Graveyard

My mom, her big sister and her small sister were sleeping as grandma (their mother) was out of town. They were sleeping and the neighbor's daughter had come as she was pregnant. Suddenly at the stroke of '12' there were loud noises on the road, they (my mom and others) thought that she had gave birth to a baby. They turned on the light after 15 minutes and saw the road clear, so they saw the neighbor's house and the light was on, so they thought that they were the one who was laughing. They got back to Sleep but they could not because it was until '3'.They were fed up, but were happy that they could play with the baby for couple of weeks. They got ready and came to the neighbourhood and because they were in the yard, they didn't have to knock the door. My big aunt asked, "Where is the baby? Where are the sweets?" But the response was a laugh. They said, "For the baby, you have to wait for another week, And for the sweets you know." They were shocked! How could this be! They asked about last night and they also heard it, but there was no one on the road the sound was coming from center of the road, but there was no one. Then it was time of realization and it was that the ground on which were the houses built was actually A GRAVEYARD! There is always a presence of some spirits in this place and of course I have to mention the place and it is Karnataka, Kodagu, Virajpet. Well, this is the story of my mom, her sisters and the neighbors. I have to say that, If this happened to me in my childhood, I would freak out!

Ghosts Who Helped Me

My name is Prakhar and I am a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan. I am 19 years old. The experience I am going to share with you is something that happened with my dad back in 1992 when I wasn't even born. My dad often tells us about it. My mom and dad got married in 1991 and this is an experience of an year later. Its an entirely true incident, nothing fake. It was my maternal uncle's wedding and mom-dad and the rest of the family had gone to Bareilly (UP) to attend the wedding. During nightfall when ceremonies were about to happen, my dad suddenly felt sick and went to my maternal grandfather's quarter to take rest, which was alloted to him by the army. The quarter was located in the cantonment area of the town. Its not very populated and falls on a little outer. Anyway, my dad went to take some rest at around 8 PM in the night. He had some sleep and woke up at 10 P.M. When he felt slightly better and decided to go back to the wedding. Now what happened next is totally inexplicable. Since the distance of the wedding venue from the quarter wasn't much and my dad was feeling slighty better too, he decided to cover the distance by foot. Like I told you, the cantonment area was less populated and the road from the quarter to the venue of the wedding was a little lonesome too. Now when my dad covered half the way, the light went off. It was a powercut. Hence, all the street lights went off and it was pitch black all of a sudden. Anyway, my dad continued walking. He had hardly covered 100 metres when a jeep came and stopped by. It had two men occupying the front seats. Without looking at him in the eye, the driver asked my dad whether he'd like a lift to the wedding venue. My dad was surprised to know that they were aware of his destination. But since it was the only wedding in the locality that day, he assumed that its a normal thing. Anyway, he agreed for the lift and sat in the jeep with the two men. The venue was still more than two miles away. During the way, the two men neither looked at each other, nor at my dad. And the most eerie thing was that none of them uttered a single word during the entire lift. Generally people do talk a little to each other at such happenings, but they didn't. Obviously, my dad immediately got the feeling that something was definitely wrong with the two men. He just started chanting a little prayer until they reached the wedding venue. While on the way, my aunt and her husband crossed the jeep on there scooter and my dad called out to them. Shockingly, they didn't hear him although the distance between the two vehicles was not even 3 metres. Besides, the speed was very low too. Anyway, Finally there came a point from where the wedding venue was just hundred metres. The driver stopped the jeep all of a sudden. He told my dad that they wouldn't go further at any cost, and that my dad would have to get down there only. My dad was surprised but he couldn't have forced them to drive further, so he got down. Now when my dad turned around to thank the driver, the jeep wasn't there anymore. On the long road, it wasn't visible until far ends in both the directions. My dad got a chill down his spine. And as he tells, those 100 metres from the spot where the two men dropped him to the wedding venue were the most difficult for him to cover. Somehow he managed to walk to the venue quickly and narrated the entire story to my mother who herself had an interrogative look on her face after hearing what had happened. Today when my dad tells this story to anyone, people still get confused thinking who those two men were...

Is It a Poltergeist Activity

This is a story which I have been hearing from a very young age. It was experienced by my maternal uncle. First of all, he is a very bold person. When there was a rumour of ghost sightings around my house, he was awake all night to find out. He never believed in ghosts, until he had this particular experience. He was working in a baniyan exports company in Tirupur, which happens to be my hometown. He used to work late nights. It is a two-storeyed building with company above and the godown with large bales of cotton stacked below. People working in the godown reported that at 11 at night, they heard sounds of stone falling. When my uncle and others went to investigate, they saw stones of golf ball size thrown across the room. They were coming from the area behind the high stacks of cotton. There were no windows or doors that side (only 1 door on the opposite end) through which the stones might have come. They rushed to the place from where the stones fell to find nothing. When they returned to the other side, the activity started again. None could tell how the stones came in the closed place. It was his first personal experience... Nothing more happened there. Then one day in our grandma's house, the vel (holy weapon) kept in the pooja room (it was mounted on a mixer jar) started moving by itself. It was as if someone was moving it like playing with a doll taking careful steps. It was not a slopy surface and it did not fall while walking. Another experience was when my uncle was burning a metal plate. He threw it in fire and stepped back. Suddenly his hand caught fire. It was like something came out of the fire and grabbed his hand. Whatever the thing behind these happenings, I seek to find a logical explanation. This is my second story and I personally appreciate varied comments.

Knock, Knock, Knock, Who Is It ?

This incident happened in the year 2000 when I was preparing for my Exams (EMCET), Medical Entrance Exams. It was a combined study. My friend Venkat used to come to my home for study. During those days night life in Hyderabad was very low. Shops and malls used to get shutdown by 9:30PM, specially in my area. If it's 10:00Pm, then it's like a Midnight. You find nobody on roads, no street lamps. I stay in ECIL, which is highly populated and well-developed area now. I had my room and my parents used to go off to bed by 10:00PM max. Now back to the story. Venkat cannot keep himself awake for a longer period during nights. I used to stay awake until 2:30-3:00AM, so I used to wake Venkat before I go off to sleep. On this particular day, I had my dinner around 8:00Pm. My parents went to their room and I was waiting for Venkat. He arrived by 9:30Pm. The moment he came in, he started telling that he is very tired and will sleep early and will wake up early. I had no issues. He asked me to wake him up at 3:00Am. I switched off all the lights in hall and came to my room. We had a chit chat for awhile. Later, in few minutes, Venkat went to a slumber sleep. I was just reading books, it was around 2:30 AM. I was about to close my books and hit the bed when I heard something. What was it? I ignored, I heard it again, what is it now? My heart started pounding heavily now. It was knock on the main door. I went to hall to conform it, waited there few seconds, knock again. Now I was like paralyzed, because I did not switch on the lights in the hall and the switch board is close to the main door. The door was knocked once again. It was in the same rhythm every time. Knock was for 3 times in one go. It's like tak, tak, tak. Then break and tak tak tak. I ran back to my room, woke up Venkat. He just woke up and ignored what I said and went back to sleep. Somehow I slept off that day. Next day I was tired and wanted to sleep early by 10PM. Venkat was fresh and said he would be awake until 3:00Am for a change. Meanwhile I told him about what had happened in the previous night. Again he was not ready to listen what I was telling him. So I slept off early, Venkat was studying seriously. It was around 2:10AM, the same ting repeated. Venkat went to the hall and he heard the knock on the door, same rhythm. He took further steps and went to the door and turned his ear to the door trying to listen if there is someone on the other side. Suddenly the knock again. Since he heard it so close, he came running to me, woke me and started saying, "Whatever you said was right. Even I heard it." I could make out from his face that he was terrified and shivering. The next morning, I told my parents about what had happened. They confirmed with Venkat as well, so they decided to stay awake that night. My father waited until 12Am and went to sleep. It was my mom and my younger brother who were awake for a while. It was around 2:15AM when I heard the knock. I went to the hall and woke up my mom who was half asleep. She heard the knock twice, she started asking, "Who Is it?" No response, but the knock still continues. She is daring women, I should say. She switched on the lights, went to the main door and suddenly opened the main door. I was scared to hell, but nothing was there. It was dark. She went out and switched on the light outside. Nobody is there. She told, "There is nothing and you guys can ignore if it continues." That's what we have done. This continued for awhile, we ignored it. Now I don't seen anything of this kind any more. To date I could not understand what was it? Anybody any clue?

Lady On The Terrance

This one rewinds back to 15 years ago in the days when I was at high school. We are a one big extended family with a huge bunch of 12 cousins and every weekend we made it an attempt to unite at my grandma's home to spend some of our quality time together as one happy family. Let me describe the building where my grandma lives, which was Building No - I, and bang opposite to hers, stood building No - II. My cousin sister, whom I'm very close to, always used to complain about unnatural sightings that she used to personally witness from the terrace of the opposite building whenever we would all meet at my grandma's home every weekend. I, being a chicken heart already, always used to shrug off telling her, she was rather having a nightmare or imagining things herself in the pretext of making her and myself at ease. My cousin at that time was in her teenage years those days, catching up on late night sleep, movies, listening to music, hence she would always end up sleeping late in bed while I was always the one to grab my sleep whenever I could at every given opportunity. During the course of the night while she was on her Walkman enjoying to some good country music and head facing up staring at the star studded sky from her window nearby our bed, she was suddenly taken aback with something that left her in a state of disbelief. What she actually noticed was a lady standing towards the corner end of the terrace in bright white clothing with her jet black hair left open to an extent it touched the parapet of the last floor flat of that building (this was a 5 storey building). Obviously, in her sane mind, she wondered why would a lady want to stay up at that part of the night on the terrace alone, with her back facing my cousin's view and this lady staring at her opposite direction? This was one doubt that she had in mind, the other, when she checked to confirm the time when it was too late, close to around 2:45 am. My cousin ignored this sight for that moment assuming it was okay for someone who wasn't getting sleep just like her, to have them walk up to visit the terrace just for the heck of it or enjoy some cool breeze. While she ignored that and tossed herself to the side where I was asleep just to distract herself, her mind wasn't at ease somehow and for curiosity's sake, she decided to give it another look towards the direction of the terrace again from where she lay asleep on bed with me. This time what she saw was the same lady staring at the same direction of our window at my cousin sister with no face (like a deep hollow black look), holding a toddler who had just the length of hair as this identity. Of course, a toddler of 2-3 years cannot have hair flowing to 7 meters long, can they? This obviously came as a shocker to my sister who immediately woke me up despite the many attempts to show me what she had personally witnessed. The third shocker was when I was finally woken up by her, I saw nothing and no one on the terrace the way she did. Of course, I was mad at her, firstly for waking me up from deep sleep and secondly, I assumed it was a joke she was trying to play on me at that part of the night to simply scare me off. In the morning, my family realized she wasn't being herself and looked pretty disturbed from her normal well being, when confronted, that's when she discussed with us all about what she witnessed and that she meant every word when she woke me up too at night. Well, after that night, whenever we cousins met at my grandma's place for the weekend, she ensured she would get a bedroom that wasn't facing that building anymore in particular and slept with more family members in the room for safety sake. I personally wonder whatever that was which she experienced was true as my sister isn't the one to play such serious jokes on anyone especially pertaining to the supernatural. Hope this was interesting to you all, sorry for the lengthy description.

Madras Girl Possessed

When I was very young, maybe 7 or 8 years old, a peculiar thing has happened in our neighbourhood. We were living in the heart of the city of Madras. If you can think of what Madras looked like about 35-36 years ago, from the present improved city, we would be surprised. One of the families living nearby my household was a joint family. My friend, Manoharan, also lived in that family. It was a big family of over 13 persons with cousins, aunts, uncles etc living under one single roof. We used to have a lot of fun and the boys and girls of my age group used to play with each other. Elderly boys and girls would be among themselves. It was real fun to be with their family since our family was quite smaller in size. My friend Manoharan's cousin, Rajeswari, was 12 years elder to him and she also lived in the same family in our neighbourhood. They used to dine together, play together, celebrate together etc. Once, Rajeswari, went to a village to attend a marriage of her relative with some of the family members. When she came back, there was a change in her attitude. She started behaving like a man quite often. Initially, we never got used to that. But, one day when I was in my friend's house and they were sitting together to have their lunch. Suddenly Rajeswari in a loud and manly voice said, "Hi, I am hungry and I am going to eat." I could not believe my eyes, she ate all the things that were kept in that hall and everyone was dumbfounded. We, children, were scared to the bones. When I asked my friend, Manoharan, he said that this was happening for the first time. After she took the food, she asked for a cigar. Manoharan's father gave her a cigar and after she smoked, she fell down. When she awoke, she was quite normal and said that she was feeling hungry. By that time, it was well over half an hour from what had happened and Manoharan's mother and his aunts, started cooking fresh food for the rest. To my dismay, when the food was cooked, she ate like everybody and was her usual normal self. I was told by Manoharan's father that this continued for 3-4 times after this first incident. Later realizing that something must have happened to the girl, they called a priest to find out what had happened. The priest made elaborate arrangements and put kolam and asked Rajeswari to sit down in that kolam. We were seeing the ritual with all seriousness and fear. After some time, the priest started asking questions to Rajeswari. She did not answer well for the first 15 minutes or so and suddenly, we could feel that somebody or something in her body started talking to the priest. It said, "I am Muneeswaran. When she came to kattupakkam village, she was wearing a white half-saree, she was with her hair untied and I was in the tree and I wanted to enter her body because I was attracted towards her and I entered her body." Every one was shocked. But the priest continued and asked whether it would go away. To this it said, "Yes. I would. But you should give me a feast with non-vegetarian food, liquor and cigar. Then I would leave." The priest immediately ordered Manoharan's father and Rajeswari's father to arrange for the feast. It was a grand feast with all non-vegetarian stuff, chicken, mutton with spiced items besides a bottle of local liquor and a pack of cigars. We were witnessing with awe and to our dismay, it finished off the entire feast single-handedly and started drinking the local liquor without any hesitation. It smoked 2 cigars and later told the priest that it was satisfied and bade good bye. Rajeswari fell down and was unconscious for over 3 years. When she woke up, there was nothing unusual about her and she was her usual self. From that day on, her behaviour was normal and without any aberrations. But, for those 15-20 days when she was under the control of Muneeswaran, we were literally scared to go near her. Even after all these rituals happened, it took more than 2 months for us to go near her and started interacting with her. Recently, Manoharan, my friend and me, we went to Rajeswari's house. She is now quite old with grand children and we recollected the scary incidents in retrospect.

Murder in the Building

I was house hunting and very reluctantly so. My father was selling our house, the place I had grown up and as haunted as the old place was, it was still home to me and my ghostly friends. I guess it was time to move on. I needed a place urgently. I contacted a friend of mine and he said he had a place. So I told my dad about it and my dad said I should buy it before I even saw the place. Anyway, we came to check out the place. The area was awesome, very tranquil and secluded. I loved the pathway that led through the fields to a little house at the end. There were lots of birds I knew I could spend hours watching. We walked towards the building. As I set foot on the entrance I got a push back. I had goosebumps. A chill ran down my spine. I panicked. I told my dad we had to turn back and that I couldn't set foot into the building. My dad just glared at me and told me to check out the place. Trying to ignore the voice and my gut feeling, I reluctantly followed him. As soon as we stepped into the apartment I was overwhelmed with peace, though I was still preoccupied with the initial experience and feeling I should not be there. My dad convinced me to buy the apartment and I did. My boyfriend (now husband) and I began renovations on the place. A few weeks later we happened to meet the man who lived in one of the ground floor apartments. He was tinkering with his bike. My boyfriend and I had just pulled over in the driveway. The man looked up and nodded at us. We proceeded towards the building when he called out to us. We turned. He walked over to us and greeted us in an overly friendly manner. We were pleasantly surprised. He then asked us if we knew about the murder. We were both taken aback by the question. I frowned and asked him WHAT murder. He complacently replied, "The Godwin murder." I told that I had heard about that murder I did not know it was in this building. The man moved to the entrance and stood in one spot. "He was stabbed right here on this spot. These are the blood stains and he died right here on this spot!" He stepped on to the entrance just next to the fuse boxes. I got a jolt. "Are you sure he was murdered right here?" I asked him, my eyes as wide as saucers. "I was there. I saw it!" he replied a little gruffly, thinking I did not believe him. What was shocking is that the spot he had pointed to was the exact same spot I had felt a push back. I was overwhelmed with fear, pain and anxiety. A chill ran down my spine. A few months later I moved in. One night when I was going to bed one of my dogs was acting rather strange. She stared at a corner in the room, whined, gave a paw to the air and rolled over to get her belly rubbed. I got goose bumps. Later my neighbour told me that Godwin loved dogs. Another time I went up to get something from the roof of our apartment. It was sundown and I was feeling rather over-anxious. I ran to the roof, picked up what I had to and ran down. I felt as though I was being watched. I could sense something leaning by the doorframe and smoking a cigarette. I went to ask my neighbour about it and she told me that Godwin loved to sit up there and smoke. I stopped going to the roof at sundown after that. In spite of there being a murder here, this place is not haunted and extremely peaceful though the area is a little weird at night. Other than that it's quite ghost-free and I do love not having to live in a haunted house again.

My Encounter With a Lady Ghost

I don't know why it's so but it seems that I'm the only one in my family who goes through these experiences. It happened to me a few months back, when I was in Shimla (a hill station in Himachal Pradesh) with my family during my summer holidays. We stayed there in a house which my father had booked for 10 days. It was a strange and somewhat a frightening place. It was old yet larger. When I stepped inside that freaky house, I felt someone's presence. At that time, I was a bit scared. I tried to express my fear which I felt to my parents. But they were not really convinced. One night when I was still awake, I heard a voice of a lady who, I think, was trying to lull her child to sleep. The voice was so clear and melodious that I still remembered some of the wordings. But who was she? I went to look for the matter as I could not wake my parents up. I was shocked when I saw a smoke like thing coming out from one of the rooms. I moved forward to clarify the matter. Then again I heard her voice. But this time, the voice was more irritating and painful. Just then the smoke like thing took the form of a lady who was wearing a white saree. It happened so fast that it was just a blur. Everything disappeared and there was silence all around. After this incident, I pretended to be unwell as this was the only way which could compel my parents to go back home. And it worked. When I was back, I told everything to my mother but, like always, she didn't believed.

My Dog Came Back

This happened a few days back after my lab pup died. He was hit by a car in the evening when I took him for a walk. He was an adorable companion, and would welcome me warmly after I returned from work. Honestly, I forgot all my problems about office once I saw him. After his death I was really upset and used to think about him all the time. As I stay alone, he was my roommate. Joe (my dog) always slept with me in the bed. One night while I was lying on bed after coming back home, I heard scratching sounds just next to my bed. It was exactly like Joe did when he wanted me to take him out for a leak. I got up and searched the area, but I didn't find anything. I got even more upset and started missing him a lot. But as I was tired by the day's work I gradually fell asleep. But yesterday something really weird happened. As soon as I switched off the lights and went to bed, I again heard that scratching sound. But this time I didn't get up. After sometime, I felt like someone sitting on the edge of the bed and slowly moving towards me. I don't know why but at that very moment I called for Joe, the same way I use to call him from underneath the blanket. Then as soon as I called his name, it felt like someone just ran from the foot of the bed towards my head and sat on the pillows. It was the exact same thing Joe did whenever I called him to sleep with me. I immediately got up and switched on my cell phone's flashlight but couldn't see him. I really felt bad and was in tears. I felt as he came back to say that he is fine and there with me. I really miss him a lot and just pray that wherever he is, he's happy.

My Scariest Encounter

My name is Abhinav, I live in Himachal Pradesh, a small but most beautiful state of India. I belong to an Hindu family and hence we have beliefs in God, Ghosts and so many other things which we may not see or feel, but we believe in there presence. It was winters of year 2007, I was 15 and was recently done with my High School. I got in to Govt. Polytechnic College, Rohroo in Distt. Shimla. We moved to Tiny town Of Rohroo. It was first week of December, I was attending tuition classes of Math in the town. I used to get free at 8 pm, the my Dad use to pick me up. That day it was snowing since morning, after college I went straight for tuition. At 8 pm when I left the building whole town was buried under more than a feet snow. So, as all roads were also under heavy snow, there was no chance my dad could come to pick me up today. I decided to walk, it was nearly 5 km, but with the converse shoes that I was wearing, it was not easy to walk on that much fresh snow. Streets and roads were empty, there was no one on the road. It was bitter cold, I was all alone and was already too scared. On way to home there between was a section of road nearly 2 km, which went through the woods or as we say jungle, but that road had street lamps and they were ON. As I reached the woods I saw a man walking in front of me, I could see him under the street lamp next to the one I was at. I was glad to see someone walking, so I started walking behind him that way I knew I was not alone and hence less scared. Also I was walking on the footprints of that man as that way it was easy to walk on the snow. After 15 minutes I realized the depth of men's footprints was getting less and less on snow like suddenly either the man was loosing weight or something was lifting him up. I found that very weird, then there is a turn on that road (my state is in Himalayas, so I guess we all know how single narrow roads in hilly areas are), where there was river on left bank of road steep rocky cliff on the right side and we were also walking on the left bank. Just then I saw that man disappearing under the street lamp right next to me, as it was dark I was only able to see him under those distinct lamps. He wasn't there anymore, it was then when I realize that he was not a man, it was something else, something I always feared. I literally started to run as fast as I could, soon-after I heard squeezing of fresh snow, that spongy noise fresh snow makes when someone walks on it. Again I realized that I was not alone, there was someone walking behind me, I ran like I knew what was going to happen, I fell many times, I realized that thing was coming towards me faster than any human could have walk on 1 feet snow. In no matter of time I felt that thing right at my back, It felt like that thing was gong to kill me. Next thing I realized a touch a very cold touch, like my shoulder was naked and ice was on it. I was exhausted and I fell on snow again, this time stun with the fear I did not had the strength to stand again. I started crawling in the snow, all wet and scared. It was then when I felt two very heavy legs walking over my body, again the same feeling like I was naked and that thing could directly touch my skin, penetrating my jacket and sweater. Next thing I remember, I was screaming as loud as I could as I watched that thing go away from me, I couldn't actually saw him again but just the foot steps on snow. Then I remember waking up at neighbors house, they had called my parents. My Mum asked me what happened? I was still shivering and couldn't speak as my throat was paining, I hugged my mother and started crying, not because I was scared but because for an instance back then I thought this time would never come. Later our neighbors told us about an urban legend related to that man, saying I was lucky that I am still alive.
