بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِى خَلَقَ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ الظُّلُمَٰتِ وَالنُّورَ ۖ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ[1]

Alhamdu lillahi allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda wajaAAala alththulumati waalnnoora thumma allatheena kafaroo birabbihim yaAAdiloona

Louange à Allah qui a créé les cieux et la terre, et établi les ténèbres et la lumière. Pourtant, les mécréants donnent des égaux à leur Seigneur.

Praise be Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal, with their Guardian-Lord.

هُوَ الَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن طِينٍ ثُمَّ قَضَىٰٓ أَجَلًا ۖ وَأَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى عِندَهُۥ ۖ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تَمْتَرُونَ[2]

Huwa allathee khalaqakum min teenin thumma qada ajalan waajalun musamman AAindahu thumma antum tamtaroona

C'est Lui qui vous a créés d'argile; puis il vous a décrété un terme, et il y a un terme fixé auprès de Lui. Pourtant, vous doutez encore!

He it is created you from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is in His presence another determined term; yet ye doubt within yourselves!

وَهُوَ اللَّهُ فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَفِى الْأَرْضِ ۖ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّكُمْ وَجَهْرَكُمْ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْسِبُونَ[3]

Wahuwa Allahu fee alssamawati wafee alardi yaAAlamu sirrakum wajahrakum wayaAAlamu ma taksiboona

Et Lui, Il est Allah dans les cieux et sur la terre. Il connaît ce que vous cachez en vous et ce que vous divulguez et Il sait ce que vous acquérez.

And He is Allah in the heavens and on earth. He knoweth what ye hide, and what ye reveal, and He knoweth the (recompense) which ye earn (by your deeds).

وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ[4]

Wama tateehim min ayatin min ayati rabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideena

Et il ne leur vient aucun des signes d'entre les signes de leur Seigneur, sans qu'ils ne s'en détournent.

But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach them, but they turned away therefrom.

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ[5]

Faqad kaththaboo bialhaqqi lamma jaahum fasawfa yateehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

Ils traitent de mensonge la vérité quand celle-ci leur vient. Mais ils vont avoir des nouvelles de ce dont ils se moquent.

And now they reject the truth when it reaches them: but soon shall they learn the reality of what they used to mock at.

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّٰهُمْ فِى الْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا السَّمَآءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا الْأَنْهَٰرَ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ[6]

Alam yaraw kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin makkannahum fee alardi ma lam numakkin lakum waarsalna alssamaa AAalayhim midraran wajaAAalna alanhara tajree min tahtihim faahlaknahum bithunoobihim waanshana min baAAdihim qarnan akhareena

N'ont-ils pas vu combien de générations, avant eux, Nous avons détruites, auxquelles Nous avions donné pouvoir sur terre, bien plus que ce que Nous vous avons donnés? Nous avions envoyé, sur eux, du ciel, la pluie en abondance, et Nous avions fait couler des rivières à leurs pieds. Puis Nous les avons détruites, pour leurs péchés; et Nous avons créé après eux, une nouvelle génération.

See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them).

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَٰبًا فِى قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ لَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ[7]

Walaw nazzalna AAalayka kitaban fee qirtasin falamasoohu biaydeehim laqala allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun

Même si Nous avions fait descendre sur toi (Muhammad) un Livre en papier qu'ils pouvaient toucher de leurs mains, ceux qui ne croient pas auraient certainement dit: «Ce n'est que de la magie évidente!»

If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment, so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!"

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ ۖ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِىَ الْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ[8]

Waqaloo lawla onzila AAalayhi malakun walaw anzalna malakan laqudiya alamru thumma la yuntharoona

Et ils disent: «Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas fait descendre sur lui (Muhammad) un Ange?» Si Nous avions fait descendre un Ange, c'eût été, sûrement, affaire faite; puis on ne leur eût point donné de délai.

They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them.

وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَٰهُ مَلَكًا لَّجَعَلْنَٰهُ رَجُلًا وَلَلَبَسْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّا يَلْبِسُونَ[9]

Walaw jaAAalnahu malakan lajaAAalnahu rajulan walalabasna AAalayhim ma yalbisoona

Si Nous avions désigné un Ange [comme prophète], Nous aurions fait de lui un homme et Nous leur aurions causé la même confusion que celle dans laquelle ils sont.

If We had made it an angel, We should have sent him as a man, and We should certainly have caused them confusion in a matter which they have already covered with confusion.

وَلَقَدِ اسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِالَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ[10]

Walaqadi istuhzia birusulin min qablika fahaqa biallatheena sakhiroo minhum ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

Certes, on s'est moqué de messagers avant toi, mais ceux qui se sont raillés d'eux, leur propre raillerie les enveloppa.

Mocked were (many) messengers before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.

قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ انظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ[11]

Qul seeroo fee alardi thumma onthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena

Dis: «Parcourez la terre et regardez ce qu'il est advenu de ceux qui traitaient la vérité de mensonge».

Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth."

قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ قُل لِّلَّهِ ۚ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ الرَّحْمَةَ ۚ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ[12]

Qul liman ma fee alssamawati waalardi qul lillahi kataba AAala nafsihi alrrahmata layajmaAAannakum ila yawmi alqiyamati la rayba feehi allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fahum la yuminoona

Dis: «A qui appartient ce qui est dans les cieux et la terre?» Dis: «A Allah!» Il S'est à Lui-même prescrit la miséricorde. Il vous rassemblera, certainement, au Jour de la Résurrection: il n'y a pas de doute là-dessus. Ceux qui font leur propre perte sont ceux qui ne croient pas.

Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. That He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost their own souls, that will not believe.

۞ وَلَهُۥ مَا سَكَنَ فِى الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ[13]

Walahu ma sakana fee allayli waalnnahari wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

Et à Lui tout ce qui réside dans la nuit et le jour. C'est Lui qui est l'Audient, l'Omniscient.

To him belongeth all that dwelleth (or lurketh) in the night and the day. For he is the one who heareth and knoweth all things."

قُلْ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فَاطِرِ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ يُطْعِمُ وَلَا يُطْعَمُ ۗ قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ ۖ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ[14]

Qul aghayra Allahi attakhithu waliyyan fatiri alssamawati waalardi wahuwa yutAAimu wala yutAAamu qul innee omirtu an akoona awwala man aslama wala takoonanna mina almushrikeena

Dis: «Devais-je prendre pour allié autre qu'Allah, le Créateur des cieux et de la terre? C'est Lui qui nourrit et personne ne Le nourrit. Dis: «On m'a commandé d'être le premier à me soumettre». Et ne sois jamais du nombre des associateurs.

Say: "Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feedeth but is not fed." Say: "Nay! but I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with Allah."

قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ[15]

Qul innee akhafu in AAasaytu rabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

Dis: «Je crains, si je désobéis à mon Seigneur, le châtiment d'un jour redoutable».

Say: "I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the penalty of a Mighty Day.

مَّن يُصْرَفْ عَنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمَهُۥ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِينُ[16]

Man yusraf AAanhu yawmaithin faqad rahimahu wathalika alfawzu almubeenu

En ce jour, quiconque est épargné, c'est qu'[Allah] lui a fait miséricorde. Et voilà le succès éclatant.

"On that day, if the penalty is averted from any, it is due to Allah's mercy; And that would be (Salvation), the obvious fulfilment of all desire.

وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ[17]

Wain yamsaska Allahu bidurrin fala kashifa lahu illa huwa wain yamsaska bikhayrin fahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Et si Allah fait qu'un malheur te touche, nul autre que Lui ne peut l'enlever. Et s'Il fait qu'un bonheur te touche... c'est qu'Il est Omnipotent.

"If Allah touch thee with affliction, none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness, He hath power over all things.

وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ[18]

Wahuwa alqahiru fawqa AAibadihi wahuwa alhakeemu alkhabeeru

C'est Lui le Dominateur Suprême sur Ses serviteurs; c'est Lui le Sage, le Parfaitement Connaisseur.

"He is the irresistible, (watching) from above over His worshippers; and He is the Wise, acquainted with all things."

قُلْ أَىُّ شَىْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَٰدَةً ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ ۖ شَهِيدٌۢ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَأُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ هَٰذَا الْقُرْءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَ ۚ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ اللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَشْهَدُ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ[19]

Qul ayyu shayin akbaru shahadatan quli Allahu shaheedun baynee wabaynakum waoohiya ilayya hatha alquranu lionthirakum bihi waman balagha ainnakum latashhadoona anna maAAa Allahi alihatan okhra qul la ashhadu qul innama huwa ilahun wahidun wainnanee bareeon mimma tushrikoona

Dis: «Qu'y a-t-il de plus grand en fait de témoignage?» Dis: «Allah est témoin entre moi et vous; et ce Coran m'a été révélé pour que je vous avertisse, par sa voie, vous et tous ceux qu'il atteindra. «Est-ce vous vraiment qui attestez qu'il y ait avec Allah d'autres divinités? Dis: «Je n'atteste pas». Dis [aussi]: «Il n'y a qu'une Divinité Unique. Et moi, je désavoue ce que vous (Lui) associez».

Say: "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say: "Allah is witness between me and you; This Qur'an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah?" Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the one Allah, and I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him."

الَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ الْكِتَٰبَ يَعْرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَآءَهُمُ ۘ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ[20]

Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yaAArifoonahu kama yaAArifoona abnaahum allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fahum la yuminoona

Ceux à qui Nous avons donné le Livre reconnaissent (le Messager Muhammad) comme ils reconnaissent leurs propres enfants. Ceux qui font leur propre perte sont ceux qui ne croient pas.

Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons. Those who have lost their own souls refuse therefore to believe.

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّٰلِمُونَ[21]

Waman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba biayatihi innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona

Qui donc est plus injuste que celui qui invente un mensonge contre Allah, ou qui traite de mensonge Ses versets? Les injustes ne réussiront pas.

Who doth more wrong than he who inventeth a lie against Allah or rejecteth His signs? But verily the wrong-doers never shall prosper.

وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوٓا۟ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآؤُكُمُ الَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ[22]

Wayawma nahshuruhum jameeAAan thumma naqoolu lillatheena ashrakoo ayna shurakaokumu allatheena kuntum tazAAumoona

Et le Jour où Nous les rassemblerons tous puis dirons à ceux qui auront donné des associés: «Où sont donc vos associés que vous prétendiez?»

One day shall We gather them all together: We shall say to those who ascribed partners (to Us): "Where are the partners whom ye (invented and) talked about?"

ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ وَاللَّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ[23]

Thumma lam takun fitnatuhum illa an qaloo waAllahi rabbina ma kunna mushrikeena

Alors il ne leur restera comme excuse que de dire: «Par Allah notre Seigneur! Nous n'étions jamais des associateurs».

There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah."

انظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ[24]

Onthur kayfa kathaboo AAala anfusihim wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yaftaroona

Vois comment ils mentent à eux-mêmes! Et comment les abandonnent (les associés) qu'ils inventaient!

Behold! how they lie against their own souls! But the (lie) which they invented will leave them in the lurch.

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كُلَّ ءَايَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوكَ يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[25]

Waminhum man yastamiAAu ilayka wajaAAalna AAala quloobihim akinnatan an yafqahoohu wafee athanihim waqran wain yaraw kulla ayatin la yuminoo biha hatta itha jaooka yujadiloonaka yaqoolu allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena

Il en est parmi eux qui viennent t'écouter, cependant que Nous avons entouré de voiles leurs cœurs, qui les empêchent de comprendre (le Coran), et dans leurs oreilles est une lourdeur. Quand même ils verraient toutes sortes de preuves, ils n'y croiraient pas. Et quand ils viennent disputer avec toi, ceux qui ne croient pas disent alors: «Ce ne sont que des légendes des anciens».

Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."

وَهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَيَنْـَٔوْنَ عَنْهُ ۖ وَإِن يُهْلِكُونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ[26]

Wahum yanhawna AAanhu wayanawna AAanhu wain yuhlikoona illa anfusahum wama yashAAuroona

Ils empêchent [les gens] de s'approcher de lui et s'en écartent eux-mêmes. Ils ne feront périr qu'eux-mêmes sans s'en rendre compte.

Others they keep away from it, and themselves they keep away; but they only destroy their own souls, and they perceive it not.

وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَى النَّارِ فَقَالُوا۟ يَٰلَيْتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[27]

Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala alnnari faqaloo ya laytana nuraddu wala nukaththiba biayati rabbina wanakoona mina almumineena

Si tu les voyais, quand ils seront placés devant le Feu. Ils diront alors: «Hélas! Si nous pouvions être renvoyés (sur la terre), nous ne traiterions plus de mensonges les versets de notre Seigneur et nous serions du nombre des croyants».

If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!"

بَلْ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُخْفُونَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَوْ رُدُّوا۟ لَعَادُوا۟ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ[28]

Bal bada lahum ma kanoo yukhfoona min qablu walaw ruddoo laAAadoo lima nuhoo AAanhu wainnahum lakathiboona

Mais non! Voilà que leur apparaîtra ce qu'auparavant ils cachaient. Or, s'ils étaient rendus [à la vie terrestre], ils reviendraient sûrement à ce qui leur était interdit. Ce sont vraiment des menteurs.

Yea, in their own (eyes) will become manifest what before they concealed. But if they were returned, they would certainly relapse to the things they were forbidden, for they are indeed liars.

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ[29]

Waqaloo in hiya illa hayatuna alddunya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena

Et ils disent: «Il n'y a pour nous [d'autre vie] que celle d'ici-bas; et nous ne serons pas ressuscités».

And they (sometimes) say: "There is nothing except our life on this earth, and never shall we be raised up again."

وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَٰذَا بِالْحَقِّ ۚ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا ۚ قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ[30]

Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala rabbihim qala alaysa hatha bialhaqqi qaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona

Si tu les voyais, quand ils comparaîtront devant leur Seigneur. Il leur dira: «Cela n'est-il pas la vérité?» Ils diront: «Mais si! Par notre Seigneur!» Et, il dira: «Goûtez alors au châtiment pour n'avoir pas cru».

If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with their Lord! He will say: "Is not this the truth?" They will say: "Yea, by our Lord!" He will say: "Taste ye then the penalty, because ye rejected Faith."

قَدْ خَسِرَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ اللَّهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا۟ يَٰحَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ[31]

Qad khasira allatheena kaththaboo biliqai Allahi hatta itha jaathumu alssaAAatu baghtatan qaloo ya hasratana AAala ma farratna feeha wahum yahmiloona awzarahum AAala thuhoorihim ala saa ma yaziroona

Sont perdants certes ceux qui traitent de mensonge la rencontre d'Allah. Et quand soudain l'Heure leur viendra, ils diront: «Malheur à nous pour notre négligence à son égard, Et ils porteront leurs fardeaux sur leurs dos, et quels mauvais fardeaux!

Lost indeed are they who treat it as a falsehood that they must meet Allah,- until on a sudden the hour is on them, and they say: "Ah! woe unto us that we took no thought of it"; for they bear their burdens on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear?

وَمَا الْحَيَوٰةُ الدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ ۖ وَلَلدَّارُ الْءَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ[32]

Wama alhayatu alddunya illa laAAibun walahwun walalddaru alakhirati khayrun lillatheena yattaqoona afala taAAqiloona

La présente vie n'est que jeu et amusement. La demeure dans l'au-delà sera meilleure pour ceux qui sont pieux. Eh bien, ne comprenez-vous pas?

What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?

قَدْ نَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُۥ لَيَحْزُنُكَ الَّذِى يَقُولُونَ ۖ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ الظَّٰلِمِينَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ[33]

Qad naAAlamu innahu layahzunuka allathee yaqooloona fainnahum la yukaththiboonaka walakinna alththalimeena biayati Allahi yajhadoona

Nous savons qu'en vérité ce qu'ils disent te chagrine. Or, vraiment ils ne croient pas que tu es menteur, mais ce sont les versets (le Coran) d'Allah, que les injustes renient.

We know indeed the grief which their words do cause thee: It is not thee they reject: it is the signs of Allah, which the wicked contemn.

وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا۟ وَأُوذُوا۟ حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰهُمْ نَصْرُنَا ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِى۟ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[34]

Walaqad kuththibat rusulun min qablika fasabaroo AAala ma kuththiboo waoothoo hatta atahum nasruna wala mubaddila likalimati Allahi walaqad jaaka min nabai almursaleena

Certes, des messagers avant toi (Muhammad) ont été traités de menteurs. Ils endurèrent alors avec constance d'être traités de menteurs et d'être persécutés, jusqu'à ce que Notre secours leur vînt. Et nul ne peut changer les paroles d'Allah, et il t'est déjà parvenu une partie de l'histoire des Envoyés.

Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.

وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِىَ نَفَقًا فِى الْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًا فِى السَّمَآءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِـَٔايَةٍ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ لَجَمَعَهُمْ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ ۚ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْجَٰهِلِينَ[35]

Wain kana kabura AAalayka iAAraduhum faini istataAAta an tabtaghiya nafaqan fee alardi aw sullaman fee alssamai fatatiyahum biayatin walaw shaa Allahu lajamaAAahum AAala alhuda fala takoonanna mina aljahileena

Et si leur indifférence t'afflige énormément, et qu'il est dans ton pouvoir de chercher un tunnel à travers la terre, ou une échelle pour aller au ciel pour leur apporter un miracle, [fais-le donc]. Et si Allah voulait, Il pourrait les mettre tous sur le chemin droit. Ne sois pas du nombre des ignorants.

If their spurning is hard on thy mind, yet if thou wert able to seek a tunnel in the ground or a ladder to the skies and bring them a sign,- (what good?). If it were Allah's will, He could gather them together unto true guidance: so be not thou amongst those who are swayed by ignorance (and impatience)!

۞ إِنَّمَا يَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ وَالْمَوْتَىٰ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ[36]

Innama yastajeebu allatheena yasmaAAoona waalmawta yabAAathuhumu Allahu thumma ilayhi yurjaAAoona

Seuls ceux qui entendent répondent à l'appel [de la foi]. Et quant aux morts, Allah les ressuscitera; puis ils Lui seront ramenés.

Those who listen (in truth), be sure, will accept: as to the dead, Allah will raise them up; then will they be turned unto Him.

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُنَزِّلَ ءَايَةً وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ[37]

Waqaloo lawla nuzzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul inna Allaha qadirun AAala an yunazzila ayatan walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Et ils disent: «Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas fait descendre sur lui (Muhammad) un miracle de la part de son Seigneur?» Dis: «Certes Allah est capable de faire descendre un miracle. Mais la plupart d'entre eux ne savent pas».

They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "Allah hath certainly power to send down a sign: but most of them understand not.

وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَٰٓئِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّآ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِى الْكِتَٰبِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ[38]

Wama min dabbatin fee alardi wala tairin yateeru bijanahayhi illa omamun amthalukum ma farratna fee alkitabi min shayin thumma ila rabbihim yuhsharoona

Nulle bête marchant sur terre, nul oiseau volant de ses ailes, qui ne soit comme vous en communauté. Nous n'avons rien omis d'écrire dans le Livre. Puis, c'est vers leur Seigneur qu'ils seront ramenés.

There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end.

وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا صُمٌّ وَبُكْمٌ فِى الظُّلُمَٰتِ ۗ مَن يَشَإِ اللَّهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ[39]

Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina summun wabukmun fee alththulumati man yashai Allahu yudlilhu waman yasha yajAAalhu AAala siratin mustaqeemin

Et ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos versets sont sourds et muets, dans les ténèbres. Allah égare qui Il veut; et Il place qui Il veut sur un chemin droit.

Those who reject our signs are deaf and dumb,- in the midst of darkness profound: whom Allah willeth, He leaveth to wander: whom He willeth, He placeth on the way that is straight.

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ اللَّهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ السَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ[40]

Qul araaytakum in atakum AAathabu Allahi aw atatkumu alssaAAatu aghayra Allahi tadAAoona in kuntum sadiqeena

Dis: «Informez-moi: si le châtiment d'Allah vous vient, ou que vous vient l'Heure, ferez-vous appel à autre qu'Allah, si vous êtes véridiques?»

Say: "Think ye to yourselves, if there come upon you the wrath of Allah, or the Hour (that ye dread), would ye then call upon other than Allah?- (reply) if ye are truthful!

بَلْ إِيَّاهُ تَدْعُونَ فَيَكْشِفُ مَا تَدْعُونَ إِلَيْهِ إِن شَآءَ وَتَنسَوْنَ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ[41]

Bal iyyahu tadAAoona fayakshifu ma tadAAoona ilayhi in shaa watansawna ma tushrikoona

C'est plutôt à Lui que vous ferez appel. Puis, Il dissipera, s'Il veut, l'objet de votre appel et vous oublierez ce que vous [Lui] associez.

"Nay,- On Him would ye call, and if it be His will, He would remove (the distress) which occasioned your call upon Him, and ye would forget (the false gods) which ye join with Him!"

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِالْبَأْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ[42]

Walaqad arsalna ila omamin min qablika faakhathnahum bialbasai waalddarrai laAAallahum yatadarraAAoona

Nous avons, certes, envoyé (des messagers) aux communautés avant toi. Ensuite Nous les avons saisies par l'adversité et la détresse - peut-être imploreront-ils (la miséricorde)! -

Before thee We sent (messengers) to many nations, and We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity, that they might learn humility.

فَلَوْلَآ إِذْ جَآءَهُم بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا۟ وَلَٰكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَٰنُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[43]

Falawla ith jaahum basuna tadarraAAoo walakin qasat quloobuhum wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Pourquoi donc, lorsque Notre rigueur leur vînt, n'ont-ils pas imploré (la miséricorde)? Mais leurs cœurs s'étaient endurcis et le Diable enjolivait à leurs yeux ce qu'ils faisaient.

When the suffering reached them from us, why then did they not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened, and Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them.

فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَٰبَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتُوٓا۟ أَخَذْنَٰهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ[44]

Falamma nasoo ma thukkiroo bihi fatahna AAalayhim abwaba kulli shayin hatta itha farihoo bima ootoo akhathnahum baghtatan faitha hum mublisoona

Puis, lorsqu'ils eurent oublié ce qu'on leur avait rappelé, Nous leur ouvrîmes les portes donnant sur toute chose (l'abondance); et lorsqu'ils eurent exulté de joie en raison de ce qui leur avait été donné, Nous les saisîmes soudain, et les voilà désespérés.

But when they forgot the warning they had received, We opened to them the gates of all (good) things, until, in the midst of their enjoyment of Our gifts, on a sudden, We called them to account, when lo! they were plunged in despair!

فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[45]

FaqutiAAa dabiru alqawmi allatheena thalamoo waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

Ainsi fut exterminé le dernier reste de ces injustes. Et louange à Allah, Seigneur de l'Univers!

Of the wrong-doers the last remnant was cut off. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher of the worlds.

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ سَمْعَكُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرَكُمْ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُم مَّنْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ ۗ انظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ الْءَايَٰتِ ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُونَ[46]

Qul araaytum in akhatha Allahu samAAakum waabsarakum wakhatama AAala quloobikum man ilahun ghayru Allahi yateekum bihi onthur kayfa nusarrifu alayati thumma hum yasdifoona

Dis: «Voyez-vous? Si Allah prenait votre ouïe et votre vue, et scellait vos cœurs, quelle divinité autre qu'Allah vous les rendrait? Regarde comment, à leur intention, Nous clarifions les preuves! Pourtant ils s'en détournent.

Say: "Think ye, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed up your hearts, who - a god other than Allah - could restore them to you?" See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); yet they turn aside.

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ اللَّهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الظَّٰلِمُونَ[47]

Qul araaytakum in atakum AAathabu Allahi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illa alqawmu alththalimoona

Dis: «Que vous en semble? Si le châtiment d'Allah vous venait à l'improviste ou au grand jour, qui seront détruits sinon les gens injustes?»

Say: "Think ye, if the punishment of Allah comes to you, whether suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed except those who do wrong?

وَمَا نُرْسِلُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖ فَمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَأَصْلَحَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ[48]

Wama nursilu almursaleena illa mubashshireena wamunthireena faman amana waaslaha fala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona

Nous n'envoyons des messagers qu'en annonciateurs et avertisseurs: ceux qui croient donc et se réforment, nulle crainte sur eux et ils ne seront point affligés.

We send the messengers only to give good news and to warn: so those who believe and mend (their lives),- upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَمَسُّهُمُ الْعَذَابُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ[49]

Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina yamassuhumu alAAathabu bima kanoo yafsuqoona

Et ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos preuves, le châtiment les touchera, à cause de leur perversité.

But those who reject our signs,- them shall punishment touch, for that they ceased not from transgressing.

قُل لَّآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِى خَزَآئِنُ اللَّهِ وَلَآ أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ وَلَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنِّى مَلَكٌ ۖ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ ۚ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى الْأَعْمَىٰ وَالْبَصِيرُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَفَكَّرُونَ[50]

Qul la aqoolu lakum AAindee khazainu Allahi wala aAAlamu alghayba wala aqoolu lakum innee malakun in attabiAAu illa ma yooha ilayya qul hal yastawee alaAAma waalbaseeru afala tatafakkaroona

Dis-[leur]: «Je ne vous dis pas que je détiens les trésors d'Allah, ni que je connais l'Inconnaissable, et je ne vous dis pas que je suis un ange. Je ne fais que suivre ce qui m'est révélé.» Dis: «Est-ce que sont égaux l'aveugle et celui qui voit? Ne réfléchissez-vous donc pas?»

Say: "I tell you not that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden, nor do I tell you I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me." Say: "can the blind be held equal to the seeing?" Will ye then consider not?

وَأَنذِرْ بِهِ الَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَن يُحْشَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۙ لَيْسَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ وَلِىٌّ وَلَا شَفِيعٌ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ[51]

Waanthir bihi allatheena yakhafoona an yuhsharoo ila rabbihim laysa lahum min doonihi waliyyun wala shafeeAAun laAAallahum yattaqoona

Et avertis par ceci (le Coran), ceux qui craignent d'être rassemblés devant leur Seigneur, qu'ils n'auront hors d'Allah ni allié ni intercesseur. Peut-être deviendraient-ils pieux!

Give this warning to those in whose (hearts) is the fear that they will be brought (to judgment) before their Lord: except for Him they will have no protector nor intercessor: that they may guard (against evil).

وَلَا تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَوٰةِ وَالْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ مَا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَمَا مِنْ حِسَابِكَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَتَطْرُدَهُمْ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[52]

Wala tatrudi allatheena yadAAoona rabbahum bialghadati waalAAashiyyi yureedoona wajhahu ma AAalayka min hisabihim min shayin wama min hisabika AAalayhim min shayin fatatrudahum fatakoona mina alththalimeena

Et ne repousse pas ceux qui, matin et soir, implorent leur Seigneur, cherchant sa Face «Wajh». Leur demander compte ne t'incombe en rien, et te demander compte ne leur incombe en rien. En les repoussant donc, tu serais du nombre des injustes.

Send not away those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face. In naught art thou accountable for them, and in naught are they accountable for thee, that thou shouldst turn them away, and thus be (one) of the unjust.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ فَتَنَّا بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لِّيَقُولُوٓا۟ أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنۢ بَيْنِنَآ ۗ أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِالشَّٰكِرِينَ[53]

Wakathalika fatanna baAAdahum bibaAAdin liyaqooloo ahaolai manna Allahu AAalayhim min baynina alaysa Allahu biaAAlama bialshshakireena

Ainsi, éprouvons-Nous (les gens) les uns par les autres, pour qu'ils disent: «Est-ce là ceux qu'Allah a favorisés parmi nous?» N'est-ce pas Allah qui sait le mieux lesquels sont reconnaissants?

Thus did We try some of them by comparison with others, that they should say: "Is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?" Doth not Allah know best those who are grateful?

وَإِذَا جَآءَكَ الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَقُلْ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ الرَّحْمَةَ ۖ أَنَّهُۥ مَنْ عَمِلَ مِنكُمْ سُوٓءًۢا بِجَهَٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[54]

Waitha jaaka allatheena yuminoona biayatina faqul salamun AAalaykum kataba rabbukum AAala nafsihi alrrahmata annahu man AAamila minkum sooan bijahalatin thumma taba min baAAdihi waaslaha faannahu ghafoorun raheemun

Et lorsque viennent vers toi ceux qui croient à nos versets (le Coran), dis: «Que la paix soit sur vous! Votre Seigneur S'est prescrit à Lui-même la miséricorde. Et quiconque d'entre vous a fait un mal par ignorance, et ensuite s'est repenti et s'est réformé... Il est, alors, Pardonneur et Miséricordieux».

When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say: "Peace be on you: Your Lord hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! He is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْءَايَٰتِ وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ سَبِيلُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ[55]

Wakathalika nufassilu alayati walitastabeena sabeelu almujrimeena

C'est ainsi que Nous détaillons les versets, afin qu'apparaisse clairement le chemin des criminels.

Thus do We explain the signs in detail: that the way of the sinners may be shown up.

قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَتَّبِعُ أَهْوَآءَكُمْ ۙ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ[56]

Qul innee nuheetu an aAAbuda allatheena tadAAoona min dooni Allahi qul la attabiAAu ahwaakum qad dalaltu ithan wama ana mina almuhtadeena

Dis: «il m'a été interdit d'adorer ceux que vous priez en dehors d'Allah». Dis: «Je ne suivrai pas vos passions: car ce serait m'égarer, et je ne serais plus parmi les bien-guidés».

Say: "I am forbidden to worship those - others than Allah - whom ye call upon." Say: "I will not follow your wain desires: If I did, I would stray from the path, and be not of the company of those who receive guidance."

قُلْ إِنِّى عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَكَذَّبْتُم بِهِۦ ۚ مَا عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۖ يَقُصُّ الْحَقَّ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْفَٰصِلِينَ[57]

Qul innee AAala bayyinatin min rabbee wakaththabtum bihi ma AAindee ma tastaAAjiloona bihi ini alhukmu illa lillahi yaqussu alhaqqa wahuwa khayru alfasileena

Dis: «Je m'appuie sur une preuve évidente de la part de mon Seigneur, et vous avez traité cela de mensonge. Ce (le châtiment) que vous voulez hâter ne dépend pas de moi. Le jugement n'appartient qu'à Allah: Il tranche en toute vérité et Il est le meilleur des juges.

Say: "For me, I (work) on a clear sign from my Lord, but ye reject Him. What ye would see hastened, is not in my power. The command rests with none but Allah: He declares the truth, and He is the best of judges."

قُل لَّوْ أَنَّ عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦ لَقُضِىَ الْأَمْرُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِالظَّٰلِمِينَ[58]

Qul law anna AAindee ma tastaAAjiloona bihi laqudiya alamru baynee wabaynakum waAllahu aAAlamu bialththalimeena

Dis: «Si ce que vous voulez hâter dépendait de moi, ce serait affaire faite entre vous et moi.» C'est Allah qui connaît le mieux les injustes.

Say: "If what ye would see hastened were in my power, the matter would be settled at once between you and me. But Allah knoweth best those who do wrong."

۞ وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ الْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ ۚ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَٰتِ الْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِى كِتَٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ[59]

WaAAindahu mafatihu alghaybi la yaAAlamuha illa huwa wayaAAlamu ma fee albarri waalbahri wama tasqutu min waraqatin illa yaAAlamuha wala habbatin fee thulumati alardi wala ratbin wala yabisin illa fee kitabin mubeenin

C'est Lui qui détient les clefs de l'Inconnaissable. Nul autre que Lui ne les connaît. Et Il connaît ce qui est dans la terre ferme, comme dans la mer. Et pas une feuille ne tombe qu'Il ne le sache. Et pas une graine dans les ténèbres de la terre, rien de frais ou de sec, qui ne soit consigné dans un livre explicite.

With Him are the keys of the unseen, the treasures that none knoweth but He. He knoweth whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf doth fall but with His knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered), but is (inscribed) in a record clear (to those who can read).

وَهُوَ الَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم بِالَّيْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُم بِالنَّهَارِ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيهِ لِيُقْضَىٰٓ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ[60]

Wahuwa allathee yatawaffakum biallayli wayaAAlamu ma jarahtum bialnnahari thumma yabAAathukum feehi liyuqda ajalun musamman thumma ilayhi marjiAAukum thumma yunabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona

Et, la nuit, c'est Lui qui prend vos âmes, et Il sait ce que vous avez acquis pendant le jour. Puis Il vous ressuscite le jour afin que s'accomplisse le terme fixé. Ensuite, c'est vers Lui que sera votre retour, et Il vous informera de ce que vous faisiez.

It is He who doth take your souls by night, and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day: by day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; In the end unto Him will be your return; then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.

وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفَرِّطُونَ[61]

Wahuwa alqahiru fawqa AAibadihi wayursilu AAalaykum hafathatan hatta itha jaa ahadakumu almawtu tawaffathu rusuluna wahum la yufarritoona

Et Il est le Dominateur Suprême sur Ses serviteurs. Et Il envoie sur vous des gardiens. Et lorsque la mort atteint l'un de vous, Nos messagers (les Anges) enlèvent son âme sans aucune négligence.

He is the irresistible, (watching) from above over His worshippers, and He sets guardians over you. At length, when death approaches one of you, Our angels take his soul, and they never fail in their duty.

ثُمَّ رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَوْلَىٰهُمُ الْحَقِّ ۚ أَلَا لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَهُوَ أَسْرَعُ الْحَٰسِبِينَ[62]

Thumma ruddoo ila Allahi mawlahumu alhaqqi ala lahu alhukmu wahuwa asraAAu alhasibeena

Ils sont ensuite ramenés vers Allah, leur vrai Maître. C'est à Lui qu'appartient le jugement et Il est le plus prompt des juges.

Then are men returned unto Allah, their protector, the (only) reality: Is not His the command? and He is the swiftest in taking account.

قُلْ مَن يُنَجِّيكُم مِّن ظُلُمَٰتِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ تَدْعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً لَّئِنْ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّٰكِرِينَ[63]

Qul man yunajjeekum min thulumati albarri waalbahri tadAAoonahu tadarruAAan wakhufyatan lain anjana min hathihi lanakoonanna mina alshshakireena

Dis: «Qui vous délivre des ténèbres de la terre et de la mer?» Vous l'invoquez humblement et en secret: «S'Il nous délivre de ceci, nous serons du nombre des reconnaissants.

Say: "Who is it that delivereth you from the dark recesses of land and sea, when ye call upon Him in humility and silent terror: 'If He only delivers us from these (dangers), (we vow) we shall truly show our gratitude'?"

قُلِ اللَّهُ يُنَجِّيكُم مِّنْهَا وَمِن كُلِّ كَرْبٍ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ[64]

Quli Allahu yunajjeekum minha wamin kulli karbin thumma antum tushrikoona

Dis: «C'est Allah qui vous en délivre ainsi que de toute angoisse. Pourtant, vous Lui donnez des associés».

Say "It is Allah that delivereth you from these and all (other) distresses: and yet ye worship false gods!"

قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُم بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ۗ انظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ الْءَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَفْقَهُونَ[65]

Qul huwa alqadiru AAala an yabAAatha AAalaykum AAathaban min fawqikum aw min tahti arjulikum aw yalbisakum shiyaAAan wayutheeqa baAAdakum basa baAAdin onthur kayfa nusarrifu alayati laAAallahum yafqahoona

Dis: «Il est capable, Lui, de susciter contre vous, d'en haut, ou de dessous vos pieds, un châtiment, ou de vous confondre dans le sectarisme. Et Il vous fait goûter l'ardeur [au combat] les uns aux autres.» Regarde comment Nous exposons Nos versets. Peut-être comprendront-ils?

Say: "He hath power to send calamities on you, from above and below, or to cover you with confusion in party strife, giving you a taste of mutual vengeance - each from the other." See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); that they may understand.

وَكَذَّبَ بِهِۦ قَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ ۚ قُل لَّسْتُ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ[66]

Wakaththaba bihi qawmuka wahuwa alhaqqu qul lastu AAalaykum biwakeelin

Et ton peuple traite cela (le Coran) de mensonge, alors que c'est la vérité. Dis: «Je ne suis pas votre garant.

But thy people reject this, though it is the truth. Say: "Not mine is the responsibility for arranging your affairs;

لِّكُلِّ نَبَإٍ مُّسْتَقَرٌّ ۚ وَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ[67]

Likulli nabain mustaqarrun wasawfa taAAlamoona

Chaque annonce arrive en son temps et en son lieu. Et bientôt vous le saurez.»

For every message is a limit of time, and soon shall ye know it."

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦ ۚ وَإِمَّا يُنسِيَنَّكَ الشَّيْطَٰنُ فَلَا تَقْعُدْ بَعْدَ الذِّكْرَىٰ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[68]

Waitha raayta allatheena yakhoodoona fee ayatina faaAArid AAanhum hatta yakhoodoo fee hadeethin ghayrihi waimma yunsiyannaka alshshaytanu fala taqAAud baAAda alththikra maAAa alqawmi alththalimeena

Quand tu vois ceux qui pataugent dans des discussions à propos de Nos versets, éloigne-toi d'eux jusqu'à ce qu'ils entament une autre discussion. Et si le Diable te fait oublier, alors, dès que tu te rappelles, ne reste pas avec les injustes.

When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about Our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different theme. If Satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong.

وَمَا عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَلَٰكِن ذِكْرَىٰ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ[69]

Wama AAala allatheena yattaqoona min hisabihim min shayin walakin thikra laAAallahum yattaqoona

Il n'incombe nullement à ceux qui sont pieux de rendre compte pour ces gens là. Mais c'est à titre de rappel. Peut-être craindront-ils [Allah].

On their account no responsibility falls on the righteous, but (their duty) is to remind them, that they may (learn to) fear Allah.

وَذَرِ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ لَعِبًا وَلَهْوًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَوٰةُ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَذَكِّرْ بِهِۦٓ أَن تُبْسَلَ نَفْسٌۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِىٌّ وَلَا شَفِيعٌ وَإِن تَعْدِلْ كُلَّ عَدْلٍ لَّا يُؤْخَذْ مِنْهَآ ۗ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ أُبْسِلُوا۟ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ ۖ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ[70]

Wathari allatheena ittakhathoo deenahum laAAiban walahwan wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya wathakkir bihi an tubsala nafsun bima kasabat laysa laha min dooni Allahi waliyyun wala shafeeAAun wain taAAdil kulla AAadlin la yukhath minha olaika allatheena obsiloo bima kasaboo lahum sharabun min hameemin waAAathabun aleemun bima kanoo yakfuroona

Laisse ceux qui prennent leur religion pour jeu et amusement, et qui sont séduits par la vie sur terre. Et rappelle par ceci (le Coran) pour qu'une âme ne s'expose pas à sa perte selon ce qu'elle aura acquis, elle n'aura en dehors d'Allah, ni allié ni intercesseur. Et quelle que soit la compensation qu'elle offrirait, elle ne sera pas acceptée d'elle. Ceux-là se sont abandonnés à leur perdition à cause de ce qu'ils ont acquis. Leur breuvage sera l'eau bouillante et ils auront un châtiment douloureux, pour avoir mécru.

Leave alone those who take their religion to be mere play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But proclaim (to them) this (truth): that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts: it will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah: if it offered every ransom, (or reparation), none will be accepted: such is (the end of) those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts: they will have for drink (only) boiling water, and for punishment, one most grievous: for they persisted in rejecting Allah.

قُلْ أَنَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَىٰنَا اللَّهُ كَالَّذِى اسْتَهْوَتْهُ الشَّيَٰطِينُ فِى الْأَرْضِ حَيْرَانَ لَهُۥٓ أَصْحَٰبٌ يَدْعُونَهُۥٓ إِلَى الْهُدَى ائْتِنَا ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ هُدَى اللَّهِ هُوَ الْهُدَىٰ ۖ وَأُمِرْنَا لِنُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[71]

Qul anadAAoo min dooni Allahi ma la yanfaAAuna wala yadurruna wanuraddu AAala aAAqabina baAAda ith hadana Allahu kaallathee istahwathu alshshayateenu fee alardi hayrana lahu ashabun yadAAoonahu ila alhuda itina qul inna huda Allahi huwa alhuda waomirna linuslima lirabbi alAAalameena

Dis: «Invoquerons-nous, au lieu d'Allah, ce qui ne peut nous profiter ni nous nuire? Et reviendrons-nous sur nos talons après qu'Allah nous a guidés, comme quelqu'un que les diables ont séduit et qui erre perplexe sur la terre, bien que des amis l'appellent vers le droit chemin (lui disant): - «Viens à nous». Dis: «Le vrai chemin, c'est le chemin d'Allah. Et il nous a été commandé de nous soumettre au Seigneur de l'Univers,

Say: "Shall we indeed call on others besides Allah,- things that can do us neither good nor harm,- and turn on our heels after receiving guidance from Allah? - like one whom the evil ones have made into a fool, wandering bewildered through the earth, his friends calling, come to us', (vainly) guiding him to the path." Say: "Allah's guidance is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the Lord of the worlds;-

وَأَنْ أَقِيمُوا۟ الصَّلَوٰةَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ الَّذِىٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ[72]

Waan aqeemoo alssalata waittaqoohu wahuwa allathee ilayhi tuhsharoona

Et d'accomplir la Salât et de Le craindre. C'est vers Lui que vous serez rassemblés».

"To establish regular prayers and to fear Allah: for it is to Him that we shall be gathered together."

وَهُوَ الَّذِى خَلَقَ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ وَيَوْمَ يَقُولُ كُن فَيَكُونُ ۚ قَوْلُهُ الْحَقُّ ۚ وَلَهُ الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى الصُّورِ ۚ عَٰلِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَٰدَةِ ۚ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ[73]

Wahuwa allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda bialhaqqi wayawma yaqoolu kun fayakoonu qawluhu alhaqqu walahu almulku yawma yunfakhu fee alssoori AAalimu alghaybi waalshshahadati wahuwa alhakeemu alkhabeeru

Et c'est Lui qui a créé les cieux et la terre, en toute vérité. Et le jour où Il dit: «Sois!» Cela est, Sa parole est la vérité. A Lui, [seul,] la royauté, le jour où l'on soufflera dans la Trompe. C'est Lui le Connaisseur de ce qui est voilé et de ce qui est manifeste. Et c'est Lui le Sage et le Parfaitement Connaisseur.

It is He who created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): the day He saith, "Be," behold! it is. His word is the truth. His will be the dominion the day the trumpet will be blown. He knoweth the unseen as well as that which is open. For He is the Wise, well acquainted (with all things).

۞ وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ ءَازَرَ أَتَتَّخِذُ أَصْنَامًا ءَالِهَةً ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰكَ وَقَوْمَكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ[74]

Waith qala ibraheemu liabeehi azara atattakhithu asnaman alihatan innee araka waqawmaka fee dalalin mubeenin

(Rappelle le moment) où Abraham dit à `Azar, son père: «Prends-tu des idoles comme divinités? Je te vois, toi et ton peuple, dans un égarement évident!»

Lo! Abraham said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُرِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ مَلَكُوتَ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلِيَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُوقِنِينَ[75]

Wakathalika nuree ibraheema malakoota alssamawati waalardi waliyakoona mina almooqineena

Ainsi avons-Nous montré à Abraham le royaume des cieux et de la terre, afin qu'il fût de ceux qui croient avec conviction.

So also did We show Abraham the power and the laws of the heavens and the earth, that he might (with understanding) have certitude.

فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَيْهِ الَّيْلُ رَءَا كَوْكَبًا ۖ قَالَ هَٰذَا رَبِّى ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَآ أُحِبُّ الْءَافِلِينَ[76]

Falamma janna AAalayhi allaylu raa kawkaban qala hatha rabbee falamma afala qala la ohibbu alafileena

Quand la nuit l'enveloppa, il observa une étoile, et dit: «Voilà mon Seigneur!» Puis, lorsqu'elle disparut, il dit: «Je n'aime pas les choses qui disparaissent».

When the night covered him over, He saw a star: He said: "This is my Lord." But when it set, He said: "I love not those that set."

فَلَمَّا رَءَا الْقَمَرَ بَازِغًا قَالَ هَٰذَا رَبِّى ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَئِن لَّمْ يَهْدِنِى رَبِّى لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الضَّآلِّينَ[77]

Falamma raa alqamara bazighan qala hatha rabbee falamma afala qala lain lam yahdinee rabbee laakoonanna mina alqawmi alddalleena

Lorsqu'ensuite il observa la lune se levant, il dit: «Voilà mon Seigneur!» Puis, lorsqu'elle disparut, il dit: «Si mon Seigneur ne me guide pas, je serai certes du nombre des gens égarés».

When he saw the moon rising in splendour, he said: "This is my Lord." But when the moon set, He said: "unless my Lord guide me, I shall surely be among those who go astray."

فَلَمَّا رَءَا الشَّمْسَ بَازِغَةً قَالَ هَٰذَا رَبِّى هَٰذَآ أَكْبَرُ ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَتْ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ[78]

Falamma raa alshshamsa bazighatan qala hatha rabbee hatha akbaru falamma afalat qala ya qawmi innee bareeon mimma tushrikoona

Lorsqu'ensuite il observa le soleil levant, il dit: «Voilà mon Seigneur! Celui-ci est plus grand» Puis lorsque le soleil disparut, il dit: «O mon peuple, je désavoue tout ce que vous associez à Allah.

When he saw the sun rising in splendour, he said: "This is my Lord; this is the greatest (of all)." But when the sun set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from your (guilt) of giving partners to Allah.

إِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّذِى فَطَرَ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ[79]

Innee wajjahtu wajhiya lillathee fatara alssamawati waalarda haneefan wama ana mina almushrikeena

Je tourne mon visage exclusivement vers Celui qui a créé (à partir du néant) les cieux et la terre; et je ne suis point de ceux qui Lui donnent des associés.»

"For me, I have set my face, firmly and truly, towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to Allah."

وَحَآجَّهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ ۚ قَالَ أَتُحَٰٓجُّوٓنِّى فِى اللَّهِ وَقَدْ هَدَىٰنِ ۚ وَلَآ أَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ رَبِّى شَيْـًٔا ۗ وَسِعَ رَبِّى كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا ۗ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ[80]

Wahajjahu qawmuhu qala atuhajjoonnee fee Allahi waqad hadani wala akhafu ma tushrikoona bihi illa an yashaa rabbee shayan wasiAAa rabbee kulla shayin AAilman afala tatathakkaroona

Son peuple disputa avec lui; mais il dit: «Allez-vous disputer avec moi au sujet d'Allah, alors qu'Il m'a guidé? Je n'ai pas peur des associés que vous Lui donnez. Je ne crains que ce que veut mon Seigneur. Mon Seigneur embrasse tout dans Sa science. Ne vous rappelez-vous donc pas?

His people disputed with him. He said: "(Come) ye to dispute with me, about Allah, when He (Himself) hath guided me? I fear not (the beings) ye associate with Allah: Unless my Lord willeth, (nothing can happen). My Lord comprehendeth in His knowledge all things. Will ye not (yourselves) be admonished?

وَكَيْفَ أَخَافُ مَآ أَشْرَكْتُمْ وَلَا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمْ أَشْرَكْتُم بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَٰنًا ۚ فَأَىُّ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِالْأَمْنِ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ[81]

Wakayfa akhafu ma ashraktum wala takhafoona annakum ashraktum biAllahi ma lam yunazzil bihi AAalaykum sultanan faayyu alfareeqayni ahaqqu bialamni in kuntum taAAlamoona

Et comment aurais-je peur des associés que vous Lui donnez, alors que vous n'avez pas eu peur d'associer à Allah des choses pour lesquelles Il ne vous a fait descendre aucune preuve? Lequel donc des deux partis a le plus droit à la sécurité? (Dites-le) si vous savez.

"How should I fear (the beings) ye associate with Allah, when ye fear not to give partners to Allah without any warrant having been given to you? Which of (us) two parties hath more right to security? (tell me) if ye know.

الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنَهُم بِظُلْمٍ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ الْأَمْنُ وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ[82]

Allatheena amanoo walam yalbisoo eemanahum bithulmin olaika lahumu alamnu wahum muhtadoona

Ceux qui ont cru et n'ont point troublé la pureté de leur foi par quelqu'inéquité (association), ceux-là ont la sécurité; et ce sont eux les bien-guidés».

"It is those who believe and confuse not their beliefs with wrong - that are (truly) in security, for they are on (right) guidance."

وَتِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰهَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ ۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَآءُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ[83]

Watilka hujjatuna ataynaha ibraheema AAala qawmihi narfaAAu darajatin man nashao inna rabbaka hakeemun AAaleemun

Tel est l'argument que Nous inspirâmes à Abraham contre son peuple. Nous élevons en haut rang qui Nous voulons. Ton Seigneur est Sage et Omniscient.

That was the reasoning about Us, which We gave to Abraham (to use) against his people: We raise whom We will, degree after degree: for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge.

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ كُلًّا هَدَيْنَا ۚ وَنُوحًا هَدَيْنَا مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦ دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُوسُفَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[84]

Wawahabna lahu ishaqa wayaAAqooba kullan hadayna wanoohan hadayna min qablu wamin thurriyyatihi dawooda wasulaymana waayyooba wayoosufa wamoosa waharoona wakathalika najzee almuhsineena

Et Nous lui avons donné Isaac et Jacob et Nous les avons guidés tous les deux. Et Noé, Nous l'avons guidé auparavant, et parmi la descendance (d'Abraham) (ou de Noé), David, Salomon, Job, Joseph, Moïse et Aaron. Et c'est ainsi que Nous récompensons les bienfaisants.

We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do We reward those who do good:

وَزَكَرِيَّا وَيَحْيَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَإِلْيَاسَ ۖ كُلٌّ مِّنَ الصَّٰلِحِينَ[85]

Wazakariyya wayahya waAAeesa wailyasa kullun mina alssaliheena

De même, Zacharie, Jean-Baptiste, Jésus et Elie, tous étant du nombre des gens de bien.

And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias: all in the ranks of the righteous:

وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطًا ۚ وَكُلًّا فَضَّلْنَا عَلَى الْعَٰلَمِينَ[86]

WaismaAAeela wailyasaAAa wayoonusa walootan wakullan faddalna AAala alAAalameena

De même, Ismaël, Elisée, Jonas et Lot. Chacun d'eux Nous l'avons favorisé par dessus le reste du monde.

And Isma'il and Elisha, and Jonas, and Lot: and to all We gave favour above the nations:

وَمِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمْ وَإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ ۖ وَاجْتَبَيْنَٰهُمْ وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ[87]

Wamin abaihim wathurriyyatihim waikhwanihim waijtabaynahum wahadaynahum ila siratin mustaqeemin

De même une partie de leurs ancêtres, de leurs descendants et de leurs frères et Nous les avons choisis et guidés vers un chemin droit.

(To them) and to their fathers, and progeny and brethren: We chose them, and we guided them to a straight way.

ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى اللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[88]

Thalika huda Allahi yahdee bihi man yashao min AAibadihi walaw ashrakoo lahabita AAanhum ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Telle est la direction par laquelle Allah guide qui Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs. Mais s'ils avaient donné à Allah des associés, alors, tout ce qu'ils auraient fait eût certainement été vain.

This is the guidance of Allah: He giveth that guidance to whom He pleaseth, of His worshippers. If they were to join other gods with Him, all that they did would be vain for them.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ الْكِتَٰبَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ ۚ فَإِن يَكْفُرْ بِهَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ فَقَدْ وَكَّلْنَا بِهَا قَوْمًا لَّيْسُوا۟ بِهَا بِكَٰفِرِينَ[89]

Olaika allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba waalhukma waalnnubuwwata fain yakfur biha haolai faqad wakkalna biha qawman laysoo biha bikafireena

C'est à eux que Nous avons apporté le Livre, la sagesse et la prophétie. Si ces autres-là n'y croient pas, du moins Nous avons confié ces choses à des gens qui ne les nient pas.

These were the men to whom We gave the Book, and authority, and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them, Behold! We shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ هَدَى اللَّهُ ۖ فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ اقْتَدِهْ ۗ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا ۖ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَٰلَمِينَ[90]

Olaika allatheena hada Allahu fabihudahumu iqtadih qul la asalukum AAalayhi ajran in huwa illa thikra lilAAalameena

Voilà ceux qu'Allah a guidés: suis donc leur direction. Dis: «Je ne vous demande pas pour cela de salaire». Ce n'est qu'un rappel à l'intention de tout l'univers.

Those were the (prophets) who received Allah's guidance: Copy the guidance they received; Say: "No reward for this do I ask of you: This is no less than a message for the nations."

وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِۦٓ إِذْ قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ بَشَرٍ مِّن شَىْءٍ ۗ قُلْ مَنْ أَنزَلَ الْكِتَٰبَ الَّذِى جَآءَ بِهِۦ مُوسَىٰ نُورًا وَهُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ تَجْعَلُونَهُۥ قَرَاطِيسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَعُلِّمْتُم مَّا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنتُمْ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ فِى خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ[91]

Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqa qadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala Allahu AAala basharin min shayin qul man anzala alkitaba allathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan lilnnasi tajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoona katheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokum quli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihim yalAAaboona

Ils n'apprécient pas Allah comme Il le mérite quand ils disent: «Allah n'a rien fait descendre sur un humain.» Dis: «Qui a fait descendre le Livre que Moïse a apporté comme lumière et guide, pour les gens? Vous le mettez en feuillets, pour en montrer une partie, tout en cachant beaucoup. Vous avez été instruits de ce que vous ne saviez pas, ni vous ni vos ancêtres. Dis: «C'est Allah». Et puis, laisse-les s'amuser dans leur égarement.

No just estimate of Allah do they make when they say: "Nothing doth Allah send down to man (by way of revelation)" Say: "Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought?- a light and guidance to man: But ye make it into (separate) sheets for show, while ye conceal much (of its contents): therein were ye taught that which ye knew not- neither ye nor your fathers." Say: "Allah (sent it down)": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling.

وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ مُّصَدِّقُ الَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلِتُنذِرَ أُمَّ الْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا ۚ وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْءَاخِرَةِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ[92]

Wahatha kitabun anzalnahu mubarakun musaddiqu allathee bayna yadayhi walitunthira omma alqura waman hawlaha waallatheena yuminoona bialakhirati yuminoona bihi wahum AAala salatihim yuhafithoona

Voici un Livre (le Coran) béni que Nous avons fait descendre, confirmant ce qui existait déjà avant lui, afin que tu avertisses la Mère des Cités (la Mecque) et les gens tout autour. Ceux qui croient au Jour dernier, y croient et demeurent assidus dans leur Salât.

And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ قَالَ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ وَلَمْ يُوحَ إِلَيْهِ شَىْءٌ وَمَن قَالَ سَأُنزِلُ مِثْلَ مَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ ۗ وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ الظَّٰلِمُونَ فِى غَمَرَٰتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ بَاسِطُوٓا۟ أَيْدِيهِمْ أَخْرِجُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمُ ۖ الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَكُنتُمْ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ[93]

Waman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw qala oohiya ilayya walam yooha ilayhi shayon waman qala saonzilu mithla ma anzala Allahu walaw tara ithi alththalimoona fee ghamarati almawti waalmalaikatu basitoo aydeehim akhrijoo anfusakumu alyawma tujzawna AAathaba alhooni bima kuntum taqooloona AAala Allahi ghayra alhaqqi wakuntum AAan ayatihi tastakbiroona

Et quel pire injuste que celui qui fabrique un mensonge contre Allah ou qui dit: «Révélation m'a été faite», quand rien ne lui a été révélé. De même celui qui dit: «Je vais faire descendre quelque chose de semblable à ce qu'Allah a fait descendre.» Si tu voyais les injustes lorsqu'ils seront dans les affres de la mort, et que les Anges leur tendront les mains (disant): «Laissez sortir vos âmes. Aujourd'hui vous allez être récompensés par le châtiment de l'humiliation pour ce que vous disiez sur Allah d'autre que la vérité et parce que vous vous détourniez orgueilleusement de Ses enseignements».

Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah, or saith, "I have received inspiration," when he hath received none, or (again) who saith, "I can reveal the like of what Allah hath revealed"? If thou couldst but see how the wicked (do fare) in the flood of confusion at death! - the angels stretch forth their hands, (saying),"Yield up your souls: this day shall ye receive your reward,- a penalty of shame, for that ye used to tell lies against Allah, and scornfully to reject of His signs!"

وَلَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا فُرَٰدَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَتَرَكْتُم مَّا خَوَّلْنَٰكُمْ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ ۖ وَمَا نَرَىٰ مَعَكُمْ شُفَعَآءَكُمُ الَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّهُمْ فِيكُمْ شُرَكَٰٓؤُا۟ ۚ لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنكُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ[94]

Walaqad jitumoona furada kama khalaqnakum awwala marratin wataraktum ma khawwalnakum waraa thuhoorikum wama nara maAAakum shufaAAaakumu allatheena zaAAamtum annahum feekum shurakao laqad taqattaAAa baynakum wadalla AAankum ma kuntum tazAAumoona

Et vous voici venus à Nous, seuls, tout comme Nous vous avions créés la première fois, abandonnant derrière vos dos tout ce que Nous vous avions accordé. Nous ne vous voyons point accompagnés des intercesseurs que vous prétendiez être des associés. Il y a certainement eu rupture entre vous: ils vous ont abandonnés, ceux que vous prétendiez (être vos intercesseurs).

"And behold! ye come to us bare and alone as We created you for the first time: ye have left behind you all (the favours) which We bestowed on you: We see not with you your intercessors whom ye thought to be partners in your affairs: so now all relations between you have been cut off, and your (pet) fancies have left you in the lurch!"

۞ إِنَّ اللَّهَ فَالِقُ الْحَبِّ وَالنَّوَىٰ ۖ يُخْرِجُ الْحَىَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَمُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتِ مِنَ الْحَىِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ[95]

Inna Allaha faliqu alhabbi waalnnawa yukhriju alhayya mina almayyiti wamukhriju almayyiti mina alhayyi thalikumu Allahu faanna tufakoona

C'est Allah qui fait fendre la graine et le noyau: du mort il fait sortir le vivant, et du vivant, il fait sortir le mort. Tel est Allah. Comment donc vous laissez-vous détourner?

It is Allah Who causeth the seed-grain and the date-stone to split and sprout. He causeth the living to issue from the dead, and He is the one to cause the dead to issue from the living. That is Allah: then how are ye deluded away from the truth?

فَالِقُ الْإِصْبَاحِ وَجَعَلَ الَّيْلَ سَكَنًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ حُسْبَانًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ[96]

Faliqu alisbahi wajaAAala allayla sakanan waalshshamsa waalqamara husbanan thalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleemi

Fendeur de l'aube, Il a fait de la nuit une phase de repos; le soleil et la lune pour mesurer le temps. Voilà l'ordre conçu par le Puissant, l'Omniscient.

He it is that cleaveth the day-break (from the dark): He makes the night for rest and tranquillity, and the sun and moon for the reckoning (of time): Such is the judgment and ordering of (Him), the Exalted in Power, the Omniscient.

وَهُوَ الَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ النُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهَا فِى ظُلُمَٰتِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْءَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ[97]

Wahuwa allathee jaAAala lakumu alnnujooma litahtadoo biha fee thulumati albarri waalbahri qad fassalna alayati liqawmin yaAAlamoona

Et c'est Lui qui vous a assigné les étoiles, pour que, par elles, vous vous guidiez dans les ténèbres de la terre et de la mer. Certes, Nous exposons les preuves pour ceux qui savent!

It is He Who maketh the stars (as beacons) for you, that ye may guide yourselves, with their help, through the dark spaces of land and sea: We detail Our signs for people who know.

وَهُوَ الَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ فَمُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْءَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَفْقَهُونَ[98]

Wahuwa allathee anshaakum min nafsin wahidatin famustaqarrun wamustawdaAAun qad fassalna alayati liqawmin yafqahoona

Et c'est Lui qui vous a créés à partir d'une personne unique (Adam). Et il y a une demeure et un lieu de dépôt (pour vous.) Nous avons exposé les preuves pour ceux qui comprennent.

It is He Who hath produced you from a single person: here is a place of sojourn and a place of departure: We detail Our signs for people who understand.

وَهُوَ الَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهُ خَضِرًا نُّخْرِجُ مِنْهُ حَبًّا مُّتَرَاكِبًا وَمِنَ النَّخْلِ مِن طَلْعِهَا قِنْوَانٌ دَانِيَةٌ وَجَنَّٰتٍ مِّنْ أَعْنَابٍ وَالزَّيْتُونَ وَالرُّمَّانَ مُشْتَبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَٰبِهٍ ۗ انظُرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَيَنْعِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكُمْ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ[99]

Wahuwa allathee anzala mina alssamai maan faakhrajna bihi nabata kulli shayin faakhrajna minhu khadiran nukhriju minhu habban mutarakiban wamina alnnakhli min talAAiha qinwanun daniyatun wajannatin min aAAnabin waalzzaytoona waalrrummana mushtabihan waghayra mutashabihin onthuroo ila thamarihi itha athmara wayanAAihi inna fee thalikum laayatin liqawmin yuminoona

Et c'est Lui qui, du ciel, a fait descendre l'eau. Puis par elle, Nous fîmes germer toute plante, de quoi Nous fîmes sortir une verdure, d'où Nous produisîmes des grains, superposés les uns sur les autres; et du palmier, de sa spathe, des régimes de dattes qui se tendent. Et aussi les jardins de raisins, l'olive et la grenade, semblables ou différents les uns des autres. Regardez leurs fruits au moment de leur production et de leur mûrissement. Voilà bien là des signes pour ceux qui ont la foi.

It is He Who sendeth down rain from the skies: with it We produce vegetation of all kinds: from some We produce green (crops), out of which We produce grain, heaped up (at harvest); out of the date-palm and its sheaths (or spathes) (come) clusters of dates hanging low and near: and (then there are) gardens of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety): when they begin to bear fruit, feast your eyes with the fruit and the ripeness thereof. Behold! in these things there are signs for people who believe.

وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ الْجِنَّ وَخَلَقَهُمْ ۖ وَخَرَقُوا۟ لَهُۥ بَنِينَ وَبَنَٰتٍۭ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ[100]

WajaAAaloo lillahi shurakaa aljinna wakhalaqahum wakharaqoo lahu baneena wabanatin bighayri AAilmin subhanahu wataAAala AAamma yasifoona

Et ils ont désigné des associés à Allah: les djinns, alors que c'est Lui qui les a créés. Et ils Lui ont inventé, dans leur ignorance, des fils et des filles, Gloire à Lui! Il transcende tout ce qu'ils lui attribuent.

Yet they make the Jinns equals with Allah, though Allah did create the Jinns; and they falsely, having no knowledge, attribute to Him sons and daughters. Praise and glory be to Him! (for He is) above what they attribute to Him!

بَدِيعُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ تَكُن لَّهُۥ صَٰحِبَةٌ ۖ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ[101]

BadeeAAu alssamawati waalardi anna yakoonu lahu waladun walam takun lahu sahibatun wakhalaqa kulla shayin wahuwa bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Créateur des cieux et de la terre. Comment aurait-Il un enfant, quand Il n'a pas de compagne? C'est Lui qui a tout créé, et Il est Omniscient.

To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth: How can He have a son when He hath no consort? He created all things, and He hath full knowledge of all things.

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَاعْبُدُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَكِيلٌ[102]

Thalikumu Allahu rabbukum la ilaha illa huwa khaliqu kulli shayin faoAAbudoohu wahuwa AAala kulli shayin wakeelun

Voilà Allah, votre Seigneur! Il n'y a de divinité que Lui, Créateur de tout. Adorez-Le donc. C'est Lui qui a charge de tout.

That is Allah, your Lord! there is no god but He, the Creator of all things: then worship ye Him: and He hath power to dispose of all affairs.

لَّا تُدْرِكُهُ الْأَبْصَٰرُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الْأَبْصَٰرَ ۖ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ[103]

La tudrikuhu alabsaru wahuwa yudriku alabsara wahuwa allateefu alkhabeeru

Les regards ne peuvent l'atteindre, cependant qu'Il saisit tous les regards. Et Il est le Doux, le Parfaitement Connaisseur.

No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.

قَدْ جَآءَكُم بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أَبْصَرَ فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِىَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۚ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ[104]

Qad jaakum basairu min rabbikum faman absara falinafsihi waman AAamiya faAAalayha wama ana AAalaykum bihafeethin

Certes, il vous est parvenu des preuves évidentes, de la part de votre Seigneur. Donc, quiconque voit clair, c'est en sa faveur; et quiconque reste aveugle, c'est à son détriment, car je ne suis nullement chargé de votre sauvegarde.

"Now have come to you, from your Lord, proofs (to open your eyes): if any will see, it will be for (the good of) his own soul; if any will be blind, it will be to his own (harm): I am not (here) to watch over your doings."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الْءَايَٰتِ وَلِيَقُولُوا۟ دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُۥ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ[105]

Wakathalika nusarrifu alayati waliyaqooloo darasta walinubayyinahu liqawmin yaAAlamoona

C'est ainsi que Nous expliquons les versets. Et afin qu'ils disent: «Tu as étudié». Et afin de l'exposer clairement à des gens qui savent.

Thus do we explain the signs by various (symbols): that they may say, "Thou hast taught (us) diligently," and that We may make the matter clear to those who know.

اتَّبِعْ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ[106]

IttabiAA ma oohiya ilayka min rabbika la ilaha illa huwa waaAArid AAani almushrikeena

Suis ce qui t'est révélé de la part de ton Seigneur. Point de divinité autre que Lui. Et écarte-toi des associateurs.

Follow what thou art taught by inspiration from thy Lord: there is no god but He: and turn aside from those who join gods with Allah.

وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ مَآ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ[107]

Walaw shaa Allahu ma ashrakoo wama jaAAalnaka AAalayhim hafeethan wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelin

Si Allah voulait, ils ne seraient point associateurs! Mais Nous ne t'avons pas désigné comme gardien sur eux; et tu n'es pas leur garant.

If it had been Allah's plan, they would not have taken false gods: but We made thee not one to watch over their doings, nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs.

وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا۟ اللَّهَ عَدْوًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِم مَّرْجِعُهُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[108]

Wala tasubboo allatheena yadAAoona min dooni Allahi fayasubboo Allaha AAadwan bighayri AAilmin kathalika zayyanna likulli ommatin AAamalahum thumma ila rabbihim marjiAAuhum fayunabbiohum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

N'injuriez pas ceux qu'ils invoquent, en dehors d'Allah, car par agressivité, ils injurieraient Allah, dans leur ignorance. De même, Nous avons enjolivé (aux yeux) de chaque communauté sa propre action. Ensuite, c'est vers leur Seigneur que sera leur retour; et Il les informera de ce qu'ils œuvraient.

Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did.

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهَا ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا الْءَايَٰتُ عِندَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا يُشْعِرُكُمْ أَنَّهَآ إِذَا جَآءَتْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ[109]

Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim lain jaathum ayatun layuminunna biha qul innama alayatu AAinda Allahi wama yushAAirukum annaha itha jaat la yuminoona

Et ils jurent par Allah de toute la force de leurs serments, que s'il leur venait un miracle, ils y croiraient (sans hésiter,) Dis: «En vérité, les miracles ne dépendent que d'Allah.» Mais qu'est ce qui vous fait penser que quand cela (le signe) arrivera, ils n'y croiront pas?

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that if a (special) sign came to them, by it they would believe. Say: "Certainly (all) signs are in the power of Allah: but what will make you (Muslims) realise that (even) if (special) signs came, they will not believe."?

وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ[110]

Wanuqallibu afidatahum waabsarahum kama lam yuminoo bihi awwala marratin wanatharuhum fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona

Parce qu'ils n'ont pas cru la première fois, nous détournerons leurs cœurs et leurs yeux; nous les laisserons marcher aveuglement dans leur rébellion.

We (too) shall turn to (confusion) their hearts and their eyes, even as they refused to believe in this in the first instance: We shall leave them in their trespasses, to wander in distraction.

۞ وَلَوْ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ الْمَوْتَىٰ وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ قُبُلًا مَّا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ اللَّهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ[111]

Walaw annana nazzalna ilayhimu almalaikata wakallamahumu almawta wahasharna AAalayhim kulla shayin qubulan ma kanoo liyuminoo illa an yashaa Allahu walakinna aktharahum yajhaloona

Et si Nous faisions descendre les Anges vers eux, [comme ils l'avaient proposé] si les morts leur parlaient, et si Nous rassemblions toute chose devant eux, ils ne croiraient que si Allah veut. Mais la plupart d'entre eux ignorent.

Even if We did send unto them angels, and the dead did speak unto them, and We gathered together all things before their very eyes, they are not the ones to believe, unless it is in Allah's plan. But most of them ignore (the truth).

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيَٰطِينَ الْإِنسِ وَالْجِنِّ يُوحِى بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ زُخْرُفَ الْقَوْلِ غُرُورًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ[112]

Wakathalika jaAAalna likulli nabiyyin AAaduwwan shayateena alinsi waaljinni yoohee baAAduhum ila baAAdin zukhrufa alqawli ghurooran walaw shaa rabbuka ma faAAaloohu fatharhum wama yaftaroona

Ainsi, à chaque prophète avons-Nous assigné un ennemi: des diables d'entre les hommes et les djinns, qui s'inspirent trompeusement les uns aux autres des paroles enjolivées. Si ton Seigneur avait voulu, ils ne l'auraient pas fait; laisse-les donc avec ce qu'ils inventent.

Likewise did We make for every Messenger an enemy,- evil ones among men and jinns, inspiring each other with flowery discourses by way of deception. If thy Lord had so planned, they would not have done it: so leave them and their inventions alone.

وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَفْـِٔدَةُ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْءَاخِرَةِ وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟ مَا هُم مُّقْتَرِفُونَ[113]

Walitasgha ilayhi afidatu allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati waliyardawhu waliyaqtarifoo ma hum muqtarifoona

Et pour que les cœurs de ceux qui ne croient pas à l'au-delà se penchent vers elles, qu'ils les agréent, et qu'ils perpètrent ce qu'ils perpètrent.

To such (deceit) let the hearts of those incline, who have no faith in the hereafter: let them delight in it, and let them earn from it what they may.

أَفَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْتَغِى حَكَمًا وَهُوَ الَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكِتَٰبَ مُفَصَّلًا ۚ وَالَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ الْكِتَٰبَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُۥ مُنَزَّلٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُمْتَرِينَ[114]

Afaghayra Allahi abtaghee hakaman wahuwa allathee anzala ilaykumu alkitaba mufassalan waallatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yaAAlamoona annahu munazzalun min rabbika bialhaqqi fala takoonanna mina almumtareena

Chercherai-je un autre juge qu'Allah, alors que c'est Lui qui a fait descendre vers vous ce Livre bien exposé? Ceux auxquels Nous avons donné le Livre savent qu'il est descendu avec la vérité venant de ton Seigneur. Ne sois donc point du nombre de ceux qui doutent.

Say: "Shall I seek for judge other than Allah? - when He it is Who hath sent unto you the Book, explained in detail." They know full well, to whom We have given the Book, that it hath been sent down from thy Lord in truth. Never be then of those who doubt.

وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًا وَعَدْلًا ۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ[115]

Watammat kalimatu rabbika sidqan waAAadlan la mubaddila likalimatihi wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

Et la parole de ton Seigneur s'est accomplie en toute vérité et équité. Nul ne peut modifier Ses paroles. Il est l'Audient, l'Omniscient.

The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.

وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى الْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ[116]

Wain tutiAA akthara man fee alardi yudillooka AAan sabeeli Allahi in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wain hum illa yakhrusoona

Et si tu obéis à la majorité de ceux qui sont sur la terre, ils t'égareront du sentier d'Allah: ils ne suivent que la conjecture et ne font que fabriquer des mensonges.

Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth, they will lead thee away from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ مَن يَضِلُّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ[117]

Inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu man yadillu AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bialmuhtadeena

Certes ton Seigneur connaît le mieux ceux qui s'égarent de Son sentier, et c'est Lui qui connaît le mieux les bien-guidés.

Thy Lord knoweth best who strayeth from His way: He knoweth best who they are that receive His guidance.

فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُم بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ[118]

Fakuloo mimma thukira ismu Allahi AAalayhi in kuntum biayatihi mumineena

Mangez donc de ce sur quoi on a prononcé le nom d'Allah si vous êtes croyants en Ses versets (le Coran).

So eat of (meats) on which Allah's name hath been pronounced, if ye have faith in His signs.

وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُم مَّا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا لَّيُضِلُّونَ بِأَهْوَآئِهِم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُعْتَدِينَ[119]

Wama lakum alla takuloo mimma thukira ismu Allahi AAalayhi waqad fassala lakum ma harrama AAalaykum illa ma idturirtum ilayhi wainna katheeran layudilloona biahwaihim bighayri AAilmin inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu bialmuAAtadeena

Qu'avez-vous à ne pas manger de ce sur quoi le nom d'Allah a été prononcé? Alors qu'Il vous a détaillé ce qu'Il vous a interdit, à moins que vous ne soyez contraints d'y recourir. Beaucoup de gens égarent, sans savoir, par leurs passions. C'est ton Seigneur qui connaît le mieux les transgresseurs.

Why should ye not eat of (meats) on which Allah's name hath been pronounced, when He hath explained to you in detail what is forbidden to you - except under compulsion of necessity? But many do mislead (men) by their appetites unchecked by knowledge. Thy Lord knoweth best those who transgress.

وَذَرُوا۟ ظَٰهِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْسِبُونَ الْإِثْمَ سَيُجْزَوْنَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَقْتَرِفُونَ[120]

Watharoo thahira alithmi wabatinahu inna allatheena yaksiboona alithma sayujzawna bima kanoo yaqtarifoona

Evitez le péché apparent ou caché, (car) ceux qui acquièrent le péché seront rétribués selon ce qu'ils auront commis.

Eschew all sin, open or secret: those who earn sin will get due recompense for their "earnings."

وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِسْقٌ ۗ وَإِنَّ الشَّيَٰطِينَ لَيُوحُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ لِيُجَٰدِلُوكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ[121]

Wala takuloo mimma lam yuthkari ismu Allahi AAalayhi wainnahu lafisqun wainna alshshayateena layoohoona ila awliyaihim liyujadilookum wain ataAAtumoohum innakum lamushrikoona

Et ne mangez pas de ce sur quoi le nom d'Allah n'a pas été prononcé, car ce serait (assurément) une perversité. Les diables inspirent à leurs alliés de disputer avec vous. Si vous leur obéissez, vous deviendrez certes des associateurs.

Eat not of (meats) on which Allah's name hath not been pronounced: That would be impiety. But the evil ones ever inspire their friends to contend with you if ye were to obey them, ye would indeed be Pagans.

أَوَمَن كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَٰهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُۥ نُورًا يَمْشِى بِهِۦ فِى النَّاسِ كَمَن مَّثَلُهُۥ فِى الظُّلُمَٰتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِّنْهَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[122]

Awa man kana maytan faahyaynahu wajaAAalna lahu nooran yamshee bihi fee alnnasi kaman mathaluhu fee alththulumati laysa bikharijin minha kathalika zuyyina lilkafireena ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Est-ce que celui qui était mort et que Nous avons ramené à la vie et à qui Nous avons assigné une lumière grâce à laquelle il marche parmi les gens, est pareil à celui qui est dans les ténèbres sans pouvoir en sortir? Ainsi on a enjolivé aux mécréants ce qu'ils œuvrent.

Can he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a light whereby he can walk amongst men, be like him who is in the depths of darkness, from which he can never come out? Thus to those without faith their own deeds seem pleasing.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ أَكَٰبِرَ مُجْرِمِيهَا لِيَمْكُرُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ وَمَا يَمْكُرُونَ إِلَّا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ[123]

Wakathalika jaAAalna fee kulli qaryatin akabira mujrimeeha liyamkuroo feeha wama yamkuroona illa bianfusihim wama yashAAuroona

Ainsi, Nous avons placé dans chaque cité de grands criminels qui y ourdissent des complots. Mais ils ne complotent que contre eux-mêmes et ils n'en sont pas conscients.

Thus have We placed leaders in every town, its wicked men, to plot (and burrow) therein: but they only plot against their own souls, and they perceive it not.

وَإِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ حَتَّىٰ نُؤْتَىٰ مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ رُسُلُ اللَّهِ ۘ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ يَجْعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۗ سَيُصِيبُ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ صَغَارٌ عِندَ اللَّهِ وَعَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَمْكُرُونَ[124]

Waitha jaathum ayatun qaloo lan numina hatta nuta mithla ma ootiya rusulu Allahi Allahu aAAlamu haythu yajAAalu risalatahu sayuseebu allatheena ajramoo sagharun AAinda Allahi waAAathabun shadeedun bima kanoo yamkuroona

Et lorsqu'une preuve leur vient, ils disent: «Jamais nous ne croirons tant que nous n'aurons pas reçu un don semblable à celui qui a été donné aux messagers d'Allah». Allah sait mieux où placer Son message. Ceux qui ont commis le crime seront atteints d'un rapetissement auprès d'Allah ainsi que d'un supplice sévère pour les ruses qu'ils tramaient.

When there comes to them a sign (from Allah), They say: "We shall not believe until we receive one (exactly) like those received by Allah's messengers." Allah knoweth best where (and how) to carry out His mission. Soon will the wicked be overtaken by humiliation before Allah, and a severe punishment, for all their plots.

فَمَن يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُۥ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَٰمِ ۖ وَمَن يُرِدْ أَن يُضِلَّهُۥ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُۥ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِى السَّمَآءِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ الرِّجْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ[125]

Faman yuridi Allahu an yahdiyahu yashrah sadrahu lilislami waman yurid an yudillahu yajAAal sadrahu dayyiqan harajan kaannama yassaAAAAadu fee alssamai kathalika yajAAalu Allahu alrrijsa AAala allatheena la yuminoona

Et puis, quiconque Allah veut guider, Il lui ouvre la poitrine à l'Islam. Et quiconque Il veut égarer, Il rend sa poitrine étroite et gênée, comme s'il s'efforçait de monter au ciel. Ainsi Allah inflige Sa punition à ceux qui ne croient pas.

Those whom Allah (in His plan) willeth to guide,- He openeth their breast to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying,- He maketh their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe.

وَهَٰذَا صِرَٰطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْءَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ[126]

Wahatha siratu rabbika mustaqeeman qad fassalna alayati liqawmin yaththakkaroona

Telle est la voie de ton Seigneur dans toute sa rectitude. Nous avons [effectivement] bien détaillé les signes (ou versets) à des gens qui se rappellent.

This is the way of thy Lord, leading straight: We have detailed the signs for those who receive admonition.

۞ لَهُمْ دَارُ السَّلَٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[127]

Lahum daru alssalami AAinda rabbihim wahuwa waliyyuhum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

Pour eux la maison du Salut auprès de leur Seigneur. Et c'est Lui qui est leur protecteur, pour ce qu'ils faisaient (sur terre).

For them will be a home of peace in the presence of their Lord: He will be their friend, because they practised (righteousness).

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَٰمَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ قَدِ اسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ الْإِنسِ ۖ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ الْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا اسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا الَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَا ۚ قَالَ النَّارُ مَثْوَىٰكُمْ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ[128]

Wayawma yahshuruhum jameeAAan ya maAAshara aljinni qadi istakthartum mina alinsi waqala awliyaohum mina alinsi rabbana istamtaAAa baAAduna bibaAAdin wabalaghna ajalana allathee ajjalta lana qala alnnaru mathwakum khalideena feeha illa ma shaa Allahu inna rabbaka hakeemun AAaleemun

Et le jour où Il les rassemblera tous: «O communauté des djinns, vous avez trop abusé des humains». Et leurs alliés parmi les humains diront: «O notre Seigneur, nous avons profité les uns des autres, et nous avons atteint le terme que Tu avais fixé pour nous.» Il leur dira: «l'Enfer est votre demeure, pour y rester éternellement, sauf si Allah en décide autrement.» Vraiment ton Seigneur est Sage et Omniscient.

One day will He gather them all together, (and say): "O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men." Their friends amongst men will say: "Our Lord! we made profit from each other: but (alas!) we reached our term - which thou didst appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling-place: you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth." for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُوَلِّى بَعْضَ الظَّٰلِمِينَ بَعْضًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ[129]

Wakathalika nuwallee baAAda alththalimeena baAAdan bima kanoo yaksiboona

Et ainsi accordons-Nous, à certains injustes l'autorité sur d'autres, (injustes) à cause de ce qu'ils ont acquis.

Thus do we make the wrong-doers turn to each other, because of what they earn.

يَٰمَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَٰتِى وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَا ۚ قَالُوا۟ شَهِدْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَا ۖ وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَوٰةُ الدُّنْيَا وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰفِرِينَ[130]

Ya maAAshara aljinni waalinsi alam yatikum rusulun minkum yaqussoona AAalaykum ayatee wayunthiroonakum liqaa yawmikum hatha qaloo shahidna AAala anfusina wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahum kanoo kafireena

O communauté des djinns et des humains, ne vous est-il pas venu des messagers, choisis parmi vous, qui vous ont raconté Mes signes et averti de la rencontre de ce jour? Ils diront: «Nous témoignons contre nous-mêmes.» La vie présente les a trompés; et ils ont témoigné contre eux-mêmes qu'en (vérité) ils étaient mécréants.

"O ye assembly of Jinns and men! came there not unto you messengers from amongst you, setting forth unto you My signs, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say: "We bear witness against ourselves." It was the life of this world that deceived them. So against themselves will they bear witness that they rejected Faith.

ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ الْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَٰفِلُونَ[131]

Thalika an lam yakun rabbuka muhlika alqura bithulmin waahluha ghafiloona

C'est que ton Seigneur n'anéantit point injustement des cités dont les gens ne sont pas encore avertis.

(The messengers were sent) thus, for thy Lord would not destroy for their wrong-doing men's habitations whilst their occupants were unwarned.

وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَٰتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ[132]

Walikullin darajatun mimma AAamiloo wama rabbuka bighafilin AAamma yaAAmaloona

A chacun des rangs (des récompenses) selon ses œuvres. Or ton Seigneur n'est pas inattentif à ce qu'ils font.

To all are degrees (or ranks) according to their deeds: for thy Lord is not unmindful of anything that they do.

وَرَبُّكَ الْغَنِىُّ ذُو الرَّحْمَةِ ۚ إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ مِنۢ بَعْدِكُم مَّا يَشَآءُ كَمَآ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن ذُرِّيَّةِ قَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ[133]

Warabbuka alghaniyyu thoo alrrahmati in yasha yuthhibkum wayastakhlif min baAAdikum ma yashao kama anshaakum min thurriyyati qawmin akhareena

Ton Seigneur est le Suffisant à Soi-même, le Détenteur de la miséricorde. S'Il voulait, Il vous ferait périr et mettrait à votre place qui Il veut, de même qu'Il vous a créés d'une descendance d'un autre peuple.

Thy Lord is self-sufficient, full of Mercy: if it were His will, He could destroy you, and in your place appoint whom He will as your successors, even as He raised you up from the posterity of other people.

إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَءَاتٍ ۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ[134]

Inna ma tooAAadoona laatin wama antum bimuAAjizeena

Ce qui vous a été promis arrivera (certainement.) Et vous n'êtes pas à même de [Nous] réduire à l'impuissance.

All that hath been promised unto you will come to pass: nor can ye frustrate it (in the least bit).

قُلْ يَٰقَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّى عَامِلٌ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَٰقِبَةُ الدَّارِ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّٰلِمُونَ[135]

Qul ya qawmi iAAmaloo AAala makanatikum innee AAamilun fasawfa taAAlamoona man takoonu lahu AAaqibatu alddari innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona

Dis: «O mon peuple! Continuez à agir selon votre méthode; moi aussi j'agirai selon la mienne. Ensuite, vous saurez qui aura un meilleur (sort) dans l'au-delà.» Certes, les injustes ne réussiront jamais.

Say: "O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): soon will ye know who it is whose end will be (best) in the Hereafter: certain it is that the wrong-doers will not prosper."

وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ مِمَّا ذَرَأَ مِنَ الْحَرْثِ وَالْأَنْعَٰمِ نَصِيبًا فَقَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا لِلَّهِ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَهَٰذَا لِشُرَكَآئِنَا ۖ فَمَا كَانَ لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ فَلَا يَصِلُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَهُوَ يَصِلُ إِلَىٰ شُرَكَآئِهِمْ ۗ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ[136]

WajaAAaloo lillahi mimma tharaa mina alharthi waalanAAami naseeban faqaloo hatha lillahi bizaAAmihim wahatha lishurakaina fama kana lishurakaihim fala yasilu ila Allahi wama kana lillahi fahuwa yasilu ila shurakaihim saa ma yahkumoona

Et ils assignent à Allah une part de ce qu'Il a Lui-même créé, en fait de récoltes et de bestiaux, et ils disent: «Ceci est à Allah - selon leur prétention! - et ceci à nos divinités.» Mais ce qui est pour leurs divinités ne parvient pas à Allah, tandis que ce qui est pour Allah parvient à leurs divinités. Comme leur jugement est mauvais!

Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned Him a share: they say, according to their fancies: "This is for Allah, and this" - for our "partners"! but the share of their" partners "reacheth not Allah, whilst the share of Allah reacheth their "partners"! evil (and unjust) is their assignment!

وَكَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَٰدِهِمْ شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ[137]

Wakathalika zayyana likatheerin mina almushrikeena qatla awladihim shurakaohum liyurdoohum waliyalbisoo AAalayhim deenahum walaw shaa Allahu ma faAAaloohu fatharhum wama yaftaroona

Et c'est ainsi que leurs divinités ont enjolivé à beaucoup d'associateurs le meurtre de leurs enfants, afin de les ruiner et de travestir à leurs yeux leur religion. Or si Allah voulait, ils ne le feraient pas. Laisse-les donc, ainsi que ce qu'ils inventent.

Even so, in the eyes of most of the pagans, their "partners" made alluring the slaughter of their children, in order to lead them to their own destruction, and cause confusion in their religion. If Allah had willed, they would not have done so: But leave alone them and their inventions.

وَقَالُوا۟ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أَنْعَٰمٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌ لَّا يَطْعَمُهَآ إِلَّا مَن نَّشَآءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَأَنْعَٰمٌ حُرِّمَتْ ظُهُورُهَا وَأَنْعَٰمٌ لَّا يَذْكُرُونَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا افْتِرَآءً عَلَيْهِ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ[138]

Waqaloo hathihi anAAamun waharthun hijrun la yatAAamuha illa man nashao bizaAAmihim waanAAamun hurrimat thuhooruha waanAAamun la yathkuroona isma Allahi AAalayha iftiraan AAalayhi sayajzeehim bima kanoo yaftaroona

Et ils dirent: «Voilà des bestiaux et des champs frappés d'interdiction: n'en mangeront que ceux que nous voudrons.» - selon leur prétention! - Et voilà des bêtes dont le dos est tabou, et des bêtes sur lesquelles ils ne mentionnent pas le nom d'Allah. Des inventions contre Lui! Il les rétribuera pour ce qu'ils inventaient comme mensonges.

And they say that such and such cattle and crops are taboo, and none should eat of them except those whom - so they say - We wish; further, there are cattle forbidden to yoke or burden, and cattle on which, (at slaughter), the name of Allah is not pronounced; - inventions against Allah's name: soon will He requite them for their inventions.

وَقَالُوا۟ مَا فِى بُطُونِ هَٰذِهِ الْأَنْعَٰمِ خَالِصَةٌ لِّذُكُورِنَا وَمُحَرَّمٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ وَإِن يَكُن مَّيْتَةً فَهُمْ فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِمْ وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ[139]

Waqaloo ma fee butooni hathihi alanAAami khalisatun lithukoorina wamuharramun AAala azwajina wain yakun maytatan fahum feehi shurakao sayajzeehim wasfahum innahu hakeemun AAaleemun

Et ils dirent: «Ce qui est dans le ventre de ces bêtes est réservé aux mâles d'entre nous, et interdit à nos femmes.» Et si c'est un mort-né, ils y participent tous. Bientôt Il les rétribuera pour leur prescription, car Il est Sage et Omniscient.

They say: "What is in the wombs of such and such cattle is specially reserved (for food) for our men, and forbidden to our women; but if it is still-born, then all have share therein. For their (false) attribution (of superstitions to Allah), He will soon punish them: for He is full of wisdom and knowledge.

قَدْ خَسِرَ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ افْتِرَآءً عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ[140]

Qad khasira allatheena qataloo awladahum safahan bighayri AAilmin waharramoo ma razaqahumu Allahu iftiraan AAala Allahi qad dalloo wama kanoo muhtadeena

Ils sont certes perdants, ceux qui ont, par sottise et ignorance tué leurs enfants, et ceux qui ont interdit ce qu'Allah leur a attribué de nourriture, inventant des mensonges contre Allah. Ils se sont égarés et ne sont point guidés.

Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without knowledge, and forbid food which Allah hath provided for them, inventing (lies) against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance.

۞ وَهُوَ الَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ جَنَّٰتٍ مَّعْرُوشَٰتٍ وَغَيْرَ مَعْرُوشَٰتٍ وَالنَّخْلَ وَالزَّرْعَ مُخْتَلِفًا أُكُلُهُۥ وَالزَّيْتُونَ وَالرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَٰبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَٰبِهٍ ۚ كُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَءَاتُوا۟ حَقَّهُۥ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِۦ ۖ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ[141]

Wahuwa allathee anshaa jannatin maAArooshatin waghayra maAArooshatin waalnnakhla waalzzarAAa mukhtalifan okuluhu waalzzaytoona waalrrummana mutashabihan waghayra mutashabihin kuloo min thamarihi itha athmara waatoo haqqahu yawma hasadihi wala tusrifoo innahu la yuhibbu almusrifeena

C'est Lui qui a créé les jardins, treillagés et non treillagés; ainsi que les palmiers et la culture aux récoltes diverses; [de même que] l'olive et la grenade, d'espèces semblables et différentes. Mangez de leurs fruits, quand ils en produisent; et acquittez-en les droits le jour de la récolte. Et ne gaspillez point car Il n'aime pas les gaspilleurs.

It is He Who produceth gardens, with trellises and without, and dates, and tilth with produce of all kinds, and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety): eat of their fruit in their season, but render the dues that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. But waste not by excess: for Allah loveth not the wasters.

وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَٰمِ حَمُولَةً وَفَرْشًا ۚ كُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَٰتِ الشَّيْطَٰنِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ[142]

Wamina alanAAami hamoolatan wafarshan kuloo mimma razaqakumu Allahu wala tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun

Et (Il a créé) parmi les bestiaux, certains pour le transport, et d'autres pour diverses utilités; mangez de ce qu'Allah vous a attribué, et ne suivez pas les pas du Diable, car il est pour vous un ennemi déclaré.

Of the cattle are some for burden and some for meat: eat what Allah hath provided for you, and follow not the footsteps of Satan: for he is to you and avowed enemy.

ثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٰجٍ ۖ مِّنَ الضَّأْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْمَعْزِ اثْنَيْنِ ۗ قُلْ ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ نَبِّـُٔونِى بِعِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ[143]

Thamaniyata azwajin mina alddani ithnayni wamina almaAAzi ithnayni qul alththakarayni harrama ami alonthayayni amma ishtamalat AAalayhi arhamu alonthayayni nabbioonee biAAilmin in kuntum sadiqeena

(Il en a créé) huit, en couples: deux pour les ovins, deux pour les caprins... dis: «Est-ce les deux mâles qu'Il a interdits ou les deux femelles, ou ce qui est dans les matrices des deux femelles? Informez-moi de toute connaissance, si vous êtes véridiques»

(Take) eight (head of cattle) in (four) pairs: of sheep a pair, and of goats a pair; say, hath He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or (the young) which the wombs of the two females enclose? Tell me with knowledge if ye are truthful:

وَمِنَ الْإِبِلِ اثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ اثْنَيْنِ ۗ قُلْ ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَآءَ إِذْ وَصَّىٰكُمُ اللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا لِّيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى الْقَوْمَ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[144]

Wamina alibili ithnayni wamina albaqari ithnayni qul alththakarayni harrama ami alonthayayni amma ishtamalat AAalayhi arhamu alonthayayni am kuntum shuhadaa ith wassakumu Allahu bihatha faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban liyudilla alnnasa bighayri AAilmin inna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena

...deux pour les camélidés, deux pour les bovins... Dis: «Est-ce les deux mâles qu'Il a interdits ou les deux femelles, ou ce qui est dans les matrices des deux femelles? Ou bien étiez-vous témoins quand Allah vous l'enjoignit?» Qui est donc plus injuste que celui qui invente un mensonge contre Allah pour égarer les gens sans se baser sur aucun savoir? Allah ne guide pas les gens injustes.

Of camels a pair, and oxen a pair; say, hath He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or (the young) which the wombs of the two females enclose? - Were ye present when Allah ordered you such a thing? But who doth more wrong than one who invents a lie against Allah, to lead astray men without knowledge? For Allah guideth not people who do wrong.

قُل لَّآ أَجِدُ فِى مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَىٰ طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُۥٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَمًا مَّسْفُوحًا أَوْ لَحْمَ خِنزِيرٍ فَإِنَّهُۥ رِجْسٌ أَوْ فِسْقًا أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ بِهِۦ ۚ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[145]

Qul la ajidu fee ma oohiya ilayya muharraman AAala taAAimin yatAAamuhu illa an yakoona maytatan aw daman masfoohan aw lahma khinzeerin fainnahu rijsun aw fisqan ohilla lighayri Allahi bihi famani idturra ghayra baghin wala AAadin fainna rabbaka ghafoorun raheemun

Dis: «Dans ce qui m'a été révélé, je ne trouve d'interdit, à aucun mangeur d'en manger, que la bête (trouvée) morte, ou le sang qu'on a fait couler, ou la chair de porc - car c'est une souillure - ou ce qui, par perversité, a été sacrifié à autre qu'Allah». Quiconque est contraint, sans toutefois abuser ou transgresser, ton Seigneur est certes Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

Say: "I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than Allah's". But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذِى ظُفُرٍ ۖ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ شُحُومَهُمَآ إِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتْ ظُهُورُهُمَآ أَوِ الْحَوَايَآ أَوْ مَا اخْتَلَطَ بِعَظْمٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ جَزَيْنَٰهُم بِبَغْيِهِمْ ۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ[146]

WaAAala allatheena hadoo harramna kulla thee thufurin wamina albaqari waalghanami harramna AAalayhim shuhoomahuma illa ma hamalat thuhooruhuma awi alhawaya aw ma ikhtalata biAAathmin thalika jazaynahum bibaghyihim wainna lasadiqoona

Aux Juifs, Nous avons interdit toute bête à ongle unique. Des bovins et des ovins, Nous leurs avons interdit les graisses, sauf ce que portent leur dos, leurs entrailles, ou ce qui est mêlé à l'os. Ainsi les avons-Nous punis pour leur rébellion. Et Nous sommes bien véridiques.

For those who followed the Jewish Law, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof, and We forbade them that fat of the ox and the sheep, except what adheres to their backs or their entrails, or is mixed up with a bone: this in recompense for their wilful disobedience: for We are true (in Our ordinances).

فَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل رَّبُّكُمْ ذُو رَحْمَةٍ وَٰسِعَةٍ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُهُۥ عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ[147]

Fain kaththabooka faqul rabbukum thoo rahmatin wasiAAatin wala yuraddu basuhu AAani alqawmi almujrimeena

Puis, s'ils te traitent de menteur, alors dis: «Votre Seigneur est Détenteur d'une immense miséricorde cependant que Sa rigueur ne saura être détournée des gens criminels».

If they accuse thee of falsehood, say: "Your Lord is full of mercy all-embracing; but from people in guilt never will His wrath be turned back.

سَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ مَآ أَشْرَكْنَا وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ ذَاقُوا۟ بَأْسَنَا ۗ قُلْ هَلْ عِندَكُم مِّنْ عِلْمٍ فَتُخْرِجُوهُ لَنَآ ۖ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَإِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَخْرُصُونَ[148]

Sayaqoolu allatheena ashrakoo law shaa Allahu ma ashrakna wala abaona wala harramna min shayin kathalika kaththaba allatheena min qablihim hatta thaqoo basana qul hal AAindakum min AAilmin fatukhrijoohu lana in tattabiAAoona illa alththanna wain antum illa takhrusoona

Ceux qui ont associé diront: «Si Allah avait voulu, nous ne Lui aurions pas donné des associés, nos ancêtres non plus et nous n'aurions rien déclaré interdit.» Ainsi leurs prédécesseurs traitaient de menteurs (les messagers) jusqu'à ce qu'ils eurent goûté Notre rigueur. Dis: «Avez-vous quelque science à nous produire? Vous ne suivez que la conjecture et ne faites que mentir».

Those who give partners (to Allah) will say: "If Allah had wished, we should not have given partners to Him nor would our fathers; nor should we have had any taboos." So did their ancestors argue falsely, until they tasted of Our wrath. Say: "Have ye any (certain) knowledge? If so, produce it before us. Ye follow nothing but conjecture: ye do nothing but lie."

قُلْ فَلِلَّهِ الْحُجَّةُ الْبَٰلِغَةُ ۖ فَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ[149]

Qul falillahi alhujjatu albalighatu falaw shaa lahadakum ajmaAAeena

Dis: «L'argument décisif appartient à Allah. S'Il avait voulu certainement Il vous aurait tous guidés. (sur le droit chemin)

Say: "With Allah is the argument that reaches home: if it had been His will, He could indeed have guided you all."

قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَآءَكُمُ الَّذِينَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَٰذَا ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ ۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْءَاخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ[150]

Qul halumma shuhadaakumu allatheena yashhadoona anna Allaha harrama hatha fain shahidoo fala tashhad maAAahum wala tattabiAA ahwaa allatheena kaththaboo biayatina waallatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati wahum birabbihim yaAAdiloona

Dis: «Amenez vos témoins qui attesteraient qu'Allah a interdit cela.» Si ensuite ils témoignent, alors toi, ne témoigne pas avec eux et ne suis pas les passions de ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos signes et qui ne croient pas à l'au-delà, tandis qu'ils donnent des égaux à leur Seigneur.

Say: "Bring forward your witnesses to prove that Allah did forbid so and so." If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord.

۞ قُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَبِالْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰنًا ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَٰقٍ ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ الْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ النَّفْسَ الَّتِى حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ[151]

Qul taAAalaw atlu ma harrama rabbukum AAalaykum alla tushrikoo bihi shayan wabialwalidayni ihsanan wala taqtuloo awladakum min imlaqin nahnu narzuqukum waiyyahum wala taqraboo alfawahisha ma thahara minha wama batana wala taqtuloo alnnafsa allatee harrama Allahu illa bialhaqqi thalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum taAAqiloona

Dis: «Venez, je vais réciter ce que votre Seigneur vous a interdit: ne Lui associez rien; et soyez bienfaisants envers vos père et mère. Ne tuez pas vos enfants pour cause de pauvreté. Nous vous nourrissons tout comme eux. N'approchez pas des turpitudes ouvertement, ou en cachette. Ne tuez qu'en toute justice la vie qu'Allah a fait sacrée. Voilà ce qu'[Allah] vous a recommandé de faire; peut-être comprendrez-vous.

Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ مَالَ الْيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ ۖ وَأَوْفُوا۟ الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ وَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَاعْدِلُوا۟ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ ۖ وَبِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ أَوْفُوا۟ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ[152]

Wala taqraboo mala alyateemi illa biallatee hiya ahsanu hatta yablugha ashuddahu waawfoo alkayla waalmeezana bialqisti la nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha waitha qultum faiAAdiloo walaw kana tha qurba wabiAAahdi Allahi awfoo thalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum tathakkaroona

Et ne vous approchez des biens de l'orphelin que de la plus belle manière, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait atteint sa majorité. Et donnez la juste mesure et le bon poids, en toute justice. Nous n'imposons à une âme que selon sa capacité. Et quand vous parlez, soyez équitables même s'il s'agit d'un proche parent. Et remplissez votre engagement envers Allah. Voilà ce qu'Il vous enjoint. Peut-être vous rappellerez-vous.

And come not nigh to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he attain the age of full strength; give measure and weight with (full) justice;- no burden do We place on any soul, but that which it can bear;- whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfil the covenant of Allah: thus doth He command you, that ye may remember.

وَأَنَّ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطِى مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ[153]

Waanna hatha siratee mustaqeeman faittabiAAoohu wala tattabiAAoo alssubula fatafarraqa bikum AAan sabeelihi thalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum tattaqoona

«Et voilà Mon chemin dans toute sa rectitude, suivez-le donc; et ne suivez pas les sentiers qui vous écartent de Sa voie.» Voilà ce qu'Il vous enjoint. Ainsi atteindrez-vous la piété.

Verily, this is My way, leading straight: follow it: follow not (other) paths: they will scatter you about from His (great) path: thus doth He command you. that ye may be righteous.

ثُمَّ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَٰبَ تَمَامًا عَلَى الَّذِىٓ أَحْسَنَ وَتَفْصِيلًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ[154]

Thumma atayna moosa alkitaba tamaman AAala allathee ahsana watafseelan likulli shayin wahudan warahmatan laAAallahum biliqai rabbihim yuminoona

Puis Nous avons donné à Moïse le Livre complet en récompense pour le bien qu'il avait fait, et comme un exposé détaillé de toute chose, un guide et une miséricorde. Peut-être croiraient-ils en leur rencontre avec leur Seigneur (au jour du Jugement dernier).

Moreover, We gave Moses the Book, completing (Our favour) to those who would do right, and explaining all things in detail,- and a guide and a mercy, that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.

وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَاتَّقُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ[155]

Wahatha kitabun anzalnahu mubarakun faittabiAAoohu waittaqoo laAAallakum turhamoona

Et voici un Livre (le Coran) béni que Nous avons fait descendre - suivez-le donc et soyez pieux, afin de recevoir la miséricorde -

And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy:

أَن تَقُولُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ الْكِتَٰبُ عَلَىٰ طَآئِفَتَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِنَا وَإِن كُنَّا عَن دِرَاسَتِهِمْ لَغَٰفِلِينَ[156]

An taqooloo innama onzila alkitabu AAala taifatayni min qablina wain kunna AAan dirasatihim laghafileena

afin que vous ne disiez point: «On n'a fait descendre le Livre que sur deux peuples avant nous, et nous avons été inattentifs à les étudier.

Lest ye should say: "The Book was sent down to two Peoples before us, and for our part, we remained unacquainted with all that they learned by assiduous study:"

أَوْ تَقُولُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْكِتَٰبُ لَكُنَّآ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمْ ۚ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اللَّهِ وَصَدَفَ عَنْهَا ۗ سَنَجْزِى الَّذِينَ يَصْدِفُونَ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا سُوٓءَ الْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْدِفُونَ[157]

Aw taqooloo law anna onzila AAalayna alkitabu lakunna ahda minhum faqad jaakum bayyinatun min rabbikum wahudan warahmatun faman athlamu mimman kaththaba biayati Allahi wasadafa AAanha sanajzee allatheena yasdifoona AAan ayatina sooa alAAathabi bima kanoo yasdifoona

Ou que vous disiez: «Si c'était à nous qu'on avait fait descendre le Livre, nous aurions certainement été mieux guidés qu'eux.» Voilà certes que vous sont venus, de votre Seigneur, preuve, guidée et miséricorde. Qui est plus injuste que celui qui traite de mensonges les versets d'Allah et qui s'en détourne? Nous punirons ceux qui se détournent de Nos versets, par un mauvais châtiment, pour s'en être détournés.

Or lest ye should say: "If the Book had only been sent down to us, we should have followed its guidance better than they." Now then hath come unto you a clear (sign) from your Lord,- and a guide and a mercy: then who could do more wrong than one who rejecteth Allah's signs, and turneth away therefrom? In good time shall We requite those who turn away from Our signs, with a dreadful penalty, for their turning away.

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ ۗ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَٰنُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ ءَامَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِىٓ إِيمَٰنِهَا خَيْرًا ۗ قُلِ انتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ[158]

Hal yanthuroona illa an tatiyahumu almalaikatu aw yatiya rabbuka aw yatiya baAAdu ayati rabbika yawma yatee baAAdu ayati rabbika la yanfaAAu nafsan eemanuha lam takun amanat min qablu aw kasabat fee eemaniha khayran quli intathiroo inna muntathiroona

Qu'attendent-ils? Que les Anges leur viennent? Que vienne ton Seigneur? Ou que viennent certains signes de ton Seigneur? Le jour où certains signes de ton Seigneur viendront, la foi en Lui ne profitera à aucune âme qui n'avait pas cru auparavant ou qui n'avait acquis aucun mérite de sa croyance. Dis: «Attendez!» Nous attendons, Nous aussi.

Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا۟ شِيَعًا لَّسْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِى شَىْءٍ ۚ إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ[159]

Inna allatheena farraqoo deenahum wakanoo shiyaAAan lasta minhum fee shayin innama amruhum ila Allahi thumma yunabbiohum bima kanoo yafAAaloona

Ceux qui émiettent leur religion et se divisent en sectes, de ceux-là tu n'es responsable en rien: leur sort ne dépend que d'Allah. Puis Il les informera de ce qu'ils faisaient.

As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.

مَن جَآءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا ۖ وَمَن جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ[160]

Man jaa bialhasanati falahu AAashru amthaliha waman jaa bialssayyiati fala yujza illa mithlaha wahum la yuthlamoona

Quiconque viendra avec le bien aura dix fois autant; et quiconque viendra avec le mal ne sera rétribué que par son équivalent. Et on ne leur fera aucune injustice.

He that doeth good shall have ten times as much to his credit: He that doeth evil shall only be recompensed according to his evil: no wrong shall be done unto (any of) them.

قُلْ إِنَّنِى هَدَىٰنِى رَبِّىٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ دِينًا قِيَمًا مِّلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا ۚ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ[161]

Qul innanee hadanee rabbee ila siratin mustaqeemin deenan qiyaman millata ibraheema haneefan wama kana mina almushrikeena

Dis: «Moi, mon Seigneur m'a guidé vers un chemin droit, une religion droite, la religion d'Abraham, le soumis exclusivement à Allah et qui n'était point parmi les associateurs.

Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided me to a way that is straight,- a religion of right,- the path (trod) by Abraham the true in Faith, and he (certainly) joined not gods with Allah."

قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِى وَنُسُكِى وَمَحْيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِى لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[162]

Qul inna salatee wanusukee wamahyaya wamamatee lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

Dis: «En vérité, ma Salât, mes actes de dévotion, ma vie et ma mort appartiennent à Allah, Seigneur de l'Univers.

Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds:

لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُۥ ۖ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ[163]

La shareeka lahu wabithalika omirtu waana awwalu almuslimeena

A Lui nul associé! Et voilà ce qu'il m'a été ordonné, et je suis le premier à me soumettre.»

No partner hath He: this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who bow to His will.

قُلْ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْغِى رَبًّا وَهُوَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۚ وَلَا تَكْسِبُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ إِلَّا عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ[164]

Qul aghayra Allahi abghee rabban wahuwa rabbu kulli shayin wala taksibu kullu nafsin illa AAalayha wala taziru waziratun wizra okhra thumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukum fayunabbiokum bima kuntum feehi takhtalifoona

Dis: «Chercherais-je un autre Seigneur qu'Allah, alors qu'Il est le Seigneur de toute chose? Chacun n'acquiert [le mal] qu'à son détriment: personne ne portera le fardeau (responsabilité) d'autrui. Puis vers votre Seigneur sera votre retour et Il vous informera de ce en quoi vous divergez.

Say: "Shall I seek for (my) Cherisher other than Allah, when He is the Cherisher of all things (that exist)? Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself: no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. Your goal in the end is towards Allah: He will tell you the truth of the things wherein ye disputed."

وَهُوَ الَّذِى جَعَلَكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ الْأَرْضِ وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَكُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَٰتٍ لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌۢ[165]

Wahuwa allathee jaAAalakum khalaifa alardi warafaAAa baAAdakum fawqa baAAdin darajatin liyabluwakum fee ma atakum inna rabbaka sareeAAu alAAiqabi wainnahu laghafoorun raheemun

C'est Lui qui a fait de vous les successeurs sur terre et qui vous a élevés, en rangs, les uns au-dessus des autres, afin de vous éprouver en ce qu'Il vous a donné. (Vraiment) ton Seigneur est prompt en punition, Il est aussi Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

It is He Who hath made you (His) agents, inheritors of the earth: He hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
