بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ حمٓ[1]

Hameem

H'â, Mîm.

Ha-Mim

عٓسٓقٓ[2]

AAaynseenqaf

Aîn, Sîn, Qâf.

'Ain. Sin. Qaf.

كَذَٰلِكَ يُوحِىٓ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ[3]

Kathalika yoohee ilayka waila allatheena min qablika Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu

C'est ainsi qu'Allah, le Puissant, le Sage, te fait des révélations, comme à ceux qui ont vécu avant toi.

Thus doth (He) send inspiration to thee as (He did) to those before thee,- Allah, Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom.

لَهُۥ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظِيمُ[4]

Lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheemu

A Lui appartient ce qui est dans les cieux et ce qui est sur la terre. Et Il est le Sublime, le Très Grand,

To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: and He is Most High, Most Great.

تَكَادُ السَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِن فَوْقِهِنَّ ۚ وَالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَن فِى الْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ[5]

Takadu alssamawatu yatafattarna min fawqihinna waalmalaikatu yusabbihoona bihamdi rabbihim wayastaghfiroona liman fee alardi ala inna Allaha huwa alghafooru alrraheemu

Peu s'en faut que les cieux ne se fendent depuis leur faîte quand les anges glorifient leur Seigneur, célèbrent Ses louanges et implorent le pardon pour ceux qui sont sur la terre. Allah est certes le Pardonneur, le Très Miséricordieux.

The heavens are almost rent asunder from above them (by Him Glory): and the angels celebrate the Praises of their Lord, and pray for forgiveness for (all) beings on earth: Behold! Verily Allah is He, the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ اللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ[6]

Waallatheena ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaa Allahu hafeethun AAalayhim wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelin

Et quant à ceux qui prennent des protecteurs en dehors de Lui, Allah veille à ce qu'ils font. Et tu n'es pas pour eux un garant.

And those who take as protectors others besides Him,- Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ الْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوْمَ الْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ فَرِيقٌ فِى الْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِى السَّعِيرِ[7]

Wakathalika awhayna ilayka quranan AAarabiyyan litunthira omma alqura waman hawlaha watunthira yawma aljamAAi la rayba feehi fareequn fee aljannati wafareequn fee alssaAAeeri

Et c'est ainsi que Nous t'avons révélé un Coran arabe, afin que tu avertisses la Mère des cités (la Mecque) et ses alentours et que tu avertisses du Jour du rassemblement, - sur lequel il n'y a pas de doute - Un groupe au Paradis et un groupe dans la fournaise ardente.

Thus have We sent by inspiration to thee an Arabic Qur'an: that thou mayest warn the Mother of Cities and all around her,- and warn (them) of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt: (when) some will be in the Garden, and some in the Blazing Fire.

وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَالظَّٰلِمُونَ مَا لَهُم مِّن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ[8]

Walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalahum ommatan wahidatan walakin yudkhilu man yashao fee rahmatihi waalththalimoona ma lahum min waliyyin wala naseerin

Et si Allah avait voulu, Il en aurait fait une seule communauté. Mais Il fait entrer qui Il veut dans Sa miséricorde. Et les injustes n'auront ni maître ni secoureur.

If Allah had so willed, He could have made them a single people; but He admits whom He will to His Mercy; and the Wrong-doers will have no protector nor helper.

أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۖ فَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْوَلِىُّ وَهُوَ يُحْىِ الْمَوْتَىٰ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ[9]

Ami ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaa faAllahu huwa alwaliyyu wahuwa yuhyee almawta wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Ont-ils pris des maîtres en dehors de Lui ? C'est Allah qui est le seul Maître et c'est Lui qui redonne la vie aux morts; et c'est Lui qui est Omnipotent.

What! Have they taken (for worship) protectors besides Him? But it is Allah,- He is the Protector, and it is He Who gives life to the dead: It is He Who has power over all things,

وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَىْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ إِلَى اللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبِّى عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ[10]

Wama ikhtalaftum feehi min shayin fahukmuhu ila Allahi thalikumu Allahu rabbee AAalayhi tawakkaltu wailayhi oneebu

Sur toutes vos divergences, le jugement appartient à Allah. Tel est Allah mon Seigneur; en Lui je place ma confiance et c'est à Lui que je retourne [repentant]

Whatever it be wherein ye differ, the decision thereof is with Allah: such is Allah my Lord: In Him I trust, and to Him I turn.

فَاطِرُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَٰمِ أَزْوَٰجًا ۖ يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ ۚ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِۦ شَىْءٌ ۖ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ[11]

Fatiru alssamawati waalardi jaAAala lakum min anfusikum azwajan wamina alanAAami azwajan yathraokum feehi laysa kamithlihi shayon wahuwa alssameeAAu albaseeru

...Créateur des cieux et de la terre. Il vous a donné des épouses [issues] de vous-mêmes et des bestiaux par couples; par ce moyen Il vous multiplie. Il n'y a rien qui Lui ressemble; et c'est Lui l'Audient, le Clairvoyant.

(He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).

لَهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ[12]

Lahu maqaleedu alssamawati waalardi yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru innahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Il possède les clefs [des trésors] des cieux et de la terre. Il attribue Ses dons avec largesse, ou les restreint à qui Il veut. Certes, Il est Omniscient.

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: He enlarges and restricts. The Sustenance to whom He will: for He knows full well all things.

۞ شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِۦ نُوحًا وَالَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِۦٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰٓ ۖ أَنْ أَقِيمُوا۟ الدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۚ اللَّهُ يَجْتَبِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ[13]

SharaAAa lakum mina alddeeni ma wassa bihi noohan waallathee awhayna ilayka wama wassayna bihi ibraheema wamoosa waAAeesa an aqeemoo alddeena wala tatafarraqoo feehi kabura AAala almushrikeena ma tadAAoohum ilayhi Allahu yajtabee ilayhi man yashao wayahdee ilayhi man yuneebu

Il vous a légiféré en matière de religion, ce qu'Il avait enjoint à Noé, ce que Nous t'avons révélé, ainsi que ce que Nous avons enjoint à Abraham, à Moïse et à Jésus: «Etablissez la religion; et n'en faites pas un sujet de divisions». Ce à quoi tu appelles les associateurs leur paraît énorme Allah élit et rapproche de Lui qui Il veut et guide vers Lui celui qui se repent.

The same religion has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah - the which We have sent by inspiration to thee - and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that ye should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which thou callest them. Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).

وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوٓا۟ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى لَّقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُورِثُوا۟ الْكِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ[14]

Wama tafarraqoo illa min baAAdi ma jaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum walawla kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika ila ajalin musamman laqudiya baynahum wainna allatheena oorithoo alkitaba min baAAdihim lafee shakkin minhu mureebin

Ils ne se sont divisés qu'après avoir reçu la science et ceci par rivalité entre eux. Et si ce n'était une parole préalable de ton Seigneur pour un terme fixé, on aurait certainement tranché entre eux. Ceux à qui le Livre a été donné en héritage après eux sont vraiment à son sujet, dans un doute troublant.

And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (tending) to a Term appointed, the matter would have been settled between them: But truly those who have inherited the Book after them are in suspicious (disquieting) doubt concerning it.

فَلِذَٰلِكَ فَادْعُ ۖ وَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۖ وَقُلْ ءَامَنتُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ مِن كِتَٰبٍ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَعْدِلَ بَيْنَكُمُ ۖ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَنَآ أَعْمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ ۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ ۖ اللَّهُ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ[15]

Falithalika faodAAu waistaqim kama omirta wala tattabiAA ahwaahum waqul amantu bima anzala Allahu min kitabin waomirtu liaAAdila baynakum Allahu rabbuna warabbukum lana aAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum la hujjata baynana wabaynakumu Allahu yajmaAAu baynana wailayhi almaseeru

Appelle donc (les gens) à cela; reste droit comme il t'a été commandé; ne suis pas leurs passions; et dis: «Je crois en tout ce qu'Allah a fait descendre comme Livre, et il m'a été commandé d'être équitable entre vous. Allah est notre Seigneur et votre Seigneur. A nous nos œuvres et à vous vos œuvres. Aucun argument [ne peut trancher] entre nous et vous. Allah nous regroupera tous. Et vers Lui est la destination».

Now then, for that (reason), call (them to the Faith), and stand steadfast as thou art commanded, nor follow thou their vain desires; but say: "I believe in the Book which Allah has sent down; and I am commanded to judge justly between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord: for us (is the responsibility for) our deeds, and for you for your deeds. There is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is (our) Final Goal.

وَالَّذِينَ يُحَآجُّونَ فِى اللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُۥ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ[16]

Waallatheena yuhajjoona fee Allahi min baAAdi ma istujeeba lahu hujjatuhum dahidatun AAinda rabbihim waAAalayhim ghadabun walahum AAathabun shadeedun

Et ceux qui discutent au sujet d'Allah, après qu'il a été répondu à [Son appel], leur argumentation est auprès d'Allah sans valeur. Une colère tombera sur eux et ils auront un dur châtiment.

But those who dispute concerning Allah after He has been accepted,- futile is their dispute in the Sight of their Lord: on them will be a Penalty terrible.

اللَّهُ الَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ الْكِتَٰبَ بِالْحَقِّ وَالْمِيزَانَ ۗ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌ[17]

Allahu allathee anzala alkitaba bialhaqqi waalmeezani wama yudreeka laAAalla alssaAAata qareebun

C'est Allah qui a fait descendre le Livre en toute vérité, ainsi que la balance. Et qu'en sais-tu? Peut-être que l'Heure est proche?

It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand?

يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا ۖ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مُشْفِقُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا الْحَقُّ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِى السَّاعَةِ لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍ[18]

YastaAAjilu biha allatheena la yuminoona biha waallatheena amanoo mushfiqoona minha wayaAAlamoona annaha alhaqqu ala inna allatheena yumaroona fee alssaAAati lafee dalalin baAAeedin

Ceux qui n'y croient pas cherchent à la hâter; tandis que ceux qui croient en sont craintifs et savent qu'elle est la pure vérité. Et ceux qui discutent à propos de l'Heure sont dans un égarement lointain.

Only those wish to hasten it who believe not in it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know that it is the Truth. Behold, verily those that dispute concerning the Hour are far astray.

اللَّهُ لَطِيفٌۢ بِعِبَادِهِۦ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ وَهُوَ الْقَوِىُّ الْعَزِيزُ[19]

Allahu lateefun biAAibadihi yarzuqu man yashao wahuwa alqawiyyu alAAazeezu

Allah est doux envers Ses serviteurs. Il attribue [Ses biens] à qui Il veut. Et c'est Lui le Fort, le Puissant.

Gracious is Allah to His servants: He gives Sustenance to whom He pleases: and He has power and can carry out His Will.

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ الْءَاخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهُۥ فِى حَرْثِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ الدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا وَمَا لَهُۥ فِى الْءَاخِرَةِ مِن نَّصِيبٍ[20]

Man kana yureedu hartha alakhirati nazid lahu fee harthihi waman kana yureedu hartha alddunya nutihi minha wama lahu fee alakhirati min naseebin

Quiconque désire labourer [le champ] de la vie future, Nous augmenterons pour lui son labour. Quiconque désire labourer [le champ] de la présente vie, Nous lui en accorderons de [ses jouissances]; mais il n'aura pas de part dans l'au-delà.

To any that desires the tilth of the Hereafter, We give increase in his tilth, and to any that desires the tilth of this world, We grant somewhat thereof, but he has no share or lot in the Hereafter.

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَٰٓؤُا۟ شَرَعُوا۟ لَهُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنۢ بِهِ اللَّهُ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةُ الْفَصْلِ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۗ وَإِنَّ الظَّٰلِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ[21]

Am lahum shurakao sharaAAoo lahum mina alddeeni ma lam yathan bihi Allahu walawla kalimatu alfasli laqudiya baynahum wainna alththalimeena lahum AAathabun aleemun

Ou bien auraient-ils des associés [à Allah] qui auraient établi pour eux des lois religieuses qu'Allah n'a jamais permises? Or, si l'arrêt décisif n'avait pas été prononcé, il aurait été tranché entre eux. Les injustes auront certes un châtiment douloureux.

What! have they partners (in godhead), who have established for them some religion without the permission of Allah? Had it not been for the Decree of Judgment, the matter would have been decided between them (at once). But verily the Wrong-doers will have a grievous Penalty.

تَرَى الظَّٰلِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ وَهُوَ وَاقِعٌۢ بِهِمْ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فِى رَوْضَاتِ الْجَنَّاتِ ۖ لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْكَبِيرُ[22]

Tara alththalimeena mushfiqeena mimma kasaboo wahuwa waqiAAun bihim waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fee rawdati aljannati lahum ma yashaoona AAinda rabbihim thalika huwa alfadlu alkabeeru

Tu verras les injustes épouvantés par ce qu'ils ont fait, et le châtiment s'abattra sur eux (inéluctablement). Et ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres, seront dans les sites fleuris des jardins, ayant ce qu'ils voudront auprès de leur Seigneur. Telle est la grande grâce!

Thou wilt see the Wrong-doers in fear on account of what they have earned, and (the burden of) that must (necessarily) fall on them. But those who believe and work righteous deeds will be in the luxuriant meads of the Gardens: they shall have, before their Lord, all that they wish for. That will indeed be the magnificent Bounty (of Allah).

ذَٰلِكَ الَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ ۗ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِى الْقُرْبَىٰ ۗ وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسْنًا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ[23]

Thalika allathee yubashshiru Allahu AAibadahu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati qul la asalukum AAalayhi ajran illa almawaddata fee alqurba waman yaqtarif hasanatan nazid lahu feeha husnan inna Allaha ghafoorun shakoorun

Telle est la [bonne nouvelle] qu'Allah annonce à ceux de Ses serviteurs qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres! Dis: «Je ne vous en demande aucun salaire si ce n'est l'affection eu égard à [nos liens] de parenté». Et quiconque accomplit une bonne action, Nous répondons par [une récompense] plus belle encore. Allah est certes Pardonneur et Reconnaissant.

That is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." And if any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service).

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا ۖ فَإِن يَشَإِ اللَّهُ يَخْتِمْ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ ۗ وَيَمْحُ اللَّهُ الْبَٰطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ[24]

Am yaqooloona iftara AAala Allahi kathiban fain yashai Allahu yakhtim AAala qalbika wayamhu Allahu albatila wayuhiqqu alhaqqa bikalimatihi innahu AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

Ou bien ils disent il a inventé un mensonge contre Allah. Or, si Allah voulait, Il scellerait ton cœur. Par Ses Paroles cependant, Allah efface le faux et confirme le vrai. Il connaît parfaitement le contenu des poitrines.

What! Do they say, "He has forged a falsehood against Allah"? But if Allah willed, He could seal up thy heart. And Allah blots out Vanity, and proves the Truth by His Words. For He knows well the secrets of all hearts.

وَهُوَ الَّذِى يَقْبَلُ التَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَنِ السَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ[25]

Wahuwa allathee yaqbalu alttawbata AAan AAibadihi wayaAAfoo AAani alssayyiati wayaAAlamu ma tafAAaloona

Et c'est lui qui agrée de Ses serviteurs le repentir, pardonne les méfaits et sait ce que vous faites,

He is the One that accepts repentance from His Servants and forgives sins: and He knows all that ye do.

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ ۚ وَالْكَٰفِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ[26]

Wayastajeebu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wayazeeduhum min fadlihi waalkafiroona lahum AAathabun shadeedun

et exauce [les vœux] de ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres et leur accroît Sa faveur, tandis que les mécréants ont un dur châtiment.

And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers their is a terrible Penalty.

۞ وَلَوْ بَسَطَ اللَّهُ الرِّزْقَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ لَبَغَوْا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِن يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٍ مَّا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرٌۢ بَصِيرٌ[27]

Walaw basata Allahu alrrizqa liAAibadihi labaghaw fee alardi walakin yunazzilu biqadarin ma yashao innahu biAAibadihi khabeerun baseerun

Si Allah attribuait Ses dons avec largesse à [tous] Ses serviteurs, ils commettraient des abus sur la terre; mais, Il fait descendre avec mesure ce qu'Il veut. Il connaît parfaitement Ses serviteurs et en est Clairvoyant.

If Allah were to enlarge the provision for His Servants, they would indeed transgress beyond all bounds through the earth; but he sends (it) down in due measure as He pleases. For He is with His Servants Well-acquainted, Watchful.

وَهُوَ الَّذِى يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا۟ وَيَنشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُۥ ۚ وَهُوَ الْوَلِىُّ الْحَمِيدُ[28]

Wahuwa allathee yunazzilu alghaytha min baAAdi ma qanatoo wayanshuru rahmatahu wahuwa alwaliyyu alhameedu

Et c'est Lui qui fait descendre la pluie après qu'on en a désespéré, et répand Sa miséricorde. Et c'est Lui le Maître, le Digne de louange.

He is the One that sends down rain (even) after (men) have given up all hope, and scatters His Mercy (far and wide). And He is the Protector, Worthy of all Praise.

وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ خَلْقُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ جَمْعِهِمْ إِذَا يَشَآءُ قَدِيرٌ[29]

Wamin ayatihi khalqu alssamawati waalardi wama baththa feehima min dabbatin wahuwa AAala jamAAihim itha yashao qadeerun

Parmi Ses preuves est la création des cieux et de la terre et des êtres vivants qu'Il y a disséminés. Il a en outre le pouvoir de les réunir quand Il voudra.

And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has scattered through them: and He has power to gather them together when He wills.

وَمَآ أَصَٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍ[30]

Wama asabakum min museebatin fabima kasabat aydeekum wayaAAfoo AAan katheerin

Tout malheur qui vous atteint est dû à ce que vos mains ont acquis. Et Il pardonne beaucoup.

Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness.

وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِى الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ[31]

Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee alardi wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin

Vous ne pouvez pas échapper à la puissance d'Allah sur la terre; et vous n'avez en dehors d'Allah, ni maître ni défenseur.

Nor can ye frustrate (aught), (fleeing) through the earth; nor have ye, besides Allah, any one to protect or to help.

وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِ الْجَوَارِ فِى الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَٰمِ[32]

Wamin ayatihi aljawari fee albahri kaalaAAlami

Et parmi Ses preuves, sont les vaisseaux à travers la mer, semblables à des montagnes.

And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains.

إِن يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ الرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ[33]

In yasha yuskini alrreeha fayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihi inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin

S'Il veut, Il calme le vent, et les voilà qui restent immobiles à sa surface. Ce sont certainement là des preuves pour tout [homme] endurant et reconnaissant.

If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful.

أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَيَعْفُ عَن كَثِيرٍ[34]

Aw yoobiqhunna bima kasaboo wayaAAfu AAan katheerin

Ou bien, Il les détruit en punition de ce qu'ils ont acquis [comme péchés]. Cependant, Il pardonne beaucoup.

Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive.

وَيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍ[35]

WayaAAlama allatheena yujadiloona fee ayatina ma lahum min maheesin

Ceux qui disputent à propos de Nos preuves savent bien qu'ils n'ont pas d'échappatoire.

But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape.

فَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَمَتَٰعُ الْحَيَوٰةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ[36]

Fama ooteetum min shayin famataAAu alhayati alddunya wama AAinda Allahi khayrun waabqa lillatheena amanoo waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona

Tout ce qui vous a été donné [comme bien] n'est que jouissance de la vie présente; mais ce qui est auprès d'Allah est meilleur et plus durable pour ceux qui ont cru et qui placent leur confiance en leur Seigneur,

Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord:

وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَٰٓئِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَٰحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا۟ هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ[37]

Waallatheena yajtaniboona kabaira alithmi waalfawahisha waitha ma ghadiboo hum yaghfiroona

qui évitent [de commettre] les péchés les plus graves ainsi que les turpitudes, et qui pardonnent après s'être mis en colère,

Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive;

وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا۟ الصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَىٰ بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ[38]

Waallatheena istajaboo lirabbihim waaqamoo alssalata waamruhum shoora baynahum wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona

qui répondent à l'appel de leur Seigneur, accomplissent la Salât, se consultent entre eux à propos de leurs affaires, dépensent de ce que Nous leur attribuons,

Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَابَهُمُ الْبَغْىُ هُمْ يَنتَصِرُونَ[39]

Waallatheena itha asabahumu albaghyu hum yantasiroona

et qui, atteints par l'injustice, ripostent.

And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.

وَجَزَٰٓؤُا۟ سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِّثْلُهَا ۖ فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ الظَّٰلِمِينَ[40]

Wajazao sayyiatin sayyiatun mithluha faman AAafa waaslaha faajruhu AAala Allahi innahu la yuhibbu alththalimeena

La sanction d'une mauvaise action est une mauvaise action [une peine] identique. Mais quiconque pardonne et réforme, son salaire incombe à Allah. Il n'aime point les injustes!

The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong.

وَلَمَنِ انتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ[41]

Walamani intasara baAAda thulmihi faolaika ma AAalayhim min sabeelin

Quant à ceux qui ripostent après avoir été lésés, ...ceux-là pas de voie (recours légal) contre eux;

But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame.

إِنَّمَا السَّبِيلُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَظْلِمُونَ النَّاسَ وَيَبْغُونَ فِى الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ[42]

Innama alssabeelu AAala allatheena yathlimoona alnnasa wayabghoona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi olaika lahum AAathabun aleemun

il n'y a de voie [de recours] que contre ceux qui lèsent les gens et commettent des abus, contrairement au droit, sur la terre: ceux-là auront un châtiment douloureux.

The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous.

وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ[43]

Walaman sabara waghafara inna thalika lamin AAazmi alomoori

Et celui qui endure et pardonne, cela en vérité, fait partie des bonnes dispositions et de la résolution dans les affaires.

But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs.

وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن وَلِىٍّ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۗ وَتَرَى الظَّٰلِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ الْعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ إِلَىٰ مَرَدٍّ مِّن سَبِيلٍ[44]

Waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min waliyyin min baAAdihi watara alththalimeena lamma raawoo alAAathaba yaqooloona hal ila maraddin min sabeelin

Et quiconque Allah égare n'a aucun protecteur après Lui. Cependant tu verras les injustes dire, en voyant le châtiment: «Y a-t-il un moyen de retourner [sur terre]?»

For any whom Allah leaves astray, there is no protector thereafter. And thou wilt see the Wrong-doers, when in sight of the Penalty, Say: "Is there any way (to effect) a return?"

وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَٰشِعِينَ مِنَ الذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرْفٍ خَفِىٍّ ۗ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ الْخَٰسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَٰمَةِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ الظَّٰلِمِينَ فِى عَذَابٍ مُّقِيمٍ[45]

Watarahum yuAAradoona AAalayha khashiAAeena mina alththulli yanthuroona min tarfin khafiyyin waqala allatheena amanoo inna alkhasireena allatheena khasiroo anfusahum waahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala inna alththalimeena fee AAathabin muqeemin

Et tu les verras exposés devant l'Enfer, confondus dans l'avilissement, et regardant d'un œil furtif, tandis que ceux qui ont cru diront: «Les perdants sont certes, ceux qui au Jour de la Résurrection font leur propre perte et celle de leurs familles». Les injustes subiront certes un châtiment permanent.

And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace, (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!"

وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ يَنصُرُونَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن سَبِيلٍ[46]

Wama kana lahum min awliyaa yansuroonahum min dooni Allahi waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min sabeelin

Ils n'auront pas de protecteur en dehors d'Allah pour les secourir et quiconque Allah égare n'a plus aucune voie.

And no protectors have they to help them, other than Allah. And for any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is no way (to the Goal).

اسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۚ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍ[47]

Istajeeboo lirabbikum min qabli an yatiya yawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi ma lakum min maljain yawmaithin wama lakum min nakeerin

Répondez à l'appel de votre Seigneur avant que ne vienne un jour dont Allah ne reportera jamais le terme. Ce jour-là, nul refuge pour vous et vous ne pourrez point nier (vos péchés).

Hearken ye to your Lord, before there come a Day which there will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah! that Day there will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for denial (of your sins)!

فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا الْبَلَٰغُ ۗ وَإِنَّآ إِذَآ أَذَقْنَا الْإِنسَٰنَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَا ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ الْإِنسَٰنَ كَفُورٌ[48]

Fain aAAradoo fama arsalnaka AAalayhim hafeethan in AAalayka illa albalaghu wainna itha athaqna alinsana minna rahmatan fariha biha wain tusibhum sayyiatun bima qaddamat aydeehim fainna alinsana kafoorun

S'ils se détournent, ...Nous ne t'avons pas envoyé pour assurer leur sauvegarde: tu n'es chargé que de transmettre [le message]. Et lorsque Nous faisons goûter à l'homme une miséricorde venant de Nous, il en exulte; mais si un malheur les atteint pour ce que leurs mains ont perpétré..., l'homme est alors très ingrat!

If then they run away, We have not sent thee as a guard over them. Thy duty is but to convey (the Message). And truly, when We give man a taste of a Mercy from Ourselves, he doth exult thereat, but when some ill happens to him, on account of the deeds which his hands have sent forth, truly then is man ungrateful!

لِّلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ يَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ إِنَٰثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ الذُّكُورَ[49]

Lillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi yakhluqu ma yashao yahabu liman yashao inathan wayahabu liman yashao alththukoora

A Allah appartient la royauté des cieux et de la terre. Il crée ce qu'Il veut. Il fait don de filles à qui Il veut, et don de garçons à qui Il veut,

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans). He bestows (children) male or female according to His Will (and Plan),

أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَٰثًا ۖ وَيَجْعَلُ مَن يَشَآءُ عَقِيمًا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ[50]

Aw yuzawwijuhum thukranan wainathan wayajAAalu man yashao AAaqeeman innahu AAaleemun qadeerun

ou bien Il donne à la fois garçons et filles; et Il rend stérile qui Il veut. Il est certes Omniscient et Omnipotent.

Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He will: for He is full of Knowledge and Power.

۞ وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِن وَرَآئِ حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًا فَيُوحِىَ بِإِذْنِهِۦ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِىٌّ حَكِيمٌ[51]

Wama kana libasharin an yukallimahu Allahu illa wahyan aw min warai hijabin aw yursila rasoolan fayoohiya biithnihi ma yashao innahu AAaliyyun hakeemun

Il n'a pas été donné à un mortel qu'Allah lui parle autrement que par révélation ou de derrière un voile, ou qu'Il [Lui] envoie un messager (Ange) qui révèle, par Sa permission, ce qu'Il [Allah] veut. Il est Sublime et Sage.

It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by the sending of a messenger to reveal, with Allah's permission, what Allah wills: for He is Most High, Most Wise.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا ۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِى مَا الْكِتَٰبُ وَلَا الْإِيمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِن جَعَلْنَٰهُ نُورًا نَّهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِىٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ[52]

Wakathalika awhayna ilayka roohan min amrina ma kunta tadree ma alkitabu wala aleemanu walakin jaAAalnahu nooran nahdee bihi man nashao min AAibadina wainnaka latahdee ila siratin mustaqeemin

Et c'est ainsi que Nous t'avons révélé un esprit [le Coran] provenant de Notre ordre. Tu n'avais aucune connaissance du Livre ni de la foi; mais Nous en avons fait une lumière par laquelle Nous guidons qui Nous voulons parmi Nos serviteurs. Et en vérité tu guides vers un chemin droit,

And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee: thou knewest not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith; but We have made the (Qur'an) a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the Straight Way,-

صِرَٰطِ اللَّهِ الَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَآ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَصِيرُ الْأُمُورُ[53]

Sirati Allahi allathee lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi ala ila Allahi taseeru alomooru

le chemin d'Allah à Qui appartient ce qui est dans les cieux et ce qui est sur la terre. Oui c'est à Allah que s'acheminent toutes les choses.

The Way of Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Behold (how) all affairs tend towards Allah!
