بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالْمُرْسَلَٰتِ عُرْفًا[1]
Waalmursalati AAurfan
Par ceux qu'on envoie en rafales,
By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man's profit);
فَالْعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصْفًا[2]
FaalAAasifati AAasfan
et qui soufflent en tempête!
Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts,
وَالنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا[3]
Waalnnashirati nashran
Et qui dispersent largement [dans toutes les directions].
And scatter (things) far and wide;
فَالْفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرْقًا[4]
Faalfariqati farqan
Par ceux qui séparent nettement (le bien et le mal),
Then separate them, one from another,
فَالْمُلْقِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا[5]
Faalmulqiyati thikran
et lancent un rappel
Then spread abroad a Message,
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا[6]
AAuthran aw nuthran
en guise d'excuse ou d'avertissement!
Whether of Justification or of Warning;-
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ[7]
Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAAun
Ce qui vous est promis est inéluctable.
Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass.
فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ[8]
Faitha alnnujoomu tumisat
Quand donc les étoiles seront effacées,
Then when the stars become dim;
وَإِذَا السَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ[9]
Waitha alssamao furijat
et que le ciel sera fendu,
When the heaven is cleft asunder;
وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ[10]
Waitha aljibalu nusifat
et que les montagnes seront pulvérisées,
When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust;
وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ[11]
Waitha alrrusulu oqqitat
et que le moment (pour la réunion) des Messagers a été fixé!...
And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);-
لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ[12]
Liayyi yawmin ojjilat
A quel jour tout cela a-t-il été renvoyé?
For what Day are these (portents) deferred?
لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ[13]
Liyawmi alfasli
Au Jour de la Décision. [le Jugement]!
For the Day of Sorting out.
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ[14]
Wama adraka ma yawmu alfasli
Et qui te dira ce qu'est le Jour de la Décision?
And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out?
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[15]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ[16]
Alam nuhliki alawwaleena
N'avons-nous pas fait périr les premières [générations]?
Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)?
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْءَاخِرِينَ[17]
Thumma nutbiAAuhumu alakhireena
Puis ne les avons-Nous pas fait suivre par les derniers?
So shall We make later (generations) follow them.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ[18]
Kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena
C'est ainsi que Nous agissons avec les criminels.
Thus do We deal with men of sin.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[19]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ[20]
Alam nakhluqkum min main maheenin
Ne vous avons-Nous pas créés d'une eau vile
Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?-
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ[21]
FajaAAalnahu fee qararin makeenin
que Nous avons placée dans un reposoir sûr,
The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed,
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ[22]
Ila qadarin maAAloomin
pour une durée connue?
For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)?
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَٰدِرُونَ[23]
Faqadarna faniAAma alqadiroona
Nous l'avons décrété ainsi et Nous décrétons [tout] de façon parfaite.
For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things).
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[24]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth!
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا[25]
Alam najAAali alarda kifatan
N'avons-Nous pas fait de la terre un endroit les contenant tous,
Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together.
أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا[26]
Ahyaan waamwatan
les vivants ainsi que les morts?
The living and the dead,
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَٰمِخَٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا[27]
WajaAAalna feeha rawasiya shamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furatan
Et n'y avons-Nous pas placé fermement de hautes montagnes? Et ne vous avons-Nous pas abreuvés d'eau douce?
And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)?
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[28]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
انطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ[29]
Intaliqoo ila ma kuntum bihi tukaththiboona
Allez vers ce que vous traitiez alors de mensonge!
(It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false!
انطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٍ[30]
Intaliqoo ila thillin thee thalathi shuAAabin
Allez vers une ombre [fumée de l'Enfer] à trois branches;
"Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns,
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ اللَّهَبِ[31]
La thaleelin wala yughnee mina allahabi
qui n'est ni ombreuse ni capable de protéger contre la flamme;
"(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze.
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ[32]
Innaha tarmee bishararin kaalqasri
car [le feu] jette des étincelles volumineuses comme des châteaux,
"Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts,
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ[33]
Kaannahu jimalatun sufrun
et qu'on prendrait pour des chameaux jaunes.
"As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)."
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[34]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ[35]
Hatha yawmu la yantiqoona
Ce sera le jour où ils ne [peuvent] pas parler,
That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak.
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ[36]
Wala yuthanu lahum fayaAAtathiroona
et point ne leur sera donné permission de s'excuser.
Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[37]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَٰكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ[38]
Hatha yawmu alfasli jamaAAnakum waalawwaleena
C'est le Jour de la Décision [Jugement], où nous vous réunirons ainsi que les anciens.
That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)!
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ[39]
Fain kana lakum kaydun fakeedooni
Si vous disposez d'une ruse, rusez donc contre Moi.
Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me!
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[40]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ[41]
Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalin waAAuyoonin
Les pieux seront parmi des ombrages et des sources
As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ[42]
Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoona
De même que des fruits selon leurs désirs.
And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire.
كُلُوا۟ وَاشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ[43]
Kuloo waishraboo haneean bima kuntum taAAmaloona
«Mangez et buvez agréablement, pour ce que vous faisiez».
"Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness).
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِينَ[44]
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
C'est ainsi que Nous récompensons les bienfaisants.
Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[45]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ[46]
Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakum mujrimoona
«Mangez et jouissez un peu (ici-bas); vous êtes certes des criminels».
(O ye unjust!) Eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[47]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ[48]
Waitha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo la yarkaAAoona
Et quand on leur dit: «Inclinez-vous, ils ne s'inclinent pas.
And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves!" they do not so.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ[49]
Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge.
Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!
فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ[50]
Fabiayyi hadeethin baAAdahu yuminoona
Après cela, en quelle parole croiront-ils donc?
Then what Message, after that, will they believe in?
