بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّا[1]
Waalssaffati saffan
Par ceux qui sont rangés en rangs.
By those who range themselves in ranks,
فَالزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا[2]
Faalzzajirati zajran
Par ceux qui poussent (les nuages) avec force.
And so are strong in repelling (evil),
فَالتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا[3]
Faalttaliyati thikran
Par ceux qui récitent, en rappel:
And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)!
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ[4]
Inna ilahakum lawahidun
«Votre Dieu est en vérité unique,
Verily, verily, your Allah is one!-
رَّبُّ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَٰرِقِ[5]
Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma warabbu almashariqi
le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre et de ce qui existe entre eux et Seigneur des Levants»
Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ[6]
Inna zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bizeenatin alkawakibi
Nous avons décoré le ciel le plus proche d'un décor: les étoiles,
We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,-
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ[7]
Wahifthan min kulli shaytanin maridin
afin de le protéger contre tout diable rebelle.
(For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ[8]
La yassammaAAoona ila almalai alaAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin
Ils ne pourront être à l'écoute des dignitaires suprêmes [les Anges]; car ils seront harcelés de tout côté,
(So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,
دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ[9]
Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibun
et refoulés. Et ils auront un châtiment perpétuel.
Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ[10]
Illa man khatifa alkhatfata faatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibun
Sauf celui qui saisit au vol quelque [information]; il est alors pourchassé par un météore transperçant.
Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ[11]
Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teenin lazibin
Demande-leur s'ils sont plus difficiles à créer que ceux que Nous avons créés? Car Nous les avons créés de boue collante!
Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ[12]
Bal AAajibta wayaskharoona
Mais tu t'étonnes, et ils se moquent!
Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ[13]
Waitha thukkiroo la yathkuroona
Et quand on le leur rappelle (le Coran), ils ne se rappellent pas;
And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,-
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ[14]
Waitha raaw ayatan yastaskhiroona
et quand ils voient un prodige, ils cherchent à s'en moquer,
And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ[15]
Waqaloo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun
et disent: «Ceci n'est que magie évidente.
And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery!
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ[16]
Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona
Lorsque nous serons morts et que nous deviendrons poussière et ossements, serons-nous ressuscités?
"What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ[17]
Awaabaona alawwaloona
ainsi que nos premiers ancêtres?»
"And also our fathers of old?"
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ[18]
Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroona
Dis: «Oui! et vous vous humilierez».
Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)."
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ[19]
Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun faitha hum yanthuroona
Il n'y aura qu'un seul Cri, et voilà qu'ils regarderont,
Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see!
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ[20]
Waqaloo ya waylana hatha yawmu alddeeni
et ils diront: «Malheur à nous! c'est le jour de la Rétribution».
They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!"
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ[21]
Hatha yawmu alfasli allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona
«C'est le jour du Jugement que vous traitiez de mensonge».
(A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"
۞ احْشُرُوا۟ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ[22]
Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoo waazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona
«Rassemblez les injustes et leurs épouses et tout ce qu'ils adoraient,
"Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ الْجَحِيمِ[23]
Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ila sirati aljaheemi
en dehors d'Allah. Puis conduisez-les au chemin de la Fournaise.
"Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire!
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ[24]
Waqifoohum innahum masooloona
Et arrêtez-les: car ils doivent être interrogés».
"But stop them, for they must be asked:
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ[25]
Ma lakum la tanasaroona
«Pourquoi ne vous portez-vous pas secours mutuellement?»
"'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'"
بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ[26]
Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoona
Mais ce jour-là, ils seront complètement soumis,
Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment);
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ[27]
Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona
et les uns se tourneront vers les autres s'interrogeant mutuellement;
And they will turn to one another, and question one another.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ[28]
Qaloo innakum kuntum tatoonana AAani alyameeni
Ils diront: «C'est vous qui nous forciez (à la mécréance)».
They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ[29]
Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mumineena
«C'est vous plutôt (diront les chefs) qui ne vouliez pas croire.
They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَٰغِينَ[30]
Wama kana lana AAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheena
Et nous n'avions aucun pouvoir sur vous. C'est vous plutôt qui étiez des gens transgresseurs.
"Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ[31]
Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbina inna lathaiqoona
La parole de notre Seigneur s'est donc réalisée contre nous; certes, nous allons goûter [au châtiment].
"So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins).
فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ[32]
Faaghwaynakum inna kunna ghaweena
Nous vous avons induits en erreur car, en vérité, nous étions égarés nous-mêmes».
"We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ[33]
Fainnahum yawmaithin fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona
Ce jour-là donc, ils seront tous associés dans le châtiment.
Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ[34]
Inna kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena
Ainsi traitons-Nous les criminels.
Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ[35]
Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona
Quand on leur disait: «Point de divinité à part Allah», ils se gonflaient d'orgueil,
For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ[36]
Wayaqooloona ainna latarikoo alihatina lishaAAirin majnoonin
et disaient: «Allons-nous abandonner nos divinités pour un poète fou?»
And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?"
بَلْ جَآءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[37]
Bal jaa bialhaqqi wasaddaqa almursaleena
Il est plutôt venu avec la Vérité et il a confirmé les messagers (précédents).
Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him).
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ[38]
Innakum lathaiqoo alAAathabi alaleemi
Vous allez certes, goûter au châtiment douloureux.
Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;-
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ[39]
Wama tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona
Et vous ne serez rétribués que selon ce que vous œuvriez,
But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;-
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ[40]
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
sauf les serviteurs élus d'Allah,
But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,-
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ[41]
Olaika lahum rizqun maAAloomun
Ceux-là auront une rétribution bien connue:
For them is a Sustenance determined,
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ[42]
Fawakihu wahum mukramoona
des fruits, et ils seront honorés,
Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity,
فِى جَنَّٰتِ النَّعِيمِ[43]
Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi
dans les Jardins du délice,
In Gardens of Felicity,
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ[44]
AAala sururin mutaqabileena
sur des lits, face à face.
Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity):
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ[45]
Yutafu AAalayhim bikasin min maAAeenin
On fera circuler entre eux une coupe d'eau remplie à une source
Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain,
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ[46]
Baydaa laththatin lilshsharibeena
blanche, savoureuse à boire,
Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof),
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ[47]
La feeha ghawlun wala hum AAanha yunzafoona
Elle n'offusquera point leur raison et ne les enivrera pas.
Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.
وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ[48]
WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi AAeenun
Et Ils auront auprès d'eux des belles aux grands yeux, au regard chaste,
And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty).
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ[49]
Kaannahunna baydun maknoonun
semblables au blanc bien préservé de l'œuf.
As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded.
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ[50]
Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona
Puis les uns se tourneront vers les autres s'interrogeant mutuellement.
Then they will turn to one another and question one another.
قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ[51]
Qala qailun minhum innee kana lee qareenun
L'un d'eux dira: «J'avais un compagnon
One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ[52]
Yaqoolu ainnaka lamina almusaddiqeena
qui disait: «Es-tu vraiment de ceux qui croient?
"Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)?
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ[53]
Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamadeenoona
Est-ce que quand nous mourrons et serons poussière et ossements, nous aurons à rendre des comptes?»
"'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ[54]
Qala hal antum muttaliAAoona
Il dira: «Est-ce que vous voudriez regarder d'en haut?»
(A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?"
فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ الْجَحِيمِ[55]
FaittalaAAa faraahu fee sawai aljaheemi
Alors il regardera d'en haut et il le verra en plein dans la Fournaise,
He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.
قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ[56]
Qala taAllahi in kidta laturdeeni
et dira: «Par Allah! Tu as bien failli causer ma perte!
He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ[57]
Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu mina almuhdareena
et sans le bienfait de mon Seigneur, j'aurais certainement été du nombre de ceux qu'on traîne [au supplice].
"Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)!
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ[58]
Afama nahnu bimayyiteena
N'est-il pas vrai que nous ne mourrons
"Is it (the case) that we shall not die,
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ[59]
Illa mawtatana aloola wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena
que de notre première mort et que nous ne serons pas châtiés?»
"Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?"
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ[60]
Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheemu
C'est cela, certes, le grand succès.
Verily this is the supreme achievement!
لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَٰمِلُونَ[61]
Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloona
C'est pour une chose pareille que doivent ouvrer ceux qui ouvrent.
For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive.
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ[62]
Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomi
Est-ce que ceci est meilleur comme séjour, ou l'arbre de Zaqqûm?
Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ[63]
Inna jaAAalnaha fitnatan lilththalimeena
Nous l'avons assigné en épreuve aux injustes.
For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers.
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ[64]
Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemi
C'est un arbre qui sort du fond de la Fournaise.
For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَٰطِينِ[65]
TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeni
Ses fruits sont comme des têtes de diables.
The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ[66]
Fainnahum laakiloona minha famalioona minha albutoona
Ils doivent certainement en manger et ils doivent s'en remplir le ventre.
Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ[67]
Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawban min hameemin
Ensuite ils auront par-dessus une mixture d'eau bouillante.
Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ[68]
Thumma inna marjiAAahum laila aljaheemi
Puis leur retour sera vers la Fournaise.
Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire.
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ[69]
Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleena
C'est qu'ils ont trouvé leurs ancêtres dans l'égarement,
Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ[70]
Fahum AAala atharihim yuhraAAoona
et les voilà courant sur leurs traces.
So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps!
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[71]
Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharu alawwaleena
En effet, avant eux, la plupart des anciens se sont égarés.
And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;-
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ[72]
Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireena
Et Nous avions certes envoyé parmi eux des avertisseurs.
But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;-
فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ الْمُنذَرِينَ[73]
Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almunthareena
Regarde donc ce qu'il est advenu de ceux qui ont été avertis!
Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),-
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ[74]
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Exception faite des élus, parmi les serviteurs d'Allah:
Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah.
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ[75]
Walaqad nadana noohun falaniAAma almujeeboona
Noé, en effet, fit appel à Nous qui sommes le Meilleur Répondeur (qui exauce les prières).
(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer.
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ[76]
Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi
Et Nous le sauvâmes, lui et sa famille, de la grande angoisse,
And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity,
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ[77]
WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humu albaqeena
et Nous fîmes de sa descendance les seuls survivants.
And made his progeny to endure (on this earth);
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى الْءَاخِرِينَ[78]
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
et Nous avons perpétué son souvenir dans la postérité,
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى الْعَٰلَمِينَ[79]
Salamun AAala noohin fee alAAalameena
Paix sur Noé dans tout l'univers!
"Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!"
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[80]
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants.
Thus indeed do we reward those who do right.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[81]
Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
Il était, certes, un de Nos serviteurs croyants.
For he was one of our believing Servants.
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْءَاخَرِينَ[82]
Thumma aghraqna alakhareena
Ensuite Nous noyâmes les autres.
Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood.
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ[83]
Wainna min sheeAAatihi laibraheema
Du nombre de ses coreligionnaires, certes, fut Abraham.
Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham.
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ[84]
Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbin saleemin
Quand il vint à son Seigneur avec un cœur sain.
Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart.
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ[85]
Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi matha taAAbudoona
Quand il dit à son père et à son peuple: «Qu'est-ce que vous adorez?»
Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship?
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ[86]
Aifkan alihatan doona Allahi tureedoona
Cherchez-vous dans votre égarement, des divinités en dehors d'Allah?
"Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire?
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[87]
Fama thannukum birabbi alAAalameena
Que pensez-vous du Seigneur de l'univers?»
"Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?"
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى النُّجُومِ[88]
Fanathara nathratan fee alnnujoomi
Puis, il jeta un regard attentif sur les étoiles,
Then did he cast a glance at the Stars.
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ[89]
Faqala innee saqeemun
et dit: «Je suis malade».
And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!"
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ[90]
Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireena
Ils lui tournèrent le dos et s'en allèrent.
So they turned away from him, and departed.
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ[91]
Faragha ila alihatihim faqala ala takuloona
Alors il se glissa vers leurs divinités et dit: «Ne mangez-vous pas?
Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?...
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ[92]
Ma lakum la tantiqoona
Qu'avez-vous à ne pas parler?»
"What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?"
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِالْيَمِينِ[93]
Faragha AAalayhim darban bialyameeni
Puis il se mit furtivement à les frapper de sa main droite.
Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand.
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ[94]
Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoona
Alors [les gens] vinrent à lui en courant.
Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him).
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ[95]
Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoona
Il [leur] dit: «Adorez-vous ce que vous-mêmes sculptez,
He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved?
وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ[96]
WaAllahu khalaqakum wama taAAmaloona
alors que c'est Allah qui vous a créés, vous et ce que vous fabriquez?»
"But Allah has created you and your handwork!"
قَالُوا۟ ابْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى الْجَحِيمِ[97]
Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyanan faalqoohu fee aljaheemi
Ils dirent: «Qu'on lui construise un four et qu'on le lance dans la fournaise!»
They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ[98]
Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu alasfaleena
Ils voulurent lui jouer un mauvais tour; mais ce sont eux que Nous mîmes à bas.
(This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ[99]
Waqala innee thahibun ila rabbee sayahdeeni
Et il dit: «Moi, je pars vers mon Seigneur et Il me guidera.
He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ الصَّٰلِحِينَ[100]
Rabbi hab lee mina alssaliheena
Seigneur, fais-moi don d'une [progéniture] d'entre les vertueux».
"O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!"
فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ[101]
Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleemin
Nous lui fîmes donc la bonne annonce d'un garçon (Ismaël) longanime.
So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى الْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّٰبِرِينَ[102]
Falamma balagha maAAahu alssaAAya qala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanami annee athbahuka faonthur matha tara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tumaru satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssabireena
Puis quand celui-ci fut en âge de l'accompagner, [Abraham] dit: «O mon fils, je me vois en songe en train de t'immoler. Vois donc ce que tu en penses». (Ismaël) dit: «O mon cher père, fais ce qui t'es commandé: tu me trouveras, s'il plaît à Allah, du nombre des endurants».
Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ[103]
Falamma aslama watallahu liljabeeni
Puis quand tous deux se furent soumis (à l'ordre d'Allah) et qu'il l'eut jeté sur le front,
So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ[104]
Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheemu
voilà que Nous l'appelâmes «Abraham!
We called out to him "O Abraham!
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[105]
Qad saddaqta alrruya inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
Tu as confirmé la vision. C'est ainsi que Nous récompensons les bienfaisants».
"Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ الْمُبِينُ[106]
Inna hatha lahuwa albalao almubeenu
C'était là certes, l'épreuve manifeste.
For this was obviously a trial-
وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ[107]
Wafadaynahu bithibhin AAatheemin
Et Nous le rançonnâmes d'une immolation généreuse.
And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى الْءَاخِرِينَ[108]
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
Et Nous perpétuâmes son renom dans la postérité:
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ[109]
Salamun AAala ibraheema
«Paix sur Abraham».
"Peace and salutation to Abraham!"
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[110]
Kathalika najzee almuhsineena
Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants;
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[111]
Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
car il était de Nos serviteurs croyants.
For he was one of our believing Servants.
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ الصَّٰلِحِينَ[112]
Wabashsharnahu biishaqa nabiyyan mina alssaliheena
Nous lui fîmes la bonne annonce d'Isaac comme prophète d'entre les gens vertueux.
And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous.
وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ[113]
Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAala ishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinun wathalimun linafsihi mubeenun
Et Nous le bénîmes ainsi que Isaac. Parmi leurs descendances il y a [l'homme] de bien et celui qui est manifestement injuste envers lui-même.
We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ[114]
Walaqad mananna AAala moosa waharoona
Et Nous accordâmes certes à Moïse et Aaron des faveurs,
Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron,
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ[115]
Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahuma mina alkarbi alAAatheemi
Et les sauvâmes ainsi que leur peuple, de la grande angoisse,
And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity;
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ الْغَٰلِبِينَ[116]
Wanasarnahum fakanoo humu alghalibeena
et les secourûmes, et ils furent eux les vainqueurs.
And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا الْكِتَٰبَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ[117]
Waataynahuma alkitaba almustabeena
Et Nous leur apportâmes le livre explicite
And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear;
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا الصِّرَٰطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ[118]
Wahadaynahuma alssirata almustaqeema
et les guidâmes vers le droit chemin.
And We guided them to the Straight Way.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى الْءَاخِرِينَ[119]
Watarakna AAalayhima fee alakhireena
Et Nous perpétuâmes leur renom dans la postérité:
And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ[120]
Salamun AAala moosa waharoona
«Paix sur Moïse et Aaron»
"Peace and salutation to Moses and Aaron!"
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[121]
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants;
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[122]
Innahuma min AAibadina almumineena
car ils étaient du nombre de Nos serviteurs croyants.
For they were two of our believing Servants.
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[123]
Wainna ilyasa lamina almursaleena
Elie était, certes, du nombre des Messagers.
So also was Elias among those sent (by Us).
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ[124]
Ith qala liqawmihi ala tattaqoona
Quand il dit à son peuple: «Ne craignez-vous pas [Allah]?»
Behold, he said to his people, "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَٰلِقِينَ[125]
AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsana alkhaliqeena
Invoquerez-vous Ball (une idole) et délaisserez-vous le Meilleur des créateurs,
"Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,-
اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ[126]
Allaha rabbakum warabba abaikumu alawwaleena
Allah, votre Seigneur et le Seigneur de vos plus anciens ancêtres?»
"Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?"
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ[127]
Fakaththaboohu fainnahum lamuhdaroona
Ils le traitèrent de menteur. Et bien, ils seront emmenées (au châtiment).
But they rejected him, and they will certainly be called up (for punishment),-
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ[128]
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Exception faite des serviteurs élus d'Allah.
Except the sincere and devoted Servants of Allah (among them).
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى الْءَاخِرِينَ[129]
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
Et Nous perpétuâmes son renom dans la postérité:
And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ[130]
Salamun AAala il yaseena
«Paix sur Elie et ses adeptes».
"Peace and salutation to such as Elias!"
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[131]
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants,
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ[132]
Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
car il était du nombre de Nos serviteurs croyants.
For he was one of our believing Servants.
وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[133]
Wainna lootan lamina almursaleena
Et Loût était, certes, du nombre des Messagers.
So also was Lut among those sent (by Us).
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ[134]
Ith najjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena
Quand Nous le sauvâmes, lui et sa famille, tout entière,
Behold, We delivered him and his adherents, all
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى الْغَٰبِرِينَ[135]
Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena
sauf une vieille femme qui devait disparaître avec les autres,
Except an old woman who was among those who lagged behind:
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْءَاخَرِينَ[136]
Thumma dammarna alakhareena
Et Nous détruisîmes les autres
Then We destroyed the rest.
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ[137]
Wainnakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheena
Et vous passez certainement auprès d'eux le matin
Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day-
وَبِالَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ[138]
Wabiallayli afala taAAqiloona
et la nuit. Ne raisonnez-vous donc pas?
And by night: will ye not understand?
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ[139]
Wainna yoonusa lamina almursaleena
Jonas était certes, du nombre des Messagers.
So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us).
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ[140]
Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhooni
Quand il s'enfuit vers le bateau comble,
When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden,
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ[141]
Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeena
Il prit part au tirage au sort qui le désigna pour être jeté [à la mer].
He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned:
فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ[142]
Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemun
Le poisson l'avala alors qu'il était blâmable.
Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame.
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ[143]
Falawla annahu kana mina almusabbiheena
S'il n'avait pas été parmi ceux qui glorifient Allah,
Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah,
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ[144]
Lalabitha fee batnihi ila yawmi yubAAathoona
il serait demeuré dans son ventre jusqu'au jour où l'on sera ressuscité.
He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection.
۞ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِالْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ[145]
Fanabathnahu bialAAarai wahuwa saqeemun
Nous le jetâmes sur la terre nue, indisposé qu'il était.
But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness,
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ[146]
Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan min yaqteenin
Et Nous fîmes pousser au-dessus de lui un plant de courge,
And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind.
وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ[147]
Waarsalnahu ila miati alfin aw yazeedoona
et l'envoyâmes ensuite (comme prophète) vers cent mille hommes ou plus.
And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more.
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ[148]
Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ila heenin
Ils crurent, et nous leur donnâmes jouissance de la vie pour un temps.
And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ[149]
Faistaftihim alirabbika albanatu walahumu albanoona
Pose-leur donc la question: «Ton Seigneur aurait-Il des filles et eux des fils?
Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?-
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ[150]
Am khalaqna almalaikata inathan wahum shahidoona
Ou bien avons-Nous créé des Anges de sexe féminin, et en sont-ils témoins?».
Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ[151]
Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloona
Certes, ils disent dans leur mensonge:
Is it not that they say, from their own invention,
وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ[152]
Walada Allahu wainnahum lakathiboona
«Allah a engendré» mais ce sont certainement des menteurs!
"Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars!
أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ[153]
Astafa albanati AAala albaneena
Aurait-Il choisi des filles de préférence à des fils?
Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ[154]
Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona
Qu'avez-vous donc à juger ainsi?
What is the matter with you? How judge ye?
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ[155]
Afala tathakkaroona
Ne réfléchissez-vous donc pas?
Will ye not then receive admonition?
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ[156]
Am lakum sultanun mubeenun
Ou avez-vous un argument évident?
Or have ye an authority manifest?
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ[157]
Fatoo bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeena
Apportez donc votre Livre si vous êtes véridiques!»
Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ[158]
WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnati nasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroona
Et ils ont établi entre Lui et les djinns une parenté, alors que les djinns savent bien qu'ils [les mécréants] vont être emmenés (pour le châtiment).
And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)!
سُبْحَٰنَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ[159]
Subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona
Gloire à Allah. Il est au-dessus de ce qu'ils décrivent!
Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ[160]
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Exception faite des serviteurs élus d'Allah.
Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted.
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ[161]
Fainnakum wama taAAbudoona
En vérité, vous et tout ce que vous adorez,
For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship-
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ[162]
Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineena
ne pourrez tenter [personne],
Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah,
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ[163]
Illa man huwa sali aljaheemi
excepté celui qui sera brûlé dans la Fournaise.
Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ[164]
Wama minna illa lahu maqamun maAAloomun
Il n'y en a pas un, parmi nous, qui n'ait une place connue;
(Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed;
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّآفُّونَ[165]
Wainna lanahnu alssaffoona
nous sommes certes, les rangés en rangs;
"And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service);
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ[166]
Wainna lanahnu almusabbihoona
et c'est nous certes, qui célébrons la gloire [d'Allah].
"And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!"
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ[167]
Wain kanoo layaqooloona
Même s'ils disaient:
And there were those who said,
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ[168]
Law anna AAindana thikran mina alawwaleena
«Si nous avions eu un Rappel de [nos] ancêtres,
"If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ[169]
Lakunna AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
nous aurions été certes les serviteurs élus d'Allah!
"We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ[170]
Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoona
Ils y ont mécru et ils sauront bientôt.
But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ[171]
Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadina almursaleena
En effet, Notre Parole a déjà été donnée à Nos serviteurs, les Messagers,
Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us),
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنصُورُونَ[172]
Innahum lahumu almansooroona
que ce sont eux qui seront secourus,
That they would certainly be assisted,
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَٰلِبُونَ[173]
Wainna jundana lahumu alghaliboona
et que Nos soldats auront le dessus.
And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ[174]
Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heenin
Eloigne-toi d'eux, jusqu'à un certain temps;
So turn thou away from them for a little while,
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ[175]
Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroona
et observe-les: ils verront bientôt!
And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ[176]
AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona
Quoi! est-ce Notre châtiment qu'ils cherchent à hâter?
Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment?
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنذَرِينَ[177]
Faitha nazala bisahatihim fasaa sabahu almunthareena
Quand il tombera dans leur place, ce sera alors un mauvais matin pour ceux qu'on a avertis!
But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)!
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ[178]
Watawalla AAanhum hatta heenin
Et éloigne-toi d'eux jusqu'à un certain temps;
So turn thou away from them for a little while,
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ[179]
Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroona
et observe; ils verront bientôt!
And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ[180]
Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzati AAamma yasifoona
Gloire à ton Seigneur, le Seigneur de la puissance. Il est au-dessus de ce qu'ils décrivent!
Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!
وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ[181]
Wasalamun AAala almursaleena
Et paix sur les Messagers,
And Peace on the messengers!
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَٰلَمِينَ[182]
Waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena
et louange à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers!
And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds.
