Myolax (Tolperisone Hydrochloride)

Presentation

Myolax 50: Each film coated tablet contains Tolperisone Hydrochloride INN 50 mg. Myolax 100 : Each film coated tablet contains Tolperisone Hydrochloride INN 100 mg. Myolax Plus IM Injection : Each 1 ml ampoule contains Tolperisone HCl INN 100 mg and Lidocaine HCl USP 2.5 mg.

Descriptions

Tolperisone Hydrochloride is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It effectively reduces muscular hypertonicity, improves peripheral blood flow by vasodilatation and reduces pain.

Indications

Increased tone of skeletal muscles due to organic neurological disorders (e.g. injury of the pyramidal tract, multiple sclerosis, myelopathy, encephalomyelitis etc.), muscular hypertension, muscular spasm, muscular contracture, rigidity, spinal automatism and discopathy. Obliterative vascular diseases (obliterative arteriosclerosis, diabetic angiopathy, obliterative thromboangitis, Raynauds disease, diffuse scleroderma) and disorders due to injured innervation of the vessels (acrocyanosis, intermittent angioneurotic dysbasia). In individual cases post-thrombotic venous and lymphatic circulation disorders, crural ulcer

Dosage and Administration

One should follow doctors instructions regarding the dosage of Myolax. The recommended dose is as followings: Tablet Adult: 50-150 mg three times daily according to the individual requirement and tolerance of the patient. Children (from 3 months to 6 years): 5-10 mg/kg/day in three divided doses. Children (from 6 to 14 years): 2-4 mg/kg/day in three divided doses. Injection 1 ampoule 2 times daily Intramuscularly (IM) or 1 ampoule daily Intravenously (IV). Injections should be given slowly.

Side Effects

Sometimes, muscular weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting and rarely hypersensitivity reactions may occur as side effects

Precautions

In case of children, the prescribed dose and duration of treatment should closely be observed

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component of the product Myasthenia gravis Nursing mother

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Tolperisone hydrochloride should be used in pregnancy according to physicians advice. Tolperisone hydrochloride should not be used during breast feeding Drug Interaction Concomitant use of methocarbamol with tolperisone hydrochloride has been reported to cause disturbance of visual accommodation.

Overdose

In the event of over dosage supportive therapy may be substituted
