Noel Kehoe’s - Detect GP Smartphone Application: An accessible psychosis information brochure for all
locations - was awarded the Eadbhard O'Callaghan bursary award in 2012.

Funding was awarded to develop a Smartphone Application and portal reorganising the current
DETECT website into a more accessible and concise format for delivery on mobile devices.
Reducing the duration of untreated psychosis is imperative in improving the long term clinical
and functional outcomes for service users and to reduce the burden for families. It is therefore
imperative that all stakeholders involved in the pathways to care, ie persons at risk of psychosis,
their family members , Gps and professionals who work with persons at risk of psychosis have
the most up to date information on how to detect psychosis early and access the most relevant
clinical supports.
Outcome: The Smartphone Application developments allow persons at risk of developing
psychosis, their families, general practitioners, and other interested professionals to access the
most up to date and relevant information on detecting psychosis and accessing help quickly.
This project has become a springboard for a number of other mobile applications that are
focused at service users and carers and health professionals.
-
Microsoft awarded the App Hero status to Noel Kehoe for developing the MHApps suite of applications in 2013, it is an award for the best Irish and Northern Irish Windows app developers.
