Experience the Horror

I went through something horrifying, which I want to share today. I got married 18 months back and shifted to a rented apartment with my husband. We both are working here in Gurgaon. Normally I come home first around 7.30pm and my husband reaches late around 8 or 8.30pm. Every thing was going fine with nothing abnormal in that house. It was more than one year we were staying there and touch wood, we have found ourselves prospering at work, happy in married life and every thing else was just a bit more than perfect. It was first week of December 2013, I took a short leave from office at 4pm and reached my place around 4.45pm. I stay at ground floor, it has a separate entrance and the rest of the building has one main entrance. The other floors are accessible to us through a door in the hall which opens at the base of the stair cases. There is a small Mandir (where one keeps the Idols or pictures of Gods for worship) I have made at the end of the hall, just next to my bedroom. Coming back to the horrifying incident, I entered the house and locked the doors from inside. There was a power cut but that was not a problem as we had power back-up. While trying to put the lights on, I accidentally turned the TV on and inverter went off with a beeping sound due to extra load. I immediately turned off the TV and rushed towards the inverter in my bedroom to turn it on. Suddenly every thing became very dark, the little day light we get in the hall through the curtains didn't seem to enter. The inverter was hardly ten steps away but I couldn't reach it. I was getting lost in that little space as if the area had stretched. I kept walking slowly in the darkness little scared of crashing into some thing or banging my self against the wall. My hands were stretched out trying to feel objects near me so that I could get a clue where I exactly was in my apartment. Surprisingly I couldn't get hold of any thing not even my Mandir next to my bedroom. Finally I got hold of the door frames of my bedroom (which was a great relief), the moment I stepped in, I felt surrounded by some thing, what ever that was, they were quite a few in number. As I could feel them all around me. I remembered my cell phone, which I kept on the top of the showcase (at the other end of the hall) while entering the house, which seemed the only source of light. I wanted to rush for it but the presence of those things was so strong that I was scared to move in any direction, as I might crash into one of them and could not imagine the consequences of it. I started moving back wards with one small step at a time praying desperately. After a few steps I could feel as if someone standing at my back, so close that I heard some whispering in my ear. I couldn't bear it any more, so I turned and ran in a desperate attempt to save my self. I stumbled into something and thankfully landed on something soft (the Sofa). Before I could stand up I felt those things stooping down on me. Surprisingly my eyes were not getting used to the darkness, which is not normal. I tried crying out for help but only a low groaning sound came out. My body froze, I couldn't move at all, may be out of fear. I was horrified and prayed for help. Nothing came to my mind not even the name of the almighty. Tears were rolling down from the corner of my eyes as I was lying on my back. In my attempt to speak I kept on groaning. I don't know how I fell on some thing hard. The other I could smell old clothes and dust. I was not getting enough breath almost suffocating. Suddenly I saw light, very bright almost blinding me. I could barely see anything but to my relief I heard my husband's voice calling me out, He dragged me out of something. I don't remember any thing after that. When I opened my eyes my landlord's entire family was there and my husband of course concerned about me. When they left my husband asked me that how I got inside the Divan (box) bed? I was astonished because I never went inside the bed room, I stepped out immediately. One more shocking fact was both the doors were locked from outside when I clearly remember locking them from inside. Though it went in my favor, otherwise my husband couldn't have entered the house. My husband came home early that day because I was not answering my phone, which made him worried. When he unlocked the the door with spare keys he thought I haven't reached home, but fortunately he heard noises coming from the divan, when he opened it after sliding the heavy mattress, he found me to his utter shock and terror. To add to it the mattress was kept nicely, with bed sheet and pillows neatly arranged, the way I do it every morning. It would have been difficult for both of us to believe what we experienced if we were not a part of this incident. I still don't understand what happened that day and why. We are still staying in the same house (planning to shift) although nothing has gone wrong since that day. But I am not able to get over this incident. I worship every day just the way I did before this incident. Then why? Every thing has gone back to normal except me and the inverter. It still beeps off at times. When ever it happens I run out or open the door wide if I am alone, and wait for some one to come.

Father's Haunted Encounter

I am a descendant from a wealthy landowner's Hindu family from the Punjab, India. This incident happened with my father in 1981 when he was sixteen years old. My father unlike his other siblings was least interested in studies so he helped my grandfather in the family business; which was wine contracting. My grandfather owned twenty two liquor stores at one point but the whole family being orthodox never tasted a drop of liquor. My family home was in a town about sixteen km away from Sub Division Dasuya in Distt. Hoshiarpur in Punjab. It was late at night all the servants had left and my father was there doing the accounting. He looked at the time it was midnight! My father quickly packed everything and locked up the shop and started his Bullet. He was driving really fast as it was a chilly night and since it was 1981 his only source of light was his bike's headlight and the occasional streetlight. Midway through my father was getting close to a place where there was a railroad crossing on the side of the road not the middle. All of a sudden my father claims, he heard the blow of a train coming from a distance and saw headlights and he began to slow down until he stopped in front of the crossing opposite a peepal tree. He then said he saw his front tire go off his bike and it kept rolling back and forward in front of him, the train was coming closer... Jerk! My father jerked his head, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop except the sound of the night, no train and his wheel was okay! My father felt a breeze on his right leg. In front of him he saw a state bank of India which had a wall light he rolled his bike forward and went under the light, his wheel was fine but his pants on the right leg were ripped from his groin region to the ankle! What was this my father was confused. He started his bike and did not stop until he reached home. My grandmother and grandfather were worried sick! My father explained the whole situation, suddenly my grandfather's face had an expression, he said he knows the reason that happened; many years ago on that exact spot, two women who were presumably Sikh women, were hit by a truck there and died on the spot but no one performed there death rights so they still haunted that place. Now my family are Shaivities and we worship Shiva and Devi but also a regional child God called Baba Balak Nath who is an incarnation of Shiva and his son Kartikeya. My grandparents did not have a heir after three daughters so they worship Baba Balak Nath and were granted my father and followed by my uncle. The males in my family wear a raksha kavach of Baba Balak Nath and that is why my father was unharmed. Many people had this experience before and after my father, so the Sikh community holds a special service on the exact spot every year to appease the souls of those two women. Even to this day when my father drives on this road when we visit India, he always says a prayer when we pass that peepal tree.

Ghost asking for Cigarettes

The incident I am going to share here is my true personal experience which happened to me long time back. I came across this site few days back and thought to share it with other people who had similar experiences. So it goes like this: I had just joined the State Government Service and was posted in Mandala district of Madhya Pradesh (a state in central India and is famous for dense forests and wild animals). Now that district comes under Chattisgarh. The area I was posted in, was full of forests nearby and was in very much outskirts of the main city and as I was new in the service, I had to follow the orders from office blindly without any argue. So I had no choice for my posting as well. Moreover, I was a bachelor, so the place made a little difference to my lifestyle. The area was full of forest vegetation and there were very less number of people living in the locality. Also that place was very much infamous for a number of ghostly happenings, specially the area nearby a small bridge which happened to be located on the shortcut path between my residence and office. The local people used to avoid that way as they believed that the bridge area was badly haunted. As my residence was a bit far from my reporting office and it took quite a good time to reach there by main road, so I generally took that shortcut to save my time despite people forbidding it all the time. One more reason to take that way was I traveled during day time, which was supposed to be a safe time. But it happened one late night when I got an urgent call from my senior officer and he ordered to come to office as soon as possible. I again had no choice but to follow the order and go to office at that graveyard time, so I left at the earliest. As I was in hurry, I chose the shortcut way to go. After some time of walking when I was almost on bridge, I heard someone calling my name "Harsh" from back. In India, our elders have always forbidden us to look back at night when some unknown voice calls you from behind as they believe here that it must be some ghostly thing. Well that all depends on your belief in these things. And at that time I had nothing on mind other that reaching office as early as possible. So I didn't think of it much and looked back suddenly. There was a middle aged man coming out of nothing but darkness few meters behind me and was calling me by my name. (Let me tell you that the area was totally abandoned by local people and nobody even dared to go to that place even during day time. So possibility of somebody living there was totally ruled out.) I halted there only and was trying to make out if I know him. In the meanwhile he came to me and asked "Harsh do you have cigarette?" By that time I was totally confused how he knew my name as I couldn't recognize him at all. Suddenly I saw his legs and to my shock his feet were backwards (direction of feet at 180 degree from what normal human beings have). Again in India people believe that ghosts and witches have their feet rounded backwards. I had already heard it several times but saw it for the first time in my life and could hardly believe my eyes. By that time I was sure that he was not a human being as the feeling of his presence was very unearthly and the temperature around had suddenly dropped. It was chilling out there. I couldn't do much and was stuck there looking at him. He asked again "Do you have a cigarette?". I was startled and as I don't smoke so there was no chance of me carrying a cigarette. I said "no". The man told "OK no problem, you can go now but do bring me a cigarette tomorrow. Come here at the same time tomorrow, I will be here waiting for you. So don't forget to bring it." I had no other option than agreeing him and left the place. When I reached office, I told the incident to one of my colleague who was also a good friend of mine. He was a believer and knowledgeable person of these paranormal happenings. He told me that the man I met on the way must be the ghost of some man who was fond of cigarettes and probably had died around that place. But as he has demanded the thing, so it's really necessary to provide him with it or otherwise he will continue to haunt me in future as well. Now that I knew I met a ghost, I was trembling with fear and was really afraid to go to that place again. My friend assured me that he will come with me but will be standing at a good distance from that place as the ghost has called only me and he may not like somebody else coming along with me. Anyhow I gathered courage to go again. I bought a packet of cigarettes and a matchbox and went at the same bridge next night at the same time. My friend was standing at some distance which was actually a bit far but still I had a surety that someone is there at least. Suddenly I heard my name from back."Harsh have you brought the cigarette?".I looked back and the man's ghost was there looking at me. His feet were still backwards. God! Whenever I saw it a chill run through my spine but I was trying to be normal. I told yes and gave the packet and match box to him. He was very pleased to see the whole packet and said "thanks a lot, now you can go". He returned back and disappeared into nothing and once again I couldn't believe my eyes After he vanished I felt relieved a bit and without wasting a second walked towards the direction where my friend was standing. After almost running I reached the safe zone. My friend asked if everything is fine and I told about what happened there. We were relaxed now and left that place. After that incident, as long as I was posted there I never used that shortcut, even at day time. I kept hearing several incidents from other people as well about that area. I don't know whether I should believe in them or not but I believe what happened to me was something which I can say as "supernatural".

First Paranormal Experience

Just thought of sharing an incident which happened in Tirupathi long back. I was around 8 years old back then. My parents were not in good terms with relatives and moved to a house which is at one corner of town. I still remember the house and vicinity. It was two independent house compound at the dead end of a road. Next to our portion of house there was some free space with some plants and a well. Adjacent to compound wall there are farm fields. My dad is a very religious person and goes to temple every day and once there was some festival and they want to attend that. They didn't asked me to come as I had a small leg injury and after confirming with me that I am fine, they left around 6PM saying they will be back in 2hrs moreover as the neighbor's house is very next they didn't bother much and left. After they left I started playing some board game and slept like that itself on the couch. Couch is in the hall, next to it there is a TV and the kitchen is next to the TV. The kitchen doesn't have any door as such and if one sleep on the coach they will be facing entrance of kitchen. I woke up suddenly due to sound of TV. I thought I slept off switching on the TV and the very next instant I saw some movement in the kitchen and a big utensil which we use to boil water fell down. I was just trying to understand how that thing fell as it was quite heavy and was not at any corner of shelf and suddenly I saw large shadow on the wall which is between the TV and kitchen entrance. By that time itself I was scared and couldn't move. Then the TV volume increased by itself quite loud and the couch started to move a little. I got panicked unlatched the main door and ran to next house, banged their door and fainted. I came to sense next morning. Only we vacated the house after couple of weeks but my parents didn't discuss anything with me that time. After couple of years that house topic came and mom told that when they came back on that day the house was a mess, couch was turned upside down and all the utensils were scattered in the kitchen. There were couple of other incidents like water motor automatically getting switched on at midnight and some strange sounds which all made them to vacate the house. When mom inquired she came to know that one lady committed suicide by jumping into the well and other tenants also faced strange things. I had two more experiences (one of which is with group of friends and not mine) where I can't logically explain, but so far the above was terrible, of all which still makes me feel creepy.

Ghost Couple On the Clearing Field

The story happened about 20 years ago. I was working at Namakkal, interior part of Tamilnadu, India. At the time of the incident I came down to Villupuram by bus, public transport, on my way to Injamkuppam, a village about 30 kilometres from Villupuram. I did not know the route or the distance at that point of time. While I was working at Namakkal, I received a telephone from my house stating that my uncle in Injamkuppam has passed away and that I was to go and attend the funeral. I started from Namakkal and reached Villupuram at around 11.30p.m. On that night. It was summer and the sky was clear. I enquired about the bus to Injamkuppam and I was told that there is no night service to that particular village and that the last bus has left Villpuram around 10.00p.m. I asked one or two persons, who were standing in the bus stand about the route to Injamkuppam and could not get any further information. I came out of the bus stand and asked about how to reach Injamkuppam by catching a lorry or any other mode of transport. Nobody could give any correct way of getting to that village. Then, one of the shopkeepers told me that this Injamkuppam is about calling distance (koopidu dhuram in Tamil) from Villupuram and advised me to go to the cross-roads from where I could hitchhike to the village. I honestly thought that if it is calling distance, it would be at the most about 2-3 kilometers and went to the main road. I asked for the direction and started walking. I had walked for about an hour and there was no sign of any village in the vicinity. I was all alone in the road in pitch dark and now and then a lorry would pass by. I tried to get lift but my luck was against me. There were fields on either side. I was getting tired and thirsty. I started looking out for a hut in the fields where I could sit and if possible, drink some water. Generally, in villages, there will be a hut in the fields. But, in the place where I was walking, I came to realize that I was the only one person in the entire area spreading in all direction. At that point of time, I began to feel some unknown fear gripping me. I turned around me and saw there was nobody on any direction within my eyesight. My walk started slowing down due to fear and tiredness. The time would have been well past midnight. Suddenly, I saw a clearing in the field and there was an aged couple sleeping. I started walking towards them. There was a pot in the clearing with a glass mounted over it. I reached the clearing in the field and started walking in the direction where the elderly couple was sleeping. The old man got up probably due to the noise made owing to my walking towards them. I judged that he would have been well past 85 years but he was looking hale and healthy. The lady also woke up from her slumber and sat on the mat. The old man was eyeing me questioningly. I told him that I need some water and requested whether I could sit and take rest for a few minutes. There was a small wooden stool where I sat down. The old man gave me water and I drank the water. The couple did not speak and I told them that I got down at Villpuram and enquired about the village Injamkuppam and started walking towards the village. The old man started laughing and said in a somewhat weird voice, "Will you reach without my help. Don't walk to the village. Take a vehicle. Don't go walking and take my advice, otherwise you will be in trouble." The voice was stern and to some extent frightening. I gazed at them for a few seconds. I was shocked and looked down at the ground and closed my eyes for a few seconds thinking about the advice given by the old man. Then it happened. When I opened my eyes, there was nobody in the clearing. There was no sign of anybody to have been there. There was no pot. The clearing was looking as if uninhabited. At first, I could not realize that it could have been true. It was not a dream because I did not sleep and at that time and I still had the sensation of having drunk water. I instinctively got up and started running away. I would have definitely run for about 10-15 minutes. Then I saw lights coming from my behind. I stopped and saw that it was tractor carrying sugarcanes to factory. I begged and stopped them and asked for a lift to Injambakkam. I sat near the driver and started explaining to him what had happened. He told me that Injamkuppam is about 34 kilometers away from Villupuram and that he told me that especially place where I saw the clearing was called Kuppam and that many people have seen ghost activities. He told me that I was very lucky not have been harmed by the ghosts. When I write this narration, I still feel the fear even after such a long period of time and that had happened so far away. I still do not know why the couple had appeared, why they offered me water and why they asked not to walk and take a lift in the vehicle. I feel that they are benign ghosts. But the experience was shocking and still sends chillness in my spine.

Freaky Incident - I Had My Proof

After my first, I started to narrate the experience to all my friends as a paranormal event as and when we would talk about it. However, for me, it was still very unsatisfying as there wasn't any concrete proof that it was indeed a ghost. I came across many stories and many incidents from many people around but I still craved for that spine-chilling encounter which I have been chasing for a long time now. My ghost hunting seasons had started again and I would visit all the places I knew from the stories I heard in the search for something REALLY freaky but never came across anything more than the hot and cold spots, etc. This incident takes place a few months after my first experience in the year 2005. My friends and I would take frequent 2-3 day road trips and this time we decided to go to a village close by which was about 8-9 hours drive for a nice quiet vacation. All the days went by in a jiffy and we were on our last night on the trip and we decided to spend it on a circuit house (It's place which has many guest houses for Ministers and Members of parliament who come to stay in the village) which was a distance away from the main village and the area too was quite deserted. The circuit house is located in one corner of the village with a huge cliff on one of the sides. We were given a single room in one of the sides on the ground floor in which 5 of us were supposed to accommodate. The room was a small 20*30 place with two big windows and one king size bed next to the first window. The second window was sealed and was straight in front of the entrance with glass panes above the AC vent, which also was a little ahead from the feet of the bed. We returned from our sight seeing at around 8 pm and finished our dinner and after a few more hours of playing cards and stuff, we decided to crash around 1 am. I wasn't in the least bit sleepy and decided to watch a movie on my friend's phone. Half way into the movie I was almost falling off the bed and decided to hit the sack. It was pretty cool that night and very quiet as well. Just as I was turning in, I got this weird feeling that something was unwell and restless. After a few moments from then, I heard Payal (Anklet with a small bells which make a typical "Chhann" sound) sounds right outside the second window. It was partly funny and highly strange for such an occurrence even though its a very common accessory for girls in the village to wear but that late in the hour and around that place? It was very unlikely. So I decided to go and check it out. I reached the window and was looking out through the glass pane above the AC vent trying to figure out the source of the sound. The sound was as clear as someone was walking right in front of me. Back and Forth. But I was unable to see who it was! It was obviously dark but due to the moonlight I was able to see quite a lot, but nothing of what was making the sound and that is when it struck me that I might just be experiencing yet another paranormal activity! I sprinted across the room to fetch my N73 and shoot a video with flash. Before going to bed, I see the video again and it has captured all that was visible very well. (It is still quite freaky) I went to sleep, thoroughly content of what I had captured! The next morning I woke up and had completely forgotten about the video I had taken, until we start talking about Ghosts and spirits that people in the villages have experienced halfway through the journey. Smiling with joy of having captured something unusual I took out my phone and showed everybody what I had recorded and everybody was quite amazed, amused and left speechless. One of my friends, however, wasn't pleased or even amused and asked me to delete the recording right away which I did not bother listening to for obvious reasons. During the course of sharing the video it had started to rain very heavily and the roads were barely visible. The AC was on in the car and as a result, all of us decided to halt for an emergency visit to the restroom at the next petrol station. Within a few moments our car abruptly shuts off leaving us all clueless. Two of us decided to push start the car and we successfully managed that only to have it shut off again. This happened about 3 times and we decided to take a small detour to a famous resort nearby and call a mechanic. My friend suggested again for me to delete the video I had taken and I ignored it conveniently. We tried reaching all the mechanics in the area, including a service station, but none were available. We tried to figure it out ourselves, but have no clue of what had happened. Then, again, my friend suggested the same thing and frustrated of his orthodox lookout and waiting for 5 hours for something to happen, I decided to delete it. I called up my other friends and made them listen to the video and told them to ask for an explanation later. With immense disappointment, frustration and tiredness I deleted the video. Within 3 minutes of doing so, the rains that were pouring had stopped, the mechanic who was trying to reach us finally got through and fixed the car and we were off from there with my friend, who was suggesting to me to delete the video all the while, having a big smile on his face saying "I told you so". Putting this across as paranormal wasn't the way my friend (who's village we went to) would put it. He always said that it was just a coincidence but was never able to explain the sounds of someone walking outside our window. This was taken care of last year when his relatives came by to his place for a few days. In general discussion they asked about our stay at the village and my friend narrated our incident to them, and curiously, they asked him about the place we lived in. It was only when they found out that we lived the circuit house next to the cliff they told him what was there on the other side (Right) of it. It was a very old Graveyard. Many of the people of the village have had sightings, possessions and a distinct eerie feeling and hence many ministers refused to live there and instead lived in another circuit house in a nearby town. As an example of how times change, my friend who was a non believer then, does now tell our story as his own first paranormal experience.

GHOST OF KALLAVVA Ghosts of Kallava

The story which I am going to tell you took place in the city of Bijapur in India. I have not known the ghost personally but my grandmother and grandfather knew her very well. And due to certain incidents, the ghost became an integral part of our family as well. In India, you will find many dowry harassment cases all round the year. The woman Kallavva was also a victim of dowry harassment. Her husband and in-laws treated her very badly as she was from a poor family and her father couldn't provide enough money to them. She was forced to do all the work in the home, not allowed to travel anywhere, was forced to eat stale food, and was often beaten very badly. She had a young 1 year old child whose name I can't recall. She had only one friend in the entire city and that was my grandmother. Whenever she used to come to our home, my grandmother used to give her good food to eat, buy sari (traditional Indian dress) for her, counsel her and give her hope to continue on in her in-laws' home. This story is around 50 years old when the idea of a divorce was not very practical in India. After few years of torture from her own in-laws, the poor woman committed suicide by drowning herself in a well. But as she was drowning, she realised that she would be leaving her son all alone and so she called her in-laws to save her. Her in-laws, even after hearing the poor woman's screams, didn't rush in to save her and let her drown. Soon afterwards even her young child died crying for his mother. That's where all the problems began. Now, when her son died because of her in-laws' negligence Kallavva, who had come back as a ghost, turned mad. She decided to have revenge on all of her in-laws by making sure that no child is born in the family in the future. She had three brother-in-laws. She told this to her mother-in-law in her dreams. She dropped one of her brother-in-law's son off the roof of a building. The child became mentally challenged after the incidence. The second brother-in-law and his wife could not conceive a child even though they were fertile individuals. Scared that their family name won't continue, her in-laws came to my grandfather to ask him for help. We come from a brahmin family and my grandfather was a great pundit. He had faced spirits in the past and had released them from their bondage to the human life after death. When my grandfather came to purify their house and do some puja, He was hit by a hard blow and landed several feet away from the house. Then he saw the ghost of Kallavva coming towards him. She told him that she is not an evil spirit and that her in-laws deserve every bit of what was happening to them. She also said that she respected and adored my grandfather and that she does not want to hurt him and politely asked him to go away from the home. My grandfather, being the kind man he was, decided to marry off his own daughter, my aunt into the family. Kallavva wasn't evil. She could never hurt her only friend's daughter for her own rage, so she told my grandfather that she won't harm my aunt and the children born to her, but the others in the family will not be able to conceive another child. Moreover, she even came to my grandmother and asked my grandmother to buy one new sari in her memory every year and to cook extra food for her everyday. The sari and food she asked her to give to poor people and that she would feel better if my grandmother did so. She also warned my grandmother that if she chose not to do so, the firstborn in the family would face some trouble. Saying so she went away. My aunt gave birth to my cousin, a perfectly normal girl child few years later. Kallavva didn't try to harm her in any way. After my grandmother's death 8 years ago, my mom stopped cooking extra food for Kallavva. My mom is a doctor by profession and she thought this all to be a made up story. Soon afterwards, my elder brother fell sick of high fever. No matter what medicines were given to him, his fever didn't reduce. Doctors were also completely baffled by this case. One day my mom thought that it might be because of Kallavva and made some food especially for her and gave it to a poor old woman. The next day my brother was totally fine. This incident made my mother a believer as well. Even today my mom cooks extra food especially for Kallavva. She has become like a part of the family. She has visited my mother in her dreams twice to warn her of dangers and her advice have always proved to be beneficial to us. She is there somewhere amongst us. Always. I feel a strong feminine presence many a times around me, a presence which is trying to help me and make me feel better. I think the feminine presence is of Kallavva. That's all I know about Kallavva.

Ghosts In My Residential Hostel

This is my scary experience when I was studying my undergraduate course in India. It was the year 2003, I was studying in andhrapradesh, a state in India. First let me describe the hostel I was staying in. The Hostel is isolated from the city and has to one travel about 40 minutes in the outskirts to reach our college. This experience happened on the first day of my college admission. It was around 5pm. My parents left so I was not accompanied with my room mates. Due to heavy pain, I started walking to the toilets. Since it is the very first day the campus looked deserted. My heart started pounding due to the fact that no one was around me. Slowly I opened the toilets door. No lights. I was shocked. I heard some one tapping outside the door and within minutes the door was locked, I felt scared and was shaking with fear, out of no where I heard some one calling "kiiii...ran, kiii... Ran "bewildered I banged the door. But since no one was there outside, no one opened the door, still the sound continued even I am puzzled to hear my name being said by ghost. No one believed me. They treated me like I was mad. To this day I do not go to those toilets I go in the other floor in campus.

Grandma Comes Back

I came to stay in this house after my marriage in 2009. The house is a spacious four bedroom flat, located in central Mumbai. The house, building and plot of land was owned by my in-laws and plot was purchased by my husband's grandma in 40's and had built a small bungalow on it. In her old age she took up a project to demolish the bungalow and erect building on it to provide better accommodations for her growing family. However, the project ran into trouble and it took about 15 years to complete the building instead of 5. Grandma had to face a lot of problems with the builder and contractor and continued to resolve the issues until her last breath. The family faced a lot of trouble in this period and, as luck might have been, my husband's father expired within a month of shifting in the new house due to sudden and brief illness. The family was shattered due to the sudden death. In few years Grandma also passed away due to old age. In 2009 when I came to reside in the house, we were five members in the family, my mother-in-law Asha, my brother-in-law, Sachin, his wife Vinita, my husband Sameer and myself, and Vinita was pregnant with her first child. On warm Friday night we all were having coffee in our living room and just chit-chatting about the house and its problems, etc when we suddenly heard a sound from the kitchen which was similar to placing cup on the kitchen platform. We were really stunned as none of us were near the kitchen and were still holding cups in hand; also all the kitchen windows were shut and it was a breezeless night. Also all our cups were in a wooden cupboard which was shut and locked. Although we doubted that something was amiss, we dismissed it as figment of our imagination. I am required to pass through living room to use washroom at night and many a times I felt presence of an old lady sitting on chair in living room and staring at me. This really scared me and I used to run back to safety of my bedroom after completing business. My co-sister Vinita used to occupy room earlier being used by Grandma and she also used to feel presence of an old lady standing near her bed while she slept. Surprisingly none of the other members of the family ever felt these presences and blamed these incidences as figment of our imagination. Both of us agreed that we were feeling presence of Grandma's spirit, who had passed away before our marriage. Once late in night while passing living room on my way to my bedroom, I accidentally got entangled in curtain separating these two rooms and I felt as if I had stumbled on a male person (resembling my late father-in-law in physique), who was equally stunned and annoyed by my presence. Since this incident I am scared to touch the curtain especially at night, out of fear of finding/feeling someone there. These incidences had become like a part of our life and we had accepted it as routine; unable to justify them. In early 2011, Vinita, her 2 year old son Rahul, and I were alone in house on a Sunday evening as other family member had gone to attend funeral of a relative (in fact Grandma's brother). We were in kitchen and Vinita and Rahul were sitting on the floor facing hallway which leads to the living room. Our mood was grim and disturbed due to death in family and we were eagerly waiting for return of others when sudden Vinita spotted a figure of old lady passing the hallway and entering the living room and vanishing near dining area. She was too shocked to utter a word but Rahul immediately said that one grandma (generic term for old lady) had come in the house and was now in living area and traced the route she had taken, but there was not one in living room. This confirmed our fears about Grandma's spirit; however, rest of the family did not believe us and we stopped sharing our future experiences with them. Vinita shifted her bedroom and Grandma's room was now next to her new bedroom and at night she sometimes heard clear noise of walking stick and once even heard a stick been thrown at something. However, she never stepped out of her bedroom to confirm the source of noise. In 2011, I was pregnant with my first child and during first few months of pregnancy I always felt as if some person (old lady) was standing next to me and watching me. This happened so frequently that I changed the side of the bed on which I slept, but the presence continued. Surprisingly, after the birth of my daughter in 2012 these incidences have suddenly stopped. Many people feel that my daughter resembles Grandma (in her walking, speaking style etc) and she, on other hand, is very comfortable in Grandma's room (enters the room at night in darkness), calls our old servants by their old nicknames etc. So is this rebirth of Grandma?

Gurudwara

Little background, I belong to Sikh community of India. Gurudwara is home of our god Waheguruji or Babaji. My grandfather came down to India after India-Pakistan partition in 1948-1950 and my father was 20 days old that time. Back to story, my grandfather settled in a place called Aurangabad (which was a total forest at that time) in India and started his business as wood cutter. When my daddy was 11-12 years old, papaji (grandfather) used to take my daddy to forest to teach him how the whole thing works. Going to forest in the morning and coming back in evening with woods was their daily routine. And whole forest was their home now. Once, when both of them were winding up for the day, they heard some sound of kirtan (holy chantings or for better understanding, holy songs sung for pleasing (god) Babaji) coming from distant place. Both of them walked in that direction to check what it is. After walking for like 5-10 minutes, they saw a gurudwara there with Bhaijis (priests) singing kirtans, which was something out of the place at that time: a gurudwara in middle of forest. Both of them were wondering how come that they have never noticed it before. Anyways, both of them entered gurudwara, bowed their head in front of Babaji and said their prayers. They sat there for some time and when they got up to leave for home, a bhaji came to them and gave them kada parshaad (kada parshaad is holy offering to Babaji. It's made up of sugar, ghee and wheat flour. After offering it to Babaji, it is distributed among the people whoever visit gurudwara as a blessing from Babaji). My papaji took kada parshaad and wrap it in piece of paper, thinking that they will share it with all the family members after reaching home. They reached home, took their bath and ate their dinner. After that my papaji remembered about kada parshaad they got from gurudwara. He unwrapped the paper to distribute it among everybody, but as soon as he opened it, there was no kada parshaad there. Instead there was cow dung in there. Both of them were shocked and confused, could not believe their own eyes. The whole family was quiet and staring at them and they were speechless. Next day they went to same place where they saw gurudwara, but there was no sign of it, the whole thing along with bhaijis was gone. It was forest again. Papaji and my daddy passed away long back leaving this story of their experience with us. But nobody knows what happened to gurudwara, why my papaji and daddy were chosen to experience it.
