بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ[1]

Allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi adalla aAAmalahum

Ceux qui ont mécru et obstrué le chemin d'Allah, Il a rendu leurs œuvres vaines.

Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah,- their deeds will Allah render astray (from their mark).

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۙ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ[2]

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati waamanoo bima nuzzila AAala muhammadin wahuwa alhaqqu min rabbihim kaffara AAanhum sayyiatihim waaslaha balahum

Et ceux qui ont cru et accompli de bonnes œuvres et ont cru en ce qui a été descendu sur Muhammad - et c'est la vérité venant de leur Seigneur - Il leur efface leurs méfaits et améliore leur condition.

But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and believe in the (Revelation) sent down to Muhammad - for it is the Truth from their Lord,- He will remove from them their ills and improve their condition.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ اتَّبَعُوا۟ الْبَٰطِلَ وَأَنَّ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ اتَّبَعُوا۟ الْحَقَّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ اللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ[3]

Thalika bianna allatheena kafaroo ittabaAAoo albatila waanna allatheena amanoo ittabaAAoo alhaqqa min rabbihim kathalika yadribu Allahu lilnnasi amthalahum

Il en est ainsi parce que ceux qui ont mécru ont suivi le Faux et que ceux qui ont cru ont suivi la Vérité émanant de leur Seigneur. C'est ainsi qu'Allah propose leurs exemples aux gens.

This because those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who believe follow the Truth from their Lord: Thus does Allah set forth for men their lessons by similitudes.

فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَضَرْبَ الرِّقَابِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَثْخَنتُمُوهُمْ فَشُدُّوا۟ الْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنًّۢا بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتَّىٰ تَضَعَ الْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَآءُ اللَّهُ لَانتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَا۟ بَعْضَكُم بِبَعْضٍ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَلَن يُضِلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ[4]

Faitha laqeetumu allatheena kafaroo fadarba alrriqabi hatta itha athkhantumoohum fashuddoo alwathaqa faimma mannan baAAdu waimma fidaan hatta tadaAAa alharbu awzaraha thalika walaw yashao Allahu laintasara minhum walakin liyabluwa baAAdakum bibaAAdin waallatheena qutiloo fee sabeeli Allahi falan yudilla aAAmalahum

Lorsque vous rencontrez (au combat) ceux qui ont mécru frappez-en les cous. Puis, quand vous les avez dominés, enchaînez-les solidement. Ensuite, c'est soit la libération gratuite, soit la rançon, jusqu'à ce que la guerre dépose ses fardeaux. Il en est ainsi, car si Allah voulait, Il se vengerait Lui-même contre eux, mais c'est pour vous éprouver les uns par les autres. Et ceux qui seront tués dans le chemin d'Allah, Il ne rendra jamais vaines leurs actions.

Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.

سَيَهْدِيهِمْ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَهُمْ[5]

Sayahdeehim wayuslihu balahum

Il les guidera et améliorera leur condition.

Soon will He guide them and improve their condition,

وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ[6]

Wayudkhiluhumu aljannata AAarrafaha lahum

et les fera entrer au Paradis qu'Il leur aura fait connaître.

And admit them to the Garden which He has announced for them.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تَنصُرُوا۟ اللَّهَ يَنصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ[7]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo in tansuroo Allaha yansurkum wayuthabbit aqdamakum

O vous qui croyez! si vous faites triompher (la cause d') Allah, Il vous fera triompher et raffermira vos pas.

O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.

وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَعْسًا لَّهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ[8]

Waallatheena kafaroo fataAAsan lahum waadalla aAAmalahum

Et quant à ceux qui ont mécru, il y aura un malheur pour eux, et Il rendra leurs œuvres vaines.

But those who reject (Allah),- for them is destruction, and (Allah) will render their deeds astray (from their mark).

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ[9]

Thalika biannahum karihoo ma anzala Allahu faahbata aAAmalahum

C'est parce qu'ils ont de la répulsion pour ce qu'Allah a fait descendre. Il a rendu donc vaines leurs œuvres.

That is because they hate the Revelation of Allah; so He has made their deeds fruitless.

۞ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ دَمَّرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْثَٰلُهَا[10]

Afalam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihim dammara Allahu AAalayhim walilkafireena amthaluha

N'ont-il pas parcouru la terre pour voir ce qu'il est advenu de leurs prédécesseurs? Allah les a détruits. Pareilles fins sont réservées aux mécréants.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the End of those before them (who did evil)? Allah brought utter destruction on them, and similar (fates await) those who reject Allah.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَأَنَّ الْكَٰفِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ[11]

Thalika bianna Allaha mawla allatheena amanoo waanna alkafireena la mawla lahum

C'est qu'Allah est vraiment le Protecteur de ceux qui ont cru; tandis que les mécréants n'ont pas de protecteur.

That is because Allah is the Protector of those who believe, but those who reject Allah have no protector.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَٰرُ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ الْأَنْعَٰمُ وَالنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَّهُمْ[12]

Inna Allaha yudkhilu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu waallatheena kafaroo yatamattaAAoona wayakuloona kama takulu alanAAamu waalnnaru mathwan lahum

Ceux qui croient et accomplissent de bonnes œuvres Allah les fera entrer dans des Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux. Et ceux qui mécroient jouissent et mangent comme mangent les bestiaux; et le Feu sera leur lieu de séjour.

Verily Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds, to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; while those who reject Allah will enjoy (this world) and eat as cattle eat; and the Fire will be their abode.

وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِىَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِّن قَرْيَتِكَ الَّتِىٓ أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ[13]

Wakaayyin min qaryatin hiya ashaddu quwwatan min qaryatika allatee akhrajatka ahlaknahum fala nasira lahum

Et que de cités, bien plus fortes que ta cité qui t'a expulsé, avons-Nous fait périr, et ils n'eurent point de secoureur.

And how many cities, with more power than thy city which has driven thee out, have We destroyed (for their sins)? and there was none to aid them.

أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ كَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَاتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُم[14]

Afaman kana AAala bayyinatin min rabbihi kaman zuyyina lahu sooo AAamalihi waittabaAAoo ahwaahum

Est-ce que celui qui se base sur une preuve claire venant de son Seigneur est comparable à ceux dont on a embelli les mauvaises actions et qui ont suivi leurs propres passions.

Is then one who is on a clear (Path) from his Lord, no better than one to whom the evil of his conduct seems pleasing, and such as follow their own lusts?

مَّثَلُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِى وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ ۖ فِيهَآ أَنْهَٰرٌ مِّن مَّآءٍ غَيْرِ ءَاسِنٍ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّن لَّبَنٍ لَّمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُۥ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّنْ خَمْرٍ لَّذَّةٍ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّنْ عَسَلٍ مُّصَفًّى ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَٰتِ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ ۖ كَمَنْ هُوَ خَٰلِدٌ فِى النَّارِ وَسُقُوا۟ مَآءً حَمِيمًا فَقَطَّعَ أَمْعَآءَهُمْ[15]

Mathalu aljannati allatee wuAAida almuttaqoona feeha anharun min main ghayri asinin waanharun min labanin lam yataghayyar taAAmuhu waanharun min khamrin laththatin lilshsharibeena waanharun min AAasalin musaffan walahum feeha min kulli alththamarati wamaghfiratun min rabbihim kaman huwa khalidun fee alnnari wasuqoo maan hameeman faqattaAAa amAAaahum

Voici la description du Paradis qui a été promis aux pieux: il y aura là des ruisseaux d'une eau jamais malodorante, et des ruisseaux d'un lait au goût inaltérable, et des ruisseaux d'un vin délicieux à boire, ainsi que des ruisseaux d'un miel purifié. Et il y a là, pour eux, des fruits de toutes sortes, ainsi qu'un pardon de la part de leur Seigneur. [Ceux-là] seront-ils pareils à ceux qui s'éternisent dans le Feu et qui sont abreuvés d'une eau bouillante qui leur déchire les entrailles?

(Here is) a Parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised: in it are rivers of water incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine, a joy to those who drink; and rivers of honey pure and clear. In it there are for them all kinds of fruits; and Grace from their Lord. (Can those in such Bliss) be compared to such as shall dwell for ever in the Fire, and be given, to drink, boiling water, so that it cuts up their bowels (to pieces)?

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا خَرَجُوا۟ مِنْ عِندِكَ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ الْعِلْمَ مَاذَا قَالَ ءَانِفًا ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَاتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ[16]

Waminhum man yastamiAAu ilayka hatta itha kharajoo min AAindika qaloo lillatheena ootoo alAAilma matha qala anifan olaika allatheena tabaAAa Allahu AAala quloobihim waittabaAAoo ahwaahum

Et il en est parmi eux qui t'écoutent. Une fois sortis de chez toi ils disent à ceux qui ont reçu la science: «Qu'a-t-il dit tout à l'heure?» Ce sont ceux-là dont Allah a scellé les cœurs et qui suivent leurs propres passions.

And among them are men who listen to thee, but in the end, when they go out from thee, they say to those who have received Knowledge, "What is it he said just then?" Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed, and who follow their own lusts.

وَالَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْا۟ زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَءَاتَىٰهُمْ تَقْوَىٰهُمْ[17]

Waallatheena ihtadaw zadahum hudan waatahum taqwahum

Quant à ceux qui se mirent sur la bonne voie, Il les guida encore plus et leur inspira leur piété.

But to those who receive Guidance, He increases the (light of) Guidance, and bestows on them their Piety and Restraint (from evil).

فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا السَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ[18]

Fahal yanthuroona illa alssaAAata an tatiyahum baghtatan faqad jaa ashratuha faanna lahum itha jaathum thikrahum

Qu'est-ce qu'ils attendent sinon que l'Heure leur vienne à l'improviste? Or ses signes avant-coureurs sont certes déjà venus. Et comment pourront-ils se rappeler quand elle leur viendra (à l'improviste)?

Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition?

فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَىٰكُمْ[19]

FaiAAlam annahu la ilaha illa Allahu waistaghfir lithanbika walilmumineena waalmuminati waAllahu yaAAlamu mutaqallabakum wamathwakum

Sache donc qu'en vérité il n'y a point de divinité à part Allah et implore le pardon pour ton péché, ainsi que pour les croyants et les croyantes. Allah connaît vos activités (sur terre) et votre lieu de repos (dans l'au-delà).

Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.

وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَتْ سُورَةٌ ۖ فَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ مُّحْكَمَةٌ وَذُكِرَ فِيهَا الْقِتَالُ ۙ رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ نَظَرَ الْمَغْشِىِّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ ۖ فَأَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ[20]

Wayaqoolu allatheena amanoo lawla nuzzilat sooratun faitha onzilat sooratun muhkamatun wathukira feeha alqitalu raayta allatheena fee quloobihim maradun yanthuroona ilayka nathara almaghshiyyi AAalayhi mina almawti faawla lahum

Ceux qui ont cru disent: «Ah! Si une Sourate descendait!» Puis, quand on fait descendre une Sourate explicite et qu'on y mentionne le combat, tu vois ceux qui ont une maladie au cœur te regarder du regard de celui qui s'évanouit devant la mort. Seraient bien préférables pour eux.

Those who believe say, "Why is not a sura sent down (for us)?" But when a sura of basic or categorical meaning is revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein, thou wilt see those in whose hearts is a disease looking at thee with a look of one in swoon at the approach of death. But more fitting for them-

طَاعَةٌ وَقَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوفٌ ۚ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ الْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا۟ اللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ[21]

TaAAatun waqawlun maAAroofun faitha AAazama alamru falaw sadaqoo Allaha lakana khayran lahum

une obéissance et une parole convenable. Puis, quand l'affaire est décidée, il serait mieux pour eux certes, de se montrer sincères vis-à-vis d'Allah.

Were it to obey and say what is just, and when a matter is resolved on, it were best for them if they were true to Allah.

فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَن تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُوٓا۟ أَرْحَامَكُمْ[22]

Fahal AAasaytum in tawallaytum an tufsidoo fee alardi watuqattiAAoo arhamakum

Si vous vous détournez, ne risquez-vous pas de semer la corruption sur terre et de rompre vos liens de parenté?

Then, is it to be expected of you, if ye were put in authority, that ye will do mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin?

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَىٰٓ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ[23]

Olaika allatheena laAAanahumu Allahu faasammahum waaAAma absarahum

Ce sont ceux-là qu'Allah a maudits, a rendus sourds et a rendu leurs yeux aveugles.

Such are the men whom Allah has cursed for He has made them deaf and blinded their sight.

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ[24]

Afala yatadabbaroona alqurana am AAala quloobin aqfaluha

Ne méditent-ils pas sur le Coran? Ou y a-t-il des cadenas sur leurs cœurs?

Do they not then earnestly seek to understand the Qur'an, or are their hearts locked up by them?

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ارْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَٰرِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْهُدَى ۙ الشَّيْطَٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ وَأَمْلَىٰ لَهُمْ[25]

Inna allatheena irtaddoo AAala adbarihim min baAAdi ma tabayyana lahumu alhuda alshshaytanu sawwala lahum waamla lahum

Ceux qui sont revenus sur leurs pas après que le droit chemin leur a été clairement exposé, le Diable les a séduits et trompés.

Those who turn back as apostates after Guidance was clearly shown to them,- the Evil One has instigated them and busied them up with false hopes.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُوا۟ مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِى بَعْضِ الْأَمْرِ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِسْرَارَهُمْ[26]

Thalika biannahum qaloo lillatheena karihoo ma nazzala Allahu sanuteeAAukum fee baAAdi alamri waAllahu yaAAlamu israrahum

C'est parce qu'ils ont dit à ceux qui ont de la répulsion pour la révélation d'Allah: «Nous allons vous obéir dans certaines choses». Allah cependant connaît ce qu'ils cachent.

This, because they said to those who hate what Allah has revealed, "We will obey you in part of (this) matter"; but Allah knows their (inner) secrets.

فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ الْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْ[27]

Fakayfa itha tawaffathumu almalaikatu yadriboona wujoohahum waadbarahum

Qu'adviendra-t-il d'eux quand les Anges les achèveront, frappant leurs faces et leurs dos?

But how (will it be) when the angels take their souls at death, and smite their faces and their backs?

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ اتَّبَعُوا۟ مَآ أَسْخَطَ اللَّهَ وَكَرِهُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ[28]

Thalika biannahumu ittabaAAoo ma askhata Allaha wakarihoo ridwanahu faahbata aAAmalahum

Cela parce qu'ils ont suivi ce qui courrouce Allah, et qu'ils ont de la répulsion pour [ce qui attire] Son agrément. Il a donc rendu vaines leurs œuvres.

This because they followed that which called forth the Wrath of Allah, and they hated Allah's good pleasure; so He made their deeds of no effect.

أَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ أَن لَّن يُخْرِجَ اللَّهُ أَضْغَٰنَهُمْ[29]

Am hasiba allatheena fee quloobihim maradun an lan yukhrija Allahu adghanahum

Ou bien est-ce que ceux qui ont une maladie au cœur escomptent qu'Allah ne saura jamais faire apparaître leur haine?

Or do those in whose hearts is a disease, think that Allah will not bring to light all their rancour?

وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَأَرَيْنَٰكَهُمْ فَلَعَرَفْتَهُم بِسِيمَٰهُمْ ۚ وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ فِى لَحْنِ الْقَوْلِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ[30]

Walaw nashao laaraynakahum falaAAaraftahum biseemahum walataAArifannahum fee lahni alqawli waAllahu yaAAlamu aAAmalakum

Or, si Nous voulions Nous te les montrerions. Tu les reconnaîtrais certes à leurs traits; et tu les reconnaîtrais très certainement au ton de leur parler. Et Allah connaît bien vos actions.

Had We so wiled, We could have shown them up to thee, and thou shouldst have known them by their marks: but surely thou wilt know them by the tone of their speech! And Allah knows all that ye do.

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ الْمُجَٰهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَالصَّٰبِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَا۟ أَخْبَارَكُمْ[31]

Walanabluwannakum hatta naAAlama almujahideena minkum waalssabireena wanabluwa akhbarakum

Nous vous éprouverons certes afin de distinguer ceux d'entre vous qui luttent [pour la cause d'Allah] et qui endurent, et afin d'éprouver [faire apparaître] vos nouvelles.

And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle).

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَشَآقُّوا۟ الرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْهُدَىٰ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ اللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيُحْبِطُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ[32]

Inna allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi washaqqoo alrrasoola min baAAdi ma tabayyana lahumu alhuda lan yaduroo Allaha shayan wasayuhbitu aAAmalahum

Ceux qui ont mécru et obstrué le chemin d'Allah et se sont mis dans le clan opposé au Messager après que le droit chemin leur fut clairement exposé, ne sauront nuire à Allah en quoi que ce soit. Il rendra vaines leurs œuvres.

Those who reject Allah, hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, and resist the Messenger, after Guidance has been clearly shown to them, will not injure Allah in the least, but He will make their deeds of no effect.

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ الرَّسُولَ وَلَا تُبْطِلُوٓا۟ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ[33]

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ateeAAoo Allaha waateeAAoo alrrasoola wala tubtiloo aAAmalakum

O vous qui avez cru ! Obéissez à Allah, obéissez au Messager, et ne rendez pas vaines vos œuvres.

O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the messenger, and make not vain your deeds!

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ مَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ فَلَن يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ[34]

Inna allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi thumma matoo wahum kuffarun falan yaghfira Allahu lahum

Ceux qui ont mécru et obstrué le chemin d'Allah puis sont morts tout en étant mécréants, Allah ne leur pardonnera jamais.

Those who reject Allah, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, then die rejecting Allah,- Allah will not forgive them.

فَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَتَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى السَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ وَاللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَن يَتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ[35]

Fala tahinoo watadAAoo ila alssalmi waantumu alaAAlawna waAllahu maAAakum walan yatirakum aAAmalakum

Ne faiblissez donc pas et n'appelez pas à la paix alors que vous êtes les plus hauts, qu'Allah est avec vous, et qu'Il ne vous frustrera jamais [du mérite] de vos œuvres.

Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.

إِنَّمَا الْحَيَوٰةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ ۚ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ يُؤْتِكُمْ أُجُورَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْـَٔلْكُمْ أَمْوَٰلَكُمْ[36]

Innama alhayatu alddunya laAAibun walahwun wain tuminoo watattaqoo yutikum ojoorakum wala yasalkum amwalakum

La vie présente n'est que jeu et amusement; alors que si vous croyez et craignez, [Allah], Il vous accordera vos récompenses et ne vous demandera pas vos biens.

The life of this world is but play and amusement: and if ye believe and guard against Evil, He will grant you your recompense, and will not ask you (to give up) your possessions.

إِن يَسْـَٔلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا۟ وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَٰنَكُمْ[37]

In yasalkumooha fayuhfikum tabkhaloo wayukhrij adghanakum

S'Il vous les demandait importunément, vous deviendriez avares et Il ferait apparaître vos haines.

If He were to ask you for all of them, and press you, ye would covetously withhold, and He would bring out all your ill-feeling.

هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ ۖ وَمَن يَبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ وَاللَّهُ الْغَنِىُّ وَأَنتُمُ الْفُقَرَآءُ ۚ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوٓا۟ أَمْثَٰلَكُم[38]

Haantum haolai tudAAawna litunfiqoo fee sabeeli Allahi faminkum man yabkhalu waman yabkhal fainnama yabkhalu AAan nafsihi waAllahu alghaniyyu waantumu alfuqarao wain tatawallaw yastabdil qawman ghayrakum thumma la yakoonoo amthalakum

Vous voilà appelés à faire des dépenses dans le chemin d'Allah. Certains parmi vous se montrent avares. Quiconque cependant est avare, l'est à son détriment. Allah est le Suffisant à Soi-même alors que vous êtes les besogneux. Et si vous vous détournez, Il vous remplacera par un peuple autre que vous, et ils ne seront pas comme vous.

Behold, ye are those invited to spend (of your substance) in the Way of Allah: But among you are some that are niggardly. But any who are niggardly are so at the expense of their own souls. But Allah is free of all wants, and it is ye that are needy. If ye turn back (from the Path), He will substitute in your stead another people; then they would not be like you!
