This story happened in Goa, India. We were really happy to find a big house like that when suddenly things started happening. We are a really big family and my mom's family usually visits us. That night, all my cousins and relatives were home and after dinner we all were sitting in the living room talking, laughing and listening to my mom's childhood stories when all of a sudden my mom stopped talking. As she was lying down on the floor nobody first noticed anything. Then my dad realized that my mom had not just stopped talking but she wasn't even moving. My dad asked her what's wrong but she was just laying still and an impression on her face as if she was trying very hard to get something off her. She finally with a lot of effort said "YA ALLAH" (name of lord) when she stood up and sat on the couch. We asked her what happened and she told us that someone was trying to strangle her and she couldn't even breath or form words to say something. All of us were very frightened but we couldn't do anything as it was midnight. The next morning after all our relatives left my dad went to work as usual. Though me and my mom were afraid we told him it was okay as it was morning and if something paranormal would happen we would call him immediately. In the afternoon I went in my room to sleep for some time when suddenly I had chills. I was going out of my room when something just tried to push me and I fell on my bed. I could see someone holding me down. I shouted when my mom came running and as she opened the door the activity stopped. I told her what had happened and about the person I just saw. She called my dad and we immediately left the house for some days. After some days we came back thinking nothing would happen now. At night as my sister was doing some work on the computer when it got unplugged. There was no way the plug could just come out like that. My sister had come from Bangalore and she knew nothing about the ghost. She came to know the house was haunted and she was not a person who could get scared. She started shouting at no one saying, "I'm not afraid of you! You can do whatever you want!" She plugged the plug back into the socket and started the computer when again it got unplugged. She got so frustrated she started cursing the ghost. We came running and she told us what was going on. My dad said we could not stand living here anymore and every day it was getting harmful for us. We left the house and as I stepped out of it I felt like I was free, like I could breathe again. The encounter with that unknown person trying to kill me would always haunt me. |

Welcome readers! Here I have another paranormal incident which is experienced by my mom around one year back. We have a joint family of 10 members. We live in Mumbai. Around 5 year back we shifted to new flat in new constructed building. It's a huge flat of 2BHK. On first there is hall then passage to go in kitchen, bathroom & bedrooms. I must say I love my home. For readers information we performed all the "Vastu and Griha Paravesh Pooja" (rituals performed by all the hindus when they enter a new home) but it not helped us to remove one ghost from our loving home. My mom, dad, younger brother and I sleep in one same bedroom. Everything was going fine then one morning my mom told to us that she saw a nightmare in night. She explained her nightmare like this that my brother wants to go in bathroom at night and one weird, horrifying woman was stopping him in middle of passage. My brother started to cry for help and mom woke up to see what is happening. She saw a woman stopping my brother. First she thought she is me or my buwa (father's sister) who are playing prank with him. But at next the woman turned to her with her long teeth, danger eyes and with burn skin. She was a chudail (lady ghost). After seeing this dream my mom starts yelling (in real). My dad who is sleeping with her woke up to mom. We all thought that it must be some weird dream and forget. After some days my mom again sees her in dream. This time the nightmare was like this. There was no one at home. Mom is in bedroom and suddenly she saw someone is sitting on chair in hall. First she thought it must be my grandma but second thought came that no one is in home. She turned back with the same looks as previous. Again mom starts yelling. Dad again woke her up. One night she tried to tangle mom's neck. At that time even I've got woke up and heard voice of mom. It was a horrible voice. I have never heard such kind of screaming in my life. Her eyes were closed and she was trying to remove something from her chest. My dad and I tried to wake her up but she was not waking. After 2 to 3 minutes she opened her eyes and she was heavily sweating. At that night we can't sleep properly. Many a time she saw her in dream and also feel presence of her in home. None of us feel like this. I must say my mom is brave heart woman. She never gets afraid with these entire things. She was constantly seeing these dreams. So my father decides to inquire these things with Tantrik. He told that there was a home before constructing a building in which one woman did suicide by burning her. As my mom is an elder Bahu (daughter in law) in home. (In hindu society importance of elder daughter in law is more as she was the only person who manage her whole joint family). So chudail is trying to possess her but my mom never get afraid with her so she didn't succeed. After listening this Grandma recollect her memories and said that yes! Nearly 20 years back she heard that one woman did suicide by burning her in this area. (We are living in same locality just changed the flat) Tantrik performed some rituals in our home. Thanks to Lord Shiva... My mom didn't face her again. |

This was around 4 years ago, I was at Vidya's house when this took place, and there were 3 of us including Vidya me and another friend Shweta. At that time Vidya was completely obsessed with Ouija boards and was dying to have a seance, I was not very keen on it since I have read that only the spirits who reside on the lower astral plane can be contacted using the board and at times they trick you and enter our dimensions. Shweta was scared of it and refused to do it, but Vidya dragged us into it and we found ourselves up on the terrace of her house somewhere around 8 o'clock. Her terrace is pretty big with some beautiful potted plants kept around and apart from an empty clothesline; we had it pretty much to ourselves that day. We sat in a secluded corner so that the wind could not blow our candles off and started with what we wanted to do. Let me describe the board to you, it was a homemade one (Vidya had made it herself), it was a polished and uniformly cut rectangular wooden board with numerals and alphabets painted on it, and yes/no in the top corners, hello and goodbye in the bottom corners and sun/moon in the middle. We were using a shot glass as a pointer with a silver coin on top of it, so that we would know if anyone of us was pushing the glass as the coin would slip. We started by reciting some prayers, asking for protection and that kind of stuff. We arranged the candles in a circle around us and started, we had switched off the lights in the terrace so it was only the full moon and our candles providing us with light. We tried for half an hour by asking if there was anybody who wished to talk with us, if there were any spirits with us right now, etc. Unfortunately, we got no response, the glass refused to budge and I found myself getting a little disappointed even though I did not want to participate in the event, I sat back leaning against the wall with my hands wrapped around myself for warmth, (it was pretty cold and I had not worn any warm clothes and it gets really cold in December). We talked about some stuff like movies, guys etc. For a while and then decided to try one more time and go home if nothing happened this time. We had blown off our candles and had lit them again now, we were getting started, for the first fifteen minutes there was no response, I was getting really angry at Vidya for wasting my time in this stupid thing but didn't show it and continued what we were doing. Fleecy clouds darted across the moon, covering it completely, now only the candles were our source of illumination and I was starting to get a little scared. It was precisely at that moment when the glass gave a tiny jerk beneath our delicately placed index fingers and moved. I was scared but awed at the phenomenon as the glass slowly moved toward yes, we asked it a few questions about who it was, it answered that it was a man who had died in a vehicle accident, we asked if it was from the sun or the moon and on getting the response that it was from the moon (meaning from hell) we said goodbye and closed the session, we had had enough for the night and ignoring Vidya, Shweta and I got up. We hadn't noticed it but when we were talking with spirit, the temperature had gone down, it might have been the wind blowing but I thought I would mention it just the same. So Shweta and I were talking about how weird the experience was and what the heck had happened to Vidya that she had immersed herself in this kind of stuff when we heard her call us, she was playing with the board alone and had succeeded in contacting a spirit, we went near her but did not place our hands on the planchette and let her continue with her antics, I thought it was harmless. The next question she asked (to the spirit) was to prove its presence in the room, no sooner than she had asked the question, the glass shattered, shards flew on her arms, bloodying them. She screamed and got up, the two of the candles fell down as her legs knocked them down while the other four just died, there was no wind blowing that time. It scared us and all of us ran out of the terrace, we helped Vidya bandage her arms and she apologized to us, she said she just wanted to see if Ouija boards were for real or not. I just said that I thought they were not good at all, and the events that night had further cemented my opinion. We didn't want a random spirit wandering on her terrace so we ventured up again, with a lot of courage and said some prayers, used holy water which we sprinkled liberally in the corners and left. It was the first and the last time any of us had used an Ouija board, I don't know about Shweta since she moved to different city, but Vidya and I have never used it again and the board is still at Vidya's house buried under her old toys and board games and not surprisingly we are never tempted to use it again. |

This is my first and only story about ghosts. Let me give you my brief introduction. I am born and bought up in Aurangabad, by the grace of god, ours is a big family including 9 buas (father's sisters) and their families. This happened before 1970, years before I was born. One of my buas, let's call her Lucy, was married in Punjab. Her in-laws were middle class people. Once she was drying clothes on her terrace and she found a beautiful and brand new red color chunni (scarf for your understanding, the one we Indian females use to cover our head out of respect for elders of the family). She kept it for herself, thinking it has come flying from someone's terrace (in those days people use to hand wash their clothes and put them on ropes on terrace for drying. If you are from India or if you ever go to India, then you will see clothes drying on terrace even today). Anyways... Things were fine while the chunni was new but as soon as it started fading out, things went bad to worse. Like my buaji suddenly became very aggressive, rude and powerful and she started using abusing language in front of elders of the family. She started travelling to different cities on her own without informing anybody at home. In the beginning everybody ignored her suddenly changed behavior, thinking she will be fine again but things got worse. Once it was wedding of my younger buaa, and Lucy was also invited along with her in-laws for the wedding. In Indian weddings (especially in our caste, Punjabis) the groom comes along with a big crowd of all friends and relatives along with orchestra. They all come dancing and singing to take away the bride along with them to groom's house. Everything was fine, but as soon as Baraat (groom's side people and orchestra) came, something happened to Lucy. She started acting weird, she started abusing everybody, throwing all wedding stuff here and there. She became so powerful that she literally lifted a heavy wooden cord and threw it away. My grandfather and father, who were strong and 6 feet plus tall men, were unable to control her. Somehow they locked her in one room (but she broke the heavy wooden cum metallic door within an hour time). Other family members called some fakir (holy man)...fakir did something and calmed her down. Later on, after wedding, that fakir was called again and asked to help us getting rid of this Lucy's problem forever. He informed my family that somewhere a newly wedded bride died (in India, if a newly wedded bride dies, her dead body is make up just like a newly wedded bride, with all the make ups, jewelries, new red color clothes and many gifts and then her body is set fire along with those gifts). Somehow her chunni was flown to Lucy's terrace and she started using it. Now Lucy was possessed by the ghost of that bride who is upset with her for taking away her chunni and using it. Fakir took that ghost in confidence and apologized to her on behalf of buaa Lucy for using her chunni unknowingly and also asked for forgiveness and asked her to leave Lucy alone; the ghost demanded new red color clothes with makeup, bangles, sweets and red chunni should be gifted by Lucy to eunuch and she will go away. Same was done by Lucy and after that to until date nothing happened to Lucy. |

This is real story about me. I was around 10 years of age and my village in Calcutta (Kolkata). I love to play with my mother's sister daughter. It was summer season and I was enjoying my summer vacation after a long study from Mumbai. I had gone to my mother's sister house which is few kilometer away. As a strict instruction from my father to always carry torch along with me. I didn't do that and went away. While returning from my Mother's sister's house, I was traveling with my bicycle and afraid to cross a big jungle but still I had to do because I am more afraid from my father. I had to go anyway. My father gave a strict instruction not to cross a big maiden which comes in the way. But as it really a shortcut I had to cross. While crossing the maiden I saw in the middle a black witch standing in the middle of the maiden. To observe clearly I went a bit near to that witch. To my surprise I saw a big skeleton standing with her long dark hair. Though it was dark night but it was clearly visible. Her Skeleton was white and hair was really long. I threw my bicycle over there and ran in front of her and stop direct in my house. After telling my father he thrash me but asked me did I saw back. I denied by saying I was keening to come house. That day I could never forget. It remembered in my mind. |

Me and my mom sleep together in our apartment in 'Kolkata'. One night due to my office work I went to sleep late at night. I switched my laptop off and kept all the other belongings in their proper place and went to sleep. I was too tired that day and was feeling sleepy after a few moments I went to sleep. I closed my eyes, almost asleep when Suddenly, I felt someone blowing in my ear with great force. I opened my eyes to see who was blowing air in my ear. I found nobody there. This happened repeatedly three times when I was trying to sleep at the fourth time as soon as the someone started to blow air once again in my ear forcefully I started reciting god's name to save me from this evil and stop this. As soon as I completed reciting god's mantra. It just stopped suddenly, which made me much more terrified. The next morning I asked my mom if she as if someone was blowing in her ear to which she replied she didn't feel anything. As it was winter season our windows were closed and no fan or air cons were on. One night when my parents went to stay at our other house in 'Berhampur' in 'West Bengal' due to some work. I was alone in my apartment as I didn't get leave from my office. As it was March and very hot, I switched the air con at night before going to bed. Suddenly I felt that the room became too hot, I wake up and found that the air con off. I got up to check whether the current was there but the night lamp was still glowing up there... I felt so frightened but switched on the air con back on and went to sleep. After sometime I felt like someone was sleeping next to me. I could feel their breathing and warmth of the body. I was so scared that I closed my eyes tight and started reciting god's name. I don't remember anything after that... I wake up next morning and found no one was there. I narrated this to my aunt; she said that sometimes when she was staying in our apartment before we came in this apartment, she also felt the same thing... I don't know what it was but quite sure that it is too scary. |

Myself and my elder brother started seeing strange things happening in our bedroom only during the night after all lights were out. I was only 9 years old and my elder brother 10 a one year older than me. We started seeing strange shadows in our bedroom moving around. Personally what I saw was really freaky. As myself and my elder brother were both in one room sleeping but with separate beds... I started to see a dark shadow of a lady with a hood on her head standing near our beds. I got so scared and freaked out that I started sweating all over my face. This happened on day one. Day 2: The next morning I asked my brother (Terence) if he saw anything during the night he said nothing. Now it was day two this night that my brother saw it too. The image of the same lady that I had seen but this time we could see her mouth wide open. This time I really got goose bumps and freaked out badly, I started sweating even more all over. I cried out to my brother. He was asleep at first but after hearing my cries he woke up and I asked him if he could see what I seeing. To my surprise he said YES in fear. I pulled the blanket over my face to avoid it. I checked to see if it was still there and it was gone. Our bedroom door was always open at that point of time during both days. Day 3: The following morning we both told our mother about what we saw the past 2 nights. Our mom laughed at us as if it was a joke. We tried to tell her but all in vain. She didn't believe us. That night this time as lights were out... We decided to close our bedroom door but didn't latch it. After an hour I could feel someone watching us. I checked to see who it was... You will not believe what I am about to tell you...please...this is for real 100%. Our room door already opened half-way. I called out to my brother, after seeing the door opened he got scared. Now we both freaked out. What scared me the most was that I saw four dark (shadow type) fingers come across our bedroom door moving at the edge of the door. As the door was open I felt cold breeze blow on my face, I didn't bother to look in fear and just covered our faces under our blankets... This continued for almost a week... Day 6: This was the final day of our one of the scariest experiences we've ever had in our lives... The following morning we both tried to explain it to our mom... But as usual our efforts in vain... Mom laughed at us and told us that we are only imagining things. If we were imagining stuff like this how is it that myself and my brother could see such scary images at night? That too for continuous days? Coming to the end of our nightmares... It was Friday on day 6 after 12. 10am 1979... It started again... This time we closed the door shut but didn't latch it as mom told us not to latch the door or she would scold us both. So we shut it tight. After 40 minutes we were asleep. The door was already wide open. For some reason I just woke up and saw the door open... This time no fingers were at the door. It was wide open... Our kitchen was just at the end of our room... I could see shadows moving around the kitchen and touching our basket of fruits. I really started crying now as I saw this with a lot of fear. I called out to my brother... As I called him one shadows, a lady in the hood moved towards my brother from the kitchen with a wide open mouth and I saw it coming towards him... The lady almost touched my brother's feet... At that moment by brother screamed out loudly this woke up my mother... Our mom rushed to see what happened only to see me cry and my elder brother in fear. We told her this time in tears... And somehow our mom was not really convinced but for our safety she sprinkled holy water and had our house blessed the very next morning... After that... Nothing ever happened again... It was all gone. Now we have abandoned (sold it) that Building and living elsewhere in Goa itself. That's all I have to say... Those were one of the most bad days of my life and I hope will never experience them ever again. I am sorry to make this so long to read... But all I have to say is that ghosts do exist in this world and the only way to fight such spirits is by saying our daily prayers. Prayer is one of the best weapons we can use for protection from evil. It is Priceless and we have nothing to loose but everything to gain. I never miss out on my daily prayers because of Jesus Christ our lord... I am alive until today and safe in his care. |

Let me give you a little background before I start my story. I'm the youngest of three siblings with two older sisters. The older of the two (Anne) and I still live with our parents and the younger (Beth) is in college in another state. This happened the night before my medical college entrance exam. I studied until 10 and went to my sister's (Anne's) to tell her about my exam schedule for the next day. After that, we said goodnight and the moment I went out from her door, I heard my other sister (Beth) saying something. I couldn't make out what she was saying but I know it was Beth's voice. I went back into Anne's room and asked if she was talking to me but she said she didn't, so I went to my room and slept peacefully. The next morning, my sister (Beth) called me like she always did before my exam and I asked her if she was praying for me the previous night and she said she did. I don't why I assumed she was praying, I guess it was due to the low tone of her voice. That night, I studied until ten again and went to bed. After around 15 minutes or so, I clearly heard my sister's (Beth's) voice again. I could make out few works like "good health" and "faith". I was totally baffled at that point that I decided to call her. She didn't pick up her phone and called me back few minutes later. I picked up and she told she was praying while I was calling her. I asked her if she said things like "good health" and "faith" and she said she did. I told her to be truthful and she even told me the exact lines she said in her prayer. I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions and I started crying. I'm neither a religious nor a spiritual person, but that experience was too strange not to share. I still don't know why I was crying so much that night. I would like to know if anyone has faced the same incident. Any explanations will be welcomed, I need some enlightenment here. |

India is a country having numerous forts. Many of them have been in existence since time immemorial & have played a very important role in shaping the history of the country. The state of Maharasthra in India is house to many such forts. Many of these are located in the Sahyadri Mountain ranges and are a trekker's paradise especially during the monsoon and winter seasons. Since these forts have been the scene of large scale death, destruction and carnage during battles between warring factions for supremacy, some of these forts also have a reputation of being haunted. This incident happened in the early nineties when I was in college. It was December and exams were just over. We had a couple of weeks to go before start of the new term. Four of us namely I, Paru, Nikhil & Kannu decided to go for an overnight trek to one of the old deserted forts to unwind, relax and enjoy nature in general. We had heard some stories of the fort being haunted but nevertheless decided to carry on just for the experience. This fort is situated around 150 Kms from Mumbai and is around 1400 meters above sea level. It is a six hour trek to the fort. We started at around 7 a.m in the morning & were fully geared up to spend the night on the fort. Nikhil had brought a gas stove and other food items required for cooking. We had even planned a barbeque later that night. The weather was very pleasant and the cool breeze really refreshed us and made the trek less tiring. We reached the gates of the fort at around 1.00pm in the afternoon. There were a couple of other trekkers like us on the fort. They were very friendly and we soon began chatting. They told us that they had trekked to the fort a couple of times before but always left before sundown. When we told them of our plans to stay there overnight, they looked concerned and told us about reports of spirits and hauntings which were reported earlier. When they found that we were determined to spend the night there, one of them insisted that we stay in the temple located at the entrance of the fort which was considered safe by locals. The scenery from the fort was breathtaking and Paru along with Nikhil had a great time photographing nature at its best. After a great lunch we rested for sometime and began looking around. The fort was huge with a lot of items of historical significance. We also located a pond which would fulfill our requirements for water required for drinking and cooking. It was 6.00pm and the sun had nearly set. Our trekker friends had left an hour back wishing us best of luck. We had already kept our stuff near the temple where we could cook & spend the night after dinner. My friends suddenly had this crazy idea of going to the pond and enjoying a nice swim. Though I am a good swimmer, I was apprehensive since it was getting dark & the waters were unknown. The element of risk involved prevented me from joining them and I sat outside enviously watching them splashing around. This is when something strange happened. Kannu felt something grasp his leg and pull him into the water. He immediately shrugged himself free and looked a bit shaken. Though concerned, we tried to convince him that his foot might have got entangled in the weeds in the water. I asked everyone to come out immediately so that we could head back and start preparations for dinner. While walking towards our camp Kannu told us that he was suddenly feeling very cold & started shivering. By the time we reached the temple, his teeth were chattering and he had developed high fever. All of us were surprised to see this since Kannu is a robust guy who seldom falls ill. We quickly prepared a bed for him inside the temple, covered him with a blanket to keep him warm and gave him some medicine. Kannu was delirious for some time talking gibberish but soon fell asleep. We then started preparations for our dinner. The plans for a barbeque were cancelled and we decided to have a simple dinner consisting of rice and lentils and hit the sack. By around 10. 00 pm we finished our dinner which tasted so good since we were all really famished after our long hard day. The three of us sat down chatting by the temple and the topic soon drifted to the hauntings which were reported earlier. Nikhil is a complete non believer in ghosts & the paranormal and scoffed at the reports. He also told us that he could go to the pond right away, enjoy a smoke and spend half an hour there without any fear. Despite my pleas he left us promising to return in exactly half an hour. Paru and I were concerned about the whole thing but couldn't help it. We started chatting about the breathtaking scenery from the fort and forgot about Nikhil. Time passed quickly & when I glanced at my watch, it was 11. 45 pm. It was around an hour since Nikhil had left and we hadn't heard from him. Irritated at his irresponsible behaviour and being concerned about his wellbeing at the same time we immediately set about to find him. As we neared the pond we saw Nikhil lying near the water. From a distance it looked as if he had dozed off. When we came near, I glanced at his face. Believe me, what I saw next still sends a shiver down my spine. He was lying on his back with his eyes wide open as if in a trance, staring straight at the sky. Fearing the worst we shook him vigorously to try and get him out of his stupor. Fortunately for us he woke up and seemed fine. He started sweating profusely & told us what exactly had happened. After leaving the temple, he came to the pond and was enjoying his smoke. He suddenly got the feeling that he wasn't alone. He saw something move in the bushes. He brushed aside his fear saying to himself that it might be a stray dog who had made the fort his home. It also came to his mind that Paru and I might be playing a prank on him. He ignored the movement and continued smoking. He suddenly felt an icy cold hand on his neck. He swung back instantly and saw that it was a woman dressed in a red saree, horribly disfigured, unkempt hair swaying across her face & a creepy smile on her face looking straight at him. He had no recollection of what happened later until the time we woke him. There was an outline of three fingers clearly visible on Nikhil's neck where the cold hand touched him. Without wasting any more time we ran to the temple. We were relieved to see Kannu sleeping soundly. My watch showed the time as 12. 30 am i.e half an hour past midnight. We entered the temple and closed the door securely from inside. All of us were visibly disturbed after what had happened. Out of sheer exhaustion, we were about to fall off to sleep when we suddenly heard a knock on the door. We did not have the courage to open the door but the knocking still persisted, slowly at first & becoming more and more vigorous later on. Someone was banging the doors and windows of the temple. We heard a woman's voice abusing us & daring us to come outside. Nikhil slowly opened the window in an attempt to see who it was. There was no one to be seen but we could clearly hear the woman's voice abusing us. After around 20 minutes the banging stopped. Just when we felt that the worst was over, it started all over again. This time the banging & abuses continued with increased intensity for around forty five minutes before it finally ceased. All of us had become nervous wrecks. It seemed that the only thing which was preventing the evil entity outside from coming in was the presence of the deity inside the temple. None of us could sleep. All of us sat around the deity and prayed hard in such a way that we had never done before. Getting out of the fort safely was the only thing going through our minds at that time. Then at around 6.00 am in the morning there was a knock on the door. This time it was a man's voice asking us to open the door. Gradually mustering up courage, I opened the window and was relieved to find that it was the temple priest who had come there as usual to perform his religious duties. He was surprised to find us there since no one generally stayed in the fort after sundown. We related our account to him and he confirmed that a few others too had similar experiences during their stay. He told us that he had been coming to the fort since he was a child but personally did not experience anything weird inside the fort. Since the start of our ordeal, Kannu was the only one person who was sleeping comfortably inside the temple and did not wake up even once. In fact when we woke him in the morning he was feeling fit and fine unlike the previous day. He had absolutely no recollection of our ordeal inside the temple. We quickly packed our stuff and immediately started back. Nikhil was lucky to have escaped unhurt. This incident left a deep mark on him & completely changed his perspective of looking at paranormal occurrences. He recovered soon and the marks on his neck vanished within a week. Kannu still doesn't remember anything from the time we came out of the pond until next day morning. Paru & I still meet up occasionally and sometimes discuss as to what might have happened if we had opened the door of the temple that night. |

I'm Aniruddha from West Bengal,India.I live in a little city named Rampurhat. Its really small and not well advance also! Anyway here's my story starts: |
