This incident happened when I was around 6-8 years old, but still I remember it clearly. I used to live in my maternal house with my Grandparents as well as my parents. There was a servant in our house who was from my grandfather's village. Once his sister in law (who used to live in village only) suffered from jaundice and therefore came for checkup to our city. She was staying at our home only. She had 2 small children, a girl and a boy. Girl must be 4yrs older and the boy was around 2.I still remember it when she was badly ill. Her checkup went on for long time but her condition was getting worse day by day. And finally one day she passed away. I was too small to think about her death. Time passed away and things went on. One night, I was sleeping with my parents. It was a winter night. At around 3-4 am I woke up and what I see is this woman hanging in air at the edge of my bed. It was a smokey kind of figure and a bit floating in air. She was having only her upper half of the body, and was wearing a white saaree. She looked very same as she used to, when alive. She was smiling at me. I was thrilled out and put up my blanket over me and didn't take it out until morning. I don't know the reason, why I saw her. Its not that I was too much attached to her or something. But what I saw was real. Many years after I told this to my mom also. She said that these things happen sometimes, so better don't give them much attention. But even today I get goosebumps when I remember that incident. |

I would like to share a story from my father's life. My daddy was young when this happened. It was hot summer day, when he and his friends decided to go for camping in the forest. All his friends were engaged in the camping but some of his friends including him, decided to explore the place. They lead away from the camp to the middle of the forest and after a long distance they saw a huge tunnel. They lowered their feet into the tunnel. It was little dim. While they were moving on, they heard a loud shrill. All the four guys turned back and saw an old aged man. His face was somewhat unforgettable which daddy still remembers. His arrival had broken the enthusiastic atmosphere. And then that instant, the old man warned them not to move ahead in tunnel and mentioned a dead body lying at the end of tunnel. But their curiosity made them to move ahead. When they reached at the end of tunnel, they were shocked by seeing the dead body. It was the dead body of the old man to whom my daddy and his friends met previously. They immediately turn back to see that old man. But he was vanished, though the tunnel was too long to escape in this little span. I still wonder how this strange incident had taken place. How the old man vanished from the tunnel? |

I'm Srikanth from Andhrapradesh which is a state in India but I used to work in Bangalore, Karnataka. I'm 25yrs old, I'm very new to write a story here but I'm a regular reader and visitor of YGS stories. Some stories here are really creepy and gives chills. The story which I'm going to write here was not my first encounter but it was the best creepy experience in my life which gives shiver still today. My mom used to tell me about her experiences about ghosts. She passed away one and half year ago. It happened when I'm working in a BPO Company. I was living in a Christian colony with three roommates in a three story building which was newly built at that time. In my colony there was a cemetery in the entrance. One day one of my friends came from my native to spend the holidays with me in Bangalore, he stayed for a week. Finally he wanted to leave and told me so I made arrangements like reservation. Boarding time was 10:15pm hours to drop him to the main bus stop me and one of my roommate went and we gave him send-off. Due to heavy traffic at night I didn't take my bike so we went by bus and returned by cab after the send-off. From the main road to my room it is about 45 minutes walk. We looked for an auto rickshaw but nothing we found because it was late night ie about 12:05am. So we were walking slowly and talking simple matters and enjoying the climate. Everything was good before we enter into our colony entrance and we passed the cemetery without noticing the cemetery. Suddenly my friend asked me to look forward. When I gave a look, I wondered one little girl about 5yrs playing near a newly constructing house near the road which we are passing by, and I've noticed the girl's rear image with the help of some street light's light. She wore a white gown and one man standing nearby 5 to 6 meters away and he also facing his rear to us, he had a hat and suite. My roommate really likes to play with children so he slipped off the road and going near to the girl to squeeze her cheeks. He called the girl, "Hi, sweetie, what are you doing here in this late night?" Then she turned towards him and then I noticed the girl's eyes were completely black without having the white part of the eye and she was wrapping her hand and tried to hold my friend's hand. Suddenly, I yelled at him, "Macha (it's a friendly word), come here." By hearing my voice the man with the hat suddenly disappeared from where he stood and appeared nearby the girl. My roommate screamed like hell and fell back on the ground and I ran towards him to rescue. I hold his hand and dragged him until the road. He was shivering like anything, I also got fear but nothing I can do. Then we looked at the point where the girl and the man stood. They vanished in front of our eyes. We ran from there like anything. After we reached to our room also my roommate shivering very badly. Remaining roommates, frightened by seeing his condition, asked me what has happened. We didn't tell anything to those guys and we slept. Next morning he got full heat over his body which scared me. I told him nothing will happen be brave. Later I went nearby tea stall and told everything to that stall owner uncle since he was very dear to me. And he told me that those two who happen to appear in front of us were a constructor from England and his granddaughter who used to stay at the same place in a big house. One day the girl was playing near the house and she came to the road and after one car dashed her and ran away, the girl died. After the death of his granddaughter, the grandfather became ill and soon with in a span of 9 months he also died, since he loved her so much. After that the family moved to England. It happened 18yrs ago. A lot of people noticed both playing by midnight at the point. He told that and gave one black thread to me and told me to tie this to my roommate's hand, nothing will happen. I did what I was told. And form then it gives me chills to pass the road. And I really felt pity for what has happened to the little girl. |

This happened about 3 months back. I am not even sure about what I saw but wish to share it anyway. My father is a trustee for a temple here. They were holding a kumba abishekam which is a sacred event where copper pot like structures in the shape of lotus buds are blessed and fixed on the temple towers. There were lots of people assembled for the ceremony. The priests carried the pots and climbed the tower. We were all standing below and watching them, when I felt like somebody was watching me. Everyone was looking up at the tower and I scanned the crowd and noticed a young guy about my age or slightly older facing away from the tower and looking straight at me. What was odd was his clothes. Usually people dress up for such events. He was dressed in a grey t-shirt and a pair of grey shorts. He just kept staring at me, like he wanted to tell me something. Everybody else seemed oblivious to his presence. I got unnerved and looked back at the tower and then looked down at the guy and he sill hadn't shifted his position or gaze. It must have been some 15 minutes. The area around him started emptying as people moved to partake of the offerings. There was no one standing near him. Then a man crossed in front of him. It is to be noted that the temple is small and there were no people near him. As the man crossed in front of him, he disappeared! There was no way he could have gone anywhere. I scanned the crowd thoroughly. He wasn't there. He would definitely have stuck out in the crowd owing to his attire. He couldn't have left the temple without passing me, as I was standing right at the entrance. One moment he was there and the next he wasn't. It sometime makes me feel that maybe he tried to tell me something, but as I was hesitant in responding he left. No one else seemed to have noticed him when I asked the people who were with me. |

This story was told me to me by my father who's own father lived in a remote village in uttar pradesh. My grandfather was an advocate who lived in a village and often had to travel to the city for cases, the cities were all at long distances from the village and about a day's drive away. So when he needed to return he would take a bus that would drop him at the nearest bus stand to his village that could be about 10kms or so away, the rest he would have to walk. Now my grandpa was the very typical Indian man who always had 3 things with him: a long bamboo stick to ward off animals or any sort of trouble, a pair of scissors and a talisman around his neck. On a full moon night he was walking home around 12:30 and villages get very deserted around this point of time and he was pretty much walking along on fields on a dirt path to his village which was a few kms away for which he had to take a left. Now beyond these fields lay a mango groves, and beyond the jungles. Now lemme tell you this fact that mango groves are extremely shady and haunted places according to Indian lores with tall trees very little sunlight during the day dank and dark. People are strictly not allowed to enter these at night. Now suddenly my granddad realises that a few yards before him a woman is walking as well, initially he just felt that ok there's someone there as well, but then it struck him that in India women back then would seldom get out of their houses after sunset and this was past 12:30 in the middle of nowhere, he just thought that this woman was not quite right, suddenly he noticed that he had unknowingly passed the left to his village and was following the woman and then he saw that she is walking into the mango grove... He realised she was taking him there so he immediately took gods name and said "la haul wa la quat" which is supposed to ward away evil... As soon as he said these words she turned around to look at him and said and I'll quote like my dad quoted to me "galayi se gathaee hathaeen tho hum hathaeen." That's the common village language they call dehaathi in English it means "remove your talisman from your neck and I'll show you." He was a man with some guts he just turned around praying chants and walked back to his route calmly. |

Manish, a close friend of mine received a call one day from an elderly couple requesting his help with regards to some strange happenings in their house. Manish who is an engineer by profession incidentally dabbles a bit in the field of occult, helping needy people with problems pertaining to the paranormal. Mind you, he doesn't charge a penny for services rendered to clients. He does it selflessly and believes that he has a gift from God which he feels should be shared selflessly with everyone. I have been with him a couple of times when he has gone to clients and am amazed with his proficiency and sincerity.
Coming back to my story, the callers were the Nair family who were experiencing strange things and genuinely felt that Manish could help out. Manish asked me to accompany him since I had expressed interest in actually seeing his approach in such cases. We reached Mr. Nair's house at around 12. 00 noon. Just as we were entered Mr. Nair's house I saw a strange look in Manish's eyes. It surely meant that there was something amiss in the house. We looked at each other and nevertheless carried on without any words being exchanged between us. Mr. Nair was a respectable person who had worked as a scientist with the Govt. Of India for close to 35 years. He had retired from service around 6 months back and had been given a warm farewell by his colleagues. All the incidents started happening after his retirement only. Post that he had led a fairly comfortable life with his wife and kids. Manish asked Mr. Nair to show him around. The house was aesthetically designed. Mr. Nair wholeheartedly gave the credit to his wife who was an interior designer. One thing which stood out among the rest was the prayer room which had a beautiful Nataraja Idol.
Nataraja incidentally is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the cosmic dancer who performs his divine dance to destroy a weary universe and make preparations and to start the process of creation of the same afresh. The two most common forms of Shiva's dance are the Lasya (the gentle form of dance), associated with the creation of the world, and the Tandava (the violent and dangerous dance), and associated with the destruction of the world. In essence, the Lasya and the Tandava are two aspects of Shiva's nature, for he destroys in order to create, tearing down to build again.
Manish who was concentrating on every minute detail in the house suddenly stopped in his tracks and stood spellbound staring at the Nataraja idol in the prayer room. He quickly regained his composure and went around seeing the rest of the house. We came back to the living room and Mr. Nair told us about the strange things which had happened in the past couple of months. He seemed very depressed and told us that ever since he had retired nothing seemed to go right for the family. His mother who was hale and hearty suddenly died due to a freak accident caused by a fall in the bathroom. His father was found dead one night in his favorite reading chair. His eyes were wide open in fear as if he had seen something which immediately led to his death due to massive heart attack. Mr. Nair was about to go on with his woeful tale when Manish suddenly interrupted him and pointed to the ceiling fan in the living room. He looked visibly disturbed and asked Mr. Nair whether there was an incident which had any relation to the ceiling fan in the room. That is when Mr. Nair broke down and told us that this was the same fan where his son Kannan, a bright engineering graduate had committed suicide by hanging himself. There was no particular reason why a bright and cheerful person with things going his way, both professionally as well as in his personal life should take a drastic step.
His family, which until recently had 6 members was now reduced to only 3 members. Each victim dying suddenly and unexpectedly in the last 5 months. Mr. Nair who now lived with his wife and teenaged daughter Sudha felt deeply for their safety and had hence contacted Manish. Manish paused for a while and then spoke. The confidence with which he spoke gave the impression that he had understood the problem and would be able to resolve the same.

Pestered by the remorse of my friend's grandpa, we triggered out a way to find out what he wanted from him or what he was trying to put across. The solution was the Ouija board. We attempted it one fine Saturday evening. My friend Jabez was very new to this, he hesitated a bit but later put up some guts and we sat at it. We started it, after awhile we knew that we had initiated another problem. We had his neighbour with us in the process. All the three of us were at it. The problem arose when we tried to contact his grandpa but instead made a doorway for another spirit. We didn't realize we had conjured up some other spirit until the neighbor started laughing out loud and simultaneously crying, startling the two of us seated right beside him. Though we didn't get a message from it, we could absolutely feel its presence inside the room. The guy started crying out too loud, and we heard him talk like a woman, this confirmed that it wasn't his grandpa. His crying intensified. Terrorized by this, we skipped and wrapped the boards back, trying to get him out of trouble. We left the room and put him to sleep. He did sleep. This night was the first ever that I witnessed the works of a poltergeist. We started hearing things, seeing things flying around and things moving right before our eyes and to our shock some elements defying gravity. My friend almost lost it, I could see him shivering, I knew we had worsened the situation and had welcomed something else. The cots started shaking too. The neighbour who was upstairs came down, his eyes were like flames of fire, looking straight into my eyes and stood staring for a very long time. In an instant he charged towards us and pinned me down. I couldn't believe he had so much strength in that petite body. The blow he gave me left me unconscious, it was also because of the impact of my head hitting against the solid floor. I blacked out. I was awoken by Jabez's parents, the next day morning. They misunderstood the whole thing, thinking we were all lying down drunk. The neighbour had left. However he was seriously in trauma for the next few weeks. Jabez and I were equally troubled too, except for the fact that my physical injury turned my attention from it. This didn't end with this, now Jabez's family is facing serious problems and can't enter a room alone. We tried to figure out the problem but ended up bringing up a new one. The problem gave over after we called for a priest and he blessed the home and some of the locals did some rituals. Every thing's back to normal except for the fact that Jabez's neighbor reacts very strangely. He seems to have completely forgotten the two of us. He doesn't smile at us or doesn't even react at us. We screwed up totally; at least he's getting better now. But since this we have not encountered anything with his grandpa. |

Here I am going to narrate a paranormal incident which my mom had experience way back in the summer of 2004. My mother had two sisters, both married. My elder aunty worked in a renowned and one of the high-ranked universities as a senior Librarian. Her husband was lecturer in applied sciences in the same university. She had one daughter named Tanya and a son named Chirag (both the name is changed). Her elder daughter was pursuing engineering from the same university and her youngest son Chirag was in the 12th standard. My aunty often comes to visit us in her summer vacations. We enjoyed her company as she always had something new to tell like stories or anything new related to the university etc. I especially used to wait for her visit as my aunt carries some authentic and tasty homemade achars (pickles) and murabbas (sweet jam pickle) of which I am fond of. Coming back to my story, as I have mentioned above that it was summer, my mother used to make some papads (it is a thin, crisp disc-shaped Indian food typically based on seasoned dough made from black gram). One evening, when she gets to the terrace to collect all the papads which were drying up, while climbing the stairs, she saw a black owl which flees from left to right and it sat in one of the cloth hangers in the staircase area which is sign of a bad omen. My mother gets disturbed from that incident. The same evening somewhere around 7-8pm, she went to the terrace in order to get some fresh air and at the same time she was thinking about that owl incident when she saw her elder sister's daughter Tanya standing about 10-15 feet away from her silently. My mother was full of surprise to see her. She called her and stretched both her hands with joy, but instead of replying, she started walking towards the staircase. My mother observed that she was rather like floating instead of walking. My mother followed her to the staircase and she was surprised to see that there was nobody in that area. She came down and started looking here and there. We asked my mother regarding what she was looking for. When she told us about what she had seen in the terrace, we all were surprised with a pinch of fear that my mother might have seen a ghost which might have made itself look like our cousin. But my mother was not convinced with our explanations, she made a phone call to my aunty but she didn't pick up her call. She tries 3-4 time but there was no answer from the other side. My mother thought that she might have been busy or her phone might be in vibrate mode and this could be the reason behind not answering to her. But the same night, we got a tremendous bad news from my father about my cousin as she had committed suicide that evening somewhere around 7 to 8 pm. My father said that he had got that news from one of my aunt's neighbors. We immediately went for Allahabad, a nearby city to Varanasi which is approximately 130 km away. I and my elder brother along with father reached their somewhere around 2 A.M. Till then her body was taken by the police and had been sent for the autopsy. My uncle said that she had been found dead in her bed. She had taken poison. The reason behind her suicide is still unknown or un-said. It still shivers my spine when I remember that night when my mother saw her. May be she wanted to meet with her for the last time that is why she had showed herself up just after her death. |

I recently visited my home city and met some of my close friends. One of them recently got married. We will call him Amit and his wife Rina. We were sitting chatting and recalling our old memories. I asked them how was the wedding and how everything went fine when they told me this hair raising incident that happened during their wedding. They had hired a big mansion for all the events and celebrations. Rina's family side was staying in the mansion while Amit's family was staying in their own house. Rina was from a differnt town hence all her family side had come to Amit's town for the wedding. Amit's town was a small remote town a couple of hundred miles from our main city. Rina's father and her two brothers were sleeping in one room. The lights were off. The door was just shut but not locked. Anyone from outside can push the door to come inside and so anyone from inside can simply pull the door and go outside. Suddenly at around midnight, Rina's father started screaming in his highest pitch. Rina told that he was screaming at such a high pitch that the security guard who was far away from the mansion at the outside gates could clearly hear the screams and ran towards the mansion room for help. Not to mention her two brothers woke up shocked and failing to understand what's going on. Rina's father was completely awake actually fighting with something or someone. He was fighting in his full strength. Like if someone climbs on you with all his weight and tries to strangle you or beat you etc, how you will protest? Similarly, her father was moving his both hands and legs with full force and all strength possible to fight off what had come upon him. Interestingly, her father could see the ghost face to face while continuing his fighting but Rina's two brothers could not see anything. The lights were not switching on. The door would not open. They tried helping their father but could not do much as they could not see what to fight with. They could not calm him either while he continued his fight and screams. All other relatives sleeping in other rooms had already woken up by the screams and gathered outside the door along with the security guard, only to fail to open the door. They all were panicked by hearing the terrible screams of Rina's father. Finally one of Rina's brothers inside the room switched on his mobile which resulted in little bit light in the room. Suddenly the pressure went off Rina's father's body and he calmed down slowly. The lights came on at this point and they were able to easily open the door too. Rina's father was sweating badly. They tried to ask him what was going on but he could not speak. The security guard looked shocked and angry. He demanded to know why they had slept in that particular room. To this, Rina's brother told him that the receptionist gave them keys to this room. The security guard looked very angry. He said "how can such a big mistake happen? The entire town knows about this mansion that this particular room should always remain locked and nobody should use it. How this receptionist committed such a grave mistake?" Everyone was left shocked hearing this. They asked why such is the case. The guard narrated that a suicide had happened in the room. He also told that it is not sure whether that was a suicide or a murder because there was rivalry between two businessmen and one of them was found dead in the room (so possibility is that the other businessman got him killed). The mansion was famous for organising weddings but since some small incidents post this murder/suicide happened, the room was left locked not to be used by anyone. After Rina narrated this to me, I thought that was it. But no, there was more. Rina told me that after the wedding, her family went back to their town which was almost 500 miles from Amit's town. Her father saw that same ghost there also in their house once. This means the ghost followed him!. Many prayers and rituals were done to get rid off the ghost to bring her father back to normal. He could not sleep for three months! Out of fear and mental disturbance also because he again saw the ghost in his house. Sounds too much but that's what Rina told me. I asked how is her father now (its almost 1.5 years since the incident). She said he is fine and the ghost has not reappeared. She said after her father was coming back to normal, he narrated what had happened that night. He was sleeping when this ghost suddenly attacked him in full force. He could clearly see it was a man as solid as a normal being trying to reach his neck. Rina's father was wearing a Hanuman ji's locket. In Hinduism, Hanuman ji is known as a very powerful demigod by simply taking whose name, spirits get ward off. Rina's father told, the ghost was attacking his neck trying to get rid off the locket and he was even shouting at her father to take the locket out (perhaps because he himself was not able to touch it). Interestingly no one else in the room could hear the ghost's shouts except her father. Thankfully the ghost did not succeed and it appears Rina's father was saved by the locket. When asked what the ghost looked like, her father did not tell much. Perhaps he was too scared to recall that horrible face? But he said that it was a man. Eventually this ghost cost Rina's father half his health and body weight. Yes, Rina told her father was quite healthy when he came for the wedding but after this incident he very quickly lost almost half his weight in next couple of months. Though he is fine now. I never had a chance to come across anyone experiencing such a POWERFUL ghost ever. I found my hair raising at its end when Rina narrated this experience to me. |

It is of summer 2012, not a long time ago. I usually sleep in my own bedroom but my AC was not serviced and it was very hot about 32 degree so I was sleeping in guest room. The AC of the guest house was also not serviced but it is usually very cold. I think because it does not get direct sunlight due to trees around its windows. I usually open my laptop or watch TV but that day I did neither. I took some cookies as my night meal and was about to open my laptop but suddenly felt sleepy. Maybe this was because I was taking some pills because I had cold or I was just tired. Anyway, when I woke up or I think I woke up. Something was strange. I could not sit up. I was as if strapped by invisible ropes and only my eyeballs moved. I saw the fan move over me. As if I had no control over myself. Just staring helplessly on the roof. Not able to shout or scream (I am not a kind of person who will post regularly, I will only post when something strange happens to me, which will I think because I have a haunted room. Anyway this is the reason I named the account "silent scream" because I wanted to post this story and the most relevant name as I thought was this). Anyway that was how it was. Staring at the roof, just staring. I think I was like there for a few days (yes not believe me) but then I woke up on the same day and date. Still staring at the roof. But this time I got up to my feet and walked out of my room. But then I stopped. I think it was my instance when I saw the mirror. Someone had written something on the mirror with a black pen. It said -" Had a good night?". I called my mother but then it was gone. It is hard to believe but it is really true. I just know one thing-I won't go back there. |
