Introduction

Ramadan:

In the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan is the 9th. It is the month in which Muslims all over the globe keep fast for the whole month and at the end of the month the day of Eid is celebrated. It is one of the Holiest months of all and is equally reverend by all the Muslims.

Importance of Ramadan:

Besides being one of the month of the pillar of fasting in Islam, the month of Ramadan also comes with great importance both in light of hadith and Quran. Allah Almighty says about this month in Quran:

"Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and clear guidance and judgment (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong)....." (Quran 2:183)

Hence this month holds the honor of being the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed to mankind the more reason for it deserving the greatest reverence from Muslims. The saying of Prophet (PBUH) describes the best of Ramadan, He said:

"When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained." (Bukhari)
