بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ الٓمٓ[1]

Aliflammeem

Alif, Lâm, Mîm.

A. L. M.

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوٓا۟ أَن يَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ[2]

Ahasiba alnnasu an yutrakoo an yaqooloo amanna wahum la yuftanoona

Est-ce que les gens pensent qu'on les laissera dire: «Nous croyons!» sans les éprouver?

Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested?

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَٰذِبِينَ[3]

Walaqad fatanna allatheena min qablihim falayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena sadaqoo walayaAAlamanna alkathibeena

Certes, Nous avons éprouvé ceux qui ont vécu avant eux; [Ainsi] Allah connaît ceux qui disent la vérité et ceux qui mentent.

We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.

أَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَسْبِقُونَا ۚ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ[4]

Am hasiba allatheena yaAAmaloona alssayyiati an yasbiqoona saa ma yahkumoona

Ou bien ceux qui commettent des méfaits, comptent-ils pouvoir Nous échapper? Comme leur jugement est mauvais!

Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment!

مَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ لِقَآءَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ لَءَاتٍ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ[5]

Man kana yarjoo liqaa Allahi fainna ajala Allahi laatin wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

Celui qui espère rencontrer Allah, le terme fixé par Allah va certainement venir. Et c'est Lui l'Audient, l'Omniscient.

For those whose hopes are in the meeting with Allah (in the Hereafter, let them strive); for the term (appointed) by Allah is surely coming and He hears and knows (all things).

وَمَن جَٰهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَٰهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِىٌّ عَنِ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[6]

Waman jahada fainnama yujahidu linafsihi inna Allaha laghaniyyun AAani alAAalameena

Et quiconque lutte, ne lutte que pour lui-même, car Allah peut Se passer de tout l'univers.

And if any strive (with might and main), they do so for their own souls: for Allah is free of all needs from all creation.

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَحْسَنَ الَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ[7]

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanukaffiranna AAanhum sayyiatihim walanajziyannahum ahsana allathee kanoo yaAAmaloona

Et quant à ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres, Nous leur effacerons leurs méfaits, et Nous les rétribuerons de la meilleure récompense pour ce qu'ils auront accompli.

Those who believe and work righteous deeds,- from them shall We blot out all evil (that may be) in them, and We shall reward them according to the best of their deeds.

وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حُسْنًا ۖ وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِى مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَآ ۚ إِلَىَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ[8]

Wawassayna alinsana biwalidayhi husnan wain jahadaka litushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhuma ilayya marjiAAukum faonabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona

Et Nous avons enjoint à l'homme de bien traiter ses père et mère, et «si ceux-ci te forcent à M'associer, ce dont tu n'as aucun savoir, alors ne leur obéis pas». Vers Moi est votre retour, et alors Je vous informerai de ce que vous faisiez.

We have enjoined on man kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Ye have (all) to return to me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that ye did.

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ فِى الصَّٰلِحِينَ[9]

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanudkhilannahum fee alssaliheena

Et quant à ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres, Nous les ferons certainement entrer parmi les gens de bien.

And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous.

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِاللَّهِ فَإِذَآ أُوذِىَ فِى اللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ النَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَئِن جَآءَ نَصْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَوَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِمَا فِى صُدُورِ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[10]

Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi faitha oothiya fee Allahi jaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahi walain jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna inna kunna maAAakum awalaysa Allahu biaAAlama bima fee sudoori alAAalameena

Parmi les gens il en est qui disent: «Nous croyons en Allah» puis, si on les fait souffrir pour la cause d'Allah, ils considèrent l'épreuve de la part des hommes comme un châtiment d'Allah. Or, s'il vient du secours de ton Seigneur, ils diront certes: «Nous étions avec vous!» Allah n'est-Il pas le meilleur à savoir ce qu'il y a dans les poitrines de tout le monde?

Then there are among men such as say, "We believe in Allah"; but when they suffer affliction in (the cause of) Allah, they treat men's oppression as if it were the Wrath of Allah! And if help comes (to thee) from thy Lord, they are sure to say, "We have (always) been with you!" Does not Allah know best all that is in the hearts of all creation?

وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْمُنَٰفِقِينَ[11]

WalayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena amanoo walayaAAlamanna almunafiqeena

Allah connaît parfaitement les croyants et connaît parfaitement les hypocrites.

And Allah most certainly knows those who believe, and as certainly those who are Hypocrites.

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ اتَّبِعُوا۟ سَبِيلَنَا وَلْنَحْمِلْ خَطَٰيَٰكُمْ وَمَا هُم بِحَٰمِلِينَ مِنْ خَطَٰيَٰهُم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ[12]

Waqala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo ittabiAAoo sabeelana walnahmil khatayakum wama hum bihamileena min khatayahum min shayin innahum lakathiboona

Et ceux qui ne croient pas disent à ceux qui croient; «Suivez notre sentier, et que nous supportions vos fautes». Mais ils ne supporteront rien de leurs fautes. En vérité ce sont des menteurs.

And the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Follow our path, and we will bear (the consequences) of your faults." Never in the least will they bear their faults: in fact they are liars!

وَلَيَحْمِلُنَّ أَثْقَالَهُمْ وَأَثْقَالًا مَّعَ أَثْقَالِهِمْ ۖ وَلَيُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ[13]

Walayahmilunna athqalahum waathqalan maAAa athqalihim walayusalunna yawma alqiyamati AAamma kanoo yaftaroona

Et très certainement, ils porteront leurs fardeaux et d'autres fardeaux en plus de leurs propres fardeaux. et ils seront interrogés, le Jour de la Résurrection, sur ce qu'ils inventaient.

They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ إِلَّا خَمْسِينَ عَامًا فَأَخَذَهُمُ الطُّوفَانُ وَهُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ[14]

Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi falabitha feehim alfa sanatin illa khamseena AAaman faakhathahumu alttoofanu wahum thalimoona

Et en effet, Nous avons envoyé Noé vers son peuple. Il demeura parmi eux mille ans moins cinquante années. Puis le déluge les emporta alors qu'ils étaient injustes.

We (once) sent Noah to his people, and he tarried among them a thousand years less fifty: but the Deluge overwhelmed them while they (persisted in) sin.

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَصْحَٰبَ السَّفِينَةِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ[15]

Faanjaynahu waashaba alssafeenati wajaAAalnaha ayatan lilAAalameena

Puis Nous le sauvâmes, lui et les gens de l'arche; et Nous en fîmes un avertissement pour l'univers.

But We saved him and the companions of the Ark, and We made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples!

وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ۖ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ[16]

Waibraheema ith qala liqawmihi oAAbudoo Allaha waittaqoohu thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona

Et Abraham, quand il dit à son peuple; «Adorez Allah et craignez-Le: cela vous est bien meilleur si vous saviez».

And (We also saved) Abraham: behold, he said to his people, "Serve Allah and fear Him: that will be best for you- If ye understand!

إِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَٰنًا وَتَخْلُقُونَ إِفْكًا ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لَكُمْ رِزْقًا فَابْتَغُوا۟ عِندَ اللَّهِ الرِّزْقَ وَاعْبُدُوهُ وَاشْكُرُوا۟ لَهُۥٓ ۖ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ[17]

Innama taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi awthanan watakhluqoona ifkan inna allatheena taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi la yamlikoona lakum rizqan faibtaghoo AAinda Allahi alrrizqa waoAAbudoohu waoshkuroo lahu ilayhi turjaAAoona

Vous n'adorez que des idoles, en dehors d'Allah, et vous forgez un mensonge. Ceux que vous adorez en dehors d'Allah ne possèdent aucun moyen pour vous procurer nourriture; recherchez votre subsistance auprès d'Allah. Adorez-Le et soyez-Lui reconnaissants. C'est à Lui que vous serez ramenés.

"For ye do worship idols besides Allah, and ye invent falsehood. The things that ye worship besides Allah have no power to give you sustenance: then seek ye sustenance from Allah, serve Him, and be grateful to Him: to Him will be your return.

وَإِن تُكَذِّبُوا۟ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أُمَمٌ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ ۖ وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلَّا الْبَلَٰغُ الْمُبِينُ[18]

Wain tukaththiboo faqad kaththaba omamun min qablikum wama AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu almubeenu

Et si vous criez au mensonge, d'autres nations avant vous, ont aussi traité (leurs prophètes) de menteurs. Au Messager, cependant, n'incombe que la transmission claire.

"And if ye reject (the Message), so did generations before you: and the duty of the messenger is only to preach publicly (and clearly)."

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ يُبْدِئُ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ[19]

Awalam yaraw kayfa yubdio Allahu alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu inna thalika AAala Allahi yaseerun

Ne voient-ils pas comment Allah commence la création puis la refait? Cela est facile pour Allah.

See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it: truly that is easy for Allah.

قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ بَدَأَ الْخَلْقَ ۚ ثُمَّ اللَّهُ يُنشِئُ النَّشْأَةَ الْءَاخِرَةَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ[20]

Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa badaa alkhalqa thumma Allahu yunshio alnnashata alakhirata inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Dis: «Parcourez la terre et voyez comment Il a commencé la création. Puis comment Allah crée la génération ultime. Car Allah est Omnipotent».

Say: "Travel through the earth and see how Allah did originate creation; so will Allah produce a later creation: for Allah has power over all things.

يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ[21]

YuAAaththibu man yashao wayarhamu man yashao wailayhi tuqlaboona

Il châtie qui Il veut et fait miséricorde à qui Il veut; et c'est vers Lui que vous serez ramenés.

"He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He pleases, and towards Him are ye turned.

وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى السَّمَآءِ ۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ[22]

Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee alardi wala fee alssamai wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin

Et vous ne pourrez vous opposer à Sa puissance ni sur terre, ni au ciel; et il n'y a pas pour vous, en dehors d'Allah, ni allié ni secoureur.

"Not on earth nor in heaven will ye be able (fleeing) to frustrate (his Plan), nor have ye, besides Allah, any protector or helper."

وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اللَّهِ وَلِقَآئِهِۦٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَئِسُوا۟ مِن رَّحْمَتِى وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ[23]

Waallatheena kafaroo biayati Allahi waliqaihi olaika yaisoo min rahmatee waolaika lahum AAathabun aleemun

Et ceux qui ne croient pas aux versets d'Allah et à Sa rencontre, désespèrent de Ma miséricorde. Et ceux-là auront un châtiment douloureux.

Those who reject the Signs of Allah and the Meeting with Him (in the Hereafter),- it is they who shall despair of My Mercy: it is they who will (suffer) a most grievous Penalty.

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ اقْتُلُوهُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَىٰهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ[24]

Fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo oqtuloohu aw harriqoohu faanjahu Allahu mina alnnari inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yuminoona

Son peuple ne fit d'autre réponse que: «tuez-le ou brûlez-le». Mais Allah le sauva du feu. C'est bien là des signes pour des gens qui croient.

So naught was the answer of (Abraham's) people except that they said: "Slay him or burn him." But Allah did save him from the Fire. Verily in this are Signs for people who believe.

وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا اتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَٰنًا مَّوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِى الْحَيَوٰةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُم بِبَعْضٍ وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُم بَعْضًا وَمَأْوَىٰكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ[25]

Waqala innama ittakhathtum min dooni Allahi awthanan mawaddata baynikum fee alhayati alddunya thumma yawma alqiyamati yakfuru baAAdukum bibaAAdin wayalAAanu baAAdukum baAAdan wamawakumu alnnaru wama lakum min nasireena

Et [Abraham] dit: «En effet, c'est pour cimenter des liens entre vous-mêmes dans la vie présente, que vous avez adopté des idoles, en dehors d'Allah. Ensuite, le Jour de la Résurrection, les uns rejetteront les autres, et les uns maudiront les autres, tandis que vous aurez le Feu pour refuge, n'aurez pas de protecteurs.

And he said: "For you, ye have taken (for worship) idols besides Allah, out of mutual love and regard between yourselves in this life; but on the Day of Judgment ye shall disown each other and curse each other: and your abode will be the Fire, and ye shall have none to help."

۞ فَـَٔامَنَ لَهُۥ لُوطٌ ۘ وَقَالَ إِنِّى مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ[26]

Faamana lahu lootun waqala innee muhajirun ila rabbee innahu huwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Lot crut en lui. Il dit: «Moi, j'émigre vers mon Seigneur, car c'est Lui le Tout Puissant, le Sage».

But Lut had faith in Him: He said: "I will leave home for the sake of my Lord: for He is Exalted in Might, and Wise."

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَٰبَ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ أَجْرَهُۥ فِى الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِى الْءَاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّٰلِحِينَ[27]

Wawahabna lahu ishaqa wayaAAqooba wajaAAalna fee thurriyyatihi alnnubuwwata waalkitaba waataynahu ajrahu fee alddunya wainnahu fee alakhirati lamina alssaliheena

Nous lui donnâmes Isaac et Jacob, et plaçâmes dans sa descendance la prophétie et le Livre. Nous lui accordâmes sa récompense ici-bas, tandis que dans l'au-delà, il sera parmi les gens de bien.

And We gave (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob, and ordained among his progeny Prophethood and Revelation, and We granted him his reward in this life; and he was in the Hereafter (of the company) of the Righteous.

وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الْفَٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِّنَ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[28]

Walootan ith qala liqawmihi innakum latatoona alfahishata ma sabaqakum biha min ahadin mina alAAalameena

Et Lot, quand il dit à son peuple: «Vraiment, vous commettez la turpitude où nul dans l'univers ne vous a précédés.

And (remember) Lut: behold, he said to his people: "Ye do commit lewdness, such as no people in Creation (ever) committed before you.

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ وَتَقْطَعُونَ السَّبِيلَ وَتَأْتُونَ فِى نَادِيكُمُ الْمُنكَرَ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابِ اللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّٰدِقِينَ[29]

Ainnakum latatoona alrrijala wataqtaAAoona alssabeela watatoona fee nadeekumu almunkara fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo itina biAAathabi Allahi in kunta mina alssadiqeena

Aurez-vous commerce charnel avec des mâles? Pratiquerez-vous le brigandage? Commettrez-vous le blâmable dans votre assemblée?» Mais son peuple ne fit d'autre réponse que: «Fais que le châtiment d'Allah nous vienne, si tu es du nombre des véridiques».

"Do ye indeed approach men, and cut off the highway?- and practise wickedness (even) in your councils?" But his people gave no answer but this: they said: "Bring us the Wrath of Allah if thou tellest the truth."

قَالَ رَبِّ انصُرْنِى عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْمُفْسِدِينَ[30]

Qala rabbi onsurnee AAala alqawmi almufsideena

Il dit: «Seigneur, donne-moi victoire sur ce peuple de corrupteurs!»

He said: "O my Lord! help Thou me against people who do mischief!"

وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِالْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُهْلِكُوٓا۟ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ ۖ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا۟ ظَٰلِمِينَ[31]

Walamma jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo inna muhlikoo ahli hathihi alqaryati inna ahlaha kanoo thalimeena

Et quand Nos Anges apportèrent à Abraham la bonne annonce, ils dirent: «Nous allons anéantir les habitants de cette cité car ses habitants sont injustes».

When Our Messengers came to Abraham with the good news, they said: "We are indeed going to destroy the people of this township: for truly they are (addicted to) crime."

قَالَ إِنَّ فِيهَا لُوطًا ۚ قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِيهَا ۖ لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَٰبِرِينَ[32]

Qala inna feeha lootan qaloo nahnu aAAlamu biman feeha lanunajjiyannahu waahlahu illa imraatahu kanat mina alghabireena

Il dit: «Mais Lot s'y trouve!» Ils dirent: «Nous savons parfaitement qui y habite: nous le sauverons certainement, lui et sa famille, excepté sa femme qui sera parmi ceux qui périront».

He said: "But there is Lut there." They said: "Well do we know who is there: we will certainly save him and his following,- except his wife: she is of those who lag behind!"

وَلَمَّآ أَن جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًا سِىٓءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ ۖ إِنَّا مُنَجُّوكَ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَكَ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَٰبِرِينَ[33]

Walamma an jaat rusuluna lootan seea bihim wadaqa bihim tharAAan waqaloo la takhaf wala tahzan inna munajjooka waahlaka illa imraataka kanat mina alghabireena

Et quand Nos Anges vinrent à Lot, il fut affligé pour eux, et se sentit incapable de les protéger. Ils lui dirent: «Ne crains rien et ne t'afflige pas... Nous te sauverons ainsi que ta famille, excepté ta femme qui sera parmi ceux qui périront.

And when Our Messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account, and felt himself powerless (to protect) them: but they said: "Fear thou not, nor grieve: we are (here) to save thee and thy following, except thy wife: she is of those who lag behind.

إِنَّا مُنزِلُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ رِجْزًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ[34]

Inna munziloona AAala ahli hathihi alqaryati rijzan mina alssamai bima kanoo yafsuqoona

Nous ferons tomber du ciel un châtiment sur les habitants de cette cité, pour leur perversité».

"For we are going to bring down on the people of this township a Punishment from heaven, because they have been wickedly rebellious."

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَا مِنْهَآ ءَايَةًۢ بَيِّنَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ[35]

Walaqad tarakna minha ayatan bayyinatan liqawmin yaAAqiloona

Et certainement, Nous avons laissé (des ruines de cette cité) un signe (d'avertissement) évident pour des gens qui comprennent.

And We have left thereof an evident Sign, for any people who (care to) understand.

وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا فَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَارْجُوا۟ الْيَوْمَ الْءَاخِرَ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ[36]

Waila madyana akhahum shuAAayban faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha waorjoo alyawma alakhira wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

De même, aux Madyan (Nous envoyâmes) leur frère Chuayb qui leur dit: «O mon peuple, adorez Allah et attendez-vous au Jour dernier, et ne semez pas la corruption sur terre».

To the Madyan (people) (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. Then he said: "O my people! serve Allah, and fear the Last Day: nor commit evil on the earth, with intent to do mischief."

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ فِى دَارِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَ[37]

Fakaththaboohu faakhathathumu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena

Mais ils le traitèrent de menteur. Le cataclysme les saisit, et au matin, ils gisaient sans vie dans leurs demeures.

But they rejected him: Then the mighty Blast seized them, and they lay prostrate in their homes by the morning.

وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَقَد تَّبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَٰكِنِهِمْ ۖ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ[38]

WaAAadan wathamooda waqad tabayyana lakum min masakinihim wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli wakanoo mustabsireena

De même (Nous anéantîmes) les 'Aad et les Thamûd. - Vous le voyez clairement à travers leurs habitations - Le Diable, cependant, leur avait embelli leurs actions, au point de les repousser loin du Sentier; ils étaient pourtant invités à être clairvoyants.

(Remember also) the 'Ad and the Thamud (people): clearly will appear to you from (the traces) of their buildings (their fate): the Evil One made their deeds alluring to them, and kept them back from the Path, though they were gifted with intelligence and skill.

وَقَٰرُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ سَٰبِقِينَ[39]

Waqaroona wafirAAawna wahamana walaqad jaahum moosa bialbayyinati faistakbaroo fee alardi wama kanoo sabiqeena

De même (Nous détruisîmes) Coré, Pharaon et Hâmân. Alors que Moïse leur apporta des preuves, ils s'enorgueillirent sur terre. Et ils n'ont pas pu [Nous] échapper.

(Remember also) Qarun, Pharaoh, and Haman: there came to them Moses with Clear Signs, but they behaved with insolence on the earth; yet they could not overreach (Us).

فَكُلًّا أَخَذْنَا بِذَنۢبِهِۦ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ حَاصِبًا وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَخَذَتْهُ الصَّيْحَةُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَغْرَقْنَا ۚ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ[40]

Fakullan akhathna bithanbihi faminhum man arsalna AAalayhi hasiban waminhum man akhathathu alssayhatu waminhum man khasafna bihi alarda waminhum man aghraqna wama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

Nous saisîmes donc chacun pour son péché: Il y en eut sur qui Nous envoyâmes un ouragan; il y en eut que le Cri saisit; il y en eut que Nous fîmes engloutir par la terre; et il y en eut que Nous noyâmes. Cependant, Allah n'est pas tel à leur faire du tort; mais ils ont fait du tort à eux-mêmes.

Each one of them We seized for his crime: of them, against some We sent a violent tornado (with showers of stones); some were caught by a (mighty) Blast; some We caused the earth to swallow up; and some We drowned (in the waters): It was not Allah Who injured (or oppressed) them:" They injured (and oppressed) their own souls.

مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ كَمَثَلِ الْعَنكَبُوتِ اتَّخَذَتْ بَيْتًا ۖ وَإِنَّ أَوْهَنَ الْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ الْعَنكَبُوتِ ۖ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ[41]

Mathalu allatheena ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa kamathali alAAankabooti ittakhathat baytan wainna awhana albuyooti labaytu alAAankabooti law kanoo yaAAlamoona

Ceux qui ont pris des protecteurs en dehors d'Allah ressemblent à l'araignée qui s'est donnée maison. Or la maison la plus fragile est celle de l'araignée. Si seulement ils savaient!

The parable of those who take protectors other than Allah is that of the spider, who builds (to itself) a house; but truly the flimsiest of houses is the spider's house;- if they but knew.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ[42]

Inna Allaha yaAAlamu ma yadAAoona min doonihi min shayin wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Allah connaît toute chose qu'ils invoquent en dehors de Lui. Et c'est Lui le Tout Puissant, le Sage.

Verily Allah doth know of (every thing) whatever that they call upon besides Him: and He is Exalted (in power), Wise.

وَتِلْكَ الْأَمْثَٰلُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ ۖ وَمَا يَعْقِلُهَآ إِلَّا الْعَٰلِمُونَ[43]

Watilka alamthalu nadribuha lilnnasi wama yaAAqiluha illa alAAalimoona

Telles sont les paraboles que Nous citons aux gens; cependant, seuls les savants les comprennent.

And such are the Parables We set forth for mankind, but only those understand them who have knowledge.

خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ[44]

Khalaqa Allahu alssamawati waalarda bialhaqqi inna fee thalika laayatan lilmumineena

C'est pour une juste raison qu'Allah a créé les cieux et la terre. Voilà bien là une preuve pour les croyants.

Allah created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): verily in that is a Sign for those who believe.

اتْلُ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَٰبِ وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَوٰةَ ۖ إِنَّ الصَّلَوٰةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَآءِ وَالْمُنكَرِ ۗ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ[45]

Otlu ma oohiya ilayka mina alkitabi waaqimi alssalata inna alssalata tanha AAani alfahshai waalmunkari walathikru Allahi akbaru waAllahu yaAAlamu ma tasnaAAoona

Récite ce qui t'est révélé du Livre et accomplis la Salât. En vérité la Salât préserve de la turpitude et du blâmable. Le rappel d'Allah est certes ce qu'il y a de plus grand. Et Allah sait ce que vous faites.

Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration to thee, and establish regular Prayer: for Prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds; and remembrance of Allah is the greatest (thing in life) without doubt. And Allah knows the (deeds) that ye do.

۞ وَلَا تُجَٰدِلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ الْكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِالَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُنَا وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ وَٰحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ[46]

Wala tujadiloo ahla alkitabi illa biallatee hiya ahsanu illa allatheena thalamoo minhum waqooloo amanna biallathee onzila ilayna waonzila ilaykum wailahuna wailahukum wahidun wanahnu lahu muslimoona

Et ne discutez que de la meilleure façon avec les gens du Livre, sauf ceux d'entre eux qui sont injustes. Et dites: «Nous croyons en ce qu'on a fait descendre vers nous et descendre vers vous, tandis que notre Dieu et votre Dieu est le même, et c'est à Lui que nous nous soumettons».

And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam)."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَٰبَ ۚ فَالَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ الْكِتَٰبَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَمِنْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَّا الْكَٰفِرُونَ[47]

Wakathalika anzalna ilayka alkitaba faallatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yuminoona bihi wamin haolai man yuminu bihi wama yajhadu biayatina illa alkafiroona

C'est ainsi que Nous t'avons fait descendre le Livre (le Coran). Ceux à qui Nous avons donné le Livre y croient. Et parmi ceux-ci, il en est qui y croient. Seuls les mécréants renient Nos versets.

And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein, as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs.

وَمَا كُنتَ تَتْلُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ مِن كِتَٰبٍ وَلَا تَخُطُّهُۥ بِيَمِينِكَ ۖ إِذًا لَّارْتَابَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ[48]

Wama kunta tatloo min qablihi min kitabin wala takhuttuhu biyameenika ithan lairtaba almubtiloona

Et avant cela, tu ne récitais aucun livre et tu n'en écrivais aucun de ta main droite. Sinon, ceux qui nient la vérité auraient eu des doutes.

And thou wast not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor art thou (able) to transcribe it with thy right hand: In that case, indeed, would the talkers of vanities have doubted.

بَلْ هُوَ ءَايَٰتٌۢ بَيِّنَٰتٌ فِى صُدُورِ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ الْعِلْمَ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَّا الظَّٰلِمُونَ[49]

Bal huwa ayatun bayyinatun fee sudoori allatheena ootoo alAAilma wama yajhadu biayatina illa alththalimoona

Il consiste plutôt en des versets évidents, (préservés) dans les poitrines de ceux à qui le savoir a été donné. Et seuls les injustes renient Nos versets.

Nay, here are Signs self-evident in the hearts of those endowed with knowledge: and none but the unjust reject Our Signs.

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا الْءَايَٰتُ عِندَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ[50]

Waqaloo lawla onzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul innama alayatu AAinda Allahi wainnama ana natheerun mubeenun

Et ils dirent: «Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas fait descendre sur lui des prodiges de la part de son Seigneur?» Dis: «Les prodiges sont auprès d'Allah. Moi, je ne suis qu'un avertisseur bien clair».

Ye they say: "Why are not Signs sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "The signs are indeed with Allah: and I am indeed a clear Warner."

أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَٰبَ يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِكْرَىٰ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ[51]

Awalam yakfihim anna anzalna AAalayka alkitaba yutla AAalayhim inna fee thalika larahmatan wathikra liqawmin yuminoona

Ne leur suffit-il donc point que Nous ayons fait descendre sur toi le Livre et qu'il leur soit récité? Il y a assurément là une miséricorde et un rappel pour des gens qui croient.

And is it not enough for them that we have sent down to thee the Book which is rehearsed to them? Verily, in it is Mercy and a Reminder to those who believe.

قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيدًا ۖ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِالْبَٰطِلِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْخَٰسِرُونَ[52]

Qul kafa biAllahi baynee wabaynakum shaheedan yaAAlamu ma fee alssamawati waalardi waallatheena amanoo bialbatili wakafaroo biAllahi olaika humu alkhasiroona

Dis: «Allah suffit comme témoin entre moi et vous». Il sait ce qui est dans les cieux et la terre. Et quant à ceux qui croient au faux et ne croient pas en Allah, ceux-là seront les perdants.

Say: "Enough is Allah for a witness between me and you: He knows what is in the heavens and on earth. And it is those who believe in vanities and reject Allah, that will perish (in the end).

وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ ۚ وَلَوْلَآ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى لَّجَآءَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ[53]

WayastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi walawla ajalun musamman lajaahumu alAAathabu walayatiyannahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

Et ils te demandent de hâter [la venue] du châtiment. S'il n'y avait pas eu un terme fixé, le châtiment leur serait certes venu. Et assurément, il leur viendra soudain, sans qu'ils en aient conscience.

They ask thee to hasten on the Punishment (for them): had it not been for a term (of respite) appointed, the Punishment would certainly have come to them: and it will certainly reach them,- of a sudden, while they perceive not!

يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ بِالْكَٰفِرِينَ[54]

YastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi wainna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena

Ils te demandent de hâter [la venue] du châtiment, tandis que l'Enfer cerne les mécréants de toutes parts.

They ask thee to hasten on the Punishment: but, of a surety, Hell will encompass the Rejecters of Faith!-

يَوْمَ يَغْشَىٰهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ وَيَقُولُ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ[55]

Yawma yaghshahumu alAAathabu min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim wayaqoolu thooqoo ma kuntum taAAmaloona

Le jour où le châtiment les enveloppera d'en haut et sous leurs pieds. Il [leur] dira: «Goûtez à ce que vous faisiez!»

On the Day that the Punishment shall cover them from above them and from below them, and (a Voice) shall say: "Taste ye (the fruits) of your deeds!"

يَٰعِبَادِىَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ أَرْضِى وَٰسِعَةٌ فَإِيَّٰىَ فَاعْبُدُونِ[56]

Ya AAibadiya allatheena amanoo inna ardee wasiAAatun faiyyaya faoAAbudooni

O Mes serviteurs qui avaient cru! Ma terre est bien vaste. Adorez-Moi donc!

O My servants who believe! truly, spacious is My Earth: therefore serve ye Me - (and Me alone)!

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ[57]

Kullu nafsin thaiqatu almawti thumma ilayna turjaAAoona

Toute âme goûtera la mort. Ensuite c'est vers Nous que vous serez ramenés.

Every soul shall have a taste of death in the end to Us shall ye be brought back.

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُم مِّنَ الْجَنَّةِ غُرَفًا تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ نِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَٰمِلِينَ[58]

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanubawwiannahum mina aljannati ghurafan tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha niAAma ajru alAAamileena

Et quant à ceux qui croient et accomplissent de bonnes œuvres, Nous les installerons certes à l'étage dans le Paradis sous lequel coulent les ruisseaux, pour y demeurer éternellement. Quelle belle récompense que celle de ceux qui font le bien,

But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness - to them shall We give a Home in Heaven,- lofty mansions beneath which flow rivers,- to dwell therein for aye;- an excellent reward for those who do (good)!-

الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ[59]

Allatheena sabaroo waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona

qui endurent, et placent leur confiance en leur Seigneur!

Those who persevere in patience, and put their trust, in their Lord and Cherisher.

وَكَأَيِّن مِّن دَآبَّةٍ لَّا تَحْمِلُ رِزْقَهَا اللَّهُ يَرْزُقُهَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ[60]

Wakaayyin min dabbatin la tahmilu rizqaha Allahu yarzuquha waiyyakum wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

Que de bêtes ne se chargent point de leur propre nourriture! C'est Allah qui les nourrit ainsi que vous. Et c'est Lui l'Audient, l'Omniscient.

How many are the creatures that carry not their own sustenance? It is Allah who feeds (both) them and you: for He hears and knows (all things).

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ[61]

Walain saaltahum man khalaqa alssamawati waalarda wasakhkhara alshshamsa waalqamara layaqoolunna Allahu faanna yufakoona

Si tu leur demandes: «Qui a créé les cieux et la terre, et assujetti le soleil et la lune?», ils diront très certainement: «Allah». Comment se fait-il qu'ensuite ils se détournent (du chemin droit)?

If indeed thou ask them who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon (to his Law), they will certainly reply, "Allah". How are they then deluded away (from the truth)?

اللَّهُ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ[62]

Allahu yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao min AAibadihi wayaqdiru lahu inna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Allah dispense largement ou restreint Ses dons à qui Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs. Certes, Allah est Omniscient.

Allah enlarges the sustenance (which He gives) to whichever of His servants He pleases; and He (similarly) grants by (strict) measure, (as He pleases): for Allah has full knowledge of all things.

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّن نَّزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ۚ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ[63]

Walain saaltahum man nazzala mina alssamai maan faahya bihi alarda min baAAdi mawtiha layaqoolunna Allahu quli alhamdu lillahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAqiloona

Si tu leur demandes: «Qui a fait descendre du ciel une eau avec laquelle Il fit revivre la terre après sa mort?», ils diront très certainement: «Allah». Dis: «Louange à Allah!» Mais la plupart d'entre eux ne raisonnent pas.

And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, "Allah!" Say, "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not.

وَمَا هَٰذِهِ الْحَيَوٰةُ الدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَهْوٌ وَلَعِبٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ الدَّارَ الْءَاخِرَةَ لَهِىَ الْحَيَوَانُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ[64]

Wama hathihi alhayatu alddunya illa lahwun walaAAibun wainna alddara alakhirata lahiya alhayawanu law kanoo yaAAlamoona

Cette vie d'ici-bas n'est qu'amusement et jeu. La Demeure de l'au-delà est assurément la vraie vie. S'ils savaient!

What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew.

فَإِذَا رَكِبُوا۟ فِى الْفُلْكِ دَعَوُا۟ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰهُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ إِذَا هُمْ يُشْرِكُونَ[65]

Faitha rakiboo fee alfulki daAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena falamma najjahum ila albarri itha hum yushrikoona

Quand ils montent en bateau, ils invoquent Allah Lui vouant exclusivement leur culte. Une fois qu'Il les a sauvés [des dangers de la mer en les ramenant] sur la terre ferme, voilà qu'ils [Lui] donnent des associés.

Now, if they embark on a boat, they call on Allah, making their devotion sincerely (and exclusively) to Him; but when He has delivered them safely to (dry) land, behold, they give a share (of their worship to others)!-

لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ[66]

Liyakfuroo bima ataynahum waliyatamattaAAoo fasawfa yaAAlamoona

Qu'ils nient ce que nous leur avons donné et jouissent des biens de ce monde! Ils sauront bientôt!

Disdaining ungratefully Our gifts, and giving themselves up to (worldly) enjoyment! But soon will they know.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَمًا ءَامِنًا وَيُتَخَطَّفُ النَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ ۚ أَفَبِالْبَٰطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ يَكْفُرُونَ[67]

Awalam yaraw anna jaAAalna haraman aminan wayutakhattafu alnnasu min hawlihim afabialbatili yuminoona wabiniAAmati Allahi yakfuroona

Ne voient-ils pas que vraiment Nous avons fait un sanctuaire sûr [la Mecque], alors que tout autour d'eux on enlève les gens? Croiront-ils donc au faux et nieront-ils les bienfaits d'Allah?

Do they not then see that We have made a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them? Then, do they believe in that which is vain, and reject the Grace of Allah?

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُۥٓ ۚ أَلَيْسَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ[68]

Waman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba bialhaqqi lamma jaahu alaysa fee jahannama mathwan lilkafireena

Et quel pire injuste que celui qui invente un mensonge contre Allah, ou qui dément la Vérité quand elle lui parvient? N'est-ce pas dans l'Enfer une demeure pour les mécréants?

And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah or rejects the Truth when it reaches him? Is there not a home in Hell for those who reject Faith?

وَالَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا۟ فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ[69]

Waallatheena jahadoo feena lanahdiyannahum subulana wainna Allaha lamaAAa almuhsineena

Et quant à ceux qui luttent pour Notre cause, Nous les guiderons certes sur Nos sentiers. Allah est en vérité avec les bienfaisants.

And those who strive in Our (cause),- We will certainly guide them to our Paths: For verily Allah is with those who do right.
