بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ طسٓمٓ[1]

Taseenmeem

T'â, Sîn, Mim.

Ta. Sin. Mim.

تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ الْكِتَٰبِ الْمُبِينِ[2]

Tilka ayatu alkitabi almubeeni

Voici les versets du Livre explicite.

These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.

لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ[3]

LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka alla yakoonoo mumineena

Il se peut que tu te consumes de chagrin parce qu'ils ne sont pas croyants!

It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.

إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ[4]

In nasha nunazzil AAalayhim mina alssamai ayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum laha khadiAAeena

Si Nous voulions, Nous ferions descendre du ciel sur eux un prodige devant lequel leurs nuques resteront courbées.

If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ[5]

Wama yateehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo AAanhu muAArideena

Aucun nouveau rappel ne leur vient du Tout Miséricordieux sans qu'ils ne l'esquivent.

But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ[6]

Faqad kaththaboo fasayateehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

Et ils ont traité de mensonge [tout ce qui leur vient du Seigneur]. Il leur viendra bientôt des nouvelles de ce dont ils se raillent.

They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ[7]

Awalam yaraw ila alardi kam anbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareemin

N'ont-ils pas observé la terre, combien Nous y avons fait pousser de couples généreux de toutes sortes?

Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[8]

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Voilà bien là une preuve! Et la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[9]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et ton Seigneur est en vérité Lui le Tout Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[10]

Waith nada rabbuka moosa ani iti alqawma alththalimeena

Et lorsque ton Seigneur appela Moïse: «Rends-toi auprès du peuple injuste,

Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-

قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ[11]

Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoona

[auprès du] peuple de Pharaon» ne craindront-ils pas (Allah)?

"The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ[12]

Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni

Il dit: «Seigneur, je crains qu'ils ne me traitent de menteur;

He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:

وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَ[13]

Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona

que ma poitrine ne se serre, et que ma langue ne soit embarrassée: Mande donc Aaron.

"My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.

وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ[14]

Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni

Ils ont un crime à me reprocher; je crains donc qu'ils ne me tuent».

"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ[15]

Qala kalla faithhaba biayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona

Mais [Allah lui] dit: «Jamais! Allez tous deux avec Nos prodiges, Nous resterons avec vous et Nous écouterons.

Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).

فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[16]

Fatiya firAAawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena

Rendez-vous donc tous deux auprès de Pharaon, puis dites: «Nous sommes les messagers du Seigneur de l'univers,

"So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;

أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ[17]

An arsil maAAana banee israeela

pour que tu renvoies les Enfants d'Israël avec nous».

"'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"

قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ[18]

Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena

«Ne t'avons-nous pas, dit Pharaon, élevé chez nous tout enfant? Et n'as-tu pas demeuré parmi nous des années de ta vie?

(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?

وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَٰفِرِينَ[19]

WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAalta waanta mina alkafireena

Puis tu as commis le méfait que tu as fait, en dépit de toute reconnaissance».

"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"

قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ الضَّآلِّينَ[20]

Qala faAAaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena

«Je l'ai fait, dit Moïse, alors que j'étais encore du nombre des égarés.

Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[21]

Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena

Je me suis donc enfui de vous quand j'ai eu peur de vous: puis, mon Seigneur m'a donné la sagesse et m'a désigné parmi Ses messagers.

"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ[22]

Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayya an AAabbadta banee israeela

Est-ce là un bienfait de ta part [que tu me rappelles] avec reproche, alors que tu as asservi les Enfants d'Israël?»

"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[23]

Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena

«Et qu'est-ce que le Seigneur de l'univers?» dit Pharaon.

Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"

قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ[24]

Qala rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena

«Le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre et de ce qui existe entre eux, dit [Moïse], si seulement vous pouviez en être convaincus!»

(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."

قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ[25]

Qala liman hawlahu ala tastamiAAoona

[Pharaon] dit à ceux qui l'entouraient: «N'entendez-vous pas?

(Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"

قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[26]

Qala rabbukum warabbu abaikumu alawwaleena

[Moïse] continue: «... Votre Seigneur, et le Seigneur de vos plus anciens ancêtres».

(Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"

قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ[27]

Qala inna rasoolakumu allathee orsila ilaykum lamajnoonun

«Vraiment, dit [Pharaon], votre messager qui vous a été envoyé, est un fou».

(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"

قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ[28]

Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona

[Moïse] ajouta: «... Le Seigneur du Levant et du Couchant et de ce qui est entre les deux; si seulement vous compreniez!»

(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"

قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ[29]

Qala laini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena

«Si tu adoptes, dit [Pharaon], une autre divinité que moi, je te mettrai parmi les prisonniers».

(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ[30]

Qala awalaw jituka bishayin mubeenin

«Et même si je t'apportais, dit [Moïse], une chose (une preuve) évidente?

(Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"

قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّٰدِقِينَ[31]

Qala fati bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena

«Apporte-la, dit [Pharaon], si tu es du nombre des véridiques».

(Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"

فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ[32]

Faalqa AAasahu faitha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun

[Moïse] jeta donc son bâton et le voilà devenu un serpent manifeste.

So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ[33]

WanazaAAa yadahu faitha hiya baydao lilnnathireena

Et il tira sa main et voilà qu'elle était blanche (étincelante) à ceux qui regardaient.

And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!

قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ[34]

Qala lilmalai hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun

[Pharaon] dit aux notables autour de lui: «Voilà en vérité un magicien savant.

(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ[35]

Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroona

Il veut par sa magie vous expulser de votre terre. Que commandez-vous?»

"His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?"

قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِى الْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ[36]

Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibAAath fee almadaini hashireena

Ils dirent: «Remets-les à plus tard, [lui] et son frère, et envoie des gens dans les villes, pour rassembler,

They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect-

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ[37]

Yatooka bikulli sahharin AAaleemin

et t'amener tout grand magicien savant».

"And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed."

فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ[38]

FajumiAAa alssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maAAloomin

Les magiciens furent donc réunis en rendez-vous au jour convenu.

So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known,

وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ[39]

Waqeela lilnnasi hal antum mujtamiAAoona

Et il fut dit aux gens: «Est-ce que vous allez vous réunir,

And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?-

لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ الْغَٰلِبِينَ[40]

LaAAallana nattabiAAu alssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeena

afin que nous suivions les magiciens, si ce sont eux les vainqueurs?»

"That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَٰلِبِينَ[41]

Falamma jaa alssaharatu qaloo lifirAAawna ainna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena

Puis, lorsque les magiciens arrivèrent, ils dirent à Pharaon: «Y aura-t-il vraiment une récompense pour nous, si nous sommes les vainqueurs?»

So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win?

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ[42]

Qala naAAam wainnakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeena

Il dit: «Oui, bien sûr, vous serez alors parmi mes proches!»

He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)."

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ[43]

Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoona

Moïse leur dit: «Jetez ce que vous avez à jeter».

Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"

فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَٰلِبُونَ[44]

Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahum waqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnu alghaliboona

Ils jetèrent donc leurs cordes et leurs bâtons et dirent: «Par la puissance de Pharaon!... C'est nous qui serons les vainqueurs».

So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"

فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ[45]

Faalqa moosa AAasahu faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona

Puis Moïse jeta son bâton, et voilà qu'il happait ce qu'ils avaient fabriqué.

Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!

فَأُلْقِىَ السَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ[46]

Faolqiya alssaharatu sajideena

Alors les magiciens tombèrent prosternés,

Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,

قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[47]

Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena

disant: «Nous croyons au Seigneur de l'univers,

Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,

رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ[48]

Rabbi moosa waharoona

Le Seigneur de Moïse et d'Aaron».

"The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ[49]

Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeena

[Pharaon] dit: «Avez-vous cru en lui avant que je ne vous le permette? En vérité, c'est lui votre chef, qui vous a enseigné la magie! Eh bien, vous saurez bientôt! Je vous couperai, sûrement, mains et jambes opposées, et vous crucifierai tous».

Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"

قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ[50]

Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona

Ils disent: «Il n'y a pas de mal! Car c'est vers notre Seigneur que nous retournerons.

They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!

إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[51]

Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineena

Nous convoitons que notre Seigneur nous pardonne nos fautes pour avoir été les premiers à croire».

"Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ[52]

Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoona

Et Nous révélâmes à Moïse [ceci]: «Pars de nuit avec Mes serviteurs, car vous serez poursuivis».

By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued."

فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى الْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ[53]

Faarsala firAAawnu fee almadaini hashireena

Puis, Pharaon envoya des rassembleurs [dire] dans les villes:

Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,

إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ[54]

Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona

«Ce sont, en fait, une bande peu nombreuse,

(Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ[55]

Wainnahum lana laghaithoona

mais ils nous irritent,

"And they are raging furiously against us;

وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَٰذِرُونَ[56]

Wainna lajameeAAun hathiroona

tandis que nous sommes tous vigilants».

"But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."

فَأَخْرَجْنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ[57]

Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waAAuyoonin

Ainsi, Nous les fîmes donc sortir des jardins, des sources,

So We expelled them from gardens, springs,

وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ[58]

Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin

des trésors et d'un lieu de séjour agréable.

Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;

كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ[59]

Kathalika waawrathnaha banee israeela

Il en fut ainsi! Et Nous les donnâmes en héritage aux enfants d'Israël.

Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.

فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ[60]

FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeena

Au lever du soleil, ils les poursuivirent.

So they pursued them at sunrise.

فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ[61]

Falamma taraa aljamAAani qala ashabu moosa inna lamudrakoona

Puis, quand les deux partis se virent, les compagnons de Moïse dirent: «Nous allons être rejoints».

And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ[62]

Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbee sayahdeeni

Il dit: «Jamais, car j'ai avec moi mon Seigneur qui va me guider».

(Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ[63]

Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi

Alors Nous révélâmes à Moïse: «Frappe la mer de ton bâton». Elle se fendit alors, et chaque versant fut comme une énorme montagne.

Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain.

وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْءَاخَرِينَ[64]

Waazlafna thamma alakhareena

Nous fîmes approcher les autres [Pharaon et son peuple].

And We made the other party approach thither.

وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ[65]

Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahu ajmaAAeena

Et Nous sauvâmes Moïse et tous ceux qui étaient avec lui;

We delivered Moses and all who were with him;

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْءَاخَرِينَ[66]

Thumma aghraqna alakhareena

ensuite Nous noyâmes les autres.

But We drowned the others.

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[67]

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Voilà bien là un prodige, mais la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[68]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et ton Seigneur, c'est en vérité Lui le Tout Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ[69]

Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheema

Et récite-leur la nouvelle d'Abraham:

And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story.

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ[70]

Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi ma taAAbudoona

Quand il dit à son père et à son peuple: «Qu'adorez-vous?»

Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?"

قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ[71]

Qaloo naAAbudu asnaman fanathallu laha AAakifeena

Ils dirent: «Nous adorons des idoles et nous leurs restons attachés».

They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them."

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ[72]

Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ith tadAAoona

Il dit: «Vous entendent-elles lorsque vous [les] appelez?

He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"

أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ[73]

Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroona

ou vous profitent-elles? ou vous nuisent-elles?»

"Or do you good or harm?"

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ[74]

Qaloo bal wajadna abaana kathalika yafAAaloona

Ils dirent: «Non! mais nous avons trouvé nos ancêtres agissant ainsi».

They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."

قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ[75]

Qala afaraaytum ma kuntum taAAbudoona

Il dit: «Que dites-vous de ce que vous adoriez...?

He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,-

أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ[76]

Antum waabaokumu alaqdamoona

Vous et vos vieux ancêtres?

"Ye and your fathers before you?-

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[77]

Fainnahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabba alAAalameena

Ils sont tous pour moi des ennemis sauf le Seigneur de l'univers,

"For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds;

الَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ[78]

Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeeni

qui m'a créé, et c'est Lui qui me guide;

"Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;

وَالَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ[79]

Waallathee huwa yutAAimunee wayasqeeni

et c'est Lui qui me nourrit et me donne à boire;

"Who gives me food and drink,

وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ[80]

Waitha maridtu fahuwa yashfeeni

et quand je suis malade, c'est Lui qui me guérit,

"And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me;

وَالَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ[81]

Waallathee yumeetunee thumma yuhyeeni

et qui me fera mourir, puis me redonnera la vie,

"Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again);

وَالَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ الدِّينِ[82]

Waallathee atmaAAu an yaghfira lee khateeatee yawma alddeeni

et c'est de Lui que je convoite le pardon de mes fautes le Jour de la Rétribution.

"And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِالصَّٰلِحِينَ[83]

Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena

Seigneur, accorde-moi sagesse (et savoir) et fais-moi rejoindre les gens de bien;

"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;

وَاجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى الْءَاخِرِينَ[84]

WaijAAal lee lisana sidqin fee alakhireena

fais que j'aie une mention honorable sur les langues de la postérité;

"Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations);

وَاجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ[85]

WaijAAalnee min warathati jannati alnnaAAeemi

et fais de moi l'un des héritiers du Jardin des délices.

"Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss;

وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّآلِّينَ[86]

Waighfir liabee innahu kana mina alddalleena

et pardonne à mon père: car il a été du nombre des égarés;

"Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray;

وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ[87]

Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoona

et ne me couvre pas d'ignominie, le jour où l'on sera ressuscité,

"And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;-

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ[88]

Yawma la yanfaAAu malun wala banoona

le jour où ni les biens, ni les enfants ne seront d'aucune utilité,

"The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ[89]

Illa man ata Allaha biqalbin saleemin

sauf celui qui vient à Allah avec un cœur sain».

"But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart;

وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ[90]

Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeena

On rapprochera alors le Paradis pour les pieux,

"To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near,

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ[91]

Waburrizati aljaheemu lilghaweena

et l'on exposera aux errants la Fournaise,

"And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view;

وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ[92]

Waqeela lahum ayna ma kuntum taAAbudoona

et on leur dira: «Où sont ceux que vous adoriez,

"And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped-

مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ[93]

Min dooni Allahi hal yansuroonakum aw yantasiroona

en dehors d'Allah? vous secourent-ils? ou se secourent-ils eux-mêmes?»

"'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?'

فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُۥنَ[94]

Fakubkiboo feeha hum waalghawoona

Ils y seront donc jetés pêle-mêle, et les errants aussi,

"Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil,

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ[95]

Wajunoodu ibleesa ajmaAAoona

ainsi que toutes les légions de Iblis.

"And the whole hosts of Iblis together.

قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ[96]

Qaloo wahum feeha yakhtasimoona

Ils diront, tout en s'y querellant:

"They will say there in their mutual bickerings:

تَاللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ[97]

TaAllahi in kunna lafee dalalin mubeenin

«Par Allah! Nous étions certes dans un égarement évident,

"'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest,

إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[98]

Ith nusawweekum birabbi alAAalameena

quand nous faisions de vous les égaux du Seigneur de l'univers.

"'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds;

وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ[99]

Wama adallana illa almujrimoona

Ce ne sont que les criminels qui nous ont égarés.

"'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt.

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ[100]

Fama lana min shafiAAeena

Et nous n'avons pas d'intercesseurs,

"'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us),

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ[101]

Wala sadeeqin hameemin

ni d'ami chaleureux.

"'Nor a single friend to feel (for us).

فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[102]

Falaw anna lana karratan fanakoona mina almumineena

Si un retour nous était possible, alors nous serions parmi les croyants!»

"'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'"

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[103]

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Voilà bien là un signe; cependant, la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[104]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et ton Seigneur, c'est Lui vraiment le Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[105]

Kaththabat qawmu noohin almursaleena

Le peuple de Noé traita de menteurs les Messagers,

The people of Noah rejected the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[106]

Ith qala lahum akhoohum noohun ala tattaqoona

lorsque Noé, leur frère, (contribule) leur dit: «Ne craindrez-vous pas [Allah]?

Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ[107]

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

Je suis pour vous un messager digne de confiance.

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[108]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi.

"So fear Allah, and obey me.

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[109]

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

Et je ne vous demande pas de salaire pour cela; mon salaire n'incombe qu'au Seigneur de l'univers.

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds:

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[110]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc, et obéissez-moi».

"So fear Allah, and obey me."

۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ[111]

Qaloo anuminu laka waittabaAAaka alarthaloona

Ils dirent: «Croirons-nous en toi, alors que ce sont les plus vils qui te suivent.

They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?"

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[112]

Qala wama AAilmee bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

Il dit: «Je ne sais pas ce que ceux-là faisaient.

He said: "And what do I know as to what they do?

إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ[113]

In hisabuhum illa AAala rabbee law tashAAuroona

Leur compte n'incombe qu'à mon Seigneur. Si seulement vous êtes conscients.

"Their account is only with my Lord, if ye could (but) understand.

وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[114]

Wama ana bitaridi almumineena

Je ne suis pas celui qui repousse les croyants.

"I am not one to drive away those who believe.

إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ[115]

In ana illa natheerun mubeenun

Je ne suis qu'un avertisseur explicite».

"I am sent only to warn plainly in public."

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ[116]

Qaloo lain lam tantahi ya noohu latakoonanna mina almarjoomeena

Ils dirent: «Si tu ne cesses pas, Noé, tu seras certainement du nombre des lapidés!»

They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)."

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ[117]

Qala rabbi inna qawmee kaththabooni

Il dit: «O mon Seigneur, mon peuple me traite de menteur.

He said: "O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.

فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[118]

Faiftah baynee wabaynahum fathan wanajjinee waman maAAiya mina almumineena

Tranche donc clairement entre eux et moi; et sauve-moi ainsi que ceux des croyants qui sont avec moi».

"Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me."

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ[119]

Faanjaynahu waman maAAahu fee alfulki almashhooni

Nous le sauvâmes donc, de même que ceux qui étaient avec lui dans l'arche, pleinement chargée.

So We delivered him and those with him, in the Ark filled (with all creatures).

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ[120]

Thumma aghraqna baAAdu albaqeena

Et ensuite nous noyâmes le reste (les infidèles).

Thereafter We drowned those who remained behind.

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[121]

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Voilà bien là un signe. Cependant, la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[122]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et Ton Seigneur, c'est lui vraiment le Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[123]

Kaththabat AAadun almursaleena

Les 'Aad traitèrent de menteurs les Envoyés.

The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[124]

Ith qala lahum akhoohum hoodun ala tattaqoona

Et quand Hûd, leur frère (contribule), leur dit: «Ne craindrez-vous pas [Allah]?»

Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ[125]

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

Je suis pour vous un messager digne de confiance,

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[126]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi.

"So fear Allah and obey me.

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[127]

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

Et je ne vous demande pas de salaire pour cela; mon salaire n'incombe qu'au Seigneur de l'univers.

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ[128]

Atabnoona bikulli reeAAin ayatan taAAbathoona

Bâtissez-vous par frivolité sur chaque colline un monument?

"Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ[129]

Watattakhithoona masaniAAa laAAallakum takhludoona

Et édifiez-vous des châteaux comme si vous deviez demeurer éternellement?

"And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)?

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ[130]

Waitha batashtum batashtum jabbareena

Et quand vous sévissez contre quelqu'un, vous le faites impitoyablement.

"And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power?

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[131]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi.

"Now fear Allah, and obey me.

وَاتَّقُوا۟ الَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ[132]

Waittaqoo allathee amaddakum bima taAAlamoona

Craignez Celui qui vous a pourvus de [toutes les bonnes choses] que vous connaissez,

"Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know.

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ[133]

Amaddakum bianAAamin wabaneena

qui vous a pourvus de bestiaux et d'enfants,

"Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,-

وَجَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ[134]

Wajannatin waAAuyoonin

de jardins et de sources.

"And Gardens and Springs.

إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ[135]

Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

Je crains pour vous le châtiment d'un Jour terrible».

"Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day."

قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ الْوَٰعِظِينَ[136]

Qaloo sawaon AAalayna awaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheena

Ils dirent: «Que tu nous exhortes ou pas, cela nous est parfaitement égal!

They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers!

إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[137]

In hatha illa khuluqu alawwaleena

Ce ne sont là que des mours des anciens:

"This is no other than a customary device of the ancients,

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ[138]

Wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena

Nous ne serons nullement châtiés».

"And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!"

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[139]

Fakaththaboohu faahlaknahum inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Ils le traitèrent donc de menteur. Et nous les fîmes périr. Voilà bien là un signe! Cependant, la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[140]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et Ton Seigneur, c'est Lui vraiment le Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[141]

Kaththabat thamoodu almursaleena

Les Thamûd traitèrent de menteurs les Messagers.

The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[142]

Ith qala lahum akhoohum salihun ala tattaqoona

Quand Sâlih, leur frère (contribule) leur dit: «Ne craindrez-vous pas [Allah]?»

Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)?

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ[143]

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

Je suis pour vous un messager digne de confiance.

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[144]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi.

"So fear Allah, and obey me.

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[145]

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

Je ne vous demande pas de salaire pour cela, mon salaire n'incombe qu'au Seigneur de l'univers.

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ[146]

Atutrakoona fee ma hahuna amineena

Vous laissera-t-on en sécurité dans votre présente condition?

"Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here?-

فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ[147]

Fee jannatin waAAuyoonin

Au milieu de jardins, de sources,

"Gardens and Springs,

وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ[148]

WazurooAAin wanakhlin talAAuha hadeemun

de cultures et de palmiers aux fruits digestes?

"And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)?

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَٰرِهِينَ[149]

Watanhitoona mina aljibali buyootan fariheena

Creusez-vous habilement des maisons dans les montagnes?

"And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill.

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[150]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi.

"But fear Allah and obey me;

وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ[151]

Wala tuteeAAoo amra almusrifeena

N'obéissez pas à l'ordre des outranciers,

"And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,-

الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ[152]

Allatheena yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona

qui sèment le désordre sur la terre et n'améliorent rien».

"Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)."

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ[153]

Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena

Ils dirent: «Tu n'es qu'un ensorcelé.

They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّٰدِقِينَ[154]

Ma anta illa basharun mithluna fati biayatin in kunta mina alssadiqeena

Tu n'es qu'un homme comme nous. Apporte donc un prodige, si tu es du nombre des véridiques».

"Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!"

قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ[155]

Qala hathihi naqatun laha shirbun walakum shirbu yawmin maAAloomin

Il dit: «Voici une chamelle: à elle de boire un jour convenu, et à vous de boire un jour.

He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed.

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ[156]

Wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheemin

Et ne lui infligez aucun mal, sinon le châtiment d'un jour terrible vous saisira».

"Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you."

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَٰدِمِينَ[157]

FaAAaqarooha faasbahoo nadimeena

Mais ils la tuèrent. Eh bien, ils eurent à regretter!

But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets.

فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[158]

Faakhathahumu alAAathabu inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Le châtiment, en effet, les saisit. Voilà bien là un prodige. Cependant, la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[159]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et ton Seigneur, c'est en vérité Lui le Tout Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[160]

Kaththabat qawmu lootin almursaleena

Le peuple de Lot traita de menteurs les Messagers,

The people of Lut rejected the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[161]

Ith qala lahum akhoohum lootun ala tattaqoona

quand leur frère Lot leur dit: «Ne craindrez-vous pas [Allah]?

Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ[162]

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

Je suis pour vous un messager digne de confiance.

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[163]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi.

"So fear Allah and obey me.

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[164]

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

Je ne vous demande pas de salaire pour cela; mon salaire n'incombe qu'au Seigneur de l'univers.

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds.

أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[165]

Atatoona alththukrana mina alAAalameena

Accomplissez-vous l'acte charnel avec les mâles de ce monde?

"Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males,

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ[166]

Watatharoona ma khalaqa lakum rabbukum min azwajikum bal antum qawmun AAadoona

Et délaissez-vous les épouses que votre Seigneur a créées pour vous? Mais vous n'êtes que des gens transgresseurs».

"And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!"

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ[167]

Qaloo lain lam tantahi ya lootu latakoonanna mina almukhrajeena

Ils dirent: «Si tu ne cesses pas, Lot, tu seras certainement du nombre des expulsés».

They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!"

قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ الْقَالِينَ[168]

Qala innee liAAamalikum mina alqaleena

Il dit: «Je déteste vraiment ce que vous faites.

He said: "I do detest your doings."

رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ[169]

Rabbi najjinee waahlee mimma yaAAmaloona

Seigneur, sauve-moi ainsi que ma famille de ce qu'ils font».

"O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!"

فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ[170]

Fanajjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena

Nous le sauvâmes alors, lui et toute sa famille,

So We delivered him and his family,- all

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى الْغَٰبِرِينَ[171]

Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena

sauf une vieille qui fut parmi les exterminés.

Except an old woman who lingered behind.

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْءَاخَرِينَ[172]

Thumma dammarna alakhareena

Puis Nous détruisîmes les autres;

But the rest We destroyed utterly.

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنذَرِينَ[173]

Waamtarna AAalayhim mataran fasaa mataru almunthareena

et Nous fîmes pleuvoir sur eux une pluie (de pierres). Et quelle pluie fatale pour ceux qui sont avertis!

We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)!

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[174]

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Voilà bien là un prodige. Cependant, la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[175]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et ton Seigneur, c'est en vérité Lui le Tout Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[176]

Kaththaba ashabu alaykati almursaleena

Les gens d'Al-Ayka traitèrent de menteurs les Messagers.

The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[177]

Ith qala lahum shuAAaybun ala tattaqoona

Lorsque Chuayb leur dit: «Ne craindrez-vous pas [Allah]».

Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ[178]

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

Je suis pour vous un messager digne de confiance.

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

فَاتَّقُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ[179]

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

Craignez Allah donc et obéissez-moi,

"So fear Allah and obey me.

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[180]

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

et je ne vous demande pas de salaire pour cela; mon salaire n'incombe qu'au Seigneur de l'univers.

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

۞ أَوْفُوا۟ الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ[181]

Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo mina almukhsireena

Donnez la pleine mesure et n'en faites rien perdre [aux gens].

"Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud).

وَزِنُوا۟ بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ[182]

Wazinoo bialqistasi almustaqeemi

et pesez avec une balance exacte.

"And weigh with scales true and upright.

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ النَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ[183]

Wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

Ne donnez pas aux gens moins que leur dû; et ne commettez pas de désordre et de corruption sur terre.

"And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief.

وَاتَّقُوا۟ الَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ[184]

Waittaqoo allathee khalaqakum waaljibillata alawwaleena

Et craignez Celui qui vous a créés, vous et les anciennes générations».

"And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)"

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ[185]

Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena

Ils dirent: «Tu es certes du nombre des ensorcelés;

They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَٰذِبِينَ[186]

Wama anta illa basharun mithluna wain nathunnuka lamina alkathibeena

Tu n'es qu'un homme comme nous; et vraiment nous pensons que tu es du nombre des menteurs.

"Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّٰدِقِينَ[187]

Faasqit AAalayna kisafan mina alssamai in kunta mina alssadiqeena

Fais donc tomber sur nous des morceaux du ciel si tu es du nombre des véridiques!»

"Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!"

قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ[188]

Qala rabbee aAAlamu bima taAAmaloona

Il dit: «Mon Seigneur sait mieux ce que vous faites».

He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do."

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ[189]

Fakaththaboohu faakhathahum AAathabu yawmi alththullati innahu kana AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

Mais ils le traitèrent de menteur. Alors, le châtiment du jour de l'Ombre les saisit. Ce fut le châtiment d'un jour terrible.

But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day.

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ[190]

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Voilà bien là un prodige. Cependant, la plupart d'entre eux ne croient pas.

Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ[191]

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

Et ton Seigneur, c'est en vérité Lui le Tout Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[192]

Wainnahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameena

Ce (Coran) ci, c'est le Seigneur de l'univers qui l'a fait descendre,

Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds:

نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ[193]

Nazala bihi alrroohu alameenu

et l'Esprit fidèle est descendu avec cela

With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth-

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ[194]

AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireena

sur ton cœur, pour que tu sois du nombre des avertisseurs,

To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish.

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ[195]

Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeenin

en une langue arabe très claire.

In the perspicuous Arabic tongue.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ[196]

Wainnahu lafee zuburi alawwaleena

Et ceci était déjà mentionné dans les Ecrits des anciens (envoyés).

Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples.

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ[197]

Awalam yakun lahum ayatan an yaAAlamahu AAulamao banee israeela

N'est-ce pas pour eux un signe, que les savants des Enfants d'Israël le sachent?

Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ[198]

Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdi alaAAjameena

Si Nous l'avions fait descendre sur quelqu'un des non-Arabes,

Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs,

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ[199]

Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoo bihi mumineena

et que celui-ci le leur eut récité, ils n'y auraient pas cru.

And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ[200]

Kathalika salaknahu fee quloobi almujrimeena

Ainsi l'avons Nous fait pénétrer [le doute] dans les cœurs des criminels;

Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners.

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ[201]

La yuminoona bihi hatta yarawoo alAAathaba alaleema

mais ils n'y [le Coran] croiront pas avant de voir le châtiment douloureux,

They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty;

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ[202]

Fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

qui viendra sur eux soudain, sans qu'ils s'en rendent compte;

But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;

فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ[203]

Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoona

alors ils diront: «Est-ce qu'on va nous donner du répit?»

Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?"

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ[204]

AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona

Est-ce qu'ils cherchent à hâter Notre châtiment?

Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on?

أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَٰهُمْ سِنِينَ[205]

Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineena

Vois-tu si Nous leur permettions de jouir, des années durant,

Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years,

ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ[206]

Thumma jaahum ma kanoo yooAAadoona

et qu'ensuite leur arrive ce dont on les menaçait,

Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised!

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ[207]

Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yumattaAAoona

les jouissances qu'on leur a permises ne leur serviraient à rien.

It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)!

وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ[208]

Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa laha munthiroona

Et Nous ne faisons pas périr de cité avant qu'elle n'ait eu des avertisseurs,

Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners -

ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ[209]

Thikra wama kunna thalimeena

[à titre de] rappel, et Nous ne sommes pas injuste.

By way of reminder; and We never are unjust.

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَٰطِينُ[210]

Wama tanazzalat bihi alshshayateenu

Et ce ne sont point les diables qui sont descendus avec ceci (le Coran):

No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation):

وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ[211]

Wama yanbaghee lahum wama yastateeAAoona

cela ne leur convient pas; et ils n'auraient pu le faire.

It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it).

إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ[212]

Innahum AAani alssamAAi lamaAAzooloona

Car ils sont écartés de toute écoute (du message divin).

Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it.

فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ[213]

Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeena

N'invoque donc pas une autre divinité avec Allah, sinon tu seras du nombre des châtiés.

So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty.

وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ[214]

Waanthir AAasheerataka alaqrabeena

Et avertis les gens qui te sont les plus proches.

And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,

وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[215]

Waikhfid janahaka limani ittabaAAaka mina almumineena

Et abaisse ton aile [sois bienveillant] pour les croyants qui te suivent.

And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee.

فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ[216]

Fain AAasawka faqul innee bareeon mimma taAAmaloona

Mais s'ils te désobéissent, dis-leur: «Moi, je désavoue ce que vous faites».

Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!"

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ[217]

Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi alrraheemi

Et place ta confiance dans le Tout Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux,

And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,-

الَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ[218]

Allathee yaraka heena taqoomu

qui te voit quand tu te lèves,

Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer),

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى السَّٰجِدِينَ[219]

Wataqallubaka fee alssajideena

et (voit) tes gestes parmi ceux qui se prosternent.

And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves,

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ[220]

Innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

C'est Lui vraiment, l'Audient, l'Omniscient.

For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things.

هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَٰطِينُ[221]

Hal onabbiokum AAala man tanazzalu alshshayateenu

Vous apprendrai-Je sur qui les diables descendent?

Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend?

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ[222]

Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakin atheemin

Ils descendent sur tout calomniateur, pécheur.

They descend on every lying, wicked person,

يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَٰذِبُونَ[223]

Yulqoona alssamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboona

Ils tendent l'oreille... Cependant, la plupart d'entre eux sont menteurs.

(Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars.

وَالشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُۥنَ[224]

WaalshshuAAarao yattabiAAuhumu alghawoona

Et quant aux poètes, ce sont les égarés qui les suivent.

And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them:

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ[225]

Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadin yaheemoona

Ne vois-tu pas qu'ils divaguent dans chaque vallée,

Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?-

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ[226]

Waannahum yaqooloona ma la yafAAaloona

et qu'ils disent ce qu'ils ne font pas?

And that they say what they practise not?-

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ[227]

Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wathakaroo Allaha katheeran waintasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoo wasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayya munqalabin yanqaliboona

à part ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres, qui invoquent souvent le nom d'Allah et se défendent contre les torts qu'on leur fait. Les injustes verront bientôt le revirement qu'ils [éprouveront]!

Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!
