بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ[1]

Alam nashrah laka sadraka

N'avons-Nous pas ouvert pour toi ta poitrine?

Have We not expanded thee thy breast?-

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ[2]

WawadaAAna AAanka wizraka

Et ne t'avons-Nous pas déchargé du fardeau

And removed from thee thy burden

الَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ[3]

Allathee anqada thahraka

qui accablait ton dos?

The which did gall thy back?-

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ[4]

WarafaAAna laka thikraka

Et exalté pour toi ta renommée?

And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا[5]

Fainna maAAa alAAusri yusran

A côté de la difficulté est, certes, une facilité!

So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:

إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا[6]

Inna maAAa alAAusri yusran

Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ[7]

Faitha faraghta fainsab

Quand tu te libères, donc, lève-toi,

Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَب[8]

Waila rabbika fairghab

et à ton Seigneur aspire.

And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.
