بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ[1]

Waalssamai thati alburooji

Par le ciel aux constellations!

By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs;

وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ[2]

Waalyawmi almawAAoodi

et par le jour promis!

By the promised Day (of Judgment);

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ[3]

Washahidin wamashhoodin

et par le témoin et ce dont on témoigne!

By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;-

قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ الْأُخْدُودِ[4]

Qutila ashabu alukhdoodi

Périssent les gens de l'Uhdûd,

Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ[5]

Alnnari thati alwaqoodi

par le feu plein de combustible,

Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel:

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ[6]

Ith hum AAalayha quAAoodun

cependant qu'ils étaient assis tout autour,

Behold! they sat over against the (fire),

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ[7]

Wahum AAala ma yafAAaloona bialmumineena shuhoodun

ils étaient ainsi témoins de ce qu'ils faisaient des croyants,

And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.

وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ[8]

Wama naqamoo minhum illa an yuminoo biAllahi alAAazeezi alhameedi

à qui ils ne leur reprochaient que d'avoir cru en Allah, le Puissant, le Digne de louange,

And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!-

الَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ السَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ[9]

Allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi waAllahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun

Auquel appartient la royauté des cieux et de la terre. Allah est témoin de toute chose.

Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ[10]

Inna allatheena fatanoo almumineena waalmuminati thumma lam yatooboo falahum AAathabu jahannama walahum AAathabu alhareeqi

Ceux qui font subir des épreuves aux croyants et aux croyantes, puis ne se repentent pas, auront le châtiment de l'Enfer et le supplice du feu.

Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ الصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ[11]

Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum jannatun tajree min tahtiha alanharu thalika alfawzu alkabeeru

Ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres auront des Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux. Cela est le grand succès.

For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires),

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ[12]

Inna batsha rabbika lashadeedun

La riposte de ton Seigneur est redoutable.

Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ[13]

Innahu huwa yubdio wayuAAeedu

C'est Lui, certes, qui commence (la création) et la refait.

It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).

وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ[14]

Wahuwa alghafooru alwadoodu

Et c'est Lui le Pardonneur, le Tout-Affectueux,

And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ[15]

Thoo alAAarshi almajeedi

Le Maître du Trône, le Tout-Glorieux,

Lord of the Throne of Glory,

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ[16]

FaAAAAalun lima yureedu

Il réalise parfaitement tout ce qu'Il veut.

Doer (without let) of all that He intends.

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ[17]

Hal ataka hadeethu aljunoodi

T'est-il parvenu le récit des armées,

Has the story reached thee, of the forces-

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ[18]

FirAAawna wathamooda

de Pharaon, et de Thamûd?

Of Pharaoh and the Thamud?

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ[19]

Bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheebin

Mais ceux qui ne croient pas persistent à démentir,

And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)!

وَاللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ[20]

WaAllahu min waraihim muheetun

alors qu'Allah, derrière eux, les cerne de toutes parts.

But Allah doth encompass them from behind!

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ[21]

Bal huwa quranun majeedun

Mais c'est plutôt un Coran glorifié

Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an,

فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ[22]

Fee lawhin mahfoothin

préservé sur une Tablette (auprès d'Allah).

(Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!
