بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ سُورَةٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهَا وَفَرَضْنَٰهَا وَأَنزَلْنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَٰتٍۭ بَيِّنَٰتٍ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ[1]

Sooratun anzalnaha wafaradnaha waanzalna feeha ayatin bayyinatin laAAallakum tathakkaroona

Voici une Sourate que Nous avons fait descendre et que Nous avons imposée, et Nous y avons fait descendre des versets explicites afin que vous vous souveniez».

A sura which We have sent down and which We have ordained in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition.

الزَّانِيَةُ وَالزَّانِى فَاجْلِدُوا۟ كُلَّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا مِا۟ئَةَ جَلْدَةٍ ۖ وَلَا تَأْخُذْكُم بِهِمَا رَأْفَةٌ فِى دِينِ اللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْءَاخِرِ ۖ وَلْيَشْهَدْ عَذَابَهُمَا طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[2]

Alzzaniyatu waalzzanee faijlidoo kulla wahidin minhuma miata jaldatin wala takhuthkum bihima rafatun fee deeni Allahi in kuntum tuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri walyashhad AAathabahuma taifatun mina almumineena

La fornicatrice et le fornicateur, fouettez-les chacun de cent coups de fouet. Et ne soyez point pris de pitié pour eux dans l'exécution de la loi d'Allah - si vous croyez en Allah et au Jour dernier. Et qu'un groupe de croyants assiste à leur punition.

The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.

الزَّانِى لَا يَنكِحُ إِلَّا زَانِيَةً أَوْ مُشْرِكَةً وَالزَّانِيَةُ لَا يَنكِحُهَآ إِلَّا زَانٍ أَوْ مُشْرِكٌ ۚ وَحُرِّمَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[3]

Alzzanee la yankihu illa zaniyatan aw mushrikatan waalzzaniyatu la yankihuha illa zanin aw mushrikun wahurrima thalika AAala almumineena

Le fornicateur n'épousera qu'une fornicatrice ou une associatrice. Et la fornicatrice ne sera épousée que par un fornicateur ou un associateur; et cela a été interdit aux croyants.

Let no man guilty of adultery or fornication marry and but a woman similarly guilty, or an Unbeliever: nor let any but such a man or an Unbeliever marry such a woman: to the Believers such a thing is forbidden.

وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْتُوا۟ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَآءَ فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثَمَٰنِينَ جَلْدَةً وَلَا تَقْبَلُوا۟ لَهُمْ شَهَٰدَةً أَبَدًا ۚ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْفَٰسِقُونَ[4]

Waallatheena yarmoona almuhsanati thumma lam yatoo biarbaAAati shuhadaa faijlidoohum thamaneena jaldatan wala taqbaloo lahum shahadatan abadan waolaika humu alfasiqoona

Et ceux qui lancent des accusations contre des femmes chastes sans produire par la suite quatre témoins, fouettez-les de quatre-vingts coups de fouet, et n'acceptez plus jamais leur témoignage. Et ceux-là sont les pervers,

And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;-

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوا۟ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[5]

Illa allatheena taboo min baAAdi thalika waaslahoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

à l'exception de ceux qui, après cela, se repentent et se réforment, car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

Unless they repent thereafter and mend (their conduct); for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ شُهَدَآءُ إِلَّآ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَشَهَٰدَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ أَرْبَعُ شَهَٰدَٰتٍۭ بِاللَّهِ ۙ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ الصَّٰدِقِينَ[6]

Waallatheena yarmoona azwajahum walam yakun lahum shuhadao illa anfusuhum fashahadatu ahadihim arbaAAu shahadatin biAllahi innahu lamina alssadiqeena

Et quant à ceux qui lancent des accusations contre leurs propres épouses, sans avoir d'autres témoins qu'eux-mêmes, le témoignage de l'un d'eux doit être une quadruple attestation par Allah qu'il est du nombre des véridiques,

And for those who launch a charge against their spouses, and have (in support) no evidence but their own,- their solitary evidence (can be received) if they bear witness four times (with an oath) by Allah that they are solemnly telling the truth;

وَالْخَٰمِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْكَٰذِبِينَ[7]

Waalkhamisatu anna laAAnata Allahi AAalayhi in kana mina alkathibeena

et la cinquième [attestation] est «que la malédiction d'Allah tombe sur lui s'il est du nombre des menteurs».

And the fifth (oath) (should be) that they solemnly invoke the curse of Allah on themselves if they tell a lie.

وَيَدْرَؤُا۟ عَنْهَا الْعَذَابَ أَن تَشْهَدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَٰدَٰتٍۭ بِاللَّهِ ۙ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ الْكَٰذِبِينَ[8]

Wayadrao AAanha alAAathaba an tashhada arbaAAa shahadatin biAllahi innahu lamina alkathibeena

Et on ne lui infligera pas le châtiment [de la lapidation] si elle atteste quatre fois par Allah qu'il [son mari] est certainement du nombre des menteurs,

But it would avert the punishment from the wife, if she bears witness four times (with an oath) By Allah, that (her husband) is telling a lie;

وَالْخَٰمِسَةَ أَنَّ غَضَبَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ الصَّٰدِقِينَ[9]

Waalkhamisata anna ghadaba Allahi AAalayha in kana mina alssadiqeena

et la cinquième [attestation] est que la colère d'Allah soit sur elle, s'il était du nombre des véridiques.

And the fifth (oath) should be that she solemnly invokes the wrath of Allah on herself if (her accuser) is telling the truth.

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَوَّابٌ حَكِيمٌ[10]

Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu waanna Allaha tawwabun hakeemun

Et, n'étaient la grâce d'Allah sur vous et Sa miséricorde...! Allah est Grand Accueillant au repentir et Sage!

If it were not for Allah's grace and mercy on you, and that Allah is Oft-Returning, full of Wisdom,- (Ye would be ruined indeed).

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ جَآءُو بِالْإِفْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِّنكُمْ ۚ لَا تَحْسَبُوهُ شَرًّا لَّكُم ۖ بَلْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۚ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُم مَّا اكْتَسَبَ مِنَ الْإِثْمِ ۚ وَالَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ كِبْرَهُۥ مِنْهُمْ لَهُۥ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ[11]

Inna allatheena jaoo bialifki AAusbatun minkum la tahsaboohu sharran lakum bal huwa khayrun lakum likulli imriin minhum ma iktasaba mina alithmi waallathee tawalla kibrahu minhum lahu AAathabun AAatheemun

Ceux qui sont venus avec la calomnie sont un groupe d'entre vous. Ne pensez pas que c'est un mal pour vous, mais plutôt, c'est un bien pour vous. A chacun d'eux ce qu'il s'est acquis comme péché. Celui d'entre eux qui s'est chargé de la plus grande part aura un énorme châtiment.

Those who brought forward the lie are a body among yourselves: think it not to be an evil to you; On the contrary it is good for you: to every man among them (will come the punishment) of the sin that he earned, and to him who took on himself the lead among them, will be a penalty grievous.

لَّوْلَآ إِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ ظَنَّ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ خَيْرًا وَقَالُوا۟ هَٰذَآ إِفْكٌ مُّبِينٌ[12]

Lawla ith samiAAtumoohu thanna almuminoona waalmuminatu bianfusihim khayran waqaloo hatha ifkun mubeenun

Pourquoi, lorsque vous l'avez entendue [cette calomnie], les croyants et les croyantes n'ont-ils pas, en eux-mêmes, conjecturé favorablement, et n'ont-ils pas dit: «C'est une calomnie évidente?»

Why did not the believers - men and women - when ye heard of the affair,- put the best construction on it in their own minds and say, "This (charge) is an obvious lie"?

لَّوْلَا جَآءُو عَلَيْهِ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَآءَ ۚ فَإِذْ لَمْ يَأْتُوا۟ بِالشُّهَدَآءِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ عِندَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْكَٰذِبُونَ[13]

Lawla jaoo AAalayhi biarbaAAati shuhadaa faith lam yatoo bialshshuhadai faolaika AAinda Allahi humu alkathiboona

Pourquoi n'ont-ils pas produit [à l'appui de leurs accusations] quatre témoins? S'ils ne produisent pas de témoins, alors ce sont eux, auprès d'Allah, les menteurs.

Why did they not bring four witnesses to prove it? When they have not brought the witnesses, such men, in the sight of Allah, (stand forth) themselves as liars!

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْءَاخِرَةِ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِى مَآ أَفَضْتُمْ فِيهِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ[14]

Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu fee alddunya waalakhirati lamassakum fee ma afadtum feehi AAathabun AAatheemun

N'eussent-été la grâce d'Allah sur vous et Sa miséricorde ici-bas comme dans l'au-delà, un énorme châtiment vous aurait touchés pour cette (calomnie) dans laquelle vous vous êtes lancés,

Were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, in this world and the Hereafter, a grievous penalty would have seized you in that ye rushed glibly into this affair.

إِذْ تَلَقَّوْنَهُۥ بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَتَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَاهِكُم مَّا لَيْسَ لَكُم بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَتَحْسَبُونَهُۥ هَيِّنًا وَهُوَ عِندَ اللَّهِ عَظِيمٌ[15]

Ith talaqqawnahu bialsinatikum wataqooloona biafwahikum ma laysa lakum bihi AAilmun watahsaboonahu hayyinan wahuwa AAinda Allahi AAatheemun

quand vous colportiez la nouvelle avec vos langues et disiez de vos bouches ce dont vous n'aviez aucun savoir; et vous le comptiez comme insignifiant alors qu'auprès d'Allah cela est énorme.

Behold, ye received it on your tongues, and said out of your mouths things of which ye had no knowledge; and ye thought it to be a light matter, while it was most serious in the sight of Allah.

وَلَوْلَآ إِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ قُلْتُم مَّا يَكُونُ لَنَآ أَن نَّتَكَلَّمَ بِهَٰذَا سُبْحَٰنَكَ هَٰذَا بُهْتَٰنٌ عَظِيمٌ[16]

Walawla ith samiAAtumoohu qultum ma yakoonu lana an natakallama bihatha subhanaka hatha buhtanun AAatheemun

Et pourquoi, lorsque vous l'entendiez, ne disiez-vous pas: «Nous ne devons pas en parler. Gloire à Toi (ô Allah)! C'est une énorme calomnie»?

And why did ye not, when ye heard it, say? - "It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to Allah! this is a most serious slander!"

يَعِظُكُمُ اللَّهُ أَن تَعُودُوا۟ لِمِثْلِهِۦٓ أَبَدًا إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[17]

YaAAithukumu Allahu an taAAoodoo limithlihi abadan in kuntum mumineena

Allah vous exhorte à ne plus jamais revenir à une chose pareille si vous êtes croyants.

Allah doth admonish you, that ye may never repeat such (conduct), if ye are (true) Believers.

وَيُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْءَايَٰتِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ[18]

Wayubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun

Allah vous expose clairement les versets et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

And Allah makes the Signs plain to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَن تَشِيعَ الْفَٰحِشَةُ فِى الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْءَاخِرَةِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ[19]

Inna allatheena yuhibboona an tasheeAAa alfahishatu fee allatheena amanoo lahum AAathabun aleemun fee alddunya waalakhirati waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona

Ceux qui aiment que la turpitude se propage parmi les croyants auront un châtiment douloureux, ici-bas comme dans l'au-delà. Allah sait, et vous, vous ne savez pas.

Those who love (to see) scandal published broadcast among the Believers, will have a grievous Penalty in this life and in the Hereafter: Allah knows, and ye know not.

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ[20]

Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu waanna Allaha raoofun raheemun

Et n'eussent été la grâce d'Allah sur vous et Sa miséricorde et (n'eût été) qu'Allah est Compatissant et Miséricordieux...

Were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, and that Allah is full of kindness and mercy, (ye would be ruined indeed).

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَٰتِ الشَّيْطَٰنِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَّبِعْ خُطُوَٰتِ الشَّيْطَٰنِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَآءِ وَالْمُنكَرِ ۚ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ مَا زَكَىٰ مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ[21]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani waman yattabiAA khutuwati alshshaytani fainnahu yamuru bialfahshai waalmunkari walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu ma zaka minkum min ahadin abadan walakinna Allaha yuzakkee man yashao waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun

O vous qui avez cru! Ne suivez pas les pas du Diable. Quiconque suit les pas du Diable, [sachez que] celui-ci ordonne la turpitude et le blâmable. Et n'eussent été la grâce d'Allah envers vous et Sa miséricorde, nul d'entre vous n'aurait jamais été pur. Mais Allah purifie qui Il veut. Et Allah est Audient et Omniscient.

O ye who believe! follow not Satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of Satan, he will (but) command what is shameful and wrong: and were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah doth purify whom He pleases: and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things).

وَلَا يَأْتَلِ أُو۟لُوا۟ الْفَضْلِ مِنكُمْ وَالسَّعَةِ أَن يُؤْتُوٓا۟ أُو۟لِى الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْمَسَٰكِينَ وَالْمُهَٰجِرِينَ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَلْيَعْفُوا۟ وَلْيَصْفَحُوٓا۟ ۗ أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَن يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[22]

Wala yatali oloo alfadli minkum waalssaAAati an yutoo olee alqurba waalmasakeena waalmuhajireena fee sabeeli Allahi walyaAAfoo walyasfahoo ala tuhibboona an yaghfira Allahu lakum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun

Et que les détenteurs de richesse et d'aisance parmi vous, ne jurent pas de ne plus faire des dons aux proches, aux pauvres, et à ceux qui émigrent dans le sentier d'Allah. Qu'ils pardonnent et absolvent. N'aimez-vous pas qu'Allah vous pardonne? et Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux!

Let not those among you who are endued with grace and amplitude of means resolve by oath against helping their kinsmen, those in want, and those who have left their homes in Allah's cause: let them forgive and overlook, do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَٰتِ الْغَٰفِلَٰتِ الْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ لُعِنُوا۟ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْءَاخِرَةِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ[23]

Inna allatheena yarmoona almuhsanati alghafilati almuminati luAAinoo fee alddunya waalakhirati walahum AAathabun AAatheemun

Ceux qui lancent des accusations contre des femmes vertueuses, chastes [qui ne pensent même pas à commettre la turpitude] et croyantes sont maudits ici-bas comme dans l'au-delà; et ils auront un énorme châtiment,

Those who slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing, are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter: for them is a grievous Penalty,-

يَوْمَ تَشْهَدُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ وَأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[24]

Yawma tashhadu AAalayhim alsinatuhum waaydeehim waarjuluhum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

Le jour où leurs langues, leurs mains et leurs pieds témoigneront contre eux de ce qu'ils faisaient.

On the Day when their tongues, their hands, and their feet will bear witness against them as to their actions.

يَوْمَئِذٍ يُوَفِّيهِمُ اللَّهُ دِينَهُمُ الْحَقَّ وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِينُ[25]

Yawmaithin yuwaffeehimu Allahu deenahumu alhaqqa wayaAAlamoona anna Allaha huwa alhaqqu almubeenu

Ce Jour-là, Allah leur donnera leur pleine et vraie rétribution; et ils sauront que c'est Allah qui est le Vrai de toute évidence.

On that Day Allah will pay them back (all) their just dues, and they will realise that Allah is the (very) Truth, that makes all things manifest.

الْخَبِيثَٰتُ لِلْخَبِيثِينَ وَالْخَبِيثُونَ لِلْخَبِيثَٰتِ ۖ وَالطَّيِّبَٰتُ لِلطَّيِّبِينَ وَالطَّيِّبُونَ لِلطَّيِّبَٰتِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مُبَرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ ۖ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ[26]

Alkhabeethatu lilkhabeetheena waalkhabeethoona lilkhabeethati waalttayyibatu lilttayyibeena waalttayyiboona lilttayyibati olaika mubarraoona mimma yaqooloona lahum maghfiratun warizqun kareemun

Les mauvaises [femmes] aux mauvais [hommes], et les mauvais [hommes] aux mauvaises [femmes]. De même, les bonnes [femmes] aux bons [hommes], et les bons [hommes] aux bonnes [femmes]. Ceux-là sont innocents de ce que les autres disent. Ils ont un pardon et une récompense généreuse.

Women impure are for men impure, and men impure for women impure and women of purity are for men of purity, and men of purity are for women of purity: these are not affected by what people say: for them there is forgiveness, and a provision honourable.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَدْخُلُوا۟ بُيُوتًا غَيْرَ بُيُوتِكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تَسْتَأْنِسُوا۟ وَتُسَلِّمُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ[27]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tadkhuloo buyootan ghayra buyootikum hatta tastanisoo watusallimoo AAala ahliha thalikum khayrun lakum laAAallakum tathakkaroona

O vous qui croyez! N'entrez pas dans des maisons autres que les vôtres avant de demander la permission [d'une façon délicate] et de saluer leurs habitants. Cela est meilleur pour vous. Peut-être vous souvenez-vous.

O ye who believe! enter not houses other than your own, until ye have asked permission and saluted those in them: that is best for you, in order that ye may heed (what is seemly).

فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فِيهَآ أَحَدًا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا حَتَّىٰ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ وَإِن قِيلَ لَكُمُ ارْجِعُوا۟ فَارْجِعُوا۟ ۖ هُوَ أَزْكَىٰ لَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ[28]

Fain lam tajidoo feeha ahadan fala tadkhulooha hatta yuthana lakum wain qeela lakumu irjiAAoo fairjiAAoo huwa azka lakum waAllahu bima taAAmaloona AAaleemun

Si vous n'y trouvez personne, alors n'y entrez pas avant que permission vous soit donnée. Et si on vous dit: «Retournez», eh bien, retournez. Cela est plus pur pour vous. Et Allah, de ce que vous faites est Omniscient.

If ye find no one in the house, enter not until permission is given to you: if ye are asked to go back, go back: that makes for greater purity for yourselves: and Allah knows well all that ye do.

لَّيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَدْخُلُوا۟ بُيُوتًا غَيْرَ مَسْكُونَةٍ فِيهَا مَتَٰعٌ لَّكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا تَكْتُمُونَ[29]

Laysa AAalaykum junahun an tadkhuloo buyootan ghayra maskoonatin feeha mataAAun lakum waAllahu yaAAlamu ma tubdoona wama taktumoona

Nul grief contre vous à entrer dans des maisons inhabitées où se trouve un bien pour vous. Allah sait ce que vous divulguez et ce que vous cachez.

It is no fault on your part to enter houses not used for living in, which serve some (other) use for you: And Allah has knowledge of what ye reveal and what ye conceal.

قُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا۟ مِنْ أَبْصَٰرِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا۟ فُرُوجَهُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَزْكَىٰ لَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ[30]

Qul lilmumineena yaghuddoo min absarihum wayahfathoo furoojahum thalika azka lahum inna Allaha khabeerun bima yasnaAAoona

Dis aux croyants de baisser leurs regards et de garder leur chasteté. C'est plus pur pour eux. Allah est, certes, Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce qu'ils font.

Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.

وَقُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَٰرِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَىٰ جُيُوبِهِنَّ ۖ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ ءَابَآئِهِنَّ أَوْ ءَابَآءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَآئِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَآءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ أَوْ بَنِىٓ إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ أَوْ بَنِىٓ أَخَوَٰتِهِنَّ أَوْ نِسَآئِهِنَّ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُنَّ أَوِ التَّٰبِعِينَ غَيْرِ أُو۟لِى الْإِرْبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ أَوِ الطِّفْلِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ عَوْرَٰتِ النِّسَآءِ ۖ وَلَا يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ مِن زِينَتِهِنَّ ۚ وَتُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ[31]

Waqul lilmuminati yaghdudna min absarihinna wayahfathna furoojahunna wala yubdeena zeenatahunna illa ma thahara minha walyadribna bikhumurihinna AAala juyoobihinna wala yubdeena zeenatahunna illa libuAAoolatihinna aw abaihinna aw abai buAAoolatihinna aw abnaihinna aw abnai buAAoolatihinna aw ikhwanihinna aw banee ikhwanihinna aw banee akhawatihinna aw nisaihinna aw ma malakat aymanuhunna awi alttabiAAeena ghayri olee alirbati mina alrrijali awi alttifli allatheena lam yathharoo AAala AAawrati alnnisai wala yadribna biarjulihinna liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinna watooboo ila Allahi jameeAAan ayyuha almuminoona laAAallakum tuflihoona

Et dis aux croyantes de baisser leurs regards, de garder leur chasteté, et de ne montrer de leurs atours que ce qui en paraît et qu'elles rabattent leur voile sur leurs poitrines; et qu'elles ne montrent leurs atours qu'à leurs maris, ou à leurs pères, ou aux pères de leurs maris, ou à leurs fils, ou aux fils de leurs maris, ou à leurs frères, ou aux fils de leurs frères, ou aux fils de leurs sœurs, ou aux femmes musulmanes, ou aux esclaves qu'elles possèdent, ou aux domestiques mâles impuissants, ou aux garçons impubères qui ignorent tout des parties cachées des femmes. Et qu'elles ne frappent pas avec leurs pieds de façon que l'on sache ce qu'elles cachent de leurs parures. Et repentez-vous tous devant Allah, ô croyants, afin que vous récoltiez le succès.

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.

وَأَنكِحُوا۟ الْأَيَٰمَىٰ مِنكُمْ وَالصَّٰلِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَآئِكُمْ ۚ إِن يَكُونُوا۟ فُقَرَآءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۗ وَاللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ[32]

Waankihoo alayama minkum waalssaliheena min AAibadikum waimaikum in yakoonoo fuqaraa yughnihimu Allahu min fadlihi waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun

Mariez les célibataires d'entre vous et les gens de bien parmi vos esclaves, hommes et femmes. S'ils sont besogneux, Allah les rendra riches par Sa grâce. Car (la grâce d') Allah est immense et Il est Omniscient.

Marry those among you who are single, or the virtuous ones among yourselves, male or female: if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace: for Allah encompasseth all, and he knoweth all things.

وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّىٰ يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ يَبْتَغُونَ الْكِتَٰبَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَكَاتِبُوهُمْ إِنْ عَلِمْتُمْ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا ۖ وَءَاتُوهُم مِّن مَّالِ اللَّهِ الَّذِىٓ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۚ وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا۟ فَتَيَٰتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَآءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًا لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ عَرَضَ الْحَيَوٰةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَمَن يُكْرِههُّنَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِكْرَٰهِهِنَّ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[33]

WalyastaAAfifi allatheena la yajidoona nikahan hatta yughniyahumu Allahu min fadlihi waallatheena yabtaghoona alkitaba mimma malakat aymanukum fakatiboohum in AAalimtum feehim khayran waatoohum min mali Allahi allathee atakum wala tukrihoo fatayatikum AAala albighai in aradna tahassunan litabtaghoo AAarada alhayati alddunya waman yukrihhunna fainna Allaha min baAAdi ikrahihinna ghafoorun raheemun

Et que ceux qui n'ont pas de quoi se marier, cherchent à rester chastes jusqu'à ce qu'Allah les enrichisse par Sa grâce. Ceux de vos esclaves qui cherchent un contrat d'affranchissement, concluez ce contrat avec eux si vous reconnaissez du bien en eux; et donnez-leur des biens d'Allah qu'Il vous a accordés. Et dans votre recherche des profits passagers de la vie présente, ne contraignez pas vos femmes esclaves à la prostitution, si elles veulent rester chastes. Si on les y contraint, Allah leur accorde après qu'elles aient été contraintes, Son pardon et Sa miséricorde.

Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them),

وَلَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ ءَايَٰتٍ مُّبَيِّنَٰتٍ وَمَثَلًا مِّنَ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ[34]

Walaqad anzalna ilaykum ayatin mubayyinatin wamathalan mina allatheena khalaw min qablikum wamawAAithatan lilmuttaqeena

Nous avons effectivement fait descendre vers vous des versets clairs, donnant une parabole de ceux qui ont vécu avant vous, et une exhortation pour les pieux!

We have already sent down to you verses making things clear, an illustration from (the story of) people who passed away before you, and an admonition for those who fear (Allah).

۞ اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ مَثَلُ نُورِهِۦ كَمِشْكَوٰةٍ فِيهَا مِصْبَاحٌ ۖ الْمِصْبَاحُ فِى زُجَاجَةٍ ۖ الزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوْكَبٌ دُرِّىٌّ يُوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٍ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍ زَيْتُونَةٍ لَّا شَرْقِيَّةٍ وَلَا غَرْبِيَّةٍ يَكَادُ زَيْتُهَا يُضِىٓءُ وَلَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نَارٌ ۚ نُّورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٍ ۗ يَهْدِى اللَّهُ لِنُورِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَيَضْرِبُ اللَّهُ الْأَمْثَٰلَ لِلنَّاسِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ[35]

Allahu nooru alssamawati waalardi mathalu noorihi kamishkatin feeha misbahun almisbahu fee zujajatin alzzujajatu kaannaha kawkabun durriyyun yooqadu min shajaratin mubarakatin zaytoonatin la sharqiyyatin wala gharbiyyatin yakadu zaytuha yudeeo walaw lam tamsashu narun noorun AAala noorin yahdee Allahu linoorihi man yashao wayadribu Allahu alamthala lilnnasi waAllahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Allah est la Lumière des cieux et de la terre. Sa lumière est semblable à une niche où se trouve une lampe. La lampe est dans un (récipient de) cristal et celui-ci ressemble à un astre de grand éclat; son combustible vient d'un arbre béni: un olivier ni oriental ni occidental dont l'huile semble éclairer sans même que le feu la touche. Lumière sur lumière. Allah guide vers Sa lumière qui Il veut. Allah propose aux hommes des paraboles et Allah est Omniscient.

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

فِى بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَن تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُۥ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ فِيهَا بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالْءَاصَالِ[36]

Fee buyootin athina Allahu an turfaAAa wayuthkara feeha ismuhu yusabbihu lahu feeha bialghuduwwi waalasali

Dans des maisons [des mosquées] qu'Allah a permis que l'on élève, et où Son Nom est invoqué; Le glorifient en elles matin et après-midi,

(Lit is such a Light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honour; for the celebration, in them, of His name: In them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again),-

رِجَالٌ لَّا تُلْهِيهِمْ تِجَٰرَةٌ وَلَا بَيْعٌ عَن ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءِ الزَّكَوٰةِ ۙ يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ الْقُلُوبُ وَالْأَبْصَٰرُ[37]

Rijalun la tulheehim tijaratun wala bayAAun AAan thikri Allahi waiqami alssalati waeetai alzzakati yakhafoona yawman tataqallabu feehi alquloobu waalabsaru

des hommes que ni le négoce, ni le troc ne distraient de l'invocation d'Allah, de l'accomplissement de la Salât et de l'acquittement de la Zakât, et qui redoutent un Jour où les cœurs seront bouleversés ainsi que les regards.

By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular Charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed (in a world wholly new),-

لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ[38]

Liyajziyahumu Allahu ahsana ma AAamiloo wayazeedahum min fadlihi waAllahu yarzuqu man yashao bighayri hisabin

Afin qu'Allah les récompense de la meilleure façon pour ce qu'ils ont fait [de bien]. Et Il leur ajoutera de Sa grâce. Allah attribue à qui Il veut sans compter.

That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace: for Allah doth provide for those whom He will, without measure.

وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ كَسَرَابٍۭ بِقِيعَةٍ يَحْسَبُهُ الظَّمْـَٔانُ مَآءً حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَهُۥ لَمْ يَجِدْهُ شَيْـًٔا وَوَجَدَ اللَّهَ عِندَهُۥ فَوَفَّىٰهُ حِسَابَهُۥ ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ[39]

Waallatheena kafaroo aAAmaluhum kasarabin biqeeAAatin yahsabuhu alththamanu maan hatta itha jaahu lam yajidhu shayan wawajada Allaha AAindahu fawaffahu hisabahu waAllahu sareeAAu alhisabi

Quant à ceux qui ont mécru, leurs actions sont comme un mirage dans une plaine désertique que l'assoiffé prend pour de l'eau. Puis quand il y arrive, il s'aperçoit que ce n'était rien; mais y trouve Allah qui lui règle son compte en entier, car Allah est prompt à compter.

But the Unbelievers,- their deeds are like a mirage in sandy deserts, which the man parched with thirst mistakes for water; until when he comes up to it, he finds it to be nothing: But he finds Allah (ever) with him, and Allah will pay him his account: and Allah is swift in taking account.

أَوْ كَظُلُمَٰتٍ فِى بَحْرٍ لُّجِّىٍّ يَغْشَىٰهُ مَوْجٌ مِّن فَوْقِهِۦ مَوْجٌ مِّن فَوْقِهِۦ سَحَابٌ ۚ ظُلُمَٰتٌۢ بَعْضُهَا فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ إِذَآ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُۥ لَمْ يَكَدْ يَرَىٰهَا ۗ وَمَن لَّمْ يَجْعَلِ اللَّهُ لَهُۥ نُورًا فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن نُّورٍ[40]

Aw kathulumatin fee bahrin lujjiyyin yaghshahu mawjun min fawqihi mawjun min fawqihi sahabun thulumatun baAAduha fawqa baAAdin itha akhraja yadahu lam yakad yaraha waman lam yajAAali Allahu lahu nooran fama lahu min noorin

[Les actions des mécréants] sont encore semblables à des ténèbres sur une mer profonde: des vagues la recouvrent, [vagues] au dessus desquelles s'élèvent [d'autres] vagues, sur lesquelles il y a [d'épais] nuages. Ténèbres [entassées] les unes au-dessus des autres. Quand quelqu'un étend la main, il ne la distingue presque pas. Celui qu'Allah prive de lumière n'a aucune lumière.

Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَن فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالطَّيْرُ صَٰٓفَّٰتٍ ۖ كُلٌّ قَدْ عَلِمَ صَلَاتَهُۥ وَتَسْبِيحَهُۥ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ[41]

Alam tara anna Allaha yusabbihu lahu man fee alssamawati waalardi waalttayru saffatin kullun qad AAalima salatahu watasbeehahu waAllahu AAaleemun bima yafAAaloona

N'as-tu pas vu qu'Allah est glorifié par tous ceux qui sont dans les cieux et la terre; ainsi que par les oiseaux déployant leurs ailes? Chacun, certes, a appris sa façon de L'adorer et de Le glorifier. Allah sait parfaitement ce qu'ils font.

Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do.

وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ الْمَصِيرُ[42]

Walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi waila Allahi almaseeru

C'est à Allah qu'appartient la royauté des cieux et de la terre. Et vers Allah sera le retour final.

Yea, to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; and to Allah is the final goal (of all).

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُزْجِى سَحَابًا ثُمَّ يُؤَلِّفُ بَيْنَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُۥ رُكَامًا فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلَٰلِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مِن جِبَالٍ فِيهَا مِنۢ بَرَدٍ فَيُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَصْرِفُهُۥ عَن مَّن يَشَآءُ ۖ يَكَادُ سَنَا بَرْقِهِۦ يَذْهَبُ بِالْأَبْصَٰرِ[43]

Alam tara anna Allaha yuzjee sahaban thumma yuallifu baynahu thumma yajAAaluhu rukaman fatara alwadqa yakhruju min khilalihi wayunazzilu mina alssamai min jibalin feeha min baradin fayuseebu bihi man yashao wayasrifuhu AAan man yashao yakadu sana barqihi yathhabu bialabsari

N'as-tu pas vu qu'Allah pousse les nuages? Ensuite Il les réunit et Il en fait un amas, et tu vois la pluie sortir de son sein. Et Il fait descendre du ciel, de la grêle [provenant] des nuages [comparables] à des montagnes. Il en frappe qui Il veut et l'écarte de qui Il veut. Peu s'en faut que l'éclat de son éclair ne ravisse la vue.

Seest thou not that Allah makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap? - then wilt thou see rain issue forth from their midst. And He sends down from the sky mountain masses (of clouds) wherein is hail: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He turns it away from whom He pleases, the vivid flash of His lightning well-nigh blinds the sight.

يُقَلِّبُ اللَّهُ الَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّأُو۟لِى الْأَبْصَٰرِ[44]

Yuqallibu Allahu allayla waalnnahara inna fee thalika laAAibratan liolee alabsari

Allah fait alterner la nuit et le jour. Il y a là un sujet de réflexion pour ceux qui ont des yeux.

It is Allah Who alternates the Night and the Day: verily in these things is an instructive example for those who have vision!

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَآبَّةٍ مِّن مَّآءٍ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَمْشِى عَلَىٰ بَطْنِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَمْشِى عَلَىٰ رِجْلَيْنِ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَمْشِى عَلَىٰٓ أَرْبَعٍ ۚ يَخْلُقُ اللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ[45]

WaAllahu khalaqa kulla dabbatin min main faminhum man yamshee AAala batnihi waminhum man yamshee AAala rijlayni waminhum man yamshee AAala arbaAAin yakhluqu Allahu ma yashao inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Et Allah a créé d'eau tout animal. Il y en a qui marche sur le ventre, d'autres marchent sur deux pattes, et d'autres encore marchent sur quatre. Allah crée ce qu'Il veut et Allah est Omnipotent.

And Allah has created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills for verily Allah has power over all things.

لَّقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ ءَايَٰتٍ مُّبَيِّنَٰتٍ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ[46]

Laqad anzalna ayatin mubayyinatin waAllahu yahdee man yashao ila siratin mustaqeemin

Nous avons certes fait descendre des versets explicites. Et Allah guide qui Il veut vers un droit chemin.

We have indeed sent down signs that make things manifest: and Allah guides whom He wills to a way that is straight.

وَيَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالرَّسُولِ وَأَطَعْنَا ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ[47]

Wayaqooloona amanna biAllahi wabialrrasooli waataAAna thumma yatawalla fareequn minhum min baAAdi thalika wama olaika bialmumineena

Et ils disent: «Nous croyons en Allah et au messager et nous obéissons». Puis après cela, une partie d'entre eux fait volte-face. Ce ne sont point ceux-là les croyants.

They say, "We believe in Allah and in the messenger, and we obey": but even after that, some of them turn away: they are not (really) Believers.

وَإِذَا دُعُوٓا۟ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ[48]

Waitha duAAoo ila Allahi warasoolihi liyahkuma baynahum itha fareequn minhum muAAridoona

Et quand on les appelle vers Allah et Son messager pour que celui-ci juge parmi eux, voilà que quelques-uns d'entre eux s'éloignent.

When they are summoned to Allah and His messenger, in order that He may judge between them, behold some of them decline (to come).

وَإِن يَكُن لَّهُمُ الْحَقُّ يَأْتُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ مُذْعِنِينَ[49]

Wain yakun lahumu alhaqqu yatoo ilayhi muthAAineena

Mais s'ils ont le droit en leur faveur, ils viennent à lui, soumis.

But if the right is on their side, they come to him with all submission.

أَفِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ أَمِ ارْتَابُوٓا۟ أَمْ يَخَافُونَ أَن يَحِيفَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚ بَلْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الظَّٰلِمُونَ[50]

Afee quloobihim maradun ami irtaboo am yakhafoona an yaheefa Allahu AAalayhim warasooluhu bal olaika humu alththalimoona

Y a-t-il une maladie dans leurs cœurs? ou doutent-ils ? ou craignent-ils qu'Allah les opprime, ainsi que Son messager? Non!... mais ce sont eux les injustes.

Is it that there is a disease in their hearts? or do they doubt, or are they in fear, that Allah and His Messenger will deal unjustly with them? Nay, it is they themselves who do wrong.

إِنَّمَا كَانَ قَوْلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذَا دُعُوٓا۟ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَن يَقُولُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۚ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ[51]

Innama kana qawla almumineena itha duAAoo ila Allahi warasoolihi liyahkuma baynahum an yaqooloo samiAAna waataAAna waolaika humu almuflihoona

La seule parole des croyants, quand on les appelle vers Allah et Son messager, pour que celui-ci juge parmi eux, est: «Nous avons entendu et nous avons obéi». Et voilà ceux qui réussissent.

The answer of the Believers, when summoned to Allah and His Messenger, in order that He may judge between them, is no other than this: they say, "We hear and we obey": it is such as these that will attain felicity.

وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَخْشَ اللَّهَ وَيَتَّقْهِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْفَآئِزُونَ[52]

Waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu wayakhsha Allaha wayattaqhi faolaika humu alfaizoona

Et quiconque obéit à Allah et à Son messager, et craint Allah et Le redoute... alors, voilà ceux qui récoltent le succès.

It is such as obey Allah and His Messenger, and fear Allah and do right, that will win (in the end),

۞ وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِنْ أَمَرْتَهُمْ لَيَخْرُجُنَّ ۖ قُل لَّا تُقْسِمُوا۟ ۖ طَاعَةٌ مَّعْرُوفَةٌ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ[53]

Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim lain amartahum layakhrujunna qul la tuqsimoo taAAatun maAAroofatun inna Allaha khabeerun bima taAAmaloona

Et ils jurent par Allah en serments solennels que si tu le leur ordonnais, ils sortiraient à coup sûr (au combat). Dis: «Ne jurez donc pas. [Votre] obéissance [verbale] est bien connue. Allah est Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites».

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah that, if only thou wouldst command them, they would leave (their homes). Say: "Swear ye not; Obedience is (more) reasonable; verily, Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do."

قُلْ أَطِيعُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ الرَّسُولَ ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيْكُم مَّا حُمِّلْتُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُطِيعُوهُ تَهْتَدُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلَّا الْبَلَٰغُ الْمُبِينُ[54]

Qul ateeAAoo Allaha waateeAAoo alrrasoola fain tawallaw fainnama AAalayhi ma hummila waAAalaykum ma hummiltum wain tuteeAAoohu tahtadoo wama AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu almubeena

Dis: «Obéissez à Allah et obéissez au messager. S'ils se détournent, ...il [le messager] n'est alors responsable que de ce dont il est chargé; et vous assumez ce dont vous êtes chargés. Et si vous lui obéissez, vous serez bien guidés». Et il n'incombe au messager que de transmettre explicitement (son message).

Say: "Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger: but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you. If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach the clear (Message).

وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِى الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ الَّذِى ارْتَضَىٰ لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْنًا ۚ يَعْبُدُونَنِى لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِى شَيْـًٔا ۚ وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْفَٰسِقُونَ[55]

WaAAada Allahu allatheena amanoo minkum waAAamiloo alssalihati layastakhlifannahum fee alardi kama istakhlafa allatheena min qablihim walayumakkinanna lahum deenahumu allathee irtada lahum walayubaddilannahum min baAAdi khawfihim amnan yaAAbudoonanee la yushrikoona bee shayan waman kafara baAAda thalika faolaika humu alfasiqoona

Allah a promis à ceux d'entre vous qui ont cru et fait les bonnes œuvres qu'Il leur donnerait la succession sur terre comme Il l'a donnée à ceux qui les ont précédés. Il donnerait force et suprématie à leur religion qu'Il a agréée pour eux. Il leur changerait leur ancienne peur en sécurité. Ils M'adorent et ne M'associent rien et celui qui mécroit par la suite, ce sont ceux-là les pervers.

Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion - the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: 'They will worship Me (alone) and not associate aught with Me. 'If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked.

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ الصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ الزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ الرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ[56]

Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata waateeAAoo alrrasoola laAAallakum turhamoona

Accomplissez la Salât, acquittez la Zakât et obéissez au messager, afin que vous ayez la miséricorde.

So establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and obey the Messenger; that ye may receive mercy.

لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مُعْجِزِينَ فِى الْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ النَّارُ ۖ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ[57]

La tahsabanna allatheena kafaroo muAAjizeena fee alardi wamawahumu alnnaru walabisa almaseeru

Ne pense point que ceux qui ne croient pas puissent s'opposer à l'autorité d'Allah sur terre. Le Feu sera leur refuge. Quelle mauvaise destination.

Never think thou that the Unbelievers are going to frustrate (Allah's Plan) on earth: their abode is the Fire,- and it is indeed an evil refuge!

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لِيَسْتَـْٔذِنكُمُ الَّذِينَ مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا۟ الْحُلُمَ مِنكُمْ ثَلَٰثَ مَرَّٰتٍ ۚ مِّن قَبْلِ صَلَوٰةِ الْفَجْرِ وَحِينَ تَضَعُونَ ثِيَابَكُم مِّنَ الظَّهِيرَةِ وَمِنۢ بَعْدِ صَلَوٰةِ الْعِشَآءِ ۚ ثَلَٰثُ عَوْرَٰتٍ لَّكُمْ ۚ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَا عَلَيْهِمْ جُنَاحٌۢ بَعْدَهُنَّ ۚ طَوَّٰفُونَ عَلَيْكُم بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْءَايَٰتِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ[58]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo liyastathinkumu allatheena malakat aymanukum waallatheena lam yablughoo alhuluma minkum thalatha marratin min qabli salati alfajri waheena tadaAAoona thiyabakum mina alththaheerati wamin baAAdi salati alAAishai thalathu AAawratin lakum laysa AAalaykum wala AAalayhim junahun baAAdahunna tawwafoona AAalaykum baAAdukum AAala baAAdin kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun

O vous qui avez-cru! Que les esclaves que vous possédez vous demandent permission avant d'entrer, ainsi que ceux des vôtres qui n'ont pas encore atteint la puberté, à trois moments: avant la Salât de l'aube, à midi quand vous enlevez vos vêtements, ainsi qu'après la Salât de la nuit; trois occasions de vous dévêtir. En dehors de ces moments, nul reproche ni à vous ni à eux d'aller et venir, les uns chez les autres. C'est ainsi qu'Allah vous expose clairement Ses versets, et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

O ye who believe! let those whom your right hands possess, and the (children) among you who have not come of age ask your permission (before they come to your presence), on three occasions: before morning prayer; the while ye doff your clothes for the noonday heat; and after the late-night prayer: these are your three times of undress: outside those times it is not wrong for you or for them to move about attending to each other: Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

وَإِذَا بَلَغَ الْأَطْفَٰلُ مِنكُمُ الْحُلُمَ فَلْيَسْتَـْٔذِنُوا۟ كَمَا اسْتَـْٔذَنَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ[59]

Waitha balagha alatfalu minkumu alhuluma falyastathinoo kama istathana allatheena min qablihim kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakum ayatihi waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun

Et quand les enfants parmi vous atteignent la puberté, qu'ils demandent permission avant d'entrer, comme font leurs aînés. C'est ainsi qu'Allah vous expose clairement Ses versets, et Allah est Omniscient et Sage.

But when the children among you come of age, let them (also) ask for permission, as do those senior to them (in age): Thus does Allah make clear His Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

وَالْقَوَٰعِدُ مِنَ النِّسَآءِ الَّٰتِى لَا يَرْجُونَ نِكَاحًا فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ أَن يَضَعْنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ غَيْرَ مُتَبَرِّجَٰتٍۭ بِزِينَةٍ ۖ وَأَن يَسْتَعْفِفْنَ خَيْرٌ لَّهُنَّ ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ[60]

WaalqawaAAidu mina alnnisai allatee la yarjoona nikahan falaysa AAalayhinna junahun an yadaAAna thiyabahunna ghayra mutabarrijatin bizeenatin waan yastaAAfifna khayrun lahunna waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun

Et quant aux femmes atteintes par la ménopause qui n'espèrent plus le mariage, nul reproche à elles d'enlever leurs vêtements de [sortie], sans cependant exhiber leurs atours et si elle cherchent la chasteté c'est mieux pour elles. Allah est Audient et Omniscient.

Such elderly women as are past the prospect of marriage,- there is no blame on them if they lay aside their (outer) garments, provided they make not a wanton display of their beauty: but it is best for them to be modest: and Allah is One Who sees and knows all things.

لَّيْسَ عَلَى الْأَعْمَىٰ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَن تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بُيُوتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ ءَابَآئِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ إِخْوَٰنِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أَخَوَٰتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أَعْمَٰمِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ عَمَّٰتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أَخْوَٰلِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ خَٰلَٰتِكُمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكْتُم مَّفَاتِحَهُۥٓ أَوْ صَدِيقِكُمْ ۚ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَأْكُلُوا۟ جَمِيعًا أَوْ أَشْتَاتًا ۚ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُم بُيُوتًا فَسَلِّمُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ تَحِيَّةً مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ مُبَٰرَكَةً طَيِّبَةً ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْءَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ[61]

Laysa AAala alaAAma harajun wala AAala alaAAraji harajun wala AAala almareedi harajun wala AAala anfusikum an takuloo min buyootikum aw buyooti abaikum aw buyooti ommahatikum aw buyooti ikhwanikum aw buyooti akhawatikum aw buyooti aAAmamikum aw buyooti AAammatikum aw buyooti akhwalikum aw buyooti khalatikum aw ma malaktum mafatihahu aw sadeeqikum laysa AAalaykum junahun an takuloo jameeAAan aw ashtatan faitha dakhaltum buyootan fasallimoo AAala anfusikum tahiyyatan min AAindi Allahi mubarakatan tayyibatan kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati laAAallakum taAAqiloona

Il n'y a pas d'empêchement à l'aveugle, au boiteux, au malade, ainsi qu'à vous-mêmes de manger dans vos maisons, ou dans les maisons de vos pères, ou dans celles de vos mères, ou de vos frères, ou de vos sœurs, ou de vos oncles paternels, ou de vos tantes paternelles ou de vos oncles maternels, ou de vos tantes maternelles, ou dans celles dont vous possédez les clefs, ou chez vos amis. Nul empêchement à vous, non plus, de manger ensemble, ou séparément. Quand donc vous entrez dans des maisons, adressez-vous mutuellement des salutations venant d'Allah, bénies et agréables. C'est ainsi qu'Allah vous expose Ses versets, afin que vous compreniez.

It is no fault in the blind nor in one born lame, nor in one afflicted with illness, nor in yourselves, that ye should eat in your own houses, or those of your fathers, or your mothers, or your brothers, or your sisters, or your father's brothers or your father's sisters, or your mother's brothers, or your mother's sisters, or in houses of which the keys are in your possession, or in the house of a sincere friend of yours: there is no blame on you, whether ye eat in company or separately. But if ye enter houses, salute each other - a greeting of blessing and purity as from Allah. Thus does Allah make clear the signs to you: that ye may understand.

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَإِذَا كَانُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ جَامِعٍ لَّمْ يَذْهَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَسْتَـْٔذِنُوهُ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَـْٔذِنُونَكَ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۚ فَإِذَا اسْتَـْٔذَنُوكَ لِبَعْضِ شَأْنِهِمْ فَأْذَن لِّمَن شِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمُ اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ[62]

Innama almuminoona allatheena amanoo biAllahi warasoolihi waitha kanoo maAAahu AAala amrin jamiAAin lam yathhaboo hatta yastathinoohu inna allatheena yastathinoonaka olaika allatheena yuminoona biAllahi warasoolihi faitha istathanooka libaAAdi shanihim fathan liman shita minhum waistaghfir lahumu Allaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

Les vrais croyants sont ceux qui croient en Allah et en Son messager, et qui, lorsqu'ils sont en sa compagnie pour une affaire d'intérêt général, ne s'en vont pas avant de lui avoir demandé la permission. Ceux qui te demandent cette permission sont ceux qui croient en Allah et en Son messager. Si donc ils te demandent la permission pour une affaire personnelle, donne-la à qui tu veux d'entre eux; et implore le pardon d'Allah pour eux, car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.

Only those are believers, who believe in Allah and His Messenger: when they are with him on a matter requiring collective action, they do not depart until they have asked for his leave; those who ask for thy leave are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger; so when they ask for thy leave, for some business of theirs, give leave to those of them whom thou wilt, and ask Allah for their forgiveness: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

لَّا تَجْعَلُوا۟ دُعَآءَ الرَّسُولِ بَيْنَكُمْ كَدُعَآءِ بَعْضِكُم بَعْضًا ۚ قَدْ يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَتَسَلَّلُونَ مِنكُمْ لِوَاذًا ۚ فَلْيَحْذَرِ الَّذِينَ يُخَالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِۦٓ أَن تُصِيبَهُمْ فِتْنَةٌ أَوْ يُصِيبَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ[63]

La tajAAaloo duAAaa alrrasooli baynakum kaduAAai baAAdikum baAAdan qad yaAAlamu Allahu allatheena yatasallaloona minkum liwathan falyahthari allatheena yukhalifoona AAan amrihi an tuseebahum fitnatun aw yuseebahum AAathabun aleemun

Ne considérez pas l'appel du messager comme un appel que vous vous adresseriez les uns aux autres. Allah connaît certes ceux des vôtres qui s'en vont secrètement en s'entrecachant. Que ceux, donc, qui s'opposent à son commandement prennent garde qu'une épreuve ne les atteigne, ou que ne les atteigne un châtiment douloureux.

Deem not the summons of the Messenger among yourselves like the summons of one of you to another: Allah doth know those of you who slip away under shelter of some excuse: then let those beware who withstand the Messenger's order, lest some trial befall them, or a grievous penalty be inflicted on them.

أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ قَدْ يَعْلَمُ مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَيَوْمَ يُرْجَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ[64]

Ala inna lillahi ma fee alssamawati waalardi qad yaAAlamu ma antum AAalayhi wayawma yurjaAAoona ilayhi fayunabbiohum bima AAamiloo waAllahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun

C'est à Allah, vraiment, qu'appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. Il sait parfaitement l'état dans lequel vous êtes, et le Jour où les hommes seront ramenés vers Lui, Il les informera alors de ce qu'ils œuvraient. Allah est Omniscient.

Be quite sure that to Allah doth belong whatever is in the heavens and on earth. Well doth He know what ye are intent upon: and one day they will be brought back to Him, and He will tell them the truth of what they did: for Allah doth know all things.
