Coran Karim

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ[1]

Bienheureux sont certes les croyants,

The believers must (eventually) win through,-

الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى صَلَاتِهِمْ خَٰشِعُونَ[2]

ceux qui sont humbles dans leur Salât,

Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ[3]

qui se détournent des futilités,

Who avoid vain talk;

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَٰعِلُونَ[4]

qui s'acquittent de la Zakât,

Who are active in deeds of charity;

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَٰفِظُونَ[5]

et qui préservent leurs sexes [de tout rapport],

Who abstain from sex,

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ[6]

si ce n'est qu'avec leurs épouses ou les esclaves qu'ils possèdent, car là vraiment, on ne peut les blâmer;

Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,

فَمَنِ ابْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ[7]

alors que ceux qui cherchent au-delà de ces limites sont des transgresseurs;

But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;-

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ[8]

et qui veillent à la sauvegarde des dépôts confiés à eux et honorent leurs engagements,

Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants;

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ[9]

et qui observent strictement leur Salât.

And who (strictly) guard their prayers;-

Ce sont eux les héritiers,

These will be the heirs,

الَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ[11]

qui hériteront le Paradis pour y demeurer éternellement.

Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever).

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَٰنَ مِن سُلَٰلَةٍ مِّن طِينٍ[12]

Nous avons certes créé l'homme d'un extrait d'argile.

Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay);

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰهُ نُطْفَةً فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ[13]

puis Nous en fîmes une goutte de sperme dans un reposoir solide.

Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed;

ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْمُضْغَةَ عِظَٰمًا فَكَسَوْنَا الْعِظَٰمَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَٰلِقِينَ[14]

Thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka Allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeena

Ensuite, Nous avons fait du sperme une adhérence; et de l'adhérence Nous avons créé un embryon; puis, de cet embryon Nous avons créé des os et Nous avons revêtu les os de chair. Ensuite, Nous l'avons transformé en une tout autre création. Gloire à Allah le Meilleur des créateurs!

Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create!

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ[15]

Et puis, après cela vous mourrez.

After that, at length ye will die

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ[16]

Et puis au Jour de la Résurrection vous serez ressuscités.

Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up.

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ الْخَلْقِ غَٰفِلِينَ[17]

Nous avons créé, au-dessus de vous, sept cieux. Et Nous ne sommes pas inattentifs à la création.

And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation.

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَأَسْكَنَّٰهُ فِى الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابٍۭ بِهِۦ لَقَٰدِرُونَ[18]

Waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroona

Et Nous avons fait descendre l'eau du ciel avec mesure. Puis Nous l'avons maintenue dans la terre, cependant que Nous sommes bien Capable de la faire disparaître.

And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease).

فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّٰتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَٰبٍ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ[19]

Faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloona

Avec elle, Nous avons produit pour vous des jardins de palmiers et de vignes, dans lesquels vous avez des fruits abondants et desquels vous mangez,

With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),-

وَشَجَرَةً تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِالدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْءَاكِلِينَ[20]

ainsi qu'un arbre (l'olivier) qui pousse au Mont Sinaî, en produisant l'huile servant à oindre et où les mangeurs trempent leur pain.

Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food.

وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى الْأَنْعَٰمِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ[21]

Wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butooniha walakum feeha manafiAAu katheeratun waminha takuloona

Vous avez certes dans les bestiaux, un sujet de méditation. Nous vous donnons à boire de ce qu'ils ont dans le ventre, et vous y trouvez également maintes utilités; et vous vous en nourrissez.

And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat;

وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى الْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ[22]

Sur eux ainsi que sur des vaisseaux vous êtes transportés.

And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[23]

Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona

Nous envoyâmes Noé vers son peuple. Il dit: «O mon peuple, adorez Allah. Vous n'avez pas d'autre divinité en dehors de Lui. Ne [Le] craignez-vous pas?»

(Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"

فَقَالَ الْمَلَؤُا۟ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِىٓ ءَابَآئِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ[24]

Faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa Allahu laanzala malaikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena

Alors les notables de son peuple qui avaient mécru dirent: «Celui-ci n'est qu'un être humain comme vous voulant se distinguer à votre détriment. Si Allah avait voulu, ce sont des Anges qu'Il aurait fait descendre. Jamais nous n'avons entendu cela chez nos ancêtres les plus reculés.

The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old."

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ[25]

Ce n'est en vérité qu'un homme atteint de folie, observez-le donc durant quelque temps.

(And some said): "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time."

Il dit: «Seigneur! Apporte-moi secours parce qu'ils me traitent de menteur».

(Noah) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood!"

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ أَنِ اصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ ۙ فَاسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُخَٰطِبْنِى فِى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۖ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ[27]

Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona

Nous lui révélâmes: «Construis l'arche sous Nos yeux et selon Notre révélation. Et quand Notre commandement viendra et que le four bouillonnera, achemine là-dedans un couple de chaque espèce, ainsi que ta famille, sauf ceux d'entre eux contre qui la parole a déjà été prononcée; et ne t'adresse pas à Moi au sujet des injustes, car ils seront fatalement noyés.

So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood).

فَإِذَا اسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى الْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِى نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[28]

Faitha istawayta anta waman maAAaka AAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allathee najjana mina alqawmi alththalimeena

Et lorsque tu seras installé, toi et ceux qui sont avec toi, dans l'arche, dis: «Louange à Allah qui nous a sauvés du peuple des injustes».

And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong."

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلْنِى مُنزَلًا مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنزِلِينَ[29]

Et dis: «Seigneur, fais-moi débarquer d'un débarquement béni. Tu es Celui qui procure le meilleur débarquement».

And say: "O my Lord! enable me to disembark with thy blessing: for Thou art the Best to enable (us) to disembark."

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبْتَلِينَ[30]

Voilà bien là des signes. Nous sommes certes Celui qui éprouve.

Verily in this there are Signs (for men to understand); (thus) do We try (men).

ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ[31]

Puis, après eux, Nous avons créé d'autres générations,

Then We raised after them another generation.

فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[32]

Faarsalna feehim rasoolan minhum ani oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona

Nous envoyâmes parmi elles un Messager [issu] d'elles pour leur dire: «Adorez Allah. Vous n'avez pas d'autre divinité en dehors de Lui. Ne le craignez-vous pas?»

And We sent to them a messenger from among themselves, (saying), "Worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"

وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ الْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَٰهُمْ فِى الْحَيَوٰةِ الدُّنْيَا مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ[33]

Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biliqai alakhirati waatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunya ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yakulu mimma takuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboona

Les notables de son peuple qui avaient mécru et traité de mensonge la rencontre de l'au-delà, et auxquels Nous avions accordé le luxe dans la vie présente, dirent: «Celui-ci n'est qu'un être humain comme vous, mangeant de ce que vous mangez, et buvant de ce que vous buvez.

And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink.

وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ[34]

Si vous obéissez à un homme comme vous, vous serez alors perdants.

"If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost.

أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ[35]

AyaAAidukum annakum itha mittum wakuntum turaban waAAithaman annakum mukhrajoona

Vous promet-il, quand vous serez morts, et devenus poussière et ossements, que vous serez sortis [de vos sépulcres]?

"Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)?

Loin, loin, ce qu'on vous promet!

"Far, very far is that which ye are promised!

إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ[37]

Ce n'est là que notre vie présente: nous mourons et nous vivons; et nous ne serons jamais ressuscités.

"There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again!

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ[38]

Ce n'est qu'un homme qui forge un mensonge contre Allah; et nous ne croirons pas en lui».

"He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!"

Il dit: «Seigneur! Apporte-moi secours parce qu'ils me traitent de menteur».

(The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood."

قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نَٰدِمِينَ[40]

[Allah] dit: «Oui, bientôt ils en viendront aux regrets».

(Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!"

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ غُثَآءً ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[41]

Faakhathathumu alssayhatu bialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaan fabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeena

Le cri, donc, les saisit en toute justice; puis Nous les rendîmes semblables à des débris emportés par le torrent. Que disparaissent à jamais les injustes!

Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong!

ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ[42]

Puis après eux Nous avons créé d'autres générations.

Then We raised after them other generations.

مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ[43]

Nulle communauté ne peut avancer ni reculer son terme.

No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it).

ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا ۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ ۚ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّقَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ[44]

Thumma arsalna rusulana tatra kulla ma jaa ommatan rasooluha kaththaboohu faatbaAAna baAAdahum baAAdan wajaAAalnahum ahadeetha fabuAAdan liqawmin la yuminoona

Ensuite, Nous envoyâmes successivement Nos messagers. Chaque fois qu'un messager se présentait à sa communauté, ils le traitaient de menteur. Et Nous les fîmes succéder les unes aux autres [dans la destruction], et Nous en fîmes des thèmes de récits légendaires. Que disparaissent à jamais les gens qui ne croient pas!

Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe!

ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ[45]

Ensuite, Nous envoyâmes Moïse et son frère Aaron avec Nos prodiges et une preuve évidente,

Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest,

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا عَالِينَ[46]

vers Pharaon et ses notables mais ceux-ci s'enflèrent d'orgueil: ils étaient des gens hautains.

To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people.

فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَٰبِدُونَ[47]

Ils dirent: «Croirons-nous en deux hommes comme nous dont les congénères sont nos esclaves».

They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!"

فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا۟ مِنَ الْمُهْلَكِينَ[48]

Ils les traitèrent [tous deux] de menteurs et ils furent donc parmi les anéantis.

So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed.

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ[49]

Et Nous avions apporté le Livre à Moïse afin qu'ils se guident.

And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance.

وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةً وَءَاوَيْنَٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ[50]

WajaAAalna ibna maryama waommahu ayatan waawaynahuma ila rabwatin thati qararin wamaAAeenin

Et Nous fîmes du fils de Marie, ainsi que de sa mère, un prodige; et Nous donnâmes à tous deux asile sur une colline bien stable et dotée d'une source.

And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا۟ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَاعْمَلُوا۟ صَٰلِحًا ۖ إِنِّى بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ[51]

Ya ayyuha alrrusulu kuloo mina alttayyibati waiAAmaloo salihan innee bima taAAmaloona AAaleemun

O Messagers! Mangez de ce qui est permis et agréable et faites du bien. Car Je sais parfaitement ce que vous faites.

O ye messengers! enjoy (all) things good and pure, and work righteousness: for I am well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.

وَإِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَاتَّقُونِ[52]

Cette communauté, la vôtre, est une seule communauté, tandis que Je suis votre Seigneur. Craignez-Moi donc».

And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other).

فَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍۭ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ[53]

Mais ils se sont divisés en sectes, chaque secte exultant de ce qu'elle détenait.

But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself.

فَذَرْهُمْ فِى غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ[54]

Laisse-les dans leur égarement pour un certain temps.

But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time.

أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالٍ وَبَنِينَ[55]

Pensent-ils que ce que Nous leur accordons, en biens et en enfants,

Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons,

نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِى الْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ بَل لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ[56]

[soit une avance] que Nous Nous empressons de leur faire sur les biens [de la vie future]? Au contraire, ils n'en sont pas conscients.

We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ[57]

Ceux qui, de la crainte de leur Seigneur, sont pénétrés,

Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord;

وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ[58]

qui croient aux versets de leur Seigneur,

Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord;

وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمْ لَا يُشْرِكُونَ[59]

qui n'associent rien à leur Seigneur,

Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord;

وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَآ ءَاتَوا۟ وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَٰجِعُونَ[60]

Waallatheena yutoona ma ataw waquloobuhum wajilatun annahum ila rabbihim rajiAAoona

qui donnent ce qu'ils donnent, tandis que leurs cœurs sont pleins de crainte [à la pensée] qu'ils doivent retourner à leur Seigneur.

And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;-

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى الْخَيْرَٰتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَٰبِقُونَ[61]

Ceux-là se précipitent vers les bonnes actions et sont les premiers à les accomplir.

It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them.

وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَٰبٌ يَنطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ[62]

Wala nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha waladayna kitabun yantiqu bialhaqqi wahum la yuthlamoona

Nous n'imposons à personne que selon sa capacité. Et auprès de Nous existe un Livre qui dit la vérité, et ils ne seront pas lésés.

On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged.

بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَٰلٌ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَٰمِلُونَ[63]

Bal quloobuhum fee ghamratin min hatha walahum aAAmalun min dooni thalika hum laha AAamiloona

Mais leurs cœurs restent dans l'ignorance à l'égard de cela [le Coran]. [En outre] ils ont d'autres actes (vils) qu'ils accomplissent,

But their hearts are in confused ignorance of this; and there are, besides that, deeds of theirs, which they will (continue) to do,-

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِم بِالْعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمْ يَجْـَٔرُونَ[64]

jusqu'à ce que par le châtiment Nous saisissions les plus aisés parmi eux et voilà qu'ils crient au secours.

Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication!

لَا تَجْـَٔرُوا۟ الْيَوْمَ ۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ[65]

«Ne criez pas aujourd'hui. Nul ne vous protègera contre Nous.

(It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us.

قَدْ كَانَتْ ءَايَٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ[66]

Mes versets vous étaient récités auparavant; mais vous vous [en] détourniez,

"My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels-

مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَٰمِرًا تَهْجُرُونَ[67]

s'enflant d'orgueil, et vous les dénigriez au cours de vos veillées».

"In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night."

أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا۟ الْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[68]

Ne méditent-ils donc pas sur la parole (le Coran)? Ou est-ce que leur est venu ce qui n'est jamais venu à leurs premiers ancêtres?

Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old?

أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ[69]

Ou n'ont-ils pas connu leur Messager, au point de le renier?

Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌۢ ۚ بَلْ جَآءَهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ[70]

Am yaqooloona bihi jinnatun bal jaahum bialhaqqi waaktharuhum lilhaqqi karihoona

Ou diront-ils: «Il est fou?» Au contraire, c'est la vérité qu'il leur a apportée. Et la plupart d'entre eux dédaignent la vérité.

Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth.

وَلَوِ اتَّبَعَ الْحَقُّ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ السَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ بَلْ أَتَيْنَٰهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ[71]

Walawi ittabaAAa alhaqqu ahwaahum lafasadati alssamawatu waalardu waman feehinna bal ataynahum bithikrihim fahum AAan thikrihim muAAridoona

Si la vérité était conforme à leurs passions, les cieux et la terre et ceux qui s'y trouvent seraient, certes, corrompus. Au contraire, Nous leur avons donné leur rappel. Mais ils s'en détournent.

If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition.

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ خَرْجًا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّٰزِقِينَ[72]

Ou leur demandes-tu une rétribution? Mais la rétribution de ton Seigneur est meilleure. Et c'est Lui, le Meilleur des pourvoyeurs.

Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance.

وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ[73]

Et tu les appelles, certes, vers le droit chemin.

But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way;

وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْءَاخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَٰطِ لَنَٰكِبُونَ[74]

Or, ceux qui ne croient pas à l'au-delà sont bien écartés de ce chemin.

And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way.

۞ وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّوا۟ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ[75]

Walaw rahimnahum wakashafna ma bihim min durrin lalajjoo fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona

Si Nous leur faisions miséricorde et écartions d'eux le mal, ils persisteraient certainement dans leur transgression, confus et hésitants.

If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro.

وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَٰهُم بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ[76]

Nous les avons certes saisis du châtiment, mais ils ne se sont pas soumis à leur Seigneur; de même qu'ils ne [Le] supplient point,

We inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor do they submissively entreat (Him)!-

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ[77]

Hatta itha fatahna AAalayhim baban tha AAathabin shadeedin itha hum feehi mublisoona

jusqu'au jour où Nous ouvrirons sur eux une porte au dur châtiment, et voilà qu'ils en seront désespérés.

Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein!

وَهُوَ الَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَٰرَ وَالْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ[78]

Wahuwa allathee anshaa lakumu alssamAAa waalabsara waalafidata qaleelan ma tashkuroona

Et c'est Lui qui a créé pour vous l'ouïe, les yeux et les cœurs. Mais vous êtes rarement reconnaissants.

It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give!

وَهُوَ الَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ[79]

C'est Lui qui vous a répandus sur la terre, et c'est vers Lui que vous serez rassemblés.

And He has multiplied you through the earth, and to Him shall ye be gathered back.

وَهُوَ الَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ اخْتِلَٰفُ الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ[80]

Wahuwa allathee yuhyee wayumeetu walahu ikhtilafu allayli waalnnahari afala taAAqiloona

Et c'est Lui qui donne la vie et qui donne la mort; et l'alternance de la nuit et du jour dépend de Lui. Ne raisonnerez-vous donc pas?

It is He Who gives life and death, and to Him (is due) the alternation of Night and Day: will ye not then understand?

بَلْ قَالُوا۟ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ الْأَوَّلُونَ[81]

Ils ont plutôt tenu les mêmes propos que les anciens.

On the contrary they say things similar to what the ancients said.

قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ[82]

Ils ont dit: «lorsque nous serons morts et que nous serons poussière et ossements, serons-nous vraiment ressuscités?

They say: "What! when we die and become dust and bones, could we really be raised up again?

لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَٰذَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[83]

Laqad wuAAidna nahnu waabaona hatha min qablu in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena

On nous a promis cela, ainsi qu'à nos ancêtres auparavant; ce ne sont que de vieilles sornettes».

"Such things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! they are nothing but tales of the ancients!"

قُل لِّمَنِ الْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ[84]

Dis: «A qui appartient la terre et ceux qui y sont? si vous savez».

Say: "To whom belong the earth and all beings therein? (say) if ye know!"

سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ[85]

Ils diront: «A Allah». Dis: «Ne vous souvenez-vous donc pas?»

They will say, "To Allah!" say: "Yet will ye not receive admonition?"

قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ[86]

Dis: «Qui est le Seigneur des sept cieux et le Seigneur du Trône sublime?»

Say: "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens, and the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme?"

سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[87]

Ils diront: [ils appartiennent] «A Allah». Dis: «Ne craignez-vous donc pas?»

They will say, "(They belong) to Allah." Say: "Will ye not then be filled with awe?"

قُلْ مَنۢ بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ[88]

Qul man biyadihi malakootu kulli shayin wahuwa yujeeru wala yujaru AAalayhi in kuntum taAAlamoona

Dis: «Qui détient dans sa main la royauté absolue de toute chose, et qui protège et n'a pas besoin d'être protégé? [Dites], si vous le savez!»

Say: "Who is it in whose hands is the governance of all things,- who protects (all), but is not protected (of any)? (say) if ye know."

سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسْحَرُونَ[89]

Ils diront: «Allah». Dis: «Comment donc se fait-il que vous soyez ensorcelés?» [au point de ne pas croire en Lui].

They will say, "(It belongs) to Allah." Say: "Then how are ye deluded?"

بَلْ أَتَيْنَٰهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ[90]

Nous leur avons plutôt apporté la vérité et ils sont assurément des menteurs.

We have sent them the Truth: but they indeed practise falsehood!

مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ ۚ إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَٰهٍۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ[91]

Ma ittakhatha Allahu min waladin wama kana maAAahu min ilahin ithan lathahaba kullu ilahin bima khalaqa walaAAala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona

Allah ne S'est point attribué d'enfant et il n'existe point de divinité avec Lui; sinon, chaque divinité s'en irait avec ce qu'elle a créé, et certaines seraient supérieures aux autres. (Gloire et pureté) à Allah! Il est Supérieur à tout ce qu'ils décrivent.

No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him!

عَٰلِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَٰدَةِ فَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ[92]

[Il est] Connaisseur de toute chose visible et invisible! Il est bien au-dessus de ce qu'ils [Lui] associent!

He knows what is hidden and what is open: too high is He for the partners they attribute to Him!

قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّى مَا يُوعَدُونَ[93]

Dis: «Seigneur, si jamais Tu me montres ce qui leur est promis;

Say: "O my Lord! if Thou wilt show me (in my lifetime) that which they are warned against,-

رَبِّ فَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى فِى الْقَوْمِ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[94]

alors, Seigneur, ne me place pas parmi les gens injustes.

"Then, O my Lord! put me not amongst the people who do wrong!"

وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمْ لَقَٰدِرُونَ[95]

Nous sommes Capable, certes, de te montrer ce que Nous leur promettons.

And We are certainly able to show thee (in fulfilment) that against which they are warned.

ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ السَّيِّئَةَ ۚ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ[96]

Repousse le mal par ce qui est meilleur. Nous savons très bien ce qu'ils décrivent.

Repel evil with that which is best: We are well acquainted with the things they say.

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٰتِ الشَّيَٰطِينِ[97]

Et dis: «Seigneur, je cherche Ta protection, contre les incitations des diables.

And say "O my Lord! I seek refuge with Thee from the suggestions of the Evil Ones.

et je cherche Ta protection, Seigneur, contre leur présence auprès de moi».

"And I seek refuge with Thee O my Lord! lest they should come near me."

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ[99]

...Puis, lorsque la mort vient à l'un deux, il dit: «Mon Seigneur! Fais-moi revenir (sur terre),

(In Falsehood will they be) Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "O my Lord! send me back (to life),-

لَعَلِّىٓ أَعْمَلُ صَٰلِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ ۚ كَلَّآ ۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَا ۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ[100]

LaAAallee aAAmalu salihan feema taraktu kalla innaha kalimatun huwa qailuha wamin waraihim barzakhun ila yawmi yubAAathoona

afin que je fasse du bien dans ce que je délaissais». Non, c'est simplement une parole qu'il dit. Derrière eux, cependant, il y a une barrière, jusqu'au jour où ils seront ressuscités».

"In order that I may work righteousness in the things I neglected." - "By no means! It is but a word he says."- Before them is a Partition till the Day they are raised up.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى الصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ[101]

Puis quand on soufflera dans la Trompe, il n'y aura plus de parenté entre eux ce jour là, et ils ne se poseront pas de questions.

Then when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no more relationships between them that Day, nor will one ask after another!

فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ[102]

Ceux dont la balance est lourde seront les bienheureux;

Then those whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy,- they will attain salvation:

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِى جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ[103]

Waman khaffat mawazeenuhu faolaika allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fee jahannama khalidoona

et ceux dont la balance est légère seront ceux qui ont ruiné leurs propres âmes et ils demeureront éternellement dans l'Enfer.

But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls, in Hell will they abide.

تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ النَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَٰلِحُونَ[104]

Le feu brûlera leurs visages et ils auront les lèvres crispées.

The Fire will burn their faces, and they will therein grin, with their lips displaced.

أَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ[105]

«Mes versets ne vous étaient-ils pas récités et vous les traitiez alors de mensonges?»

"Were not My Signs rehearsed to you, and ye did but treat them as falsehood?"

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَآلِّينَ[106]

Ils dirent: «Seigneur! Notre malheur nous a vaincus, et nous étions des gens égarés.

They will say: "our Lord! Our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray!

رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَا فَإِنَّا ظَٰلِمُونَ[107]

Seigneur, fais nous-en sortir! Et si nous récidivons, nous serons alors des injustes».

"Our Lord! bring us out of this: if ever we return (to Evil), then shall we be wrong-doers indeed!"

قَالَ اخْسَـُٔوا۟ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ[108]

Il dit: «Soyez-y refoulés (humiliés) et ne Me parlez plus».

He will say: "Be ye driven into it (with ignominy)! And speak ye not to Me!

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِى يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّٰحِمِينَ[109]

Innahu kana fareequn min AAibadee yaqooloona rabbana amanna faighfir lana wairhamna waanta khayru alrrahimeena

Il y eut un groupe de Mes serviteurs qui dirent: «Seigneur, nous croyons; pardonne-nous donc et fais-nous miséricorde, car Tu es le meilleur des Miséricordieux»

"A part of My servants there was, who used to pray 'our Lord! we believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us: For Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"

فَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِى وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ[110]

Faittakhathtumoohum sikhriyyan hatta ansawkum thikree wakuntum minhum tadhakoona

mais vous les avez pris en raillerie jusqu'à oublier de M'invoquer, et vous vous riiez d'eux.

"But ye treated them with ridicule, so much so that (ridicule of) them made you forget My Message while ye were laughing at them!

إِنِّى جَزَيْتُهُمُ الْيَوْمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْفَآئِزُونَ[111]

Vraiment, Je les ai récompensés aujourd'hui pour ce qu'ils ont enduré; et ce sont eux les triomphants.

"I have rewarded them this Day for their patience and constancy: they are indeed the ones that have achieved Bliss..."

قَٰلَ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى الْأَرْضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ[112]

Il dira: «Combien d'années êtes-vous restés sur terre?»

He will say: "What number of years did ye stay on earth?"

قَالُوا۟ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ فَسْـَٔلِ الْعَآدِّينَ[113]

Ils diront: «Nous y avons demeuré un jour, ou une partie d'un jour. Interroge donc ceux qui comptent.»

They will say: "We stayed a day or part of a day: but ask those who keep account."

قَٰلَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ۖ لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ[114]

Il dira: «Vous n'y avez demeuré que peu [de temps], si seulement vous saviez.

He will say: "Ye stayed not but a little,- if ye had only known!

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ[115]

Pensiez-vous que Nous vous avions créés sans but, et que vous ne seriez pas ramenés vers Nous?»

"Did ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be brought back to Us (for account)?"

فَتَعَٰلَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ[116]

Que soit exalté Allah, le vrai Souverain! Pas de divinité en dehors de Lui, le Seigneur du Trône sublime!

Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!

وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ الْكَٰفِرُونَ[117]

Waman yadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara la burhana lahu bihi fainnama hisabuhu AAinda rabbihi innahu la yuflihu alkafiroona

Et quiconque invoque avec Allah une autre divinité, sans avoir la preuve évidente [de son existence], aura à en rendre compte à son Seigneur. En vérité, les mécréants, ne réussiront pas.

If anyone invokes, besides Allah, Any other god, he has no authority therefor; and his reckoning will be only with his Lord! and verily the Unbelievers will fail to win through!

وَقُل رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّٰحِمِينَ[118]

Et dis: «Seigneur, pardonne et fais miséricorde. C'est Toi le Meilleur des miséricordieux».

So say: "O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"
