Ramadan:
In the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan
is the 9th. It is the month in which
Muslims all over the globe keep fast for
the whole month and at the end of the
month the day of Eid is celebrated. It is
one of the Holiest months of all and is
equally reverend by all the Muslims.
Importance of Ramadan:
Besides being one of the month of the
pillar of fasting in Islam, the month of
Ramadan also comes with great
importance both in light of hadith and
Quran. Allah Almighty says about this
month in Quran:
"Ramadan is the (month) in which
the Quran was sent down, as a guide
to mankind and clear guidance and
judgment (so that mankind will
distinguish from right and
wrong)....." (Quran 2:183)
Hence this month holds the honor of
being the month in which the Holy Quran
was revealed to mankind the more
reason for it deserving the greatest
reverence from Muslims. The saying of
Prophet (PBUH) describes the best of
Ramadan, He said:
"When the month of Ramadan
starts, the gates of the heaven are
opened and the gates of Hell are
closed and the devils are chained."
(Bukhari)
