Duelling was rather popular many years ago and many gentleman died defending their honour. However, not everyone is as smart as the next guy!
Imagine if three idiots decided to duel at the same time. If each idiot randomly chooses one of the other two idiots and successfully shoots him, what is the probability that at least one idiot will survive?
The answer is: 75% and here is why:
There are 8 possible ways they can shoot at each other and only in 2 ways will all three die.
Thus we use: P(A)/n
"A" stands for the outcomes which we are interested in, and there are 6 of these, while there are 8 possible outcomes.
Therefore 6/8 = 3/4 which is 75%
