAAan

O les croyants! Prenez vos précautions et partez en expédition par détachements ou en masse.

O ye who believe! Take your precautions, and either go forth in parties or go forth all together.

وَإِنَّ مِنكُمْ لَمَن لَّيُبَطِّئَنَّ فَإِنْ أَصَٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالَ قَدْ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ إِذْ لَمْ أَكُن مَّعَهُمْ شَهِيدًا[72]

Wainna minkum laman layubattianna fain asabatkum museebatun qala qad anAAama Allahu AAalayya ith lam akun maAAahum shaheedan

Parmi vous, il y aura certes, quelqu'un qui tardera [à aller au combat] et qui, si un malheur vous atteint, dira: «Certes, Allah m'a fait une faveur en ce que je ne me suis pas trouvé en leur compagnie»

There are certainly among you men who would tarry behind: If a misfortune befalls you, they say: "Allah did favour us in that we were not present among them."

وَلَئِنْ أَصَٰبَكُمْ فَضْلٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ لَيَقُولَنَّ كَأَن لَّمْ تَكُنۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُۥ مَوَدَّةٌ يَٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَفُوزَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا[73]

Walain asabakum fadlun mina Allahi layaqoolanna kaan lam takun baynakum wabaynahu mawaddatun ya laytanee kuntu maAAahum faafooza fawzan AAatheeman

et si c'est une grâce qui vous atteint de la part d'Allah, il se mettra, certes, à dire, comme s'il n'y avait aucune affection entre vous et lui: «Quel dommage! Si j'avais été avec eux, j'aurais alors acquis un gain énorme».

But if good fortune comes to you from Allah, they would be sure to say - as if there had never been Ties of affection between you and them - "Oh! I wish I had been with them; a fine thing should I then have made of it!"

۞ فَلْيُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ الْحَيَوٰةَ الدُّنْيَا بِالْءَاخِرَةِ ۚ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[74]

Falyuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi allatheena yashroona alhayata alddunya bialakhirati waman yuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi fayuqtal aw yaghlib fasawfa nuteehi ajran AAatheeman

Qu'ils combattent donc dans le sentier d'Allah, ceux qui troquent la vie présente contre la vie future. Et quiconque combat dans le sentier d'Allah, tué ou vainqueur, Nous lui donnerons bientôt une énorme récompense.

Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value).

وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَآءِ وَالْوِلْدَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَاجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا وَاجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا[75]

Wama lakum la tuqatiloona fee sabeeli Allahi waalmustadAAafeena mina alrrijali waalnnisai waalwildani allatheena yaqooloona rabbana akhrijna min hathihi alqaryati alththalimi ahluha waijAAal lana min ladunka waliyyan waijAAal lana min ladunka naseeran

Et qu'avez-vous à ne pas combattre dans le sentier d'Allah, et pour la cause des faibles: hommes, femmes et enfants qui disent: «Seigneur! Fais-nous sortir de cette cité dont les gens sont injustes, et assigne-nous de Ta part un allié, et assigne-nous de Ta part un secoureur».

And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from Thee one who will protect; and raise for us from Thee one who will help!"

الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ الطَّٰغُوتِ فَقَٰتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَ الشَّيْطَٰنِ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَٰنِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا[76]

Allatheena amanoo yuqatiloona fee sabeeli Allahi waallatheena kafaroo yuqatiloona fee sabeeli alttaghooti faqatiloo awliyaa alshshaytani inna kayda alshshaytani kana daAAeefan

Les croyants combattent dans le sentier d'Allah, et ceux qui ne croient pas combattent dans le sentier du Tâghût. Eh bien, combattez les alliés du Diable, car la ruse du Diable est, certes, faible.

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ قِيلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ الصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ الزَّكَوٰةَ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ أَوْ أَشَدَّ خَشْيَةً ۚ وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا الْقِتَالَ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ ۗ قُلْ مَتَٰعُ الدُّنْيَا قَلِيلٌ وَالْءَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا[77]

Alam tara ila allatheena qeela lahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawna alnnasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashadda khashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalayna alqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalin qareebin qul mataAAu alddunya qaleelun waalakhiratu khayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoona fateelan

N'as-tu pas vu ceux auxquels on avait dit: «Abstenez-vous de combattre, accomplissez la Salât et acquittez la Zakât!» Puis lorsque le combat leur fut prescrit, voilà qu'une partie d'entre eux se mit à craindre les gens comme on craint Allah, ou même d'une crainte plus forte encore, et à dire: «O notre Seigneur! Pourquoi nous as-Tu prescrit le combat? Pourquoi n'as-Tu pas reporté cela à un peu plus tard?» Dis: «La jouissance d'ici-bas est éphémère, mais la vie future est meilleure pour quiconque est pieux. Et on ne vous lésera pas, fût-ce d'un brin de noyau de datte.

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were told to hold back their hands (from fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as - or even more than - they should have feared Allah: They said: "Our Lord! Why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite to our (natural) term, near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: Never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least!

أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا۟ يُدْرِككُّمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ ۗ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ يَقُولُوا۟ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَقُولُوا۟ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِكَ ۚ قُلْ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ۖ فَمَالِ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ الْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا[78]

Aynama takoonoo yudrikkumu almawtu walaw kuntum fee buroojin mushayyadatin wain tusibhum hasanatun yaqooloo hathihi min AAindi Allahi wain tusibhum sayyiatun yaqooloo hathihi min AAindika qul kullun min AAindi Allahi famali haolai alqawmi la yakadoona yafqahoona hadeethan

Où que vous soyez, la mort vous atteindra, fussiez-vous dans des tours imprenables. Qu'un bien les atteigne, ils disent: «C'est de la part d'Allah.» Qu'un mal les atteigne, ils disent: «C'est dû à toi (Muhammad).» Dis: «Tout est d'Allah.» Mais qu'ont-ils ces gens, à ne comprendre presque aucune parole?

"Wherever ye are, death will find you out, even if ye are in towers built up strong and high!" If some good befalls them, they say, "This is from Allah"; but if evil, they say, "This is from thee" (O Prophet). Say: "All things are from Allah." But what hath come to these people, that they fail to understand a single fact?

مَّآ أَصَابَكَ مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ فَمِنَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَمَآ أَصَابَكَ مِن سَيِّئَةٍ فَمِن نَّفْسِكَ ۚ وَأَرْسَلْنَٰكَ لِلنَّاسِ رَسُولًا ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا[79]

Ma asabaka min hasanatin famina Allahi wama asabaka min sayyiatin famin nafsika waarsalnaka lilnnasi rasoolan wakafa biAllahi shaheedan

Tout bien qui t'atteint vient d'Allah, et tout mal qui t'atteint vient de toi-même. Et nous t'avons envoyé aux gens comme Messager. Et Allah suffit comme témoin.

Whatever good, (O man!) happens to thee, is from Allah; but whatever evil happens to thee, is from thy (own) soul. and We have sent thee as a messenger to (instruct) mankind. And enough is Allah for a witness.

مَّن يُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ ۖ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا[80]

Man yutiAAi alrrasoola faqad ataAAa Allaha waman tawalla fama arsalnaka AAalayhim hafeethan

Quiconque obéit au Messager obéit certainement à Allah. Et quiconque tourne le dos... Nous ne t'avons pas envoyé à eux comme gardien.

He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah: But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds).

وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٌ فَإِذَا بَرَزُوا۟ مِنْ عِندِكَ بَيَّتَ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ غَيْرَ الَّذِى تَقُولُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَ ۖ فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا[81]

Wayaqooloona taAAatun faitha barazoo min AAindika bayyata taifatun minhum ghayra allathee taqoolu waAllahu yaktubu ma yubayyitoona faaAArid AAanhum watawakkal AAala Allahi wakafa biAllahi wakeelan

Ils disent: «Obéissance!» Puis, sitôt sortis de chez toi, une partie d'entre eux délibère au cours de la nuit de tout autre chose que ce qu'elle t'a dit. [Cependant] Allah enregistre ce qu'ils font la nuit. Pardonne-leur donc et place ta confiance en Allah. Et Allah suffit comme Protecteur.

They have "Obedience" on their lips; but when they leave thee, a section of them Meditate all night on things very different from what thou tellest them. But Allah records their nightly (plots): So keep clear of them, and put thy trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْءَانَ ۚ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ اللَّهِ لَوَجَدُوا۟ فِيهِ اخْتِلَٰفًا كَثِيرًا[82]

Afala yatadabbaroona alqurana walaw kana min AAindi ghayri Allahi lawajadoo feehi ikhtilafan katheeran

Ne méditent-ils donc pas sur le Coran? S'il provenait d'un autre qu'Allah, ils y trouveraient certes maintes contradictions!

Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy.

وَإِذَا جَآءَهُمْ أَمْرٌ مِّنَ الْأَمْنِ أَوِ الْخَوْفِ أَذَاعُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَإِلَىٰٓ أُو۟لِى الْأَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَنۢبِطُونَهُۥ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُ الشَّيْطَٰنَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا[83]

Waitha jaahum amrun mina alamni awi alkhawfi athaAAoo bihi walaw raddoohu ila alrrasooli waila olee alamri minhum laAAalimahu allatheena yastanbitoonahu minhum walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu laittabaAAtumu alshshaytana illa qaleelan

Quand leur parvient une nouvelle rassurante ou alarmante, ils la diffusent. S'ils la rapportaient au Messager et aux détenteurs du commandement parmi eux, ceux d'entre eux qui cherchent à être éclairés, auraient appris (la vérité de la bouche du Prophète et des détenteurs du commandement). Et n'eussent été la grâce d'Allah sur vous et Sa miséricorde, vous auriez suivi le Diable, à part quelques-uns.

When there comes to them some matter touching (Public) safety or fear, they divulge it. If they had only referred it to the Messenger, or to those charged with authority among them, the proper investigators would have Tested it from them (direct). Were it not for the Grace and Mercy of Allah unto you, all but a few of you would have fallen into the clutches of Satan.

فَقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ إِلَّا نَفْسَكَ ۚ وَحَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَكُفَّ بَأْسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ وَاللَّهُ أَشَدُّ بَأْسًا وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلًا[84]

Faqatil fee sabeeli Allahi la tukallafu illa nafsaka waharridi almumineena AAasa Allahu an yakuffa basa allatheena kafaroo waAllahu ashaddu basan waashaddu tankeelan

Combats donc dans le sentier d'Allah, tu n'es responsable que de toi même, et incite les croyants (au combat) Allah arrêtera certes la violence des mécréants. Allah est plus redoutable en force et plus sévère en punition.

Then fight in Allah's cause - Thou art held responsible only for thyself - and rouse the believers. It may be that Allah will restrain the fury of the Unbelievers; for Allah is the strongest in might and in punishment.

مَّن يَشْفَعْ شَفَٰعَةً حَسَنَةً يَكُن لَّهُۥ نَصِيبٌ مِّنْهَا ۖ وَمَن يَشْفَعْ شَفَٰعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَكُن لَّهُۥ كِفْلٌ مِّنْهَا ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّقِيتًا[85]

Man yashfaAA shafaAAatan hasanatan yakun lahu naseebun minha waman yashfaAA shafaAAatan sayyiatan yakun lahu kiflun minha wakana Allahu AAala kulli shayin muqeetan

Quiconque intercède d'une bonne intercession, en aura une part; et quiconque intercède d'une mauvaise intercession en portera une part de responsabilité. Et Allah est Puissant sur toute chose.

Whoever recommends and helps a good cause becomes a partner therein: And whoever recommends and helps an evil cause, shares in its burden: And Allah hath power over all things.

وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا۟ بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَآ أَوْ رُدُّوهَآ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَسِيبًا[86]

Waitha huyyeetum bitahiyyatin fahayyoo biahsana minha aw ruddooha inna Allaha kana AAala kulli shayin haseeban

Si on vous fait une salutation, saluez d'une façon meilleure; ou bien rendez-la (simplement). Certes, Allah tient compte de tout.

When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. Allah takes careful account of all things.

اللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۗ وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حَدِيثًا[87]

Allahu la ilaha illa huwa layajmaAAannakum ila yawmi alqiyamati la rayba feehi waman asdaqu mina Allahi hadeethan

Allah! Pas de divinité à part Lui! Très certainement Il vous rassemblera au Jour de la Résurrection, point de doute là-dessus. Et qui est plus véridique qu'Allah en parole?

Allah! There is no god but He: of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than Allah's?

۞ فَمَا لَكُمْ فِى الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَاللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓا۟ ۚ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهْدُوا۟ مَنْ أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا[88]

Fama lakum fee almunafiqeena fiatayni waAllahu arkasahum bima kasaboo atureedoona an tahdoo man adalla Allahu waman yudlili Allahu falan tajida lahu sabeelan

Qu'avez-vous à vous diviser en deux factions au sujet des hypocrites? Alors qu'Allah les a refoulés (dans leur infidélité) pour ce qu'ils ont acquis. Voulez-vous guider ceux qu'Allah égare? Et quiconque Allah égare, tu ne lui trouveras pas de chemin (pour le ramener).

Why should ye be divided into two parties about the Hypocrites? Allah hath upset them for their (evil) deeds. Would ye guide those whom Allah hath thrown out of the Way? For those whom Allah hath thrown out of the Way, never shalt thou find the Way.

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً ۖ فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا[89]

Waddoo law takfuroona kama kafaroo fatakoonoona sawaan fala tattakhithoo minhum awliyaa hatta yuhajiroo fee sabeeli Allahi fain tawallaw fakhuthoohum waoqtuloohum haythu wajadtumoohum wala tattakhithoo minhum waliyyan wala naseeran

Ils aimeraient vous voir mécréants comme ils ont mécru: alors vous seriez tous égaux! Ne prenez donc pas d'alliés parmi eux, jusqu'à ce qu'ils émigrent dans le sentier d'Allah. Mais s'ils tournent le dos, saisissez-les alors, et tuez-les où que vous les trouviez; et ne prenez parmi eux ni allié ni secoureur,

They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ أَوْ جَآءُوكُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُورُهُمْ أَن يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ أَوْ يُقَٰتِلُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقَٰتَلُوكُمْ ۚ فَإِنِ اعْتَزَلُوكُمْ فَلَمْ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ فَمَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبِيلًا[90]

Illa allatheena yasiloona ila qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun aw jaookum hasirat sudooruhum an yuqatilookum aw yuqatiloo qawmahum walaw shaa Allahu lasallatahum AAalaykum falaqatalookum faini iAAtazalookum falam yuqatilookum waalqaw ilaykumu alssalama fama jaAAala Allahu lakum AAalayhim sabeelan

excepté ceux qui se joignent à un groupe avec lequel vous avez conclu une alliance, ou ceux qui viennent chez vous, le cœur serré d'avoir à vous combattre ou à combattre leur propre tribu. Si Allah avait voulu, Il leur aurait donné l'audace (et la force) contre vous, et ils vous auraient certainement combattu. (Par conséquent,) s'ils restent neutres à votre égard et ne vous combattent point, et qu'ils vous offrent la paix, alors, Allah ne vous donne pas de chemin contre eux.

Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them).

سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى الْفِتْنَةِ أُرْكِسُوا۟ فِيهَا ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ ۚ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا[91]

Satajidoona akhareena yureedoona an yamanookum wayamanoo qawmahum kulla ma ruddoo ila alfitnati orkisoo feeha fain lam yaAAtazilookum wayulqoo ilaykumu alssalama wayakuffoo aydiyahum fakhuthoohum waoqtuloohum haythu thaqiftumoohum waolaikum jaAAalna lakum AAalayhim sultanan mubeenan

Vous en trouverez d'autres qui cherchent à avoir votre confiance, et en même temps la confiance de leur propre tribu. Toutes les fois qu'on les pousse vers l'Association, (l'idolâtrie) ils y retombent en masse. (Par conséquent,) s'ils ne restent pas neutres à votre égard, ne vous offrent pas la paix et ne retiennent pas leurs mains (de vous combattre), alors, saisissez-les et tuez les où que vous les trouviez. Contre ceux-ci, Nous vous avons donné une autorité manifeste.

Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them.

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَـًٔا ۚ وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَـًٔا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا۟ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[92]

Wama kana limuminin an yaqtula muminan illa khataan waman qatala muminan khataan fatahreeru raqabatin muminatin wadiyatun musallamatun ila ahlihi illa an yassaddaqoo fain kana min qawmin AAaduwwin lakum wahuwa muminun fatahreeru raqabatin muminatin wain kana min qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun fadiyatun musallamatun ila ahlihi watahreeru raqabatin muminatin faman lam yajid fasiyamu shahrayni mutatabiAAayni tawbatan mina Allahi wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeeman

Il n'appartient pas à un croyant de tuer un autre croyant, si ce n'est par erreur. Quiconque tue par erreur un croyant, qu'il affranchisse alors un esclave croyant et remette à sa famille le prix du sang, à moins que celle-ci n'y renonce par charité. Mais si [le tué] appartenait à un peuple ennemi à vous et qu'il soit croyant, qu'on affranchisse alors un esclave croyant. S'il appartenait à un peuple auquel vous êtes liés par un pacte, qu'on verse alors à sa famille le prix du sang et qu'on affranchisse un esclave croyant. Celui qui n'en trouve pas les moyens, qu'il jeûne deux mois d'affilée pour être pardonné par Allah. Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.

وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآؤُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُۥ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُۥ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا[93]

Waman yaqtul muminan mutaAAammidan fajazaohu jahannamu khalidan feeha waghadiba Allahu AAalayhi walaAAanahu waaAAadda lahu AAathaban AAatheeman

Quiconque tue intentionnellement un croyant, Sa rétribution alors sera l'Enfer, pour y demeurer éternellement. Allah l'a frappé de Sa colère, l'a maudit et lui a préparé un énorme châtiment.

If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا۟ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَنْ أَلْقَىٰٓ إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَٰمَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيَوٰةِ الدُّنْيَا فَعِندَ اللَّهِ مَغَانِمُ كَثِيرَةٌ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كُنتُم مِّن قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا[94]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha darabtum fee sabeeli Allahi fatabayyanoo wala taqooloo liman alqa ilaykumu alssalama lasta muminan tabtaghoona AAarada alhayati alddunya faAAinda Allahi maghanimu katheeratun kathalika kuntum min qablu famanna Allahu AAalaykum fatabayyanoo inna Allaha kana bima taAAmaloona khabeeran

O les croyants! Lorsque vous sortez pour lutter dans le sentier d'Allah, voyez bien clair (ne vous hâtez pas) et ne dites pas à quiconque vous adresse le salut (de l'Islam): «Tu n'es pas croyant», convoitant les biens de la vie d'ici-bas. Or c'est auprès d'Allah qu'il y a beaucoup de butin. C'est ainsi que vous étiez auparavant; puis Allah vous a accordé Sa grâce. Voyez donc bien clair. Allah est, certes, Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites.

O ye who believe! When ye go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and say not to any one who offers you a salutation: "Thou art none of a believer!" Coveting the perishable goods of this life: with Allah are profits and spoils abundant. Even thus were ye yourselves before, till Allah conferred on you His favours: Therefore carefully investigate. For Allah is well aware of all that ye do.

لَّا يَسْتَوِى الْقَٰعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُو۟لِى الضَّرَرِ وَالْمُجَٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ الْمُجَٰهِدِينَ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ عَلَى الْقَٰعِدِينَ دَرَجَةً ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَفَضَّلَ اللَّهُ الْمُجَٰهِدِينَ عَلَى الْقَٰعِدِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[95]

La yastawee alqaAAidoona mina almumineena ghayru olee alddarari waalmujahidoona fee sabeeli Allahi biamwalihim waanfusihim faddala Allahu almujahideena biamwalihim waanfusihim AAala alqaAAideena darajatan wakullan waAAada Allahu alhusna wafaddala Allahu almujahideena AAala alqaAAideena ajran AAatheeman

Ne sont pas égaux ceux des croyants qui restent chez eux - sauf ceux qui ont quelque infirmité - et ceux qui luttent corps et biens dans le sentier d'Allah. Allah donne à ceux qui luttent corps et biens un grade d'excellence sur ceux qui restent chez eux. Et à chacun Allah a promis la meilleure récompense; et Allah a mis les combattants au-dessus des non combattants en leur accordant une rétribution immense;

Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-

دَرَجَٰتٍ مِّنْهُ وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرَحْمَةً ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[96]

Darajatin minhu wamaghfiratan warahmatan wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

des grades de supériorité de Sa part ainsi qu'un pardon et une miséricorde. Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

Ranks specially bestowed by Him, and Forgiveness and Mercy. For Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ الْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا۟ فِيمَ كُنتُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ كُنَّا مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ فِى الْأَرْضِ ۚ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ تَكُنْ أَرْضُ اللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةً فَتُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِيهَا ۚ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا[97]

Inna allatheena tawaffahumu almalaikatu thalimee anfusihim qaloo feema kuntum qaloo kunna mustadAAafeena fee alardi qaloo alam takun ardu Allahi wasiAAatan fatuhajiroo feeha faolaika mawahum jahannamu wasaat maseeran

Ceux qui ont fait du tort à eux-mêmes, les Anges enlèveront leurs âmes en disant: «Où en étiez-vous?» (à propos de votre religion) - «Nous étions impuissants sur terre», dirent-ils. Alors les Anges diront: «La terre d'Allah n'était-elle pas assez vaste pour vous permettre d'émigrer?» Voilà bien ceux dont le refuge est l'Enfer. Et quelle mauvaise destination!

When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -

إِلَّا الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَآءِ وَالْوِلْدَٰنِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلًا[98]

Illa almustadAAafeena mina alrrijali waalnnisai waalwildani la yastateeAAoona heelatan wala yahtadoona sabeelan

A l'exception des impuissants: hommes, femmes et enfants, incapables de se débrouiller, et qui ne trouvent aucune voie:

Except those who are (really) weak and oppressed - men, women, and children - who have no means in their power, nor (a guide-post) to their way.

فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَعْفُوَ عَنْهُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا[99]

Faolaika AAasa Allahu an yaAAfuwa AAanhum wakana Allahu AAafuwwan ghafooran

A ceux-là, il se peut qu'Allah donne le pardon. Allah est Clément et Pardonneur.

For these, there is hope that Allah will forgive: For Allah doth blot out (sins) and forgive again and again.

۞ وَمَن يُهَاجِرْ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يَجِدْ فِى الْأَرْضِ مُرَٰغَمًا كَثِيرًا وَسَعَةً ۚ وَمَن يَخْرُجْ مِنۢ بَيْتِهِۦ مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ يُدْرِكْهُ الْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ أَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[100]

Waman yuhajir fee sabeeli Allahi yajid fee alardi muraghaman katheeran wasaAAatan waman yakhruj min baytihi muhajiran ila Allahi warasoolihi thumma yudrikhu almawtu faqad waqaAAa ajruhu AAala Allahi wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Et quiconque émigre dans le sentier d'Allah trouvera sur terre maints refuges et abondance. Et quiconque sort de sa maison, émigrant vers Allah et Son messager, et que la mort atteint, sa récompense incombe à Allah. Et Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds in the earth Many a refuge, wide and spacious: Should he die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, His reward becomes due and sure with Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَإِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى الْأَرْضِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَقْصُرُوا۟ مِنَ الصَّلَوٰةِ إِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَن يَفْتِنَكُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ الْكَٰفِرِينَ كَانُوا۟ لَكُمْ عَدُوًّا مُّبِينًا[101]

Waitha darabtum fee alardi falaysa AAalaykum junahun an taqsuroo mina alssalati in khiftum an yaftinakumu allatheena kafaroo inna alkafireena kanoo lakum AAaduwwan mubeenan

Et quand vous parcourez la terre, ce n'est pas un péché pour vous de raccourcir la Salât, si vous craignez que les mécréants ne vous mettent à l'épreuve, car les mécréants demeurent pour vous un ennemi déclaré.

When ye travel through the earth, there is no blame on you if ye shorten your prayers, for fear the Unbelievers May attack you: For the Unbelievers are unto you open enemies.

وَإِذَا كُنتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلَوٰةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُم مَّعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوٓا۟ أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ فَإِذَا سَجَدُوا۟ فَلْيَكُونُوا۟ مِن وَرَآئِكُمْ وَلْتَأْتِ طَآئِفَةٌ أُخْرَىٰ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا۟ فَلْيُصَلُّوا۟ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوا۟ حِذْرَهُمْ وَأَسْلِحَتَهُمْ ۗ وَدَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ أَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيْكُم مَّيْلَةً وَٰحِدَةً ۚ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِن كَانَ بِكُمْ أَذًى مِّن مَّطَرٍ أَوْ كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَن تَضَعُوٓا۟ أَسْلِحَتَكُمْ ۖ وَخُذُوا۟ حِذْرَكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا[102]

Waitha kunta feehim faaqamta lahumu alssalata faltaqum taifatun minhum maAAaka walyakhuthoo aslihatahum faitha sajadoo falyakoonoo min waraikum waltati taifatun okhra lam yusalloo falyusalloo maAAaka walyakhuthoo hithrahum waaslihatahum wadda allatheena kafaroo law taghfuloona AAan aslihatikum waamtiAAatikum fayameeloona AAalaykum maylatan wahidatan wala junaha AAalaykum in kana bikum athan min matarin aw kuntum marda an tadaAAoo aslihatakum wakhuthoo hithrakum inna Allaha aAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban muheenan

Et lorsque tu (Muhammad) te trouves parmi eux, et que tu les diriges dans la Salât, qu'un groupe d'entre eux se mette debout en ta compagnie, en gardant leurs armes. Puis lorsqu'ils ont terminé la prosternation, qu'ils passent derrière vous et que vienne l'autre groupe, ceux qui n'ont pas encore célébré la Salât. A ceux-ci alors d'accomplir la Salât avec toi, prenant leurs précautions et leurs armes. Les mécréants aimeraient vous voir négliger vos armes et vos bagages, afin de tomber sur vous en une seule masse. Vous ne commettez aucun péché si, incommodés par la pluie ou malades, vous déposez vos armes; cependant prenez garde. Certes, Allah a préparé pour les mécréants un châtiment avilissant.

When thou (O Messenger) art with them, and standest to lead them in prayer, Let one party of them stand up (in prayer) with thee, Taking their arms with them: When they finish their prostrations, let them Take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up which hath not yet prayed - and let them pray with thee, Taking all precaution, and bearing arms: the Unbelievers wish, if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a single rush. But there is no blame on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment.

فَإِذَا قَضَيْتُمُ الصَّلَوٰةَ فَاذْكُرُوا۟ اللَّهَ قِيَٰمًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِكُمْ ۚ فَإِذَا اطْمَأْنَنتُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ الصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ إِنَّ الصَّلَوٰةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَٰبًا مَّوْقُوتًا[103]

Faitha qadaytumu alssalata faothkuroo Allaha qiyaman waquAAoodan waAAala junoobikum faitha itmanantum faaqeemoo alssalata inna alssalata kanat AAala almumineena kitaban mawqootan

Quand vous avez accompli la Salât, invoquez le nom d'Allah, debout, assis ou couchés sur vos côtés. Puis lorsque vous êtes en sécurité, accomplissez la Salât (normalement), car la Salât demeure, pour les croyants, une prescription, à des temps déterminés.

When ye pass (Congregational) prayers, celebrate Allah's praises, standing, sitting down, or lying down on your sides; but when ye are free from danger, set up Regular Prayers: For such prayers are enjoined on believers at stated times.

وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ فِى ابْتِغَآءِ الْقَوْمِ ۖ إِن تَكُونُوا۟ تَأْلَمُونَ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ كَمَا تَأْلَمُونَ ۖ وَتَرْجُونَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَرْجُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[104]

Wala tahinoo fee ibtighai alqawmi in takoonoo talamoona fainnahum yalamoona kama talamoona watarjoona mina Allahi ma la yarjoona wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeeman

Ne faiblissez pas dans la poursuite du peuple [ennemi]. Si vous souffrez, lui aussi souffre comme vous souffrez, tandis que vous espérez d'Allah ce qu'il n'espère pas. Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

And slacken not in following up the enemy: If ye are suffering hardships, they are suffering similar hardships; but ye have Hope from Allah, while they have none. And Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَٰبَ بِالْحَقِّ لِتَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِمَآ أَرَىٰكَ اللَّهُ ۚ وَلَا تَكُن لِّلْخَآئِنِينَ خَصِيمًا[105]

Inna anzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqi litahkuma bayna alnnasi bima araka Allahu wala takun lilkhaineena khaseeman

Nous avons fait descendre vers toi le Livre avec la vérité, pour que tu juges entre les gens, selon ce qu'Allah t'a appris. Et ne te fais pas l'avocat des traîtres.

We have sent down to thee the Book in truth, that thou mightest judge between men, as guided by Allah: so be not (used) as an advocate by those who betray their trust;

وَاسْتَغْفِرِ اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[106]

Waistaghfiri Allaha inna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman

Et implore d'Allah le pardon car Allah est certes Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

But seek the forgiveness of Allah; for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَلَا تُجَٰدِلْ عَنِ الَّذِينَ يَخْتَانُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ خَوَّانًا أَثِيمًا[107]

Wala tujadil AAani allatheena yakhtanoona anfusahum inna Allaha la yuhibbu man kana khawwanan atheeman

Et ne dispute pas en faveur de ceux qui se trahissent eux-mêmes. Allah, vraiment, n'aime pas le traître et le pécheur.

Contend not on behalf of such as betray their own souls; for Allah loveth not one given to perfidy and crime:

يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مَعَهُمْ إِذْ يُبَيِّتُونَ مَا لَا يَرْضَىٰ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطًا[108]

Yastakhfoona mina alnnasi wala yastakhfoona mina Allahi wahuwa maAAahum ith yubayyitoona ma la yarda mina alqawli wakana Allahu bima yaAAmaloona muheetan

Ils cherchent à se cacher des gens, mais ils ne cherchent pas à se cacher d'Allah. Or, Il est avec eux quand ils tiennent la nuit des paroles qu'Il (Allah) n'agrée pas. Et Allah ne cesse de cerner (par Sa science) ce qu'ils font.

They may hide (Their crimes) from men, but they cannot hide (Them) from Allah, seeing that He is in their midst when they plot by night, in words that He cannot approve: And Allah Doth compass round all that they do.

هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ جَٰدَلْتُمْ عَنْهُمْ فِى الْحَيَوٰةِ الدُّنْيَا فَمَن يُجَٰدِلُ اللَّهَ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ أَم مَّن يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا[109]

Haantum haolai jadaltum AAanhum fee alhayati alddunya faman yujadilu Allaha AAanhum yawma alqiyamati am man yakoonu AAalayhim wakeelan

Voilà les gens en faveur desquels vous disputez dans la vie présente. Mais qui va disputer pour eux devant Allah au Jour de la Résurrection? Ou bien qui sera leur protecteur?

Ah! These are the sort of men on whose behalf ye may contend in this world; but who will contend with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Judgment, or who will carry their affairs through?

وَمَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ اللَّهَ يَجِدِ اللَّهَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[110]

Waman yaAAmal sooan aw yathlim nafsahu thumma yastaghfiri Allaha yajidi Allaha ghafooran raheeman

Quiconque agit mal ou fait du tort à lui-même, puis aussitôt implore d'Allah le pardon, trouvera Allah Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

If any one does evil or wrongs his own soul but afterwards seeks Allah's forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَمَن يَكْسِبْ إِثْمًا فَإِنَّمَا يَكْسِبُهُۥ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[111]

Waman yaksib ithman fainnama yaksibuhu AAala nafsihi wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeeman

Quiconque acquiert un péché, ne l'acquiert que contre lui-même. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

And if any one earns sin. he earns it against His own soul: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

وَمَن يَكْسِبْ خَطِيٓـَٔةً أَوْ إِثْمًا ثُمَّ يَرْمِ بِهِۦ بَرِيٓـًٔا فَقَدِ احْتَمَلَ بُهْتَٰنًا وَإِثْمًا مُّبِينًا[112]

Waman yaksib khateeatan aw ithman thumma yarmi bihi bareean faqadi ihtamala buhtanan waithman mubeenan

Et quiconque acquiert une faute ou un péché puis en accuse un innocent, se rend coupable alors d'une injustice et d'un péché manifeste.

But if any one earns a fault or a sin and throws it on to one that is innocent, He carries (on himself) (Both) a falsehood and a flagrant sin.

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ لَهَمَّت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُضِلُّوكَ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۖ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ وَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَٰبَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تَكُن تَعْلَمُ ۚ وَكَانَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ عَظِيمًا[113]

Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalayka warahmatuhu lahammat taifatun minhum an yudillooka wama yudilloona illa anfusahum wama yadurroonaka min shayin waanzala Allahu AAalayka alkitaba waalhikmata waAAallamaka ma lam takun taAAlamu wakana fadlu Allahi AAalayka AAatheeman

Et n'eût été la grâce d'Allah sur toi (Muhammad) et Sa miséricorde, une partie d'entre eux t'aurait bien volontiers égaré. Mais ils n'égarent qu'eux-mêmes, et ne peuvent en rien te nuire. Allah a fait descendre sur toi le Livre et la Sagesse, et t'a enseigné ce que tu ne savais pas. Et la grâce d'Allah sur toi est immense.

But for the Grace of Allah to thee and his Mercy, a party of them would certainly have plotted to lead thee astray. But (in fact) they will only Lead their own souls astray, and to thee they can do no harm in the least. For Allah hath sent down to thee the Book and wisdom and taught thee what thou Knewest not (before): And great is the Grace of Allah unto thee.

۞ لَّا خَيْرَ فِى كَثِيرٍ مِّن نَّجْوَىٰهُمْ إِلَّا مَنْ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَوْ مَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ إِصْلَٰحٍۭ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ ۚ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ ابْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللَّهِ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[114]

La khayra fee katheerin min najwahum illa man amara bisadaqatin aw maAAroofin aw islahin bayna alnnasi waman yafAAal thalika ibtighaa mardati Allahi fasawfa nuteehi ajran AAatheeman

Il n'y a rien de bon dans la plus grande partie de leurs conversations secrètes, sauf si l'un d'eux ordonne une charité, une bonne action, ou une conciliation entre les gens. Et quiconque le fait, cherchant l'agrément d'Allah, à celui-là Nous donnerons bientôt une récompense énorme.

In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men, (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value).

وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدَىٰ وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّهِۦ مَا تَوَلَّىٰ وَنُصْلِهِۦ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا[115]

Waman yushaqiqi alrrasoola min baAAdi ma tabayyana lahu alhuda wayattabiAA ghayra sabeeli almumineena nuwallihi ma tawalla wanuslihi jahannama wasaat maseeran

Et quiconque fait scission d'avec le Messager, après que le droit chemin lui est apparu et suit un sentier autre que celui des croyants, alors Nous le laisserons comme il s'est détourné, et le brûlerons dans l'Enfer. Et quelle mauvaise destination!

If anyone contends with the Messenger even after guidance has been plainly conveyed to him, and follows a path other than that becoming to men of Faith, We shall leave him in the path he has chosen, and land him in Hell,- what an evil refuge!

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا[116]

Inna Allaha la yaghfiru an yushraka bihi wayaghfiru ma doona thalika liman yashao waman yushrik biAllahi faqad dalla dalalan baAAeedan

Certes, Allah ne pardonne pas qu'on Lui donne des associés. A part cela, Il pardonne à qui Il veut. Quiconque donne des associés à Allah s'égare, très loin dans l'égarement.

Allah forgiveth not (The sin of) joining other gods with Him; but He forgiveth whom He pleaseth other sins than this: one who joins other gods with Allah, Hath strayed far, far away (from the right).

إِن يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ إِنَٰثًا وَإِن يَدْعُونَ إِلَّا شَيْطَٰنًا مَّرِيدًا[117]

In yadAAoona min doonihi illa inathan wain yadAAoona illa shaytanan mareedan

Ce ne sont que des femelles qu'ils invoquent, en dehors de Lui. Et ce n'est qu'un diable rebelle qu'ils invoquent.

(The Pagans), leaving Him, call but upon female deities: They call but upon satan the persistent rebel!

لَّعَنَهُ اللَّهُ ۘ وَقَالَ لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا[118]

LaAAanahu Allahu waqala laattakhithanna min AAibadika naseeban mafroodan

Allah l'a (le Diable) maudit et celui-ci a dit: «Certainement, je saisirai parmi Tes serviteurs, une partie déterminée.

Allah did curse him, but he said: "I will take of Thy servants a portion Marked off;

وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ الْأَنْعَٰمِ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ الشَّيْطَٰنَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا[119]

Walaodillannahum walaomanniyannahum walaamurannahum falayubattikunna athana alanAAami walaamurannahum falayughayyirunna khalqa Allahi waman yattakhithi alshshaytana waliyyan min dooni Allahi faqad khasira khusranan mubeenan

Certes, je ne manquerai pas de les égarer, je leur donnerai de faux espoirs, je leur commanderai, et ils fendront les oreilles aux bestiaux; je leur commanderai, et ils altèreront la création d'Allah. Et quiconque prend le Diable pour allié au lieu d'Allah, sera, certes, voué à une perte évidente.

"I will mislead them, and I will create in them false desires; I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and to deface the (fair) nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest.

يَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ ۖ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا[120]

YaAAiduhum wayumanneehim wama yaAAiduhumu alshshaytanu illa ghurooran

Il leur fait des promesses et leur donne de faux espoirs. Et le Diable ne leur fait que des promesses trompeuses.

Satan makes them promises, and creates in them false desires; but satan's promises are nothing but deception.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ عَنْهَا مَحِيصًا[121]

Olaika mawahum jahannamu wala yajidoona AAanha maheesan

Voilà ceux dont le refuge est l'Enfer. Et ils ne trouveront aucun moyen d'y échapper!

They (his dupes) will have their dwelling in Hell, and from it they will find no way of escape.

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۖ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقًّا ۚ وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ قِيلًا[122]

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati sanudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan waAAda Allahi haqqan waman asdaqu mina Allahi qeelan

Et quant à ceux qui ont cru et fait de bonnes œuvres, Nous les ferons entrer bientôt aux Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, pour y demeurer éternellement. Promesse d'Allah en vérité. Et qui est plus véridique qu'Allah en parole?

But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness,- we shall soon admit them to gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,-to dwell therein for ever. Allah's promise is the truth, and whose word can be truer than Allah's?

لَّيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَآ أَمَانِىِّ أَهْلِ الْكِتَٰبِ ۗ مَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا يُجْزَ بِهِۦ وَلَا يَجِدْ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا[123]

Laysa biamaniyyikum wala amaniyyi ahli alkitabi man yaAAmal sooan yujza bihi wala yajid lahu min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseeran

Ceci ne dépend ni de vos désirs ni des désirs des gens du Livre. Quiconque fait un mal sera rétribué pour cela, et ne trouvera en sa faveur, hors d'Allah, ni allié ni secoureur.

Not your desires, nor those of the People of the Book (can prevail): whoever works evil, will be requited accordingly. Nor will he find, besides Allah, any protector or helper.

وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا[124]

Waman yaAAmal mina alssalihati min thakarin aw ontha wahuwa muminun faolaika yadkhuloona aljannata wala yuthlamoona naqeeran

Et quiconque, homme ou femme, fait de bonnes œuvres, tout en étant croyant... les voilà ceux qui entreront au Paradis; et on ne leur fera aucune injustice, fût-ce d'un creux de noyau de datte.

If any do deeds of righteousness,- be they male or female - and have faith, they will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them.

وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ دِينًا مِّمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ وَاتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا ۗ وَاتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ خَلِيلًا[125]

Waman ahsanu deenan mimman aslama wajhahu lillahi wahuwa muhsinun waittabaAAa millata ibraheema haneefan waittakhatha Allahu ibraheema khaleelan

Qui est meilleur en religion que celui qui soumet à Allah son être, tout en se conformant à la Loi révélée et suivant la religion d'Abraham, homme de droiture? Et Allah avait pris Abraham pour ami privilégié.

Who can be better in religion than one who submits his whole self to Allah, does good, and follows the way of Abraham the true in Faith? For Allah did take Abraham for a friend.

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّحِيطًا[126]

Walillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wakana Allahu bikulli shayin muheetan

C'est à Allah qu'appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. Et Allah embrasse toute chose (de Sa science et de Sa puissance).

But to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And He it is that Encompasseth all things.

وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِى النِّسَآءِ ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى الْكِتَٰبِ فِى يَتَٰمَى النِّسَآءِ الَّٰتِى لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْوِلْدَٰنِ وَأَن تَقُومُوا۟ لِلْيَتَٰمَىٰ بِالْقِسْطِ ۚ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمًا[127]

Wayastaftoonaka fee alnnisai quli Allahu yufteekum feehinna wama yutla AAalaykum fee alkitabi fee yatama alnnisai allatee la tutoonahunna ma kutiba lahunna watarghaboona an tankihoohunna waalmustadAAafeena mina alwildani waan taqoomoo lilyatama bialqisti wama tafAAaloo min khayrin fainna Allaha kana bihi AAaleeman

Et ils te consultent à propos de ce qui a été décrété au sujet des femmes. Dis: «Allah vous donne Son décret là-dessus, en plus de ce qui vous est récité dans le Livre, au sujet des orphelines auxquelles vous ne donnez pas ce qui leur a été prescrit, et que vous désirez épouser, et au sujet des mineurs encore d'âge faible». Vous devez agir avec équité envers les orphelins. Et de tout ce que vous faites de bien, Allah en est, certes, Omniscient.

They ask thy instruction concerning the women say: Allah doth instruct you about them: And (remember) what hath been rehearsed unto you in the Book, concerning the orphans of women to whom ye give not the portions prescribed, and yet whom ye desire to marry, as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed: that ye stand firm for justice to orphans. There is not a good deed which ye do, but Allah is well-acquainted therewith.

وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنۢ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوْ إِعْرَاضًا فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَآ أَن يُصْلِحَا بَيْنَهُمَا صُلْحًا ۚ وَالصُّلْحُ خَيْرٌ ۗ وَأُحْضِرَتِ الْأَنفُسُ الشُّحَّ ۚ وَإِن تُحْسِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا[128]

Waini imraatun khafat min baAAliha nushoozan aw iAAradan fala junaha AAalayhima an yusliha baynahuma sulhan waalssulhu khayrun waohdirati alanfusu alshshuhha wain tuhsinoo watattaqoo fainna Allaha kana bima taAAmaloona khabeeran

Et si une femme craint de son mari abandon ou indifférence, alors ce n'est pas un péché pour les deux s'ils se réconcilient par un compromis quelconque, et la réconciliation est meilleure, puisque les âmes sont portées à la ladrerie. Mais si vous agissez en bien et vous êtes pieux... Allah est, certes, Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites.

If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best; even though men's souls are swayed by greed. But if ye do good and practise self-restraint, Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

وَلَن تَسْتَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَن تَعْدِلُوا۟ بَيْنَ النِّسَآءِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُمْ ۖ فَلَا تَمِيلُوا۟ كُلَّ الْمَيْلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَالْمُعَلَّقَةِ ۚ وَإِن تُصْلِحُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[129]

Walan tastateeAAoo an taAAdiloo bayna alnnisai walaw harastum fala tameeloo kulla almayli fatatharooha kaalmuAAallaqati wain tuslihoo watattaqoo fainna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman

Vous ne pourrez jamais être équitables entre vos femmes, même si vous en êtes soucieux. Ne vous penchez pas tout à fait vers l'une d'elles, au point de laisser l'autre comme en suspens. Mais si vous vous réconciliez et vous êtes pieux... donc Allah est, certes, Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَإِن يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغْنِ اللَّهُ كُلًّا مِّن سَعَتِهِۦ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ وَٰسِعًا حَكِيمًا[130]

Wain yatafarraqa yughni Allahu kullan min saAAatihi wakana Allahu wasiAAan hakeeman

Si les deux se séparent, Allah de par Sa largesse, accordera à chacun d'eux un autre destin. Et Allah est plein de largesses et parfaitement Sage.

But if they disagree (and must part), Allah will provide abundance for all from His all-reaching bounty: for Allah is He that careth for all and is Wise.

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۗ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّيْنَا الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ الْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَنِ اتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ ۚ وَإِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَنِيًّا حَمِيدًا[131]

Walillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi walaqad wassayna allatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum waiyyakum ani ittaqoo Allaha wain takfuroo fainna lillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wakana Allahu ghaniyyan hameedan

A Allah seul appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. «Craignez Allah!» Voilà ce que Nous avons enjoint à ceux auxquels avant vous le Livre fut donné, tout comme à vous-mêmes. Et si vous ne croyez pas (cela ne nuit pas à Allah, car) très certainement à Allah seul appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. Et Allah se suffit à Lui-même et Il est digne de louange.

To Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth. Verily we have directed the People of the Book before you, and you (o Muslims) to fear Allah. But if ye deny Him, lo! unto Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth, and Allah is free of all wants, worthy of all praise.

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا[132]

Walillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wakafa biAllahi wakeelan

A Allah seul appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. Et Allah suffit pour s'occuper de tout.

Yea, unto Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth, and enough is Allah to carry through all affairs.

إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِـَٔاخَرِينَ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ قَدِيرًا[133]

In yasha yuthhibkum ayyuha alnnasu wayati biakhareena wakana Allahu AAala thalika qadeeran

S'Il voulait, il vous ferait disparaître, ô gens, et en ferait venir d'autres. Car Allah en est très capable.

If it were His will, He could destroy you, o mankind, and create another race; for He hath power this to do.

مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا فَعِندَ اللَّهِ ثَوَابُ الدُّنْيَا وَالْءَاخِرَةِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا[134]

Man kana yureedu thawaba alddunya faAAinda Allahi thawabu alddunya waalakhirati wakana Allahu sameeAAan baseeran

Quiconque désire la récompense d'ici-bas, c'est auprès d'Allah qu'est la récompense d'ici-bas tout comme celle de l'au-delà. Et Allah entend et observe tout.

If any one desires a reward in this life, in Allah's (gift) is the reward (both) of this life and of the hereafter: for Allah is He that heareth and seeth (all things).

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ قَوَّٰمِينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَآءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَوِ الْوَٰلِدَيْنِ وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ ۚ إِن يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا فَاللَّهُ أَوْلَىٰ بِهِمَا ۖ فَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ الْهَوَىٰٓ أَن تَعْدِلُوا۟ ۚ وَإِن تَلْوُۥٓا۟ أَوْ تُعْرِضُوا۟ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا[135]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo koonoo qawwameena bialqisti shuhadaa lillahi walaw AAala anfusikum awi alwalidayni waalaqrabeena in yakun ghaniyyan aw faqeeran faAllahu awla bihima fala tattabiAAoo alhawa an taAAdiloo wain talwoo aw tuAAridoo fainna Allaha kana bima taAAmaloona khabeeran

O les croyants! Observez strictement la justice et soyez des témoins (véridiques) comme Allah l'ordonne, fût-ce contre vous-mêmes, contre vos père et mère ou proches parents. Qu'il s'agisse d'un riche ou d'un besogneux, Allah a priorité sur eux deux (et Il est plus connaisseur de leur intérêt que vous). Ne suivez donc pas les passions, afin de ne pas dévier de la justice. Si vous portez un faux témoignage ou si vous le refusez, [sachez qu'] Allah est Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites.

O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَالْكِتَٰبِ الَّذِى نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَالْكِتَٰبِ الَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَالْيَوْمِ الْءَاخِرِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا[136]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo aminoo biAllahi warasoolihi waalkitabi allathee nazzala AAala rasoolihi waalkitabi allathee anzala min qablu waman yakfur biAllahi wamalaikatihi wakutubihi warusulihi waalyawmi alakhiri faqad dalla dalalan baAAeedan

O les croyants! Soyez fermes en votre foi en Allah, en Son messager, au Livre qu'Il a fait descendre sur Son messager, et au Livre qu'Il a fait descendre avant. Quiconque ne croit pas en Allah, en Ses anges, en Ses Livres, en Ses messagers et au Jour dernier, s'égare, loin dans l'égarement.

O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ازْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّمْ يَكُنِ اللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلًۢا[137]

Inna allatheena amanoo thumma kafaroo thumma amanoo thumma kafaroo thumma izdadoo kufran lam yakuni Allahu liyaghfira lahum wala liyahdiyahum sabeelan

Ceux qui ont cru, puis sont devenus mécréants, puis ont cru de nouveau, ensuite sont redevenus mécréants, et n'ont fait que croître en mécréance, Allah ne leur pardonnera pas, ni les guidera vers un chemin (droit).

Those who believe, then reject faith, then believe (again) and (again) reject faith, and go on increasing in unbelief,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them nor guide them on the way.

بَشِّرِ الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا[138]

Bashshiri almunafiqeena bianna lahum AAathaban aleeman

Annonce aux hypocrites qu'il y a pour eux un châtiment douloureux,

To the Hypocrites give the glad tidings that there is for them (but) a grievous penalty;-

الَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ الْكَٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۚ أَيَبْتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ الْعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ الْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا[139]

Allatheena yattakhithoona alkafireena awliyaa min dooni almumineena ayabtaghoona AAindahumu alAAizzata fainna alAAizzata lillahi jameeAAan

ceux qui prennent pour alliés des mécréants au lieu des croyants, est-ce la puissance qu'ils recherchent auprès d'eux? (En vérité) la puissance appartient entièrement à Allah.

Yea, to those who take for friends unbelievers rather than believers: is it honour they seek among them? Nay,- all honour is with Allah.

وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى الْكِتَٰبِ أَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ ءَايَٰتِ اللَّهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا مِّثْلُهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَامِعُ الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَالْكَٰفِرِينَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ جَمِيعًا[140]

Waqad nazzala AAalaykum fee alkitabi an itha samiAAtum ayati Allahi yukfaru biha wayustahzao biha fala taqAAudoo maAAahum hatta yakhoodoo fee hadeethin ghayrihi innakum ithan mithluhum inna Allaha jamiAAu almunafiqeena waalkafireena fee jahannama jameeAAan

Dans le Livre, Il vous a déjà révélé ceci: lorsque vous entendez qu'on renie les versets (le Coran) d'Allah et qu'on s'en raille, ne vous asseyez point avec ceux-là jusqu'à ce qu'ils entreprennent une autre conversation. Sinon, vous serez comme eux. Allah rassemblera, certes, les hypocrites et les mécréants, tous, dans l'Enfer.

Already has He sent you Word in the Book, that when ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme: if ye did, ye would be like them. For Allah will collect the hypocrites and those who defy faith - all in Hell:-

الَّذِينَ يَتَرَبَّصُونَ بِكُمْ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ فَتْحٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ نَكُن مَّعَكُمْ وَإِن كَانَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ نَصِيبٌ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ نَسْتَحْوِذْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَنَمْنَعْكُم مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۚ فَاللَّهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ ۗ وَلَن يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلًا[141]

Allatheena yatarabbasoona bikum fain kana lakum fathun mina Allahi qaloo alam nakun maAAakum wain kana lilkafireena naseebun qaloo alam nastahwith AAalaykum wanamnaAAkum mina almumineena faAllahu yahkumu baynakum yawma alqiyamati walan yajAAala Allahu lilkafireena AAala almumineena sabeelan

Ils restent dans l'expectative à votre égard; si une victoire vous vient de la part d'Allah, ils disent: «N'étions-nous pas avec vous?» et s'il en revient un avantage aux mécréants, ils leur disent: «Est-ce que nous n'avons pas mis la main sur vous pour vous soustraire aux croyants?» Eh bien, Allah jugera entre vous au Jour de la Résurrection. Et jamais Allah ne donnera une voie aux mécréants contre les croyants.

(These are) the ones who wait and watch about you: if ye do gain a victory from Allah, they say: "Were we not with you?"- but if the unbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): "Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the believers?" but Allah will judge betwixt you on the Day of Judgment. And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers.

إِنَّ الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يُخَٰدِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَٰدِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوٓا۟ إِلَى الصَّلَوٰةِ قَامُوا۟ كُسَالَىٰ يُرَآءُونَ النَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا[142]

Inna almunafiqeena yukhadiAAoona Allaha wahuwa khadiAAuhum waitha qamoo ila alssalati qamoo kusala yuraoona alnnasa wala yathkuroona Allaha illa qaleelan

Les hypocrites cherchent à tromper Allah, mais Allah retourne leur tromperie (contre eux-mêmes). Et lorsqu'ils se lèvent pour la Salât, ils se lèvent avec paresse et par ostentation envers les gens. A peine invoquent-ils Allah.

The Hypocrites - they think they are over-reaching Allah, but He will over-reach them: When they stand up to prayer, they stand without earnestness, to be seen of men, but little do they hold Allah in remembrance;

مُّذَبْذَبِينَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ لَآ إِلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَلَآ إِلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا[143]

Muthabthabeena bayna thalika la ila haolai wala ila haolai waman yudlili Allahu falan tajida lahu sabeelan

Ils sont indécis (entre les croyants et les mécréants,) n'appartenant ni aux uns ni aux autres. Or, quiconque Allah égare, jamais tu ne trouveras de chemin pour lui.

(They are) distracted in mind even in the midst of it,- being (sincerely) for neither one group nor for another whom Allah leaves straying,- never wilt thou find for him the way.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ الْكَٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۚ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَجْعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا[144]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo alkafireena awliyaa min dooni almumineena atureedoona an tajAAaloo lillahi AAalaykum sultanan mubeenan

O les croyants! Ne prenez pas pour alliés les mécréants au lieu des croyants. Voudriez-vous donner à Allah une preuve évidente contre vous?

O ye who believe! Take not for friends unbelievers rather than believers: Do ye wish to offer Allah an open proof against yourselves?

إِنَّ الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِى الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَصِيرًا[145]

Inna almunafiqeena fee alddarki alasfali mina alnnari walan tajida lahum naseeran

Les hypocrites seront, certes, au plus bas fond du Feu, et tu ne leur trouveras jamais de secoureur,

The Hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire: no helper wilt thou find for them;-

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ وَأَصْلَحُوا۟ وَاعْتَصَمُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَأَخْلَصُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ لِلَّهِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ وَسَوْفَ يُؤْتِ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[146]

Illa allatheena taboo waaslahoo waiAAtasamoo biAllahi waakhlasoo deenahum lillahi faolaika maAAa almumineena wasawfa yuti Allahu almumineena ajran AAatheeman

sauf ceux qui se repentent, s'amendent, s'attachent fermement à Allah, et Lui vouent une foi exclusive. Ceux-là seront avec les croyants. Et Allah donnera aux croyants une énorme récompense.

Except for those who repent, mend (their lives) hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion as in Allah's sight: if so they will be (numbered) with the believers. And soon will Allah grant to the believers a reward of immense value.

مَّا يَفْعَلُ اللَّهُ بِعَذَابِكُمْ إِن شَكَرْتُمْ وَءَامَنتُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ شَاكِرًا عَلِيمًا[147]

Ma yafAAalu Allahu biAAathabikum in shakartum waamantum wakana Allahu shakiran AAaleeman

Pourquoi Allah vous infligerait-Il un châtiment si vous êtes reconnaissants et croyants? Allah est Reconnaissant et Omniscient.

What can Allah gain by your punishment, if ye are grateful and ye believe? Nay, it is Allah that recogniseth (all good), and knoweth all things.

۞ لَّا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ الْجَهْرَ بِالسُّوٓءِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ إِلَّا مَن ظُلِمَ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ سَمِيعًا عَلِيمًا[148]

La yuhibbu Allahu aljahra bialssooi mina alqawli illa man thulima wakana Allahu sameeAAan AAaleeman

Allah n'aime pas qu'on profère de mauvaises paroles sauf quand on a été injustement provoqué. Et Allah est Audient et Omniscient.

Allah loveth not that evil should be noised abroad in public speech, except where injustice hath been done; for Allah is He who heareth and knoweth all things.

إِن تُبْدُوا۟ خَيْرًا أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ أَوْ تَعْفُوا۟ عَن سُوٓءٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا قَدِيرًا[149]

In tubdoo khayran aw tukhfoohu aw taAAfoo AAan sooin fainna Allaha kana AAafuwwan qadeeran

Que vous fassiez du bien, ouvertement ou en cachette, ou bien que vous pardonniez un mal... Alors Allah est Pardonneur et Omnipotent.

Whether ye publish a good deed or conceal it or cover evil with pardon, verily Allah doth blot out (sins) and hath power (in the judgment of values).

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ اللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤْمِنُ بِبَعْضٍ وَنَكْفُرُ بِبَعْضٍ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَّخِذُوا۟ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا[150]

Inna allatheena yakfuroona biAllahi warusulihi wayureedoona an yufarriqoo bayna Allahi warusulihi wayaqooloona numinu bibaAAdin wanakfuru bibaAAdin wayureedoona an yattakhithoo bayna thalika sabeelan

Ceux qui ne croient pas en Allah et en Ses messagers, et qui veulent faire distinction entre Allah et Ses messagers et qui disent: «Nous croyons en certains d'entre eux mais ne croyons pas en d'autres», et qui veulent prendre un chemin intermédiaire (entre la foi et la mécréance),

Those who deny Allah and His messengers, and (those who) wish to separate Allah from His messengers, saying: "We believe in some but reject others": And (those who) wish to take a course midway,-

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْكَٰفِرُونَ حَقًّا ۚ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا[151]

Olaika humu alkafiroona haqqan waaAAtadna lilkafireena AAathaban muheenan

les voilà les vrais mécréants! Et Nous avons préparé pour les mécréants un châtiment avilissant.

They are in truth (equally) unbelievers; and we have prepared for unbelievers a humiliating punishment.

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَوْفَ يُؤْتِيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا[152]

Waallatheena amanoo biAllahi warusulihi walam yufarriqoo bayna ahadin minhum olaika sawfa yuteehim ojoorahum wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Et ceux qui croient en Allah et en Ses messagers et qui ne font point de différence entre ces derniers, voilà ceux à qui Il donnera leurs récompenses. Et Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

To those who believe in Allah and His messengers and make no distinction between any of the messengers, we shall soon give their (due) rewards: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

يَسْـَٔلُكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَٰبِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَٰبًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ ۚ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا۟ مُوسَىٰٓ أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَرِنَا اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّٰعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ۚ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا۟ الْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَٰتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا[153]

Yasaluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzila AAalayhim kitaban mina alssamai faqad saaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arina Allaha jahratan faakhathathumu alssaAAiqatu bithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu faAAafawna AAan thalika waatayna moosa sultanan mubeenan

Les gens du Livre te demandent de leur faire descendre du ciel un Livre. Ils ont déjà demandé à Moïse quelque chose de bien plus grave quand ils dirent: «Fais-nous voir Allah à découvert!» Alors la foudre les frappa pour leur tort. Puis ils adoptèrent le Veau (comme idole) même après que les preuves leur furent venues. Nous leur pardonnâmes cela et donnâmes à Moïse une autorité déclarée.

The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority.

وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ الطُّورَ بِمِيثَٰقِهِمْ وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ادْخُلُوا۟ الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا۟ فِى السَّبْتِ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًا[154]

WarafaAAna fawqahumu alttoora bimeethaqihim waqulna lahumu odkhuloo albaba sujjadan waqulna lahum la taAAdoo fee alssabti waakhathna minhum meethaqan ghaleethan

Et pour (obtenir) leur engagement, Nous avons brandi au-dessus d'eux le Mont Tor, Nous leur avons dit: «Entrez par la porte en vous prosternant» Nous leur avons dit: «Ne transgressez pas le Sabbat» et Nous avons pris d'eux un engagement ferme.

And for their covenant we raised over them (the towering height) of Mount (Sinai); and (on another occasion) we said: "Enter the gate with humility"; and (once again) we commanded them: "Transgress not in the matter of the sabbath." And we took from them a solemn covenant.

فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِم بِـَٔايَٰتِ اللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ الْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۢ ۚ بَلْ طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا[155]

Fabima naqdihim meethaqahum wakufrihim biayati Allahi waqatlihimu alanbiyaa bighayri haqqin waqawlihim quloobuna ghulfun bal tabaAAa Allahu AAalayha bikufrihim fala yuminoona illa qaleelan

(Nous les avons maudits) à cause de leur rupture de l'engagement, leur mécréance aux révélations d'Allah, leur meurtre injustifié des prophètes, et leur parole: «Nos cœurs sont (enveloppés) et imperméables». En réalité, c'est Allah qui a scellé leurs cœurs à cause de leur mécréance, car ils ne croyaient que très peu.

(They have incurred divine displeasure): In that they broke their covenant; that they rejected the signs of Allah; that they slew the Messengers in defiance of right; that they said, "Our hearts are the wrappings (which preserve Allah's Word; We need no more)";- Nay, Allah hath set the seal on their hearts for their blasphemy, and little is it they believe;-

وَبِكُفْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ بُهْتَٰنًا عَظِيمًا[156]

Wabikufrihim waqawlihim AAala maryama buhtanan AAatheeman

Et à cause de leur mécréance et de l'énorme calomnie qu'ils prononcent contre Marie,

That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge;

وَقَوْلِهِمْ إِنَّا قَتَلْنَا الْمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ ۚ مَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلَّا اتِّبَاعَ الظَّنِّ ۚ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينًۢا[157]

Waqawlihim inna qatalna almaseeha AAeesa ibna maryama rasoola Allahi wama qataloohu wama salaboohu walakin shubbiha lahum wainna allatheena ikhtalafoo feehi lafee shakkin minhu ma lahum bihi min AAilmin illa ittibaAAa alththanni wama qataloohu yaqeenan

et à cause de leur parole: «Nous avons vraiment tué le Christ, Jésus, fils de Marie, le Messager d'Allah»... Or, ils ne l'ont ni tué ni crucifié; mais ce n'était qu'un faux semblant! Et ceux qui ont discuté sur son sujet sont vraiment dans l'incertitude: ils n'en ont aucune connaissance certaine, ils ne font que suivre des conjectures et ils ne l'ont certainement pas tué,

That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

بَل رَّفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا[158]

Bal rafaAAahu Allahu ilayhi wakana Allahu AAazeezan hakeeman

mais Allah l'a élevé vers Lui. Et Allah est Puissant et Sage.

Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;-

وَإِن مِّنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِۦ ۖ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا[159]

Wain min ahli alkitabi illa layuminanna bihi qabla mawtihi wayawma alqiyamati yakoonu AAalayhim shaheedan

Il n'y aura personne, parmi les gens du Livre, qui n'aura pas foi en lui avant sa mort. Et au Jour de la Résurrection, il sera témoin contre eux.

And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them;-

فَبِظُلْمٍ مِّنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ طَيِّبَٰتٍ أُحِلَّتْ لَهُمْ وَبِصَدِّهِمْ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ كَثِيرًا[160]

Fabithulmin mina allatheena hadoo harramna AAalayhim tayyibatin ohillat lahum wabisaddihim AAan sabeeli Allahi katheeran

C'est à cause des iniquités des Juifs que Nous leur avons rendu illicites les bonnes nourritures qui leur étaient licites, et aussi à cause de ce qu'ils obstruent le sentier d'Allah, (à eux-mêmes et) à beaucoup de monde,

For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them certain (foods) good and wholesome which had been lawful for them;- in that they hindered many from Allah's Way;-

وَأَخْذِهِمُ الرِّبَوٰا۟ وَقَدْ نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَكْلِهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَٰطِلِ ۚ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا[161]

Waakhthihimu alrriba waqad nuhoo AAanhu waaklihim amwala alnnasi bialbatili waaAAtadna lilkafireena minhum AAathaban aleeman

et à cause de ce qu'ils prennent des intérêts usuraires- qui leur étaient pourtant interdits - et parce qu'ils mangent illégalement les biens des gens. A ceux d'entre eux qui sont mécréants Nous avons préparé un châtiment douloureux.

That they took usury, though they were forbidden; and that they devoured men's substance wrongfully;- we have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment.

لَّٰكِنِ الرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى الْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ وَالْمُقِيمِينَ الصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ وَالْمُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَوٰةَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْءَاخِرِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا[162]

Lakini alrrasikhoona fee alAAilmi minhum waalmuminoona yuminoona bima onzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika waalmuqeemeena alssalata waalmutoona alzzakata waalmuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri olaika sanuteehim ajran AAatheeman

Mais ceux d'entre eux qui sont enracinés dans la connaissance, ainsi que les croyants, (tous) ont foi à ce qu'on a fait descendre sur toi et à ce qu'on a fait descendre avant toi. Et quant à ceux qui accomplissent la Salât, paient la Zakât et croient en Allah et au Jour dernier, ceux-là Nous leur donnerons une énorme récompense.

But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and practise regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward.

۞ إِنَّآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ كَمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ وَالنَّبِيِّۦنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَٰرُونَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورًا[163]

Inna awhayna ilayka kama awhayna ila noohin waalnnabiyyeena min baAAdihi waawhayna ila ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa wayaAAqooba waalasbati waAAeesa waayyooba wayoonusa waharoona wasulaymana waatayna dawooda zabooran

Nous t'avons fait une révélation comme Nous fîmes à Noé et aux prophètes après lui. Et Nous avons fait révélation à Abraham, à Ismaël, à Isaac, à Jacob aux Tribus, à Jésus, à Job, à Jonas, à Aaron et à Salomon, et Nous avons donné le Zabour à David.

We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.

وَرُسُلًا قَدْ قَصَصْنَٰهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَرُسُلًا لَّمْ نَقْصُصْهُمْ عَلَيْكَ ۚ وَكَلَّمَ اللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكْلِيمًا[164]

Warusulan qad qasasnahum AAalayka min qablu warusulan lam naqsushum AAalayka wakallama Allahu moosa takleeman

Et il y a des messagers dont Nous t'avons raconté l'histoire précédemment, et des messagers dont Nous ne t'avons point raconté l'histoire - et Allah a parlé à Moïse de vive voix -

Of some messengers We have already told thee the story; of others We have not;- and to Moses Allah spoke direct;-

رُّسُلًا مُّبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى اللَّهِ حُجَّةٌۢ بَعْدَ الرُّسُلِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا[165]

Rusulan mubashshireena wamunthireena lialla yakoona lilnnasi AAala Allahi hujjatun baAAda alrrusuli wakana Allahu AAazeezan hakeeman

en tant que messagers, annonciateurs et avertisseurs, afin qu'après la venue des messagers il n'y eût pour les gens point d'argument devant Allah. Allah est Puissant et Sage.

Messengers who gave good news as well as warning, that mankind, after (the coming) of the messengers, should have no plea against Allah: For Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

لَّٰكِنِ اللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكَ ۖ أَنزَلَهُۥ بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۖ وَالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا[166]

Lakini Allahu yashhadu bima anzala ilayka anzalahu biAAilmihi waalmalaikatu yashhadoona wakafa biAllahi shaheedan

Mais Allah témoigne de ce qu'Il a fait descendre vers toi, Il l'a fait descendre en toute connaissance. Et les Anges en témoignent. Et Allah suffit comme témoin.

But Allah beareth witness that what He hath sent unto thee He hath sent from His (own) knowledge, and the angels bear witness: But enough is Allah for a witness.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا[167]

Inna allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi qad dalloo dalalan baAAeedan

Ceux qui ne croient pas et qui obstruent le sentier d'Allah, s'égarent certes loin dans l'égarement.

Those who reject Faith and keep off (men) from the way of Allah, have verily strayed far, far away from the Path.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَظَلَمُوا۟ لَمْ يَكُنِ اللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ طَرِيقًا[168]

Inna allatheena kafaroo wathalamoo lam yakuni Allahu liyaghfira lahum wala liyahdiyahum tareeqan

Ceux qui ne croient pas et qui pratiquent l'injustice, Allah n'est nullement disposé à leur pardonner, ni à les guider dans un chemin

Those who reject Faith and do wrong,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them to any way-

إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرًا[169]

Illa tareeqa jahannama khalideena feeha abadan wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

(autre) que le chemin de l'Enfer où ils demeureront éternellement. Et cela est facile à Allah.

Except the way of Hell, to dwell therein for ever. And this to Allah is easy.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُمُ الرَّسُولُ بِالْحَقِّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ ۚ وَإِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا[170]

Ya ayyuha alnnasu qad jaakumu alrrasoolu bialhaqqi min rabbikum faaminoo khayran lakum wain takfuroo fainna lillahi ma fee alssamawati waalardi wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeeman

O gens! Le Messager vous a apporté la vérité de la part de votre Seigneur. Ayez la foi, donc, cela vous sera meilleur. Et si vous ne croyez pas (qu'importe!), c'est à Allah qu'appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

O Mankind! The Messenger hath come to you in truth from Allah: believe in him: It is best for you. But if ye reject Faith, to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

يَٰٓأَهْلَ الْكِتَٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ ۚ إِنَّمَا الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓ أَلْقَىٰهَآ إِلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ ۖ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ ثَلَٰثَةٌ ۚ انتَهُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا اللَّهُ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ ۘ لَّهُۥ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا[171]

Ya ahla alkitabi la taghloo fee deenikum wala taqooloo AAala Allahi illa alhaqqa innama almaseehu AAeesa ibnu maryama rasoolu Allahi wakalimatuhu alqaha ila maryama waroohun minhu faaminoo biAllahi warusulihi wala taqooloo thalathatun intahoo khayran lakum innama Allahu ilahun wahidun subhanahu an yakoona lahu waladun lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wakafa biAllahi wakeelan

O gens du Livre (Chrétiens), n'exagérez pas dans votre religion, et ne dites d'Allah que la vérité. Le Messie Jésus, fils de Marie, n'est qu'un Messager d'Allah, Sa parole qu'Il envoya à Marie, et un souffle (de vie) venant de Lui. Croyez donc en Allah et en Ses messagers. Et ne dites pas «Trois». Cessez! Ce sera meilleur pour vous. Allah n'est qu'un Dieu unique. Il est trop glorieux pour avoir un enfant. C'est à Lui qu'appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre et Allah suffit comme protecteur.

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

لَّن يَسْتَنكِفَ الْمَسِيحُ أَن يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا الْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ۚ وَمَن يَسْتَنكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا[172]

Lan yastankifa almaseehu an yakoona AAabdan lillahi wala almalaikatu almuqarraboona waman yastankif AAan AAibadatihi wayastakbir fasayahshuruhum ilayhi jameeAAan

Jamais le Messie ne trouve indigne d'être un serviteur d'Allah, ni les Anges rapprochés [de Lui]. Et ceux qui trouvent indigne de L'adorer et s'enflent d'orgueil... Il les rassemblera tous vers Lui.

Christ disdaineth nor to serve and worship Allah, nor do the angels, those nearest (to Allah): those who disdain His worship and are arrogant,-He will gather them all together unto Himself to (answer).

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ ۖ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ اسْتَنكَفُوا۟ وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا[173]

Faamma allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fayuwaffeehim ojoorahum wayazeeduhum min fadlihi waamma allatheena istankafoo waistakbaroo fayuAAaththibuhum AAathaban aleeman wala yajidoona lahum min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseeran

Quant à ceux qui ont cru et fait de bonnes œuvres, Il leur accordera leurs pleines récompenses et y ajoutera le surcroît de Sa grâce. Et quant à ceux qui ont eu la morgue et se sont enflés d'orgueil, Il les châtiera d'un châtiment douloureux. Et ils ne trouveront, pour eux, en dehors d'Allah, ni allié ni secoureur,

But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُم بُرْهَٰنٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ نُورًا مُّبِينًا[174]

Ya ayyuha alnnasu qad jaakum burhanun min rabbikum waanzalna ilaykum nooran mubeenan

O gens! Certes, une preuve évidente vous est venue de la part de votre Seigneur. Et Nous avons fait descendre vers vous une lumière éclatante.

O mankind! verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest.

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَاعْتَصَمُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْ فِى رَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَفَضْلٍ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَيْهِ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا[175]

Faamma allatheena amanoo biAllahi waiAAtasamoo bihi fasayudkhiluhum fee rahmatin minhu wafadlin wayahdeehim ilayhi siratan mustaqeeman

Alors ceux qui croient en Allah et qui s'attachent à Lui, Il les fera entrer dans une miséricorde venue de Lui, et dans une grâce aussi. Et Il les guidera vers Lui dans un chemin droit.

Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him,- soon will He admit them to mercy and grace from Himself, and guide them to Himself by a straight way.

يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِى الْكَلَٰلَةِ ۚ إِنِ امْرُؤٌا۟ هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ ۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَتَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ ۚ وَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَةً رِّجَالًا وَنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۗ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ[176]

Yastaftoonaka quli Allahu yufteekum fee alkalalati ini imruon halaka laysa lahu waladun walahu okhtun falaha nisfu ma taraka wahuwa yarithuha in lam yakun laha waladun fain kanata ithnatayni falahuma alththuluthani mimma taraka wain kanoo ikhwatan rijalan wanisaan falilththakari mithlu haththi alonthayayni yubayyinu Allahu lakum an tadilloo waAllahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Ils te demandent ce qui a été décrété. Dis: «Au sujet du défunt qui n'a pas de père ni de mère ni d'enfant, Allah vous donne Son décret: si quelqu'un meurt sans enfant, mais a une sœur, à celle-ci revient la moitié de ce qu'il laisse. Et lui, il héritera d'elle en totalité si elle n'a pas d'enfant. Mais s'il a deux sœurs (ou plus), à elles alors les deux tiers de ce qu'il laisse; et s'il a des frères et des sœurs, à un frère alors revient une portion égale à celle de deux sœurs. Allah vous donne des explications pour que vous ne vous égariez pas. Et Allah est Omniscient.

They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs. If it is a man that dies, leaving a sister but no child, she shall have half the inheritance: If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, Her brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of the inheritance (between them): if there are brothers and sisters, (they share), the male having twice the share of the female. Thus doth Allah make clear to you (His law), lest ye err. And Allah hath knowledge of all things.
