The File Menu

The file menu is opened by the action button [] in the header of the main page. You will see the the local storages of your mobile device and the last five recent opened files.

If you press a device storage item, a file-open dialog will appear, which will emumerate all *.txt, *.html, *.epub and *.mobi files on that storage. While the spinner in the header is turning, the enumeration is still running. If you close the menu, loading will be done in the background. Once you click a file, the text will be displayed in the main page. The actual text will be saved in the local storage of the browser. So after a restart, the previous text will be restored.

The Main Page

The body of the main page (white part) is divided into three parts

  1. The preceding text
  2. The current word with position
  3. The following text

Clicking into the preceding text will paginate one half page up; clicking into the following text will paginate one half page down. The time label (format h:mm) before the current word on the left side will show the elapsed time and the time label on the right side will show the estimated time of the following text. The calculated time depends on the speed options set (see below). The seek bar under the current word will show the position within the file. By clicking or sliding, you may roughly set the position. Every position change will be saved in the local storage of the browser. So after a restart, the previous position will be restored. Positions are saved per file. If you open a previous opened file, the current position of that file will also be restored.

The Toolbar

At the bottom in the footer are five action buttons

  1. [?] Displays this help
  2. [] Sets the current position to the beginning of the file
  3. [] Opens a search input with forward and backward buttons
  4. [] If no bookmar is set (outlined [] sign), it will set a bookmark at the current position. If a bookmark ist set (filled [] sign) it will jump to the bookmarked position. If the position equals the bookmarked position, the bookmark will be cleared again []. Beside this, a long press will clear a set bookmark
  5. [] Starts speed reading (see running mode)

The Running Mode

Pressing the "Play" button [] on the main page will start the speed reading. The position display will move to the top, and at the bottom a speed adjustion will become visible.

Clicking on the "+" button will increase the speed, whereas the "-" button will decrease the speed. Between the buttons, the actual speed (words per minute) will be shown. Clicking in this area will reset the speed. Clicking or sliding the seek bar in running mode is also possible. Any other click will stop speed reading. The running mode will also be terminated, if the app becomes invisible (e.g. in case of an incomming call)

The Options Page

Opening the options page (action button [] in the header of the main page) to manage the speed reading options. All options will be saved in the local storage of the browser. So after a restart, the previous set options will be restored.
